I don’t know how it’s been for my blogging friends who live somewhere else other than the U.S., but preparing last years taxes has been as much fun as having my nipples pierced.

(not that I ever had my nipples pierced)

First of all, this whole new thing about not mailing out tax forms to save paper; forcing us to prepare our taxes online instead of mailing them in has me so pissed, I could shoot red hot atomic fire balls out of my ass!

It’s as if the IRS is making it as difficult as possible for those of us who choose to mail our taxes. I’m sorry, but I’m old-fashioned and don’t trust the Internet enough to type out all my personal information over cyber space, only to have someone highjack my identity.

Gee….do you think I’m a tad PARANOID?

Damn right I am.

And I also think it’s terrible that our elderly citizens, many of which don’t even know how to use a computer, are being forced to hire someone to prepare their taxes because it’s been such a hassle for them.

I realize tax forms can be downloaded from the Internal Revenue Service website, however my printer is not working, therefore I had to go on a wild goose chase several times to our Federal Building because they were out of the forms I needed.

Yeah, yeah….I also could have had the forms mailed to me, but have you ever tried to call the IRS during tax season? By the time you get someone on the phone, you could copulate, get pregnant and give birth in 9 ½ months.

To TWINS!

I use to simply phone in my taxes, but the government took that option away from us YEARS ago. Now, they’re trying to deter the option of mailing them.

And besides this, I discovered that the IRS did not withhold as much taxes from our paychecks last year to help us out financially, even though I claim ZERO dependents on all my W2 forms. I do this for a reason, so that I don’t owe money at the end of the year. I would much rather have more taxes taken out of my paychecks each week so that I get it back at the end of the year instead of owing .

Well…..guess what?

I now OWE!

I did my taxes FOUR TIMES just to see if I had made a mistake, but I didn’t.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!?#?*?!

And thank god I was entitled to the $400.00 tax credit from Making Work Pay, because it reduced the initial amount I owed. For that, I am grateful.

This just freaks me out because in all my years of working, I’ve never owed the IRS.

I mean it’s not like I made $80,000. last year. HA! Hardly. So it seems ludicrous that with my very average income, I would owe anything?!

But alas, I do.

And let me tell y‘all….Ronnie ain’t exactly jumping around on a pogo stick; whacking his willie and cheering, “Hip-hip hooray! I owe the IRS money!”

Oh well, I guess it could be worse.

I could have my nipples pierced…….

NOT!

Wishing you a tax-free weekend everyone!

  2. OMG I think your tax people are in league with ours. As a Ch.Accountant Hubs is currently dealing with the hassle his clients are suffering. Suddenly they owe money ... and they aren't happy. We don't do internet banking or anything remotely connected to money so I read with horror your attempts to get forms etc. I'm beginning to wish I was twenty years younger ... for many reasons ... grins. Hope your weekend is angst free.

  4. Yikes, Ron! Is that you? Hahahahahaha!!! Perhaps not.

Red hot fireballs? Yeah, I know the feeling. The minute you try to deal with government department on the phone (or on the computer) you can just feel the old gut starting up production can't you? And I'm in England, but it's just as bad.

Luckily I have a dear, sweet husband who takes care of all that for me, and just hands me forms to sign now and then. Of course, by signing without reading, I may find one day that I owe my kidneys to a medical consortium in Bangladesh, but until them, I am free from tax-form woes. ;)

  6. Time to visit the people the H&R block ?

That is very inconsiderate of the IRS to remove the mailing-in option.

If this was their idea of reducing paperwork - they are working backwards.
Remember, reduction of paperwork always works from inside-out.

I've never seen my e-bills or e-taxes. Even-though I can. I handle all money matters in paper. I get a hard copy of all my bills and bank statements in the mail.
Even when I go to the accountant to do my taxes. I get two hard copies because I want to mail my tax-forms myself.

I am not even close to being a paranoid.

Yeah, I had to vent about this and try to make it funny or I would have been shooting hot atomic fire balls out of my ass for the next year!

    HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

OMG, it's been the worst year for doing taxes. A MAJOR hassle!

I'm kinda hoping this is just dream and I'm going to wake up and the IRS is going to say, "HA!....just kidding!"

  13. Having your nipples pierced is not that bad. I never had this done but I have often stapled my tee shirt to my chest so it will not ride up as I sit down.
The IRS is acronym for (It's Really Shit), now that is an other thing. I do enjoy the ease of doing my taxes now. I use Turbo Tax and it is a breeze. I got my refund back in 10 days and it went directly into my bank account.
I just do not believe we need a department that has us by the short hairs. If every one who draws an income, individuals, companies, churches, charitable organizations all paid a 15% tax then we would not need to file a report or wait for a return or pay an additonal amount every April. Also if we only had to pay 15% then we would all get an increase in our take home.
We would not need the IRS to employ so many people who are not doing anything.
I think that this is more fairer way to do things. And a way we can not have, that excuse we have for a president, to get us out of the red side of the spread sheet.
Talking about a nipple abuser. Now that is a subject I could write volumes on.
I have run now and get the post for my tongue ring removed from my anus.

"Time to visit the people the H&R block ?"

