Change

Well….

…remember when I shared with you right after New Year’s that I could sense 2012 was going to be a year of change for me?

Well….it is.

Starting with my mother getting ill, and then experimenting with advertising on this blog, and then changes at work, this year has started out with A LOT of change.

But that’s okay, because I had a feeling it was going to happen. I could sense both an inner and outer shift getting ready to occur.

And honestly, I feel open to it.

I feel ready to stretch myself - and in many directions – creatively, educationally, emotionally, and spiritually.

This is going to be a year of learning and expanding.

Some of it will test my faith, no doubt, but that’s where trust comes in.

I’ve always been one to follow my intuition, knowing that it is the guiding force which navigates where my life is meant to go, and the steps I’m supposed to take in getting there.

Which brings me to my first point of this post.

I’ve decided to make a HUGE change on Vent because I’m tired of blogging on THREE blogs, sharing all my varied interests. So, I’ve made a choice to consolidate my interests into ONE blog with 4-5 categories; allowing you guys to choose whatever you wish to read and comment on. Like a smorgasbord!

Some of the categories I’m thinking of are: my usual commentary, photography, product reviews and advice, interviews, and my You Tube videos.

I would also like to start using this blog to help promote other bloggers and entrepreneurs; talents that I would like to highlight.

Also, I will be making a HUGE graphic design change on Vent. I found an AWESOME template that requires MAJOR customizing. A lot of HTML code needs to be customized to make a very special feature that’s on this new blog, work. However, this new template does not accommodate Bloggers Template Design Feature, so if I want to add or change anything, I have to do it solely through HTML.

You’re gonna LOVE this new design because it’s bright, cheerful, inviting, and easy to navigate. It's FUN. The second I saw it, I knew I wanted to use it. However, I had to try it out on my practice blog first, to see if it worked properly before I committed. The only thing I haven’t tested it for is to see if it works with DISQUS. And if it doesn’t, I can’t use it because I WILL NOT give up my Disqus. But I’m pretty sure it will work.

Which brings me to my second point of this post.

I will be taking this whole week off from posting and blogging because I’ll need the time to focus on making this change happen. I have a great deal of prep work to do to get it ready.

Once I get the blog up and running next Monday, I will then slowly start moving some of the posts from my other two blogs over to this one. I may even start doing that this week, so if you see me publishing posts on your readers, just know that I’m merely transferring and republishing posts to this blog.

I was initially going to make this change in June, but since I will be going to Florida this summer to spend time with my mother and brother, I wanted to get this new blog design going, so I could get use to working with it.

I have always believed that a blog takes on a life of its own; moving the author to where the blog wants to go.

A blog can’t stand still. It has to morph.

Because a blog is like life.

It moves forward.

You just have to go with it. And take a chance.

Have a WONDERFUL week you guys! And know that I will be missing you VERY, VERY much. But I’m also VERY, VERY excited to unveil this new change to you on Monday. And just to let you know, towards the end of this week, you may see graphic changes happening before I officially launch it.

See you in 7 days everyone!

I share Peace, Love, and Sunflowers.....

Update on my mother: I wanted to let you know that my wild and crazy mother is still doing very well. She’s strong and positive, and will be starting her chemo treatment soon. So thank you for all your prayers, good thoughts, and love. It’s working….x

  1. Hey there Ronnie,
    Good morning!

There is some beautiful new energy going on here.

It takes a lot of courage and yes, work, to beat new paths. I know that you will make it, babe. I also am testing out the water on my side.Learning and developping are a part of it, too. I SO know that. For me, it has been going back to my photography and what I still have to learn & where I want this to lead me.

I am happy that you will take that trip this summer to be with your Mom and brother. It will be wonderful!

Have a great week I will catch up to you this week.

  4. Good luck with the new venture, Ron. I remember how I felt when I ran more than one blog. I still run two but one is solely for the WI and only requires an entry once or twice a month. I was thinking of decreasing the time spent on blogging but as soon as I get near to making the decision I change my mind. I mean, what would I do in my spare time?

Looking forward to seeing the new blog... knowing you it will be something very special. I'll continue to send special vibes for your mom. Have a Marvellous Monday, and hope your weather is better than mine. Torrential rain and cold is the order of the day.

