It gave me...I'm glad I was late to this party. It gave me a chance to read every one of the responces. And it gave me some time to give thought to it all. I'd talk about it in general terms, but that would be too comfortable. I'd tell you how it's FB or Twitter or blame social media as a whole, but the last I knew I was capable of making decisions and choices...and I don't belong to any of 'em so that's not my issue. I could agree with whole cultural shift with life in the fast-self-serve-no-patience-and-feeling-entitled-to-be-rude-cuz-I-had-to-FREAKING-WAIT-lane....--cuz it's true. This medium was designed to bring people closer together....and it appears it's creating isolation and social deprivation instead. Those "social medias" ARE NOT SOCIAL. How's that for having an opinion. ROFL!!! Talk about solo-masturbation. LOL
I could tell you those things and have that be truth--in a vague, limited, depersonalized way. There's truth in those things.
But one of the many things I've treasured in having had the priviledge to cross paths with you....was the authenticity and integrity you shared here, with ME. I whine. I kvetch. I take my inventory. I whine some more....LOL...and never, ever did I expect a comment....'cept from a stray buddy from a topic board that knew where to find me. They closed topic boards all over the place when web logs started, go figure. I'm always a novel writer on other people's web logs. LOL. As evidenced with yet another wordy one. My conversatios happen here, or at Val's, or Bill's or Jackie's or Diane's. It's not that I don't adore you stopping in--and I'm zipping over if the comment tells me you're hurting or excited...cuz it MATTERS. I've simply never used my web log for that purpose.
Have I posted less...oh yes. LOL. I started HEARING my own whining....pissed me off. ROFL. I'm TRYING to get over it, but given my defects of character, you know that could take a crowbar or a couple cases of explosives. :-/
But you ain't getting rid of 'the wordy one!!'...just cuz....Melnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092603952139807812.post-79528744995992550032014-06-26T14:12:09.124-04:002014-06-26T14:12:09.124-04:00HA! For my part, I stopped blogging a few years ago, shut down a moderately successful blog, with a handful of consistent followers, and then, a few months ago, decided that I wanted to start up a new project-related blog. I'm finding that I post a lot less, I share less, and I don't ever really get comments. I don't think my content's nearly as funny or interesting as it used to be. "I...your assumptions are probably spot on.

"I think it has to do with so many other social media platforms that have been created."

there's facebook, instagram, twitter, google+. those platforms are quick and easy. to write a blog post, one has to sit down, write it, proof it, add photos, answer comments, etc. it's time consuming and no one has any time left after posting to other sites. i doubt blogging is as big as it was a few years ago, it peaked and now everyone is coasting down the hill to the bottom of inactivity.

too, people don't like to read long blog posts anymore or long articles for that matter. i send things for my friends to read and they don't read it because it's too long. everything is happening so fast around us, if we can't be satisfied in a few minutes (did i just type that) then we move on to something more fast paced.

we're on a constant information highway, we're all in the fast lane and no one wants to drive in the slow lane anymore that is blogging.

now i do enjoy your blog and i don't know how you come up with so many topics to write about. so keep blogging, ron for those of us who can't or don't want to any more. the baton has been passed. ;)ladyVnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092603952139807812.post-66275126308366890602014-06-25T05:24:24.360-04:002014-06-25T05:24:24.360-04:00Ah, Ron. I sent you the responses via email because otherwise I don't think you could read them, as you're not on Facebook. And that's something that started to bother me when I blogged more. I'd share a blog post link on Facebook and people would comment there instead of on the blog and frankly, I'm not even sure people read the actual post! It's just too easy to comment or click like and run!

Here's my own response to your post that I left on FB:

As
for me, I've somehow lost my ability to see humor in every day things.
My radar for it sort of shut down. Life gets in the way. And part of it,
too, is the time it takes to write something entertaining, my fear that
I've lost
my chops and the easy of writing for Facebook and getting nearly the
same response to things as if I'd invested 3 hours writing something.
It's easier for me to just share a thought or blurb or really bad pun on
Facebook. It got too easy and I got too lazy.JunkDrawerhttp://www.junkdrawerblog.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092603952139807812.post-3068232332018304062014-06-25T01:01:40.978-04:002014-06-25T01:01:40.978-04:00Yes, I've noticed the same over the last sever...Yes, I've noticed the same over the last several years, Ron. I know that some bloggers take breaks from blogging and get busy, so they can't post OR comment as much. I'm referring more to the bloggers who practically post everyday; don't respond to comments; and seem to never visit other blogs.
