The old stock exchange building in Society Hill, Philadelphia

First, I would like to thank everyone who submitted a photograph for this theme.

And what I love about these photographs is the variety.

For those of you who missed this photo share, I will be sharing more in the upcoming year with different themes.

So without further ado, I give you…Winter!

Enjoy...

Mark from Mark My Words: "Winter in the Columbia Gorge. This is Horesetail Falls during a recent cold spell."

Jaffer Maniar from ManiaRavings.com: "This was taken last week when we had the big freeze. Everything was covered in ice: Including these ropes and clothespins.

Dale Cooper from Diary of an Internet Nobody: "A giant snowball that was left on a footpath in Rock Park in Barnstaple a couple of years ago, it's about five foot across. Took nearly a week to melt."

Rob from Luna Park Gazette: "This is a sign that a co-worker actually put on her door."

Angelia from Angelia's Photography: "One of the "great" winter storms of my time. Yes, really. Record breaking snowfall in our North Texas town. It is one of my most favorite times out taking photos."

Mel from Mels Dream: "This was Friday morning down the road.....and no, I didn't get to hobble into the snow. I'm a workin' woman and I was already pressing getting to work on time."

Bijoux from Bytes From the Burbs: "This winter photo combines two things that get on my nerves: deer and snow."

Debbie from Musings by an ND Domer's Mom: "I know this doesn't look "wintery," but this is what a Southern winter looks like! Notice the leaves still on the magnolia tree at right and the grass still sort of green! This picture was taken just the other day from Gulfport, MS."

Jean from Jean Has Been Shopping:  "Winter in Arizona (bougainvillea)."

Secret Agent Woman from Blogging Incognito: "I took this one in my front yard last winter - a dogwood branch with the buds encased in ice - I like it as a reminder of the Spring that lies within the Winter."

Valerie From Photo A Day Blog:  "i only drink hot chocolate in the winter and when i do i always top with whipped creme."

Again, thank you everyone! And if you haven't already done so, please visit these blogs because they're really COOL people!

Have a wonderful wintry weekend y'all!
X

P.S. It snowed here in Philadelphia last night (and heavy), so we're covered in it.

  2. Wow....what a lovely collection. Some made me laugh, some made me envious, some made me hold my breath and feel small--and some gave me ideas. LOL I love the diversity. And I love that you gave us an opportunity to come together, here, with you.
I adore winter--Love when it comes, love when it goes. LOL

Enjoy that snowfall. We're doing -21 this morning--so I'm loving the thought of spring. BUT!!!! This will change when we get another dose of snowman snow. :-)
Thanks for letting us decorate your web log with bits of our lives.

  3. Hey, Ron, thanks so much for including my photo! I'm truly honored to be in such great company.

These bloggers submitted incredible work! I really love the skill and creativity that went into these amazing images.

I've made no secret of my distain for winter, but you and all these other talented folks here have warmed up my heart on this bitter cold day.

    Take care!

  4. They are all pretty or interesting or both. The taglines are all good and make the pictures even better if that's possible. Some of the pictures are just awesome.

I'm betting you are enjoying the snow. I've heard we might be getting snow this coming week. It's already much colder. My cat came in last night and shivered. He wanted out this morning and stayed for about an hour. I'm wondering how he will react to the snow as he's never seen it.

  5. Considering I'm suffering through 'Hercules' (how annoying is it that they are naming snowstorms now?), I'll just say "nice photos" and go back to my shoveling.

  7. Oh @#$%! I missed the deadline! I'm happy so many other people are more on top of things than I am. 2014 has not begun quite the way I'd hoped. I'm already behind schedule, our hot water heater broke, SIL slid off the icy road, our garage door opener motor shot craps and hubby's glasses broke! Awesome!! Happy New Year! BTW, these are fantastical shots one and all. I enjoyed seeing them.

  8. Superb collection. Time for a Hot Chocolate and Whipped Cream.

How are things in Philly ? We are under a deep freeze here. Our windows and doors have accumulated ice - ON THE INSIDE !

  9. Ron, what a fabulous selection of photographs! I love each one of them for different reasons. It was funny to see the contrast between the ones with snow and ice, then suddenly see the two from MS and Arizona. That bougainvillea is gorgeous!

I saw on the news that you got hit with a lot of snow and I knew where happy!

