Okay, I wish you could have seen my excited reaction when I opened the package that my blogging buddy, Chrissy, mailed me this past weekend.
You would have thought I had just discovered the secret to no more wrinkles without Botox.
I was utterly ecstatic!
Thank you, Chrissy...x
As most of you peeps already know, I ADORE squirrels.
Yeah, yeah…I know they can be devilish, pushy, somewhat disruptive, and very aggressive when it comes to stealing food from the birds, but hey…what does that tell you about me?
I’m devilish, pushy, somewhat disruptive, and aggressive when I’m HUNGRY too.
Anyway, all my life I’ve wanted TWO things.
1) A Barbie doll (which my blogging buddy, Peg, sent me in the mail earlier this year).
2) And a squirrel.
Now thanks to Peg and Chrissy…I have BOTH!
Allow me to introduce you to my new pet squirrel…Charles.
Isn’t he ADORABLE? And the cool thing about Charles is that he came with his own constant food supply. If you look real close, you can see that he’s eating one of my favorite foods…an APPLE!
Sunday we spent the day in the park; hanging out...
As soon as we got there, Charles tried to climb this tree. But alas, he couldn't...because he suddenly realized that his nails were made of cardboard.
We discovered a baby pumpkin on the ground, so Charles begged me to take a photo of him posing by it.
Charles and I bonding
All the other squirrels in the park ran away when they saw Charles. Personally, I think it was because his exceedingly handsome looks intimidated them.
Either that, or they were FREAKED seeing a grown man in the park taking photos of a cardboard cutout of a squirrel.
After a long day running around within nature, Charles was dang tired. Here he is just after I tucked him into bed at 7 PM. Isn't he cute?
Right after I snapped this photo, Charles BIT my lip.
Yup….isn't the little motherfucker CUTE????

I hope he has a better piece of apple than the ones you got the other day!
ReplyDeleteI love squirrels, too, in spite of the fact that they regularly raid my birdfeeders and even chewed a hole in the screen to get onto my porch. But they are so freaking cute!
The photo of the real squirrels running away from Charles reminded me of the scene in the Velveteen Rabbit where the real rabbits wouldn't associate with the toy one.
LOL You and Charles are going to have so much fun together I can tell.
ReplyDeleteHokey smokes, you guys are the new Rocky and Bullwinkle! Charles sure is one cute little mother f@cker and it's clear that he's in charge! But which one of you is nuttier!?! Have a great week, buddy, enjoy your new friend, and watch out for those teeth!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new friend xo! they are pretty darned adorable, I have to admit. Sometimes their squacking can get a little tiresome, and I constantly find them digging in my flowerbeds to plant the peanuts that we put in their tray of nuts. But overall, they make me smile too. Did I ever tell you about the time I saw a squirrel trying to eat a whole apple? Impressive I tell you! They are clever little rascals.
ReplyDeleteRon, you are soooo funny. Loved this entertaining post.
ReplyDeleteCharles is cute and obviously respectful over other people's belongings. That's the right sort of squirrel to have as a pet. I might use this as a threat to the destructive lot I have. If I threaten them with turning them to stone or cardboard maybe they'll stop wrecking every garden item they can find.
Have a happy week.
Hello Secret Agent Woman~
ReplyDelete"I hope he has a better piece of apple than the ones you got the other day!"
HA! Meeeeee too!
"I love squirrels, too, in spite of the fact that they regularly raid my birdfeeders and even chewed a hole in the screen to get onto my porch. But they are so freaking cute!"
So glad to hear you say that because many people (and it's understandable) do not care for squirrels because of that reason. But they're soooooooo cute, aren't they??
"The photo of the real squirrels running away from Charles reminded me of the scene in the Velveteen Rabbit where the real rabbits wouldn't associate with the toy one."
Hey you're right....it does! I love the Velveteen Rabbit!!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great Monday and week!
X
Good morning Pearl~
ReplyDelete"You and Charles are going to have so much fun together I can tell."
Tee, hee! Aren't CRAZY?
And yes, he's a great little roommate because it just sits there quietly - HA!
Have a wonderful week, m'dear! And thanks so much for stopping by!

