First, allow me to share that I’ve been using Verizon as my landline phone and internet provider for the past 14 years. And up until about 3 years ago, when I started having issues with losing my phone and internet service 3-4 times a year, I had always been happy with Verizon.
Many of you will probably remember that two years ago (and ironically in July), I had no phone or internet service for TWO weeks and required that Verizon pay me back by taking two weeks off my monthly bill. Which they did, but only because I insisted.
Since then, I still have times when I lose either my phone or internet service for a day or so, or lose them at the same time.
Last week I had another issue with losing my phone service. And since I don’t have a cell phone, I created a repair ticket online and was given a repair date of Tuesday, July 28th. Well, THEY NEVER FIXED IT. So, I called them on Wednesday from work and spoke to a service representative who said that the next available repair date would be on Sunday, August 2nd, to which I said, “No way, I’m not waiting until Sunday to get my service restore. Verizon said that someone would be out to fix my phone on Tuesday and they didn’t follow through. Therefore, for that terrible inconvenience, I think you need to send a repairman out to my apartment by TOMORROW or I will be looking for another service provider.”
The customer service representative agreed with me and said that he would do his best to send someone out on Thursday and that he apologized for the inconvenience.
Well, guess what? IT'S FRIDAY AND I STILL HAVE NO PHONE.
I’ve been without phone service for a week, so can I just tell you how FED UP I am with Verizon?
Truly, over the past several years, Verizon’s service has gone quickly downhill. What used to be a very reliable and consistent company, has turned completely the opposite.
Even their My Verizon website has been an inconvenience lately because many times there are technical issues whenever I go there to check my emails. Also, it’s extremely SLOW to load.
Yes, I am at my wits' end with Verizon and have only one thing to say…
Verizon…what a HUGE disappointment you are!
And you better start shaping up because you’re bound to lose a lot of customers.
Oh, and one more thing. I think it’s hysterical that Verizon had the nerve to send me a customer service questionnaire in an email; asking that I rate my repair experience with them.
And the first question was:
“How likely is it that you would recommend Verizon to a friend or colleague?”
Bwhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
And do you know what my answer was?
0 – not at all likely
Have a grrrreat weekend everyone!

