Post updates by email:

I love the culinary marriage of tomatoes and cucumbers.

Especially when you slice them; sprinkle a bit of oregano and grated Romano cheese over them; then finish it off with a heavy drizzle of olive oil.

TO. DIE. FOR.

And after I’m done eating the tomatoes and cucumbers, I like to take some nice Italian bread and dip it into the remaining olive oil on the plate and then gobble it up.

It's almost a 'spiritual' experience for me because the whole time I'm eating this, I'm saying, "Oh my god...oh my god...oh my god...I'm ready to come to heaven!"

I don’t why I’m telling you this other than I just found two photographs in one of my computer files that were taken last June, when I got together with my three east coast blogging buddies (Meleah, Valerie, and Kathy) in Phillly. Part of our city get-together included going to the Reading Terminal for lunch. The Reading Terminal is a wonderlust of culinary treats. You can find most any kind of ethnic food to eat, from Mediterranean to Soul food. The Terminal also offers fresh meats, fish, baked goods, flowers, and produce.

After eating our lunch, the girls and I took a walk through the terminal. Meleah and I stopped by one of the produce stands to check out the various fruits and veggies, and then took photographs of ourselves, while giggling like two delvish little kids.

Now if you know anything about Meleah and me, we are probably the two most “too much information” bloggers on the Internet. She and I jokingly call each other the Queen and King of TMI because we hold little reservation about sharing too much. Our lives are pretty much an open book when it comes to sharing stuff about ‘ourselves’ on our blogs.

Some may think, you share too much. Yet, Meleah and I feel that how we are on our blogs is exactly how we are offline.

What you see and read on our blogs is what you would most likely witness if you interacted with us in person.

We share our personal life ups and downs, our light and dark, and also our spontaneous and sometimes crazy off-color sense of humor.

So, without further ado, I give you….Meleah and Ron, sharing their tomatoes and cucumber in public.

Produce never looked so good.

Or so BIG.

Have a faaaaaaabulous weekend everyone!

  1. That first photo is like a taste of summer! Have you ever put ranch dressing on diced cukes and tomatoes? Top with cracked pepper! Also heavenly!

And yeah, real mature, you two! Bahahaha....I would have been there taking the picture for you!

  2. 'culinary marriage of tomatoes and cucumbers'

Love that description as much as I love the taste of tomatoes and cucumbers, and the arrangement is so inviting. It just asks to be eaten.

I remember your outing with the girls, but hey I didn't know you'd gone around exposing yourself.... grins. Brill pictures, made me smile. I wish I could have been as uninhibited when I was younger.

Have a nice day, whatever you do.

  3. Reminds me of my favorite oldie but goodie joke of all time...

Once there was a beautiful woman who loved to work in her vegetable garden, but no matter what she did, she couldn't get her tomatoes to ripen. Admiring her neighbor's garden, which had beautiful bright red tomatoes, she went one day and inquired of him his secret.

"It's really quite simple," the old man explained. "Twice each day, in the morning and in the evening, I expose myself in front of the tomatoes and they turn red with embarrassment."

Desperate for the perfect garden, she tried his advice and proceeded to expose herself to her plants twice daily. Two weeks passed and her neighbor stopped by to check her progress. "So," he asked, "Any luck with your tomatoes?

"No," she replied excitedly..."But you should see the size of my cucumbers!"

  4. That first picture made my mouth water. I recently bought a balsamic vinegar glaze and I bet that would be a nice addition. It's nearly tomato-planting time!

I've been accused of TMI on occasion On my old blog I told a few stories that had people chiding me for my lack of judgment. But life is too short to always be perfectly sane. Isn't it?

  5. Okay.....I was hungry before you made me laugh! I love tomatoes and cucumbers--with everything you listed AND just a touch of the balsamic vinegar. In fact....he-who-does-the-cooking asked what I wanted for lunch yesterday got an answer of "tomatoes with black olives and chunks of mozerella....with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and grated pepper". Yeah....well...it's on the grocery list. LOL Maybe later today...YUM!!

ROFL Youse guys crack me up.

