Rave Review: Mario Badescu Skin Care

*This is not a sponsored post

About 2 ½ weeks ago, I attended a two hour training seminar on a skincare line called, Mario Badescu, which has been around since 1967.

Over the past few years, I’ve seen various products from this line reviewed on certain blogs I read and they were always RAVE reviews with nothing but positive feedback. But in all honesty, even with all the raves, I never actually took the time to investigate and try them. That is, until now.

After the training, we were each given a box with 6 products (4 deluxe sizes and 2 sample sizes) of Mario Badescu's most popular and adaptable skin care items, all of which I tried consistently since the training so that I could get an accurate sense of how well they worked on my skin.

This is what was inside the box (note: one item is missing because I already used all of it).

Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater (I am in LOVE with this product)
*Not shown: Seaweed Night Cream

And I have to say that after trying Mario Badescu, I now know why everyone raves about it. I've experimented with A LOT of skin care products in the 28 years I've been in this industry, some of which were very good, however, I have never seen a complete skin care line work in perfect synergy as Mario Badescu. Very often I will use a skin care line and like certain products but not others, so I end up using different products from different lines. But with Mario Badescu, I personally like the results of using it as one complete line.

In the 2 1/2 weeks that I tried these products, I saw a noticeable difference in the firmness, tone, texture and clarity of my skin. Also, I love the way these products smell - delicately fresh, clean and natural.

About Mario Badescu Skin Care

One of the things that may especially attract you to this skin care line is that it's primarily botanical, made from herbs and natural ingredients, so it's very gentle but highly effective. This line is ideal for anyone (woman or man) with sensitive skin. And it's also ideal for problem skin (such as acne or rosacea).

Oh, and another thing that will attract you to this line is the price point.

Here is an excerpt from the Mario Badescu website:

"Likewise, we have maintained Mario’s dedication to offering our skin care products at exceptional prices. We believe that everybody deserves good skin care, and have crafted our prices accordingly. Using simple, no-frills packaging is part of the reason we are able to do this."

Folks, I have to tell you that in all the years I've been in this industry, I have never seen such a powerfully effective skin care line with a price point like this - it is sooooo reasonable.

So, if you're on the lookout for new skin care products, it is with great enthusiasm and confidence that I can highly recommend Mario Badescu.

Yes, the packaging might not look fancy, but I assure you, the results are!

Please check out their website, where you will find everything you could ever need for your skin. And what's really cool about the website is that each product has it's own video clip, so you can watch and listen to what each product is for and what it does.

The website also has a store locator so you can find out where to purchase Mario Badescu in your area. And to my readers who live in Europe, yes, it is available there as well.

Visit Mario Badescu and enjoy faaaaabulous skin care!

Have super weekend everyone!

Great, Ron, just what I need. It's not often we come across a whole range where each item compliments the next so I was particularly interested. You know the problems I've had getting the right products for my sensitive skin! I checked the store location and yes Harvey Nicholls do stock the Mario Badescu range... both of their stores though are many miles away from me. One in London and one in Scotland.... I shall have to move...haha. Not to worry, I shall keep my eyes peeled because other stores are bound to jump on the bandwagon.

    Hope your weekend is enjoyable.

  2. Ron, I love these products! I started out by using the drying lotion after reading how good it was for clearing up blemishes and it worked. I also use the cleanser you mentioned and love it because it removes makeup as well. It's a great one step cleanser that leaves my skin feeling clean without drying it out.

Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater (I am in LOVE with this product)

I love it too! It's a wonderful light moisturizer but also excellent for setting my makeup. I buy Mario Badescu at Ulta but I've also purchased it at Nordstrom.

Great review! I really enjoy your product posts. Have wonderful weekend Ron x

  5. Good morning Valerie!

". It's not often we come across a whole range where each item compliments the next so I was particularly interested. You know the problems I've had getting the right products for my sensitive skin!"

Yes, I was so thinking of YOU when I wrote this post because I know how sensitive your skin is and thought you would enjoy reading about a line that's GREAT for sensitive and/or dry skin. What I really like about this line is that it each product compliments the next, but you don't have to use that way. You can use in conjunction with whatever products you are currently using. My suggestion would be to start off with 1-2 products and see how you like first.

"Harvey Nicholls do stock the Mario Badescu range..."

Yup...I noticed that as well. But I do think that more and more specialty stores will start carrying the products. Honestly, it's SUCH a line!

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a lovely weekend!