Update (8/3): Just wanted to let you know that when I got home from work last night, my phone service was finally restored. Yay! And it only took Verizon over a week to fix it.
I totally agree Ron! Although my experience with them is very limited right now...only my husband's cell phone remains with Verizon. His kids and his siblings are all on Verizon. They also offer a Senior Plan for $35 a month that includes 200 minutes. It works for him. We do not have a home phone and my cell service is with Sprint. I have been with them a very LONG time! Like 16 years! None of the CS reps can believe I have stayed that long! 😳 I suspect I will stay for now as nobody comes close to my unlimited plan! I sure do hope you get something in return for your inconvenience!! They just don't get it! Happy Weekend Ron! Xo Jeanne and the girls
ReplyDeleteI understand your frustration, Ron. There's nothing more frustrating than having to deal with big businesses who suddenly don't know their business. What chance do we have against them?
ReplyDeleteWe have several providers here but we stick to the one we have most faith in. Some people swap and change and they end up regretting it. We've had issues over losing broadband but it was always fixed in a day.
Talking about big businesses who become unreliable... remember my Hoover washing machine? It was never put right and after two years (of hell) it finally bit the dust. So now I'm happy again with a new machine.
Hope you have a trouble-free weekend x
That is the worst, Ron! I feel your pain. I had similar problems when I had AT&T for landline and Internet. They would give the most vague answers for why my service was going out and once, I had to explain how the filter THEY installed worked to one of the 'service people' they sent out. They were never on time and it would take a week for them to come out. Also, I had to pitch a fit to get a credit on my bill.
ReplyDeleteAll this to say......DO NOT go with AT&T. I don't know what your choices are, but for Internet, we've had very good luck with the cable companies here (Cox and TWC). Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be!
Hey there Jeanne!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of YOU when this happened to me because of what you went through a few weeks ago with Time Warner. It seems that no matter what provider we have, there will always be problems. I can understand having technical issues occasionally, however I've been having issues (phone and internet) with Verizon A LOT and I am so over it.
"my cell service is with Sprint. I have been with them a very LONG time! Like 16 years! None of the CS reps can believe I have stayed that long!"
That's awesome! I've heard from other people that Sprint is a very good (and reliable) cell phone provider. I'm sincerely thinking that I should drop my landline phone service and just get a cell phone and go with another internet provider.
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your feedback, my friend. Have a super weekend!
X to you and the girlz
Good morning Valerie!
ReplyDelete"What chance do we have against them?"
I know, and that's the frustrating part about this.
"We have several providers here but we stick to the one we have most faith in. Some people swap and change and they end up regretting it. We've had issues over losing broadband but it was always fixed in a day."
I've always been very happy with Verizon's service up until about 3 years ago, however, these technical issues (oss of service) seem to be happening more frequently. And what is really frustrating and annoying is that they seem to be taking their sweet old time fixing them. I also use broadband.
"remember my Hoover washing machine? It was never put right and after two years (of hell) it finally bit the dust. So now I'm happy again with a new machine."
Yes, I do remember the problems you had with your Hoover washing machine. Glad to hear you've got a new one and are happy with it :)
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a terrific weekend!
X to you and Joe
"All this to say......DO NOT go with AT&T."
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your feedback on AT&T because I was actually thinking of changing over to them.
"I don't know what your choices are, but for Internet, we've had very good luck with the cable companies here (Cox and TWC)."
Yes, both of those cable services are available here in Philly. My apartment building is actually set up with cables for Comcast, so I may look into changing my internet service over to them and then getting a separate cell phone with another provider. Although, I've heard a lot of pro and cons about Comcast.
Yes, this has been sooooo frustrating!#*!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a terrific weekend!
X
Oh Ron, I know your frustration because I had similar issues with Verizon before switching over to Comcast for internet and TV. I can't say that Comcast is without issues, but they're quick to fix them and they don't seem to happen as much as with Verizon. I too was always very happy with Verizon, but over the years they've gotten bad.
ReplyDeleteWe use Sprint for our cell phone provider and are very happy with them.
Sure hope you get this phone issue repaired soon. I can't believe it's been a WEEK. Be sure to make them repay you for the inconvenience.
Ron, I would be so pissed if I lost my phone service for a week! I cannot believe they haven't fixed it yet. I use Time Warner for my internet and TV service and have been very happy (so far). I use AT&T for my phone service, but am thinking of switching over to Sprint because I'm not at all happy with their customer service.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Ron. And I hope they get your phone service restored soon. I'v'e heard other people complain about Verizon as well.
Have a wonderful weekend x
Hey there Elaine!
ReplyDelete"I know your frustration because I had similar issues with Verizon before switching over to Comcast. I can't say that Comcast is without issues, but they're quick to fix them and they don't seem to happen as much as with Verizon."
Yes, I've heard others say the same thing about Comcast. When my brother first switch over to Comcast, he had some problems. However, his service seems to be pretty consistent and reliable now. My apartment building is already set up with cables for Comcast, so I may switch over to them for my internet provider and then just get a cell phone.
"I can't believe it's been a WEEK. Be sure to make them repay you for the inconvenience."
I sure will! As of today, it's been OVER a week!
Thank so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantastic weekend!
X
Hola Denise!
ReplyDeleteOMG...you have no idea how pissed I am. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!#$?! As of today, it's been OVER a week! Thank god I at least have my internet service or I would be BONKERS. However last week, I did have to reboot my internet modem because I kept getting knocked offline a few times.
" I use AT&T for my phone service, but am thinking of switching over to Sprint because I'm not at all happy with their customer service."
I've heard very positive feedback on Sprint.
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, girl. I'll keep you guys posted as to when I finally get my phone service restored. Have a super weekend!