Hey there Rob~
ReplyDelete"Hokey smokes, you guys are the new Rocky and Bullwinkle!"
HA! Yeah, and we might even start our own 2012 new version of the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show on HBO!
" Charles sure is one cute little mother f@cker and it's clear that he's in charge! But which one of you is nuttier!?!"
Yup...he's DEFINITELY the one in charge and I'm definitely one who NUTTIER!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a great week and I hope you're feeling better. The best to you this week with your doctor.

Charles and Ron
Gooooooooood morning Valerie!
ReplyDeleteTee, hee....I got a bit carried with this post, you think?
Thank you, isn't Charles adorable??? And yes, very respectful. But I gotta watch out for those sharp teeth of his because they're like RAZOR BLADES - HA!
"I might use this as a threat to the destructive lot I have. If I threaten them with turning them to stone or cardboard maybe they'll stop wrecking every garden item they can find."
Bwhahahahahahahaha! OMG...that's a GREAT idea!!!! I bet that would scare them enough to keep them out of your garden!
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Happy Monday and week!

Ron, what a wonderful suprise to get. Your own cardboard squirrel. Alas, life is good.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of the pet rat I got one year. His name was Randolph. Yes, we called him Randy the Rat. He had his own set of polo sweatshirts with the letter R emobroidered on the chest. He was a member of the exculsive Rodent Club and held the chair as top rat for six years. He lived in the pipes under my house and I could hear him and his friends entertain to the wee hours of the morning drinking Ratatinis and smoking a little Tiajuana Rat Pot.
I fondly recall the days when Randy and I would frolic in the muck and mire and filth of the city. He would look so cute covered in slime and then we go to the showers to wash away our pleasure. He always wore that adorable pea green shower cap. Then he would slip in to his RR robe (randy rat).
We would dine on decaying bits of old flesh and garbage.
Ah, those where the days.
Ron all kidding aside enjoy your new pal and keep us posted on how he does during the winter months.
Keep his nuts dry.
Dave
Hey there Diane~
ReplyDeleteAw...thank you. Isn't Charles adorable?
"Sometimes their squacking can get a little tiresome, and I constantly find them digging in my flowerbeds to plant the peanuts that we put in their tray of nuts. But overall, they make me smile too."
Yes, I know what you mean because I see them in the park doing the same thing. They're constantly digging holes and planting peanuts. I notice them doing that a lot right now because I guess they're storing them up for the cold winter months?!
" Did I ever tell you about the time I saw a squirrel trying to eat a whole apple? Impressive I tell you!"
No, but it's funny you mentioned that because one of my blogging friends (I can't remember who) shared a post with a photo of a squirrel holding a WHOLE apple and eating it. HILARIOUS!
Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a great week!
Much X to you and Cristybella!
Hey there Dave!
ReplyDelete" Your own cardboard squirrel. Alas, life is good."
It SURE is! I was so excited when I saw what was in the package! My very own SQUIRREL!!!!

Dave....that whole thing about Randy the Rat made me HOWL!!!

OMG...you are freakin' HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for the GREAT morning laughs, buddy!
You ROCK!
Have a faaaaaaabulous week!

Charles! What a great name. I'm so glad you love him. I couldn't leave him alone in the store and you know I have no more room in my house! He was calling your name!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day with Charles!
Helloooooooooo Chrissy!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like his name! I suddenly thought of it as soon as I saw him....Charles!
" I'm so glad you love him. I couldn't leave him alone in the store and you know I have no more room in my house! He was calling your name!"
Thank you SO MUCH! I love him, love him, love him!!!!
Thanks again, girl!
Have a super week!
X to you and the gang!
Awe, you two are just a couple of nuts, aren't you, lol?
ReplyDeleteHi Ronnie,
ReplyDeleteThat IS your second dream come true. That was so sweet of Chrissy!
Ronnie looks like one happy camper :).
Now, don't you think that Charles * must be feeling like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer? None of the other squirrels wanted to play; BOO!!
You show 'em, Charles and Ronnie!
What a delightful Monday post. Much enjoyed.
xoxo (to Charles too)
P.S. * Charles = name of an estranged sibling of mine. It is something to have this name pop up here!
Hiya Suzi!
ReplyDelete"you two are just a couple of nuts, aren't you."
HAHAHAHAHAHHA! We sure are, aren't we?
I think I found the PERFECT roommate!
Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a great week!