Hey, Ron, first of all, that's great news about your mom! We're all still praying for her and we wish her--and you--the best.

As far as the blog, well, this is huge! "I feel ready to stretch myself - and in many directions – creatively, educationally, emotionally, and spiritually." This is so exciting! I want to wish you the best in this ambitious undertaking. I KNOW that you will succeed and I commend you for taking these first, brave steps. And you're so right about a blog taking on a lfe of its own. Can't wait to see where your blog is going! Take care, buddy, have a great week, I'll see you next Monday!

  10. Good Morning Barb~

Thank you, my friend! It's odd, because even though some of the change (especially when it comes to my mother) that is happening in my life right now is a bit scary and uncertain, I feel a really positive energy around me (and my mother as well). Therefore, I'm taking it as a 'sign' that everything will work out as it should.

I've been thinking about making this blog change for while now, so I it's time to take a chance and go with it.

"I also am testing out the water on my side.Learning and developping are a part of it, too. I SO know that. For me, it has been going back to my photography and what I still have to learn & where I want this to lead me."

Oh Ron! Your new bog venture sounds SO exciting! I can’t wait to see it AND enjoy it!

I have a “practice” blog too! I use it to try different things, like widgets and HTML codes before I put them on my REAL blog.

I remember when I first started blogging and trying HTML codes. I thought I was reading Chinese or something. Now, I actually understand it! I guess when you work with something a lot, it becomes easier.

I’m so happy to hear your mom is doing well! That’s such wonderful news. I received a bit of bad news about my dad on Friday. I’ll probably write about it this week. I’m trying to get my “thoughts” together as they are mixed with so much emotion right now--I’m sure you know how that feels.

    Have a fabultastic week!

    ((You)) and Mom!!

  24. I'll be watching with great anticipation because I, too, have more than one blog and am planning on a very fun THIRD blog next year that will feature daily posts. It might be nice to combine them all into one, if that's something that can be done without creating mass confusion.

I'll consider you my guinea pig, Ron!

Good luck getting all the HTML stuff squared away, and have a great week!

Thank you for your encouraging and supportive words, my friend! Really appreciate that!

"I have a “practice” blog too! I use it to try different things, like widgets and HTML codes before I put them on my REAL blog."

Isn't it GREAT to have a blog that you can practice stuff on before you publish it? I actually got the idea from a blogger friend about 4 years ago when she suggested that I start one, just for practicing stuff on. And I'm so glad I did it.

"I remember when I first started blogging and trying HTML codes. I thought I was reading Chinese or something. Now, I actually understand it! I guess when you work with something a lot, it becomes easier."

Meeeeeeeeeeee too! I remember when I first tried changing the HTML code in my blog. OMG, I was sooooo scared that I was going to destroy the whole template - HA! At first, you're right, it looked like Chinese! Now I understand it a bit better and am no longer afraid to change it.

"I’m so happy to hear your mom is doing well! That’s such wonderful news. I received a bit of bad news about my dad on Friday. I’ll probably write about it this week. I’m trying to get my “thoughts” together as they are mixed with so much emotion right now--I’m sure you know how that feels."

OMG....I'm sorry to hear about your father. And YES, I totally understand your mixed emotions, TOTALLY. Please feel free to email me this week if you need to talk. Or, we can even talk on the phone, okay? Just send me an email with a time to call you.

" It might be nice to combine them all into one, if that's something that can be done without creating mass confusion."

I know, I was thinking the same thing. However, I think if it's done in an organized way, our readers will actually enjoy it because they can pick and choose what they wish to read and comment on. My readership is very open and diverse, so I think they might like the fact that they can come to one blog and reading it in one place instead of having to go to THREE different blogs.

I've seen several other bloggers do this on their blogs, and it worked for them. So, hey, why not try it myself?

  31. Dearheart--wherever you go, whatever you do.....I'm with ya. It's that simple. Tabs, links.....doesn't matter to me. I'm along for the full ride, yaknow?