    X to you and Joe!

  6. Hola Denise!

HA! I had a feeling (being a product junkie) that you would know about Mario Badescu! I have never tried the drying lotion but SO MANY customers come into our store and ask for it so I know it must be great. In fact, we keep that one item stocked well, because it sells out so fast.

"I also use the cleanser you mentioned and love it because it removes makeup as well. It's a great one step cleanser that leaves my skin feeling clean without drying it out."

Yes, you are so right, it does remove makeup as well. At first, I had to get used to the fact that it didn't "foam up" because I normally use a foaming cleanser. But after trying it a few times I saw that it cleaned my skin thoroughly, even though it didn't foam.

Isn't the facial spray faaaaaabulous? And I love the way it smells, like fresh rosewater!

Thanks so much for stopping by and adding your feedback to Mario Badescu, girl! Have a fantabulous weekend and Happy 4th of July!

Shae, you'll LOVE this line because it's extremely affordable and works very well. In fact, when I first saw the prices I was FLOORED.

I prefer to use products that a more natural than synthetic, and this line is primarily botanical, made with herbs and natural ingredients. And you can SMELL them.

Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a great weekend and 4th of July!

  8. You are so welcome, Suzi! It's a great line if you enjoy using more "natural" products. And as I shared, the price point is soooo reasonable.

Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July!

  9. Ron, I think my girlfriend must own a few of these products because the bottles look very familiar to some in our bathroom. I will pass this post onto her because she loves this kind of stuff.

Have a great 4th of July, dude!

HAHAHAHAHA! Matt, that cracked me up! You GO, boy!

  11. Ron, thank you for your non-compensated review of this line of products. They sound fabulous, and it's always nice to have a personal recommendation before you try something new!

Packaging isn't a Big Deal for me. In fact, less is more in that arena! I mean, who wants to pay extra for fancy bottles of skin care products, when what's most important is what's INSIDE them?!

Having sensitive skin AND rosacea, I'm forever conscious of what I put on my skin. Generally, I use what my dermatologist recommends (which isn't necessarily budget-friendly). I'm going to ask her about Mario's line and see if it's something that will work for me.

    Happy Fourth of July, dear!

    Hey, Ron, Happy Fourth!

I honestly haven't given much thought to skin care, but perhaps I should, given the relentless march of time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, especially since I don't have a clue about taking care of my skin!

Take care, buddy, and have a great weekend!

  13. Yes! Mario Badescu! I use their blue face wash, Keratoplast Cream Soap, as it is the ONLY soap that doesn't turn my face red. Even "gentle" products like Neutrogena are harsh in comparison. Great review, Ron!

  14. i like the color of the bottles. they look like they have a clean, fresh smell to it. i have a moisturizer i use, but was looking for another one with spf or sfp, what is it? i used to buy oil of olay, not sure why i stopped, probably the price, but we get what we pay for most of the time, right. glad you see an improvement in your skin.

  15. Ron, several years ago when I was in a wedding, the groom bought all the guys a shaving kit from this line and they were the best shaving products I have ever used. I used everything in the kit until it was finished and then bought the shaving cream and after shave lotion separately. I never purchased the other stuff that was in the kit, not because they weren't good, but because I think I really needed them.

    Mario Badescu ROCKS!

  16. Happy Fourth to you too, Rob!!!!

You are so welcome. I LOVE this line of skin care products, so I wanted to share it with everyone. Mario Badescu is out of NYC and in fact, they have a skin care salon on 52nd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. And they sell all his products there.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Hope you're 4th of July was GREAT! Have a super weekend!

Yahoooooooo....thank you so much for sharing your feedback about Mario Badescu, Jean! Yes, we carry that cream soap in our store and it sells a lot. Aren't his products awesome? Gentle, yet effective.

"Even "gentle" products like Neutrogena are harsh in comparison."

You are so right about that. In fact, Neutrogena products I have found, are too harsh. Especially their face washes.

Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a super weekend and Happy 4th of July to you and your family!

  18. "i like the color of the bottles. they look like they have a clean, fresh smell to it."

Aren't the bottles cool-looking, Val? When I first saw them in the store, I thought they looked a little bit like the bottles that Kiehl's Skin Care uses - very simple.

" i have a moisturizer i use, but was looking for another one with spf or sfp, what is it?"

The moisturizer I am currently using is the one pictured above and it has an SPF of 15, which is more than enough sunscreen unless you're going to be sitting in the sun at the beach.