The Nuts
Oh Ron, this post is so cute! And I just about died laughing when I read the last line of your post. You are hilarious!
ReplyDeleteCharles is such a little doll. I know he's only cardboard but he really looks REAL!
I bet the other people in the park were looking at you taking photos of Charles and thinking, "WTF?"
Thanks for the laughs. Have a wonderful week, Ron.
Bonjour Barb~
ReplyDelete"That IS your second dream come true. That was so sweet of Chrissy!
Ronnie looks like one happy camper :)."
Yup...my second dream come true!!!! Happy camper indeed! Wasn't Chrissy a sweetheart sending me my very own squirrel??
"Now, don't you think that Charles * must be feeling like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer? None of the other squirrels wanted to play; BOO!!"
Bwhahahahahhahahaha! HILARIOUS, Barb!!!
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, my friend. Have a delightful Monday and week! The weather here this week is going be GORGEOUS. Cooler temps and sunny skies!
X to you and D!
"P.S. * Charles = name of an estranged sibling of mine. It is something to have this name pop up here!"
Oh, how ironic is that?!? For some reason, the name Charles just came to me when I saw the squirrel.
Hola Denise~
ReplyDelete"Charles is such a little doll. I know he's only cardboard but he really looks REAL!"
I totally agree! In fact, in some of these photographs he looks AMAZINGLY real! Especially his eyes and fur!
"I bet the other people in the park were looking at you taking photos of Charles and thinking, "WTF?"
OMG...you have seen the people looking at me! One couple actually stopped walking and just STARED at me - HA!
Always fab to see you, girl. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific week!
X
Ron, you are one sick puppy and I love it! So creative you are. I would have never thought to take Charles out to a park and photograph him. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteThe one of him in bed is so cute.
I really like squirrels myself. I know they can be aggressive and disruptive when it comes to eating and getting into things. Yet, I can't help but still enjoy them.
Ha ha ha! He bit your lip! I hope you sent him to bed without any apple after that.
ReplyDeleteI will never forget going to St James's Park (We went there when Princess Diana died, to show our respect) and the park was alive with squirrels. They were so tame that they sat on you and let you hand feed them. They would jump on you while you were walking along and sit on your handbag, waiting for food. It was amazing. I could have stayed all day there :)
Hello there Robert~
ReplyDelete"Ron, you are one sick puppy"
Bwahahahahhaahaha! Yes, aren't I????? I can't help it though, the second I got Charles I knew I wanted to do this. I had so much fun!
"I really like squirrels myself. I know they can be aggressive and disruptive when it comes to eating and getting into things. Yet, I can't help but still enjoy them."
Me too!
Always great seeing ya, Robert. Thanks for stopping by, buddy! Have a wonderful week!
X,
Sick Puppy
Hey there Babs~
ReplyDelete" He bit your lip! I hope you sent him to bed without any apple after that."
Tried, but for some reason I couldn't get that DAMN piece of apple out of his hands - HA!
And you should see the CUT on my lip! RABIES!!!!