I just think I've been hanging out with you for a bit and a half and I've gotten particularly (horribly) fond of you. I've even connected with some folks who frequented here and am now a 'frequent flier' with them as well.
So see, it doesn't matter--one web log or three, I'm with ya!
    And you're stuck with me.....ya poor thing....LOL

I've said it before and I'll say it again--you're a brave one to involve yourself with making changes here/there. I've stuck to the same plain Jane template for EIGHT years.... LORD, help me, but that's just true.
I'm still wowed that folks actually bother to show up on occasion and read/comment there.....mostly it's a place for me to talk to ME. LOL Not surprising that it's confusing sometimes to those who do visit--but that little spot's not changing today (and hasn't for EIGHT years...LOL). In part because I'm not as brave as you (fear of losing EIGHT years worth of fingers to keyboard), and in part because IF I get around to feeling a desire TO change it, it won't be for 'ease of the readership'. Bless your heart that our ease matters to you......seriously.....cuz as you can well guess, I LOVE folks to bits when they comment, but that's not a part of the mission at Mel's place. Could be that'll change--odds are that it won't.
I know you understand it's not 'folks don't matter' that drives that decision--folks MATTER a whole LOT.....and I hope I communicate that when I comment on their web logs..and when I comment on yours.
If I don't..then I've got some changes I need to make, eh?

And yes, I'm still wordy! LOL
I'm excited for you for the changes.
I'm excited for US for the changes.

And I'm over the moon elated BEYOND beyond to know mom's doing okay, that there's a trip planned (complete with Mai Tai's, I hear...LOL) and that you'll get to hug her like crazy soon!

I think we should be able to send her prezzies and fun cards and toys and stuff!!

Is there a way to do that?
Can we send them on to you and have you deliver them to her?
I know how those little notes, fun toys and 'stuff' brighten my sister's world.
    Just askin' cuz I can.

And just askin' cuz I wanna.
You can email me if you like--but I don't think I'm the only interested person, yaknow?
    Maybe just the one askin'........

    (((((((((( Ron ))))))))))))))

I send prayers, you know that. Daily.

What you don't know is that sister had the BIL light a candle for your mom Sunday. She couldn't go do it herself...but she wanted it done. And he did it cuz she asked.
    Now how cool was that?

"I've even connected with some folks who frequented here and am now a 'frequent flier' with them as well."

Yaaaaaaay...and that's what I always hope to do on this blog - bring people together in community.

"I've said it before and I'll say it again--you're a brave one to involve yourself with making changes here/there. I've stuck to the same plain Jane template for EIGHT years.... LORD, help me, but that's just true."

Your blog is YOU, Mel! Simple, therefore it's perfect for you! I think every blog is like a reflection of the author. And as far as me being brave, it's not really bravery but more so that I HATE being afraid to try something that frightens me. So it's probably more STUBBORNESS - HA! Plus, I LOVE to learn new things.

"I know you understand it's not 'folks don't matter' that drives that decision--folks MATTER a whole LOT.....and I hope I communicate that when I comment on their web logs..and when I comment on yours."

Yes, I TOTALLY understand what you mean, and you DO communicate that when you comment on other peoples blogs, most definitely!

My thing is, that because my blog is always changing, I just want to make sure that whatever I changes I make are easy for my blogging friends to navigate through. Because yes, this is my blog, but if I don't make it easy for people to read, then it's like inviting people into my home and making them feel confused about how to get to the bathroom - HAHAHAHAHA!

OMG...that brought TEARS to my eyes! And please tell your sister I said THANK YOU and that I send her Reiki every time I mediate!

I am glad to hear that you are open and welcoming to the changes coming your way Ron. I sometimes struggle with change. Heck, who am I kidding? It gives me hives on occasion, BUT I am slowly learning that not all changes are bad things. They all have a learning curve built in and often bring beautiful new nuances to your life.

I look forward to the new changes that will be going on here in the days/weeks to come. Have fun with them!

  36. One blog can be time consuming...I knew you had two, but had no idea you have three! Change, meld, do what is needed...that's what life is all about. Mine has changed through the years and will continue. Sometimes my focus changes and other times it's my frequency of posting. I'm finding that I'm getting involved in many more outlets and have less time for blogging. It doesn't mean I like it less, it just seems that life around me takes precedence.
Whatever you do with your blog, you can count on my support.

Trust me, I struggle with change too because I sometimes fear the unknown. And you're right, not all changes are bad things. I somehow knew this year was going to be one of many changes/shifts/growth, so in a way I feel ready to embrace them. This is a year I feel like taking chances.

And I ADORE how you said this....