Poor Ron. No wonder you've been AWOL from here -- and I've missed your sunny presence!
ReplyDeleteI guess I've been lucky. I had Sprint for several years but when Domer went off to college, I switched to Verizon. He had Verizon, and we assumed our connections would be better. They were fine, so we both stayed with them. And, knock on wood, we've both been happy with their service.
However, you apparently aren't the only one having trouble. Periodically, I read reviews of phone service, and LOTS of people are unhappy with their carrier (and it doesn't seem to matter which company they're doing business with). Golly, you'd think folks in service industries would try harder, wouldn't you??
Here's hoping you get some resolution SOON -- happy weekend, my friend!
Good God, Ron, this is the 21st Century and you cant get a working landline? Maybe you should set up two tins on a string.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea Verizon was so awful and I'm so glad you wrote this post because I was thinking of switching from Time Warner (which is no bargain either). You got to get rid of these phonies! Hope they fix your phone soon, buddy! Take care
I've had Sprint for cell service for probably 15 years. Long ago, I had billing problems with them, but am happy now. I will say, only switch to them if you have a Sprint store near you where you can go in and get REAL customer service, in person. I've been super happy with my in- store service over the last two years. I think they finally realized we don't want to talk to a rep over the phone from India.
ReplyDeleteHi Ron!
ReplyDeleteGuess what I was in your city... What do you think of my impressions?http://www.makinen.fr/susa/wordpress/2015/07/30/philadelphia/
Ron, we used to use Verizon up until about a year ago and switched to Comcast for our internet and TV service and we've been very happy with them. I too had major issues with Verizon as far as our internet connection was concerned and losing service. Also, their prices kept going up each year. My girlfriend and I both have cell phones and use Sprint and we love them!
ReplyDeleteSure hope you get this issue resolved. I would have a fit if I lost my phone service for a week.
The best to you, dude!
" I will say, only switch to them if you have a Sprint store near you where you can go in and get REAL customer service, in person. I've been super happy with my in- store service over the last two years. I think they finally realized we don't want to talk to a rep over the phone from India."
ReplyDeleteHA! Yes, I am so over being transferred to India and having to talk to someone that I can hardly understand. Thanks again for the feedback on Sprint. And yes, we do have several Sprint stores in Philly, so if I decided to change over to a cell phone and ditch my landline I will definitely go to a store, rather than do it over the phone.

Hellooooooo there Debbie!
ReplyDeleteActually, I didn't lose my internet service only my phone service. And the reason I haven't been posting as much this summer is because of my new job and working longer hours. My whole schedule has changed. Also, I've had out-of-town guests visiting, so I just haven't had the time to post as much. I will get back to posting twice a week after the summer.
"They were fine, so we both stayed with them. And, knock on wood, we've both been happy with their service."
That's AWESOME! Glad to hear you haven't had any issues with them. I think because I still have a landline phone connected to my internet service, that's where I'm having trouble. Sometimes I lose one, and other times I lose both at the same time.
" Golly, you'd think folks in service industries would try harder, wouldn't you??"
Yes, you would think so, wouldn't you? Supposedly they are coming out AGAIN tomorrow, so I may have my phone service restored by the end of the day. Fingers crossed.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Happy weekend!

Hello there Susu!
ReplyDeleteI will be sure to stop by tonight or sometime tomorrow to check out your post. Can't wait! Hope you had a great time in Philly!
Have a super weekend, my friend, and thanks for stopping by!

" Maybe you should set up two tins on a string."
ReplyDeleteBwhahahahahaha! Rob, it's so funny you said that because I said the same thing to someone at work last week! And I bet a string and two cans would be more reliable :)
Verizon use to be such a great phone and internet provider. But over the past three years they've gotten really bad with reliability. And I am so over it.
They are coming out AGAIN tomorrow, so hopefully I will have my phone restored by the end of the day.
Have a super weekend, buddy, and thanks for stopping by!