Oh, Babs, that sounded AMAZING!!!! What a beautiful story!
The park that I go to has squirrels similar to the ones you described. They have no fear of people and will often jump right up on the bench with me; stand on their back legs and ask for food. They are soooooooo CUTE!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a wonderful week!
X to you and Mo!
This is one of the few areas where we disagree, Ron. You look at squirrels and see cute little pets; I look at them and see rats with bushy tails (or a nice base for an autumn stew). I would venture to guess that a cardboard version would be much less irritating, though.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: how many people gave you a wide berth in the park? :)
Howdy Mark~
ReplyDelete"This is one of the few areas where we disagree, Ron."
Yes, I know. Many people feel the same as you.
"Question: how many people gave you a wide berth in the park? :)"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! How about EVERYONE!!!! I actually had people stop walking and look over at me like, "What the HELL is he doing?!?!"
Crazy I am!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a fantabulous week!
X to you and Tara!
There is something a tad evil about your squirrel, Ron..........those pointy ears are HUGE! And now I'm wondering if there is a Philly blog out there with a story today about some dude in the park taking photos of his cardboard squirrel!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Bijoux~
ReplyDelete"There is something a tad evil about your squirrel, Ron..........those pointy ears are HUGE!"
HA! I know, he looks like a vampire squirrel!
I think he's (pointy, hairy ears) part of the "Red Squirrel" species, even though he's not red. I read somewhere that they come in a variety of colors.
"And now I'm wondering if there is a Philly blog out there with a story today about some dude in the park taking photos of his cardboard squirrel!!!"
Bwhahahahahahaha! I don't know about a Philly blog, but it's was in the Philadelphia Inquire newspaper this morning!
Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a super Monday and week!

ReplyDeleteAnd I was about to ask about Barbie.
But I can see she's temporarily been replaced.
Oh, I adore your playfulness. And your splendid sense of SELF that allows you to take Charles on an adventure with you to the park on a bright, sunny day.
I hope you had AS much fun taking photos of Charles as I did enjoying the view.
Bless your heart for sharing him with us......and Chrissy's heart for sending you him on.
Yes......I love the punkin shot! Go figure!
Hiya Mel~
ReplyDelete"And I was about to ask about Barbie.
But I can see she's temporarily been replaced."
I know, and she was VERY jealous the first couple of days. However, she and Charles are the best of friends now. In fact, they went out on a date tonight. They went to a new restaurant that just opened up, called, "Everything From Soup to NUTS!"
Bwhahahahahhahahaha!
"Oh, I adore your playfulness. And your splendid sense of SELF that allows you to take Charles on an adventure with you to the park on a bright, sunny day."
Aw...thank you. I had so much FUN putting this post together!
"Yes......I love the punkin shot! Go figure!"
Funny you mentioned that because I was SOOOOOOOOO thinking of YOU when I took that shot!
Thanks oodles for stopping by, dear lady! Have a faaaaabulous week!

ahhahahahha. i want you to put that squirrel on a leash and let me see a photo of you walking it. how cute is that squirrel in the bed. all animals look cute in the bed, don't they.
ReplyDeletemake sure you get his shots and nails clipped.
Hey there V Girl!
ReplyDelete"i want you to put that squirrel on a leash and let me see a photo of you walking it."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Hey...you gave me a GREAT idea!!!! Don't be surprised if you see a post on that within the next couple of months. I may do some photos of Charles on a leash in the SNOW!
"how cute is that squirrel in the bed. all animals look cute in the bed, don't they."
Tee, hee...they sure do!
"make sure you get his shots and nails clipped."

Heh...that's too much! Genius gift, and very well used :-) Thanks for the laugh! I needed that...
ReplyDeleteHey there Lady Dianne~
ReplyDelete"I love that you covered him at bedtime, so perfect"
HA! And you should have seen me trying to decide what color blanket to use to cover him with for the photo. I tried THREE different colors. You would have sworn I was shooting photo for the September issue for "Pet Vogue Magazine!"
Bwhahahahahaahhaaha!
"may Charles live a long and happy life"
Aw...thank you!
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady! Have a terrific week!

And wasn't it the PERFECT/GENIUS gift? Chrissy is such a sweetheart!
Much thanks for stopping by, buddy. Have a grrrrrreat week!
X to you, Karin, and Mr. Tyler!
Ron & Charles
We should all have Charlie's in our lives. Easy to walk, cheap food bills, no vet fees and the list is endless. Low maintenance pets are the best. You could even take him abroad on holiday without him be quarantined. Wonderful. Nice Post :)
ReplyDeleteHey there Rumpunchdrunk~

OMG...that CRACKED ME UP!!! HILARIOUS!
And you're right.....no vet fees!
Always great seeing ya, buddy! Thank so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful week!

