With a smart phone especially because as you use words your program recognizes those words & starts adding them to your auto fill in list so you don't have to type them in so often. Plus it starts to learn the way you write (at least mine does) & keeps giving me choices for the next word so sometimes I can almost write the whole sentence without resorting to actually typing any words.
I cannot use my thumbs like the younger people do though Ron - I have the same problem you do, my fingers are too wide for the space they give. So I have gotten quite good & hung & peck & the side of my left forefinger. Now I can tough type over a 100 WPM & I usually use my right hand for writing, but I have found I can text my using the side of my left forefinger with less mistakes than any other method. Maybe this would work for you?benzekneesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092603952139807812.post-49528683098706311962015-12-22T14:15:08.905-05:002015-12-22T14:15:08.905-05:00Hellooooo there Pam! Wow...I'm surprised ...Hellooooooo there Kathy!

Wow...I'm surprised you don't have a Smartphone being in the computer consulting profession, because somehow I thought you would. But I'm sure, working on computers all day, the last thing you want to do is have a Smartphone where you'd have access to the Internet. So I don't blame you at all.

I too had a Nokia phone. In fact, that was my second cell phone. The one I have now is a Motorola (Moto E). It's a Go phone, so I only pay $40.00 per month (a flat rate), unlimited texting and talking. I have no contract or have to pay taxes or extra fees.

" For now, I just use my work-issued iPad in places where I can get free wifi and it works for me."

That's sounds perfect!

"I remember boxing them up for a Christmas gift for Dave and then calling the number from a landline. When I first got my new cell phone, I kept calling it from my landline phone, just so I could hear it ring - HA!

And you're right, in the earlier days cell phones were very boxy and big; especially the ones you could get for your car.

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor! I'm on my third generation of iPhone now - a 6S - and the one thing I rarely use it for is an actual phone. Even though it serves as my house phone, too. Because I don't really like talking on the phone. But I love to have access to the internet, email and so on. And have a small pretty decent camera with me at all times. And I like being able to keep up with my fiancé throughout the day by text and with my kids. Also, my phone syncs with my ipad and computers, so I don't have to transfer anything.

All that said, I have little patience for people who stay buried in their phones while they are with other people.Secret Agent Womanhttp://biredux.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092603952139807812.post-19108642691678824002015-12-11T04:38:54.980-05:002015-12-11T04:38:54.980-05:00Ha! Just a tiny Nokia regular phone that I have to type texts out "old school." It's a huge pain and I don't do it often. I don't have a smartphone because once I get one (and one for Dave) we'll never get off that hamster wheel of a monthly bill that we don't want to start. We make do with my regular phone, but I will admit there are times when I would benefit from a smartphone. For now, I just use my work-issued iPad in places where I can get free wifi and it works for me.

I,too, had cell phones in the 90's! I remember boxing them up for a Christmas gift for Dave and then calling the number from a landline. The box rang and he was like "What the?" So fun! Meow!

"I also have been dodging buying a cell phone recently but am almost ready to cave and I LOVE flip phones, didn't even know they still have them."

Same here, I've been dodging buying a cell phone too, but after being in the hospital and needing a phone (with my contact phone numbers in it), I decided to take the plunge and get one. And yes, absolutely...you can still get a flip phone. The only reason I upgraded was because of having a phone in which you could use a touch screen rather than a key pad. I also wanted a bigger screen. I got my flip phone (and Smartphone) through AT&T. I have a Go Phone account with them, which means I have no contract or long-term obligation. I just pay each month as I go. The rates are very inexpensive and so are the phones. I paid only $14.99 for my flip phone.

Here is the link to AT&T's Go Phone website in case you're interested.
https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/prepaidphones.html

And you're right there are advantages to a flip phone. I like that you can carrying it in your pocket because it's so small. And yes, you don't need a case with them because you don't have to worry about cracking the screen in case you drop it. The Smartphone I got however, is very narrow and small. It's not one of those BIG cell phones.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great week and please let me know if you decide to get a cell phone, okay?

X to you and ChedRonhttp://www.triloquist.net/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092603952139807812.post-43119415517402451762015-12-08T16:21:47.046-05:002015-12-08T16:21:47.046-05:00PSS: Oh, I didn't scroll down to all the pics,...PSS: Oh, I didn't scroll down to all the pics, you were showing your old flip phone!!