Hiya Matt!
ReplyDelete"I too had major issues with Verizon as far as our internet connection was concerned and losing service."
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has had issues with Verizon. I may be switching over to Comcast for my internet provider and then getting a separate cell phone with Sprint.
"Sure hope you get this issue resolved. I would have a fit if I lost my phone service for a week."
Thank god I didn't lose my internet service as well because at least I've been able to email friends and family to let them know that I have no phone service.
Supposedly they are coming out AGAIN tomorrow to fix my phone, so hopefully I'll have my phone restored by tomorrow evening.
Have a great weekend, buddy, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Ron, this is horrible! I can't believe they haven't restored your service and that it's already been a week! Boy, would I be angry. I started with Verizon DSL when I first got online but then changed to Comcast cable. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it because it's much faster. I also have my TV service through them. I had some issues when I first got it hooked up, but haven't had any problems since then. My cell phone provider is T-Mobile and I've been very happy with them.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope they get this issue resolved soon.
"I can't believe they haven't restored your service and that it's already been a week! Boy, would I be angry."
ReplyDeleteOh Robert, you have no idea how angry I am. It took every bit of strength not to freak out on the service representative when I spoke to him on the phone Wednesday. I just got another notice when I called to get my voice mails at work today, and was told that they would be out sometime tomorrow to restore my phone service. So, hopefully I'll have it back on by tomorrow night.
" It's a bit pricey but it's worth it because it's much faster. I also have my TV service through them."
I'm seriously thinking about changing over to Comcast for my internet provider because my apartment building is already established with the cables. And I'm also thinking about getting a cell phone instead of a landline phone because I need a phone service that's more reliable.
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a super weekend!

I don't think there's any company that is perfect - people find fault with every provider, so I won't try to sing the praises of mine. As soon as I do, I'm liable to have a dropped call or the cable will go out, so...you know...I'd rather not jinx things. Hope your weekend was a good one otherwise!
ReplyDeleteHiya Mark!
ReplyDeleteTrue, there is no company that is perfect. However, when you lose service 3-4 times a year and they don't seem to care about how quickly they repair it, I think it shows that a company is slipping in customer service and it may be time to change to another provider that's more reliable.
Oh and btw, they did FINALLY fixed it today. I got home from work and my phone was back on. And it only took OVER a week.
"I won't try to sing the praises of mine. As soon as I do, I'm liable to have a dropped call or the cable will go out, so...you know...I'd rather not jinx things."
HA! You're probably right. However, I'm glad to hear that you like your provider :)
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Hope your weekend was faaaaabulous!
X to you and Tara
Ugh! I hate bad customer service. It might be time to switch to another operator...
ReplyDeleteHey there Fiona!
ReplyDelete" It might be time to switch to another operator..."
Yes, it is. I've been looking into other options for my internet service, and am thinking of finally breaking down and getting a cell phone. That way I can get rid of my landline phone.
I may be doing that by the end of the month.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantabulous week!
X
Unfortunately that seems to be how it is with all phone/Internet carriers. They just don't care....they know we'll put up with their poor customer service because there's not really a better competitor out there. We're close to ditching our land lines simply because of all the ridiculous charges/taxes every month. The only reason we keep it is for the Internet. We have Sprint for mobile phone service because they are the only ones with a true unlimited phone/text/data plan. But their CS sucks too.
ReplyDelete"Unfortunately that seems to be how it is with all phone/Internet carriers. They just don't care...."
ReplyDeleteYes Lisa, it seems to be that way, doesn't it?
"We're close to ditching our land lines simply because of all the ridiculous charges/taxes every month."
I'm at that point as well. And you're right, the charges and taxes go up and up several times a year. In fact, when I look at all the charges and taxes on my bill each month, they end up being almost HALF the bill.
Thanks for letting me know about your experience with Sprint. I'm actually looking at either Sprint or T-Mobile for my cell phone provider.
Have a super weekend, my friend. And thanks so much for stopping by!

Helloooo there Suzanne!
ReplyDelete"being without phone or internet service is the worst, isn't it? Because it feels as though you've been cut off from the rest of the world."
Yes, it DOES feel that way. Thank god it was only my phone and not my internet too because two years ago, I lost them BOTH at the same time for TWO weeks.
Sunday night when I got home from work and found that my phone had been restored, I was extremely happy.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great rest of your week!