Have a wonderful weekend, Ron. Enjoy the snow!x

  10. Hello there Jeanne!

Aren't the photos FABULOUS? And I loved that there was a nice variety. I LOVE sharing these photo shares!

And HAPPY NEW YEAR to you too, my friend. No worries, I know everyone has been so busy with Christmas and New Year's, so I understand. It took me a few days to decompress from all the insanity of working retail this year. I'm so glad to have this month off so I can just relax and catch up.

    Have a super weekend!

X to you and the girlz!

HA! The temp here is 15 this morning. Last night it SNOWED like the dickens. Today however, the sun is shining, so the snow on the ground looks so BRIGHT! Later today, I'm doing to go out and take some photos!

Thanks for stopping by, dear lady. Have a SUPER weekend!

It was a pleasure and honor to include your photo in this share. And I love that's so different!

" I really love the skill and creativity that went into these amazing images."

    Yes, aren't they FAAAAAAAAAAABULOUS?

"I've made no secret of my distain for winter, but you and all these other talented folks here have warmed up my heart on this bitter cold day."

HA! Aw...thanks, buddy! Yes, it's FREEZING here this morning too (15 degrees). However, the sun is out, so all the snow that fell last night is bright and glowing!

Much thanks for stopping by, Rob. Have a terrific weekend!

  13. Hello there David!

"The taglines are all good and make the pictures even better if that's possible."

Yes, don't ya just LOVE the taglines? They add a bit of story to the images.

" I've heard we might be getting snow this coming week. It's already much colder. My cat came in last night and shivered. He wanted out this morning and stayed for about an hour. I'm wondering how he will react to the snow as he's never seen it."

HA! Aren't cats funny? I had two cats when I lived in Florida, and even though they were indoor cats, they were not too terribly fond of when it would get cold during the winter. They never got the chance to see snow, but I always wondered HOW they would react if they did.

It snowed here very hard last night (about 5-10 inches), however, today the sun is out so all the snow looks so white and bright. It's about 15 degrees. Later, I'm going to head out and snap some photos.

Much thanks for stopping by, buddy. Have a super weekend!

I know....can you believe the name???? And oh boy...did it ever snow a lot last night. The heaviest was from 9 PM to 4 AM. Today however, the sun is out, the sky is blue, so all the snow is glowing. And it's cold....15 degrees!

"I'll just say "nice photos" and go back to my shoveling"

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO! However, perhaps it's a sign that you're going to have an awesome 2014 because you're getting all the hard stuff out of the way first. And it's gonna get better.

"How are things in Philly ? We are under a deep freeze here. Our windows and doors have accumulated ice - ON THE INSIDE !"

Well, we got hit with a TON of cold temps and snow yesterday (5-10 inches in some areas). However, today the sun is out and the sky is bright blue. It's cold though (15 degrees). Later, I will be heading outside to get some photographs.

Thanks for stopping by, buddy. Have a super weekend!

" It was funny to see the contrast between the ones with snow and ice, then suddenly see the two from MS and Arizona. That bougainvillea is gorgeous!"

HA! Yes, I thought the same thing - such a HUGE contrast to the others. I love the color of the bougainvillea against the beautiful blue sky!

"I saw on the news that you got hit with a lot of snow and I knew where happy!"

Yup, a ton (5-10 inches in some areas). And boy, it came down like a blizzard yesterday. The heaviest was from 9 PM until 4 AM. The wind was wicked. However, today the sun is shining and the sky is bright blue. But it's cold (15 degrees). Later, I'll be heading out to get some photographs.

  21. Hiya Matt!

Yes, isn't this an awesome collection of photographs????

Mark had posted that photograph on his own blog several weeks ago and I loved it. So, when he sent it in for this photo share, I was so happy because I was secretly hoping he would!

"And I love how the last photograph is of a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream on top. Perfect ending for a winter photo share, dude!"

HA! And it's so ironic how that turned out because Val's photo was the last one sent it. I agree...it's a perfect ending photo for this share!

I found that quote online a few days ago, while Googling "quotes celebrating the beauty of winter." I LOVE that quote.

Much thanks for stopping by, bud! Have a grrrrrrreat weekend!