This year, I actually borrowed an awesome tax software program from someone at work that double checks for any mistakes, and it did in fact conclude that I OWED money. DRATS! However, it also discovered that I was intitled to the $400.00 tax credit. So, I'm really grateful for that.

  23. OH, what a perfectly painful post!!

    The picture - Yowch!!!!!!
The taxes and the fact you cannot mail them in. That is crazy. I do my own taxes and I usually do them the old fashioned way myself; with pencil & paper form. I hope that they don't implement that here in Canada. I know lots of people that use turbo tax, but I figure for only 1 person, I can figure it out myself.

(psst! Plus, I kind of like doing my taxes myself. It is like a big number puzzle that I get to figure out & I think it is neat how 1 little number can affect the bottom line. Don't tell anyone though, as I will be laughed off the web for sure)

    Have a great weekend Ron.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Doesn't that photo look PAINFULLY horrible?

Me too, I like preparing my taxes with a pencil and paper form. However this year, just to verify myself, I used Turbo Tax (it was very simple to use) and it did indeed claim that I owed money.

"I kind of like doing my taxes myself. It is like a big number puzzle that I get to figure out & I think it is neat how 1 little number can affect the bottom line. Don't tell anyone though, as I will be laughed off the web for sure."

Meeeee too! I actually use the 1040EZ form (here in the U.S.) because it's fast, simple, and I'm only doing taxes for myself. It IS amazing how 1 little number can affect the bottom line. And this year, when I saw that the bottom line was larger than the top line....I SHIT!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Wishing you a glorious weekend!

don't know what to say other than that I'm terribly sorry, because when that happened to me on a couple of occasions (owing the irs) it sure did not feel wonderful.

Being the mary sunshine that I am, I'm inclined to try to point out that there is actually a lovely silver lining to this story. But I don't know what it is.

    boo hoo.

Cristy and I both (yay!) got refunds, but we paid out the A$$ on property taxes last year. A modest consolation.

Anyway, just damn sorry to hear this, I do feel your pain Ronnie dear.

    You make it funny!

I wouldn't have liked having to do my own taxes. Ours is automatically taken from our salary, before we get it. Unless we are self employed (as I was) then we have an accountant that sorts that out along with everything else. Of course, wealthy retired people have to deal with it I expect. That counts me out :)

And you're right, there IS a silver lining to this story....the fact that I was able to deduct the $400.00 tax credit, which brought down my initial total A LOT!

So for that, I am VERY grateful!

"Cristy and I both (yay!) got refunds, but we paid out the A$$ on property taxes last year. A modest consolation."

Second, I did not realize there had ever been an option to phone in taxes. How groovy would that have been?

I have been putting off doing my taxes because it's a process that always scares the bejesus out of me. "Second, I did not realize there had ever been an option to phone in taxes. How groovy would that have been?"

Oh Mark, it was soooo cool when the government allowed you to phone your taxes in. I would do my taxes on paper and then phone in the numbers. Afterward, I would simply mail in my paperwork and have my refund check direct deposited into my checking account. It was so easy and FAST.

I miss doing that sooooo much!

I think it all depends on how much taxes were taken out of your paychecks as to whether you'll owe or not. I had no idea the IRS wasn't taking the FULL amount out of mine, so I ended up owing. Not EVERYONE is owing, so don't worry. You may be one of the fortunate ones.

Yes, tell you mother I had the same trouble. I use to be able to pick them up at the library or post office, but NO MORE. Drats!

"And we're talking about a person who doesn't have cable and only got a DVD player last year and that's only because we GAVE it to her."

Yup, my mother the same thing. If it weren't for my brother living with her, she wouldn't have those things available to her.

Thanks oodles for stopping by, Margaret! ALWAYS such a delight to see your comments. Hope you had a super weekend!

  45. I hate owing the IRS anything, but it's impossible to hold back just the right amount. I just have the IRS hold more than they need to. That way I know I'll never owe. There's nothing worse that having money in the bank only to have to turn it over to Uncle Sam.

I also agree with the frustrations of being forced to file electronically. Soon there'll be no yearly pilgrimage to the post office to pick up forms. What's next? Tracking chips implanted under our skin?! (forgive me, but we just saw Casino Royale last night ;-))

Oh, and excellent pic of Fakir Musafar. I've done quite a bit of research on that guy. Very few people can appreciate his accomplishments...

Well, that's what I thought I was doing when I claimed ZERO dependants, but I guess not. Especially last year, when they were purposely NOT taking out more taxes to help us. Helping us??? We only have to pay it back now - drats!

HAHHAAHAHAAHA! Yup, I bet you're right!

Leave it to YOU to know who that is. I had no idea?!!? Now I'm gone to have to google him to see who he is. Thanks for letting me know!

Hope you had a super weekend, buddy. Much thanks for stopping by!

X to you and the family!

  47. It's so scary how much we all owe in taxes. I totally agree with you. I'd rather have more taken out and not have to worry about owing anyone anything. Sorry you have to deal with that.
My hubby and the accountant takes care of our taxes. But, it's still stressful.

Oh......isn't it the pits????? I have a feeling this year there's going to be A LOT of confusion about paying taxes - LOTS of people requesting extensions - HA!