Ahhhhh verizon. I have unlimited data on my phone... an iphone 5. Sadly, the stupid cheap iphone battery works for about an hour and dies. They admitted they sold dud iphones and said you can plug in your serial number to see if yours is. I put mine in and it said, "Why yes, your phone is one of them but you already had your battery replaced." Ummmm NOOOOO I DID NOT!!!! They have all these specials where you turn in your iphone 5 for a FREE six. Yea, free... sure. If I trade up to anything guess what they do? They take away my unlimited data. If I want a new phone and want to keep my unlimited data I have to buy one full price. Like I would buy a phone for 600. Please.
ReplyDeleteLol they messed with the wrong blogger! I certainly wont be switching over to Verizon anytime soon after reading this!
ReplyDeleteBTW HI!! Missed you my friend!

ReplyDeleteOMG Katherine, what a PAIN IN THE ASS. I don't have a cell phone, so I only use Verizon for my landline phone and internet service. However, I do know people who do use Verizon for their cell phone service and have had negative experiences. And it's sad because I use to LOVE Verizon and was very happy with their service. But they have gone to downhill over the past 3-4 years.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaaaaabulous week!

ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so great to see ya, Shae!!!! I was so HAPPY to see your comment because you've been on my mind the past few months, wondering how you were. Hope all is well and that you're enjoying a SUPER summer!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend! Miss you too!

I feel your pain. I hate it when my phone goes out. It has everything I need in it.
ReplyDeleteJust saw your PS, Ron, I think it was dated the 8th. So, do we get to see one of your fabulous posts quite soon. YOU HAVE BEEN MISSED, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHey Ron, just popping in to say hello and to let you know that you are missed when you don't post!! I sure do hope that you have had your phone service restored by this time!! Just checking in...xo Jeanne
ReplyDeleteugh. verizon. it's like the necessary evil. we aren't happy with them, but HATE the other providers in our area more, haha. And for where we are unfortunately Verizon is the only place that gets decent service where we are :/ But I agree, the worst thing about a company is not following through on what they say - trustability! In my business my motto is to under promise and over deliver. ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG, isn't it the PITTS? And there have been times when I've lost both my phone AND internet service at once. It happened to me about two years ago UGH!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! Hope you're having a faaaaaabulous summer!

Helloooooooooo Valerie!
ReplyDeleteYes, I posted that update on August 3rd, but haven't posted since then. My new job has me very busy right now and my schedule is different every week - sometimes I work very early; sometimes I go in later and then work later. My whole schedule has shifted within the past four weeks, so I've gotten off-sync with my blog posting.
I will most likely post again on this coming Monday because I have the day off.
Thanks soooooooo much for stopping by and for your concern. Have a grrreat rest of your week and weekend!
X to you and Joe
Hello there Jeanne!
ReplyDeleteAw....thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet words, my friend
For the past four weeks, I've been very busy at work. And not only that, but my work schedule has changed and changes every week; therefore my blog posting schedule has gotten off-sync. And with being so busy, I haven't been spending at much time online. But, I will most likely post again on this coming Monday because I have the day off :)
Again, that's for checking in, Jeanne! Have a great rest of your week and weekend!
X to you and the girlz
Hey there Brit!
ReplyDelete"But I agree, the worst thing about a company is not following through on what they say - trustability!"
Yes, exactly! And I think that's the thing that concerns me the most with Verizon. They used to be so good at following through and being reliable. However, over the past several years they've gotten so careless.
"In my business my motto is to under promise and over deliver. ;)"
OMG...I LOVE that! GREAT motto!!!!
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, girl. Have a super weekend!

Well that all right then..... good to know you're okay and the internet connection is okay and it's just work that keeps you off line. Yep, that's fine! Have a great day x
ReplyDeleteHello there Valerie!
ReplyDeleteSorry it took so long to respond to your comment, but the day after I left you that comment, I came down with the WORST flu that knocked me off my feet for days. I even had to miss two days of work because I was way to sick to get out of bed. Thank god I have the two days off because I need the rest. I'm feeling much better today, but still not 100%.
Hopefully within the next couple of days I will be able to catch up on everyone's blog posts and post myself.
Have a great Monday and week, dear lady!
X to you and Joe