I hope you didn't bite his little cardboard head off for taking a hunk out of your lip Ha Ha
ReplyDeleteForget about the other squirrels in the park how about the other people watching you take pictures of a cardboard squirrel, you most likely looked more normal than most of them anyways so forget I brought it up.
Now remember you are my friend and now that you have a cardboard squirrel I don't want you to get too attached, especially when you try to give him a bath.
Don't let folks give you a hard time either because being a squirrel lover and coming out of the closet about it so to say is a good thing, says the man looking at the squirrel statue on his desk.
I am still laughing and am proud that you now have both of the items you were wanting.
Loved the post Buddy!!
bwhahaha! This is just the cutest thing!!! Your very OWN squirrel!!! I positively LOVE your creativity Ron...you never cease to amaze me!! I would have loved to have been sitting in the park when you came strolling by with your "flat" squirrel!! Hope your lip is ok!! xo Jeanne
ReplyDeleteHi Jeanne~
ReplyDeleteThank you. Isn't he cute?
"I would have loved to have been sitting in the park when you came strolling by with your "flat" squirrel!!"
And can you imagine if you had the 'girlz' with you? I wonder if they would have barked at Charles? HA!
Yeah, my lip is okay...although it might leave a scar :(
Thanks for stopping by, dear lady. Have a wonderful week!
X to you and the girlz!
Howdy Jimmy~
ReplyDelete"I hope you didn't bite his little cardboard head off for taking a hunk out of your lip Ha Ha"
No, but I was tempted, trust me! HAHAHAHHAHA!
"Now remember you are my friend and now that you have a cardboard squirrel I don't want you to get too attached, especially when you try to give him a bath."
Bwhahahahahhaha! Too funny! The good thing about Charles (being cardboard) is that all I have to do to clean him, is DUST him!
"Don't let folks give you a hard time either because being a squirrel lover and coming out of the closet about it so to say is a good thing, says the man looking at the squirrel statue on his desk."
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! Another squirrel lover!!!!!!
Woot! Woot!
I know many people don't care for squirrels, however, I LOVE them!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a faaaaaaabulous week!
X to you and Miss Cindy!
Squirrels are nuts! This one has rabbit ears. Maybe you could put him on top of your TV and see if the reception gets better? Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteWe have fox squirrels here. I'd never seen one before. They have a long body and a fox tail and a sort of black face. Cute but not too friendly. I heard one guy say they raid food from the golf carts. I think he was full of it. And I got up close to one in my golf cart. He just climbed half way up the tree and then said, in squirrel talk, "Whatdaya want, dummy?"
I went on my way, quite surprised a squirrel would dare talk to a man with a bag full of golf clubs that way...but he may have divined that he could outrun this old guy!
You think?
Hahahahahahaha!!!!! I love that last sentence! ROFL!!
ReplyDelete"As soon as we got there, Charles tried to climb this tree. But alas, he couldn't...because he suddenly realized that his nails were made of cardboard" ... AND because they were full of apple. It's very hard to climb a tree while holding an apple segment in both paws, you know!
That's funny. People do this with cardboard cut-outs of greyhounds, too. In fact one sold for quite a good price at a charity auction recently!
Hey there Lowell!
ReplyDelete"This one has rabbit ears. Maybe you could put him on top of your TV and see if the reception gets better?"
Bwhahahahahahaha! That was HILARIOUS! And I wonder how many people besides you and me who remember RABBIT EARS!?! Remember how you would sometimes put TIN FOIL on the ears to get better reception???
"We have fox squirrels here. I'd never seen one before. They have a long body and a fox tail and a sort of black face. Cute but not too friendly."
WOW...I've never seen a fox squirrel. I'm going to have to Google that later to see what they look like.
"And I got up close to one in my golf cart. He just climbed half way up the tree and then said, in squirrel talk, "Whatdaya want, dummy?"
HA! Don't ya just love their audacity?
"I went on my way, quite surprised a squirrel would dare talk to a man with a bag full of golf clubs that way...but he may have divined that he could outrun this old guy!
You think?"
I think squirrel could outrun even a teenager! My god, are they fast!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Always enjoy your comments! Hope you're having an awesome week!
Hiya Jay!
ReplyDelete"Hahahahahahaha!!!!! I love that last sentence! ROFL!!"
Tee hee...I just couldn't resist :)