"They all have a learning curve built in and often bring beautiful new nuances to your life.'

    That's brilliant!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your support, my friend. Greatly appreciate it!

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see ya next Monday!

X to you and your girls!

"I knew you had two, but had no idea you have three!"

Yes...I have THREE, can you believe it???? I actually have a fourth one over at Wordpress, but no longer post there.

"Change, meld, do what is needed...that's what life is all about."

I LOVE how you said that, and I agree!

And yes, sometimes my focus changes too. Which is exactly where I'm at right now because my new focus is going to be melding all three blogs together, so that I can offer a potpourri of topics. I just feel like expanding, yet keeping it all in one place.

"Whatever you do with your blog, you can count on my support."

    (((( You ))))

Thank you, my friend. I really appreciate your support and loyalty, that means a lot to me.

And thank you for your well-wishes and hugs to my mother and I.

Have a wonderful week, and I'll be seeing ya next Monday!

    X ya!

This is so exciting. I'm glad you've finally gotten to the point of consolidating. I'm really interested to see how you bring all the different portions of the blogs together. You may find that some work and some don't after time. I'm still in the process of working through all of that. Good luck and I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!

  41. How exciting! You are so creative and brave. Can't wait to see the new blog. I'm so happy to hear your Mum is doing well, I will continue to send positive thoughts, prayers and oodles of Reiki to her. x

  42. Hey Ron!

First things first; I'm so glad to hear that mom is doing well and that all the prayers and positive energy are working. I am still praying and sending out my love, because in my opinion love is the energy that heals.

Ron, darlin', YOU are going to do great things. Not only with this blog, but in your entire life. You are an amazing person who is full of life and positive engergy (Read: love). You deserve none other than an amazing life full of the same. Change is good, and I wish you all my best in whatever you set your hand to.

    Have a wonderful week!

    XOXO

"You are so right about the blog having to change...mine's changed about a zillion times since I started!"

HA! Meeee too! When I think of how many times I've changed directions with this blog (design wise and topic wise) it's mind-boggling! But hey, that's the whole point of having a blog....it grows as we grow!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope you had a wonderful Easter and that your tooth is much better!

Have a great week, and I'll see ya next Monday!

X to you and the girlz!

  44. Good morning Akelamalu~

Thank your for your encouraging words, m'dear! I think for you (and some others who read all THREE of my blogs), it will be so much easier for you to read it all on ONE blog. I'm not exactly sure how often I will be posting the various other topics, I'm just going to play it by ear and see what happens.

" I'm so happy to hear your Mum is doing well, I will continue to send positive thoughts, prayers and oodles of Reiki to her."

    (((( You ))))

Thank you SO MUCH because it's keeping her strong, positive, and healthy!

Have a wonderful week, and I'll see you next Monday!

  45. Hiya Jen~

Thank you! Me too, I'm glad I finally got to the point of consolidating. As you know, I've been thinking about doing this for some time now and it just feels 'right' to try it now.

"You may find that some work and some don't after time. I'm still in the process of working through all of that."

Exactly! This will be a work in process; seeing what works and what doesn't. The hardest part has been to narrow my topics down to 4-5 categories. I spent HOURS doing that yesterday - UGH!

Thanks for stopping by and for your encouragement, my friend. I really appreciate it!

Have a great week, and I'll see ya next Monday!

Hope you had a faaaaabulous time in CA!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! And you are soooo right, LOVE is the energy that heals!!!!

And thank you SO MUCH for your beautiful, sweet, and encouraging words. You're the BOMB!

I'm just going to take this first step in consolidating everything into ONE blog and then see where it takes me. I know it will shift and morph as time goes by.

Thanks a BUNCH for stopping by, girl! Hope you had a wonderful Easter, and week ahead! See ya next Monday!

    XOXO

P.S. Hope all is going well for Sage and his Mom!

  47. Oh Ron. What a coincidence that I should write to you about your old posts being mixed up and showing as unread in my reader and in this post you say you are about to move stuff around soon. I have no idea what has happened in my reader but is only your blog it's happened to. Now I see why it's totally unimportant as you are about to make major changes anyway :)

I look forward to the changes you are about to make with anticipation!

  48. Hey there Babs~

"What a coincidence that I should write to you about your old posts being mixed up and showing as unread in my reader and in this post you say you are about to move stuff around soon."