  23. What a great idea and I LOVED every one of these magical winter photos. It's one of my fav seasons, so sad that many people loathe winter.
There is something about this time of year (especially with snow of course!) that calms me down, slows down my usual frantic pace and puts me in a contemplative mood. these photos all bring those good things to mind too.
I'd love to participate in your next photo share, didn't know about this one, must have missed that post. :<(
Happy 2014 Ron and all the best, in every way.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one NOT experiencing snow over the holidays. Do I miss it? Sorry, not one tiny bit! It's a pain having to shovel three and four times a day, not to mention warming up and cleaning off the Sheltie when he ventures back inside. Much better to experience its "headaches" from far away, ha!
    Have a super weekend, Ron!

  34. Gosh, I don't know, Babs?! I've been having occasional issues with my blog feed, so some of my readers are getting delays and also no updates. I use Feedburner, and there has been some issues with resyncing my Blogger feed (Atom) with Feedburner (RSS). It's been happening with other people as well.

I also discovered that the Feedburner feed I was using to PING my blog was wrong, so I changed it. Maybe that will resolve the issue.

Anyway, I will be hosting more photo shares this year so you'll be able to submit one of your faaaaabulous photos then!

  36. Ron, what a great array of photographs for this theme! They're all really, really fabuloso! Jeez...that first photo of the waterfall gave me chills just looking at that ice. What a gorgeous photograph! And it's such a huge contrast to some of the other more warmer winters. Hard to believe that we all experience the seasons so differently.

And I bet you're enjoying the snow you got last night. I saw that you got a lot. Enjoy, Ron, because I know you're loving it!

HA! I know! Isn't it funny how the seasons (especially winter) are experienced differently in various parts of the globe? If you put some of these pictures next to other ones, it looks like the comparison between winter and summer!

Yup, we got hit with a TON of snow last night. The heaviest was from 9 PM til 4 AM. When I got up this morning, the city was covered in white stuff! I went this afternoon and took photos, and after about being out there for 10 minutes, my jaw actually FROZE. It was about 15 degrees today!

Thanks for stopping by, buddy. Have a terrific weekend!

  38. Glad to hear you're covered in it, Ron! It's been sunny all week in Nevada, but at least we've had several inches of snow on the ground in Ely, so it's felt like a winter wonderland nonetheless. Plus, the temperatures at night have been dropping to the teens or colder, which also helps.

Thanks for sharing these photos. I love them all - especially the clothes line and frozen clothes pins!

  39. Heeeeeey there Mark!

"Glad to hear you're covered in it, Ron!"

OMG...we got slammed last night. And today, because of the freezing temps, a lot of the snow has turned to glaciers! It was only 15 degrees today!

" Plus, the temperatures at night have been dropping to the teens or colder, which also helps."

Yup, that's what I love about Nevada. No matter how warm it is during the day, the nights drop down to a nice chill.

"I love them all - especially the clothes line and frozen clothes pins!"

Isn't that the COOLEST shot? You can feel the cold just from looking at it.

Thanks so much for submitting your photo for this winter share, buddy. Loved having it here!

  40. How absolutely beautiful! I wish I had been around to participate! I think my favorite is the deer statues. My neighbor's house was sadly foreclosed on a few years ago and she wanted me to take the deer from her front yard... they are broken up, missing antlers, but still there and look just like those guys!

Oh boy, did we ever get hit hard Thursday night. And then yesterday was so cold, that the snow just froze into glaciers. I have a feeling that January is going to be a big snow month for us, here in the north east.

  47. Yup, I was watching the weather channel online this morning and saw that this whole half of the US is getting a lot of snow. It hasn't snowed here in days, but the temps are FREEZING, so all the snow has turned to ice.

  48. Those are some really cool captures! It was interesting to see the effects of the cold snap that's currently battering the east coast. Heck, even the icicles on the clothesline was fascinating. Living in San Diego I never see these sorts of things.

  49. Hey there Herman!

"It was interesting to see the effects of the cold snap that's currently battering the east coast."

OMG, let me tell ya...it's FREEZING here on east coast. I think this is probably the coldest January I've experienced since being back. I don't mind the cold, but the snow has frozen solid; making driving or walking very dangerous.

"Heck, even the icicles on the clothesline was fascinating."

Isn't that the COOLEST shot? Jaffer lives in Canada.

  50. What a great collaboration and I love how you brought your readers together like this.

Quite a contrast from one area to another. From flowers in bloom to deep snow. Except for a couple of weeks of butt freezing cold, it's been a pretty mild late fall and winter so far. Suits me just fine I might add!

Funny how when the thermometer dips I always think, "This is Ron weather."

Funny how when the thermometer dips I always think, "This is Ron weather."