In a world where you're guessing and hoping with pages and pages of product descriptions, complete with several tomes of disclaimers(geeze......have you SEEN some of those medication commercials on television with warnings about suicidal/homicidal side effect....LOL....makes ya wanna use THEIR product, huh?!)--'what you see is what you get' is simply, refeshingly WONDERFUL.
And just so you're not feeling alone-- I've been known to get a stern look when I start to pet the cucumbers and squish in the product aisle. LOL From he-who-must-look-proper in social settings.
He saves it for less....public times. *rolling eyes* And then he holds up grapes and asks if they look familiar.
    :-/
    NO.

    k....maybe......... LOLOL

  6. Whoa, what a set of tomatoes! And that cucumber is mean and green!

This combination sounds so delicious and simple, Ron, that I'm a little ashamed of myself for not trying it already, seeing as I'm half-Italian. I simply must treat myself! And when I come to Philly we have to go to the Reading Terminal.

Great post, buddy, have a tremendous weekend, and leave the produce alone!

As you know, I'm Italian too but have literally NO cooking skills. So the only reason I can make this is because it's so simple. But OMG....it tastes BEYONG delicious! My father would sometimes make this during the summer months. He would had fresh basil as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a terrific weekend!

  12. Good morning Secret Agent Woman~

Isn't that first photo DELISH-looking? I didn't take one though, I got it off the web.

" I recently bought a balsamic vinegar glaze and I bet that would be a nice addition. It's nearly tomato-planting time!"

Sounds AWESOME! One of my other readers suggested the same thing - balsamic vinegar. So, I've gotta try that because it sounds like it would be a yummy addition.

"'I've been accused of TMI on occasion On my old blog I told a few stories that had people chiding me for my lack of judgment. But life is too short to always be perfectly sane. Isn't it?"

Exactly! My feeling is as long as the TMI is about me and no one else (unless I have their approval to do so), than I have no reservations about sharing it. Plus, I think it's all in HOW you present it.

Thanks for stopping by, girl. Have a wonderful weekend!

And what's really cool is that it's so simple for someone like me (who doesn't cook). I especially enjoy this dish during the hot summer months because it's very cooling.

"I remember your outing with the girls, but hey I didn't know you'd gone around exposing yourself.... grins. Brill pictures, made me smile. I wish I could have been as uninhibited when I was younger."

We had SO MUCH fun that day! We acted like four giddy kids on an outing. It was SO GREAT to finally meet up with each other and talk in person.

No, but I have to try that because it sounds delicious. I love ranch dressing.

"One of my favorite dishes is sliced tomatoes with mozerella cheese, olive oil and basil leaves."

  59. Hey Ronnie,
You and Meelah are a pair! Too funny :) We got to try going through Reading Terminal market when we come the next time!!
You would love the veggies that we serve on out table too. We serve tomotoes with Bufflone Mozzarella and yes, sometimes with cukes.
Agreed; with olive oil it is the best!!
Take care and savor your day, babe xoxo

  62. OH, I do love tomatoes and cukes, drizzled with oil and a few spices maybe... but, cheese, bread??? What are those things? I hardly remember... *sigh*.
Funny pictures, sure looks like a good time! And the Terminal is thee place to go! Love it, altho haven't been in quite awhile.
There have been many times I've composed a post only to delete it because it just seemed like TMI. Infact, there's one in the draft folder now and it's a doosy but will not be published. LOL

  63. Hey there Mary!

"... but, cheese, bread??? What are those things? I hardly remember... *sigh*."

I know, so many people I know are cutting out the carbs and dairy.

"Funny pictures, sure looks like a good time! And the Terminal is thee place to go! Love it, altho haven't been in quite awhile."

I LOVE the Terminal because it feels as though you're walking through an international food market. I LOVE the variety of food and just the overall atmosphere!

"Infact, there's one in the draft folder now and it's a doosy but will not be published. LOL"

Oh come on...publish it. If I could publish THIS post, yours surely can't be anymore TMI, could it?

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor! Have a maaavelous weekend!