Yes, I finally figured out what you meant in your email when I remembered that I was doing this and you guys would be seeing it happen through your readers!

" Now I see why it's totally unimportant as you are about to make major changes anyway."

Yup, I won't be posting an actual post on this blog until Monday, so you can just ignore these republished posts.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a terrific week, and I'll see ya on Monday!

    X to you and Mo!

Thank you for your encouraging and supportive comment, my friend!

I still have SO MUCH stuff I gotta to before I launch these new changes on Monday - OY VEY!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and have an AWESOME week! I'll see ya next Monday!

P.S. I haven't had time to stop by your blog to see your 3-Day Photo Challenge, but I'm viewing them through my reader. They're GREAT! You GO, girl!

Always so fab to see ya, buddy!

Thank you, yes, I've been contemplating this change for a while now, so thought that it was time to get off my ass and just do it. I think it'll be kinda neat to offer everything on one blog and just allow people to read whatever they want. I've still got a shitload to do, but it's actually been a lot of fun.

Thanks for stopping by and for your encouragement. Muchly appreciated!

Have a super week, and I'll see ya next Monday!

  53. *laughing* YES I'M A NOSY NELLIE!

I just HAD to slip over and check out what was NEW over here before you debuted the changes.

I know, I know....not the most patient person on the block, huh?

k.....I COULD go to the naughty corner.......but you'd haffta catch me first!

*laughing* YES I'M A NOSY NELLIE!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, GOD LOVE YA, WOMAN!!!!!

That's okay, I'm a nosy nellie too, so I understand!

Well, as you can see, I haven't changed anything as far as the new design just yet, I'm doing more of "behind the scenes stuff", like republishing posts from my other two blogs. I spent TWO hours this morning transferring posts and I still have a lot more to do. I also spent TWO hours on Tuesday re-labeling all my posts on this blog into 5-6 categories. Oy vey....was that ever a HUGE undertaking.

I probably won't be changing the design until Sunday because I REALLY want it to be a surprise for you guys on Monday.

Anyway, I hope you're having a faaaaabulous week, dear lady!

    See ya soon!

It's so FAB to see ya here, girl! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Yes, I've been wanted to do this for a while now, so I thought it was time to get off my ass and just do it. I still have a load more to do, but the technical part of this is going well, it just takes a lot of time. Can't wait to launch this new idea on Monday!

Have a great week, and I'll see ya on Monday!

  57. Ooh, this sounds so exciting! I can't wait to see it all as it's unveiled.

Glad your mom is doing well.

Sorry for the late visit... I've been in agony with a ?pinched nerve? in my ?shoulder/arm? on and off for a little while and am trying to get around to everyone and everything around here. OI!

Have a wonderful *almost* weekend. xo

  58. Hey there Mary~

Thank you. I think you're going to enjoy this new change because, being someone who reads all three of my blogs, it's going to be so much easier for you to read them all on one blog :)

Aw, sorry to hear about your pinched nerve in your shoulder/arm - OUCH!#?!! I', sure you're doing Reiki on it, but I'll send you some more from here.

    ((((( Mary ))))))

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. And thank you for all your prayers and energy for my mom, it's helping tremendously!

Have a super weekend, and I'll see ya on Monday!

And thank you SO MUCH for your positive vibes to my mother. She's doing very well and I (and she) knows that it has much to do with all the prayers, good vibes, and love being sent her way.

Hope you had a great week and an awesome weekend ahead of you. God, I can't believe it's FRIDAY already!?!

    See ya on Monday!

  61. Ron, what's up buddy! I like the consolidation idea. Like you said...you break it down into categories and let people choose. I look forward to the new template look and refreshed blog.

Until then, have a great weekend!

  62. Hey there Constant Complainer~

    Grrrrrrrrreat to see ya, buddy!

"I like the consolidation idea. Like you said...you break it down into categories and let people choose."

Thank you. I've been wanting to do this for the longest time because I'm tired of blogging on THREE blogs. This way, everything will be on one blog and people can choose whatever they want to read. The hardest part has been republishing and re-labeling my posts - OY VEY! I still have more to do tomorrow, but by Sunday, I should have everything transferred over.

Have a GREAT weekend, and thanks a bunch for stopping by!