I also used some of Oil of Olay product and found them VERY good. I used to use their face wash.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July! Wasn't the weather gorgeous today?

"Ron, several years ago when I was in a wedding, the groom bought all the guys a shaving kit from this line and they were the best shaving products I have ever used."

That is so COOL! Yes, I noticed on their website, the men's shaving kits. However in my store we don't carry any of those products, but I'm wondering if we can order them because I'm dying to try them. Glad to hear you like them!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing you feedback on Mario Badescu, buddy! Have a SUPER weekend and Happy 4th of July!

  20. Hellooooooo there Debbie!

You are so welcome, my friend. I like to post product reviews every so often if I find something that I have personally used and got great results.

"Packaging isn't a Big Deal for me. In fact, less is more in that arena! I mean, who wants to pay extra for fancy bottles of skin care products, when what's most important is what's INSIDE them?!"

You are sooooooo right about that!!!!

"Having sensitive skin AND rosacea, I'm forever conscious of what I put on my skin."

This line has quite a few products for rosacea, so yes, ask your dermatologist what he/she thinks about Mario Badescu because you will not believe how reasonably priced these products are. And not only that, but a little goes a long way with these products.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a super weekend and Happy 4th of July!

  21. Thanks, Ron. I appreciate reading your unbiased opinion on anything, but esp. On something you already have knowledge. Those prices aren't bad and there's a location not too far from me, so I will stop in and give them a try. I'm always looking for good hand cream, too. Hope you have a fun fourth!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ron, they have two shaving creams. I use the peppermint one because it's lighter and I like the way it smells.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You are so welcome. I only share products that I personally believe are good and can say positive things about them.

    "Those prices aren't bad."

Yes, I agree. Having been in this industry for so long, I can't see spending $95.00 dollars for an eye cream when you can purchase one for much less and equally as effective.

" I'm always looking for good hand cream, too."

OMG...me too, especially during the winter months when my hands and cuticles get very dry. I haven't tried any of the hand creams from Mario Badescu just yet, but they've got several of them.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great weekend and I hope your 4th of July was faaaaabulous! The weather was gorgeous here yesterday so I was outside most of the day.

  24. Yes, I noticed that, Robert. And I think I would like the peppermint one as well. Thanks so much for letting me know, buddy.

  25. Ron, I felt the same way when I first tried it because I was use to using a foaming face wash so I didn't think it my skin would feel clean. But what I noticed was that not only did it clean my skin well, but it also left it feeling comfortable and not the slightest bit dry or tight. I think it's just a psychological thing that we think a cleanser needs to foam to work.

Yes, I love the way the facial spray smells too!

  26. " I think it's just a psychological thing that we think a cleanser needs to foam to work."

You are sooooooo right about that, Denise, I think it is psychological.

Another thing I discovered from using this cleanser is that you don't need to use a lot of it. A little goes a long way. I think I used too much at first.

  27. Those sound wonderful. And I wonder if part of the way they stay at a reasonable price is by not making you pay for fancy packaging. Who sees the packaging anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  28. The 'reasonable price' isn't something most folks with a quality product CARE about now a days. I'll have to use the store locator and see if there's something close to us. It's the sun that does it to me and yet I refuse to stay out of it. So I'll do some investigating. I'm one of those 'hard to sell' folks when it comes to skin care products--and then I wonder why I've got more lines and wrinkles than the rest of the folks I know (LOL.......probably me being focused on MEMEME, huh....LOL) --I don't suppose it could be due to AGE! I needed to take better care of my physical being than I did. Years of radiation and chemotherapy didn't help, but I didn't go to any lengths to repair that damage either.

Right! I'll have a look. Certainly they'll have a search bar that'll let me list the current 'issues' so I can see what products they have to maybe work with it.
    Can't hurt!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes, that's exactly why. And you're right, who sees the packaging anyway? I'd rather pay less for simpler packaging, so I can have quality skin care at an affordable price.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Hope your weekend was great and had a Happy 4th of July! The weather here was gorgeous, so I spent almost the entire day outside enjoying it.

Yup, you said it, Mel! However this company works hard at delivering a quality product at a VERY reasonable price. And I applaud them for that.

"Right! I'll have a look. Certainly they'll have a search bar that'll let me list the current 'issues' so I can see what products they have to maybe work with it.Can't hurt!"

Yes, do check out their website because they offer so many great products for a wide variety of skin types. And the website is very thorough in explaining what each product is and how it works.