HAHAHAHHAHAAHA! True!!!!
"That's funny. People do this with cardboard cut-outs of greyhounds, too. In fact one sold for quite a good price at a charity auction recently!"
They make them in greyhounds too??? How cool is that! Chrissy (the girl who sent me Charles) got one for herself that was cutout as an OWL. And my god...it looked SO REAL!
Always great seeing ya, my friend. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you're having a super week!

"He won't pee on the rug!"
Bwhahahhahahahaha!
Or...POOP!
Thanks for stopping by, Sis! Hope you're having a fantabulous week!
X ya!
Lol! My dogs would love this. They are obsessed with squirrels. One almost attacked my computer when I showed her a pic. Makes them crazy! You two look really cute together. Awe!
ReplyDeleteOh Ron, we need to get you a real pet or at least a stuffed one. I think you might have a problem with my sweet pointer, Dassel. He's been on a squirrel catching phase in our yard. Unfortunately, I have to toss the little bodies over the fence into the weeds. Ick! Doesn't seem to detour the squirrels from coming into the yard. They're not very smart.
ReplyDeleteHiya Jen~

Bwhahahahahahha! OMG...how FUNNY!!!!!!!!
Sometimes when I'm sitting in the park, I'll watch the dogs go bonkers over the squirrels; trying to chase them up a tree!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Angelia. Hope you're having an awesome week!

Yeah, I just don't know what to say about this post.
ReplyDeleteWell, other than, it was cool of Chrissy to send you such an appropriate gift. And you are FREAKIN' CRAZY! In a wonderfully sweet sort of way. ;)
May you and Charles have many good times together. LOL
{{hugs}}
Hey there Mary!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Aren't I FREAKIN' CRAZY?????
And you should have seen the looks on the people walking by me in the park!!!
Yes, wasn't it so sweet of Chrissy to send me Charles? She's a doll!
"May you and Charles have many good times together."
Aw...thank you :)

Oh my gawd! I'm glad I went to the bathroom before I read your blog, Ron, or I would have pee running down my leg!
ReplyDeleteCharles is freaken adorable!
And it's quite alright that he's devilish, pushy, somewhat disruptive, and aggressive, because I'm like that, too! Even when I'm NOT hungry! lol!
Those squirrels in the park are damn jealous that Charles is one handsome dude. Plus, he has YOU, spoiling him with apples and pumpkins. WHAT squirrel wouldn't be jealous? They have to hunt and beg for food. Imagine their embarrassment!
Give Charles a hug from Auntie Pam.
Have a fantabulous week, you and Charles!!
((YOU))
Hellooooooooooo Pam!
ReplyDeleteAw...thank you, my friend.
I'll be sure to tell Charles you think he's adorable. Although, he's getting a bit egotistical with all these comments about how CUTE he is. He keeps staring at himself in the mirror and saying, "Damn...I'm one HOT squirrel!"
"And it's quite alright that he's devilish, pushy, somewhat disruptive, and aggressive, because I'm like that, too! Even when I'm NOT hungry! lol!"

Where did you get this?! I am looking for an image of a squirrel to print out but cant find one big enough! Can you point me to the right direction :)
ReplyDeleteGreetings Alissavdb~
ReplyDeleteIt was a gift giving to me by a friend who got it from a gift shop in a hospital.
The only thing I can share with you is the company name on the sticker in back of the squirrel.
It's called: creative co-op.
Maybe you can Google it and find the company online.
Hope this helps!
