The longer I live, the more I am in awe of motherhood.
As most of you already know, I have been blessed with the grace of two mothers.
One who gave me life and then passed away when I was six years old, and the other who gently stepped in when I was eight years old and continued the role of motherhood.
And as far as I’m concerned, both of these women are my mother.
A few days ago while searching the Internet for Mother‘s Day photos, I not-so-accidentally stumbled upon a poem that was listed on an adoption agency website. And after reading these beautiful words, I realized they could actually pertain to ALL of us who have been blessed with two mothers. Whether it be through adoption, or through having lost our birth mother; the feeling behind the words pertain to the same thing….motherhood.
Two different lives, shaped to make yours one.
The first gave you life, and the second taught you to live it.
One gave you a nationality; the other gave you a name.
One gave you emotions; the other calmed your fears.
One chose adoption. It was all that she could do.
And now you ask me through your tears,
Heredity or environment, which are you the product of?

I would like to take this time to wish each and everyone of you fabulous mom’s out there, a HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
And know that you are loved and appreciated.....X
Note: I will be very busy this week because of additional hours I’m working for Mother’s Day, therefore I won’t be posting again until next week or be online as much. However, I promise to do my very best and catch up with your posts in the evenings when I get home.
Thank you for understanding. Have a great rest of the week everyone!
Ron that is the most beautiful poem. It is true that there is nothing like a mother's love...no matter how old you are. I am trying to work on my own blog about this and it can be hard to put into words. I know how I feel being a mother and I know how I feel about my own dear mother. I have been blessed in both regards. Nature/nurture it doesn't really matter. It is the warm arms, the beating heart and the forever connected soul that is unlike anything else. Thank you dear Ron for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem, Ron. See you next week!
ReplyDeleteawh don't go making me tear up in the morning. take care. see you when i see you.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem. I have been lucky enough to have a really close relationship with my mother in law. I consider her my second mom and adore her. Being a mom is all in the heart. I tell that to my horses and dogs all the time. I like to think they can understand.

Ron,
ReplyDeleteWhat truly beautiful poem. I have tears in my eyes reading those words that read UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
This my good man is not only a wonderful tribute to mothers but it is the story of your life. My mom is gone and still stays in my life through all she taught and all that she loved. When god needed another word for Love he invented Mother.
Thank you and enjoy the sun.
Dave
Mothers... they are precious, no matter what. My relationship is in a bit of strong winds at the moment. But I'm still loving her and waiting for better times.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful post, Ron! I know how you love both women who touched your life.
ReplyDeleteMy Mom is gone now but I do have great memories of her and being a Mom and Mimi now myself, it's so fun to just make more happy times.
Hubs birth Mom, oh I must get her gift in the mail!! Sheesh! I think it'll be a day late. :(
How I adore her and soooo miss seeing her too.
And his adoptive mother... you know, Mommy Dearest wanna be, is getting some flowers. I'll be a good little DIL though and not pick out anything too wilty. ;)
Have a great week! Hope your customers are all well behaved! xo
Aw. WOW. That was an amazing poem. And THANK YOU for the Mothers Day wishes!
ReplyDeleteDon't work too hard!
xoxoxo
Hiya Mr. Dave!
ReplyDeleteYes sir, that's exactly what I thought too...the story of my life. Perhaps that's why I felt so connected to this poem.
It TOTALLY speaks...."unconditional love."
"When god needed another word for Love he invented Mother."
Absolutely, Dave!
"My mom is gone and still stays in my life through all she taught and all that she loved."
Me too.
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing on this post, my dear friend! You ALWAYS add much!
Have a wonderful rest of your week.....X
Bonjour Susu!
ReplyDelete"Mothers... they are precious, no matter what."
So true!
I too have gone through "strong winds" with my mother, but I think that's only natural for many parent/child relationships.
"But I'm still loving her and waiting for better times."
And there will be.
Thank you so much for stopping by today, dear Susu! I'm so glad we've met!
Enjoy the rest of your week.....X
Ciao!
Good Evening Crystal Chick!

I actually sent my mothers card in the mail last week because I thought Mother's Day was LAST Sunday - HA! At least she got it EARLY this year.
"And his adoptive mother... you know, Mommy Dearest wanna be."
HAHAHAHA....OMG, that's exactly what I thought of my fathers mother...."Mommie Dearest!!"
