*me, pretending to be freaked out about the blizzard
Funny, I'm currently sitting in Starbucks typing this post about the blizzard we had last month, whilst looking out the window at snow falling from the sky. Yup, it's snowing again. Not nearly as hard as it was during the blizzard, but it IS snowing. Yahoooo!
I'm sure it's the same where you live, this winter has been extremely psychotic. Blizzards one day, with people walking around in Eskimo suits. The next day it's 79 degrees, with people walking around in tank tops, shorts and flip-flops. We've had some very cold days the last couple of weeks. And when I say cold, I mean ARCTIC cold. Last week while walking to work, I thought my ears were going to SNAP off my head and drop to the ground like two frozen ear-popcicles. However, I'm not complaining one bit because I love winter and would much rather be cold than hot. So I'm going to cherish and celebrate every single cold and snowy day for however long they last. I have a feeling that winter days will be returning throughout March. And in previous years, I've even seen it snow in APRIL. So don't put your winter clothes away just yet.
On the day of the blizzard, I bundled up warm and grabbed both my cell phone camera and Canon, and then ran outside to capture as much of the blizzard as I could in a few hours. The wind was so severe, I feared that I would be picked up and blown away like Sally Field in The Flying Nun...
OMG.... I had so much fun walking (and flying) through the snowy streets!!!!!!
Here, take a look....
My snowy boots
Most people preferred to walk in the streets because the sidewalks had heaps of snowdrifts on them
I love this shot because they look like two snow-zombies walking down a deserted street
This place has faaaaaaabulous brick-oven pizza
Glad to see I wasn't the only person taking pictures
Icicles hanging from a window frame at Walgreens
City Hall
Have a blessed and holy week, y'all!

LOVE your snow pics! And, yeah - I'm jealous. It's been really warm here. Sigh. But at least all the cherry trees are in full pink bloom. It definitely looks like Spring.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the cold and snow, my friend! I guess we'll have to wait for next winter out here.
Ron, the bit about feeling like Sally Field in The Flying Nun made me laugh. I love the picture of you at the end. Oh how I remember that show! And to think how silly that show was and yet how it launched her career. Who knew back then that she was such an excellent actress?
ReplyDeleteI remember the blizzard you speak of last month. My husband and I were snowed in because the damn Philadelphia snowplows pushed all that snow up to our front door (I live in South Philly) so it not only blocked us in but it also covered our car. It took days for the snow to melt until we could use the car. But like you, I enjoy winter, cold weather and the snow. And I also think we're not done with the winter yet. I don't put my winter clothes away until at least May.
Great pictures! I really love the one of the water drops on the window.
Have a great week, Sister Ronetta Lol!
Thanks, Mark :)
ReplyDeleteWe've had the strangest winter. Like you, we've had very warm days in December, January, and even February. It's been the wimpiest winter I've ever experienced. I'm very grateful for the snow that we got, but you know me....I like winter's with a TON of snow and a TON of cold weather.
I seriously think I need to move to Alaska - ha!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a fantabulous week!
X to you and Tara
Hello there Elaine!
ReplyDelete"And to think how silly that show was and yet how it launched her career. Who knew back then that she was such an excellent actress?"
Yes, you are so right about that! For being such a silly show, it was a big break for Sally Field. And can you believe how long ago that show was on? It was back in the late 60's!
"the damn Philadelphia snowplows pushed all that snow up to our front door (I live in South Philly) so it not only blocked us in but it also covered our car. It took days for the snow to melt until we could use the car."
OMG...the same thing happened to several of the people I work with who also live in South Philly. In fact, one of them couldn't get their car out of the snow for a WEEK because it was buried so deep in the snow.
Thanks :) I took that photograph from inside Walgreen's.
Have a super week, neighbor. And thanks for stopping by!

Wow, what great snow pics, Ron! The first collage of you is so cute. You're adorable! I really miss the season of winter. I never minded the cold or the snow, especially the first snowfall of winter. Living in Florida, you don't get the change of seasons and I miss that.
ReplyDeleteI love the last two photographs. The snow looks so pretty!
Have a wonderful week, Ron x
P.S. Hilarious picture of you as Sister Ronetta!
The weather has changed so drastically and global wide, Ron. I remember a time when we would get snow in November. I also remember when I was a kid and it being so cold on Halloween night that we had to wear a coat to go Trick or Treating in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteYour snow pictures are just great!
Gosh, Sally Field, I remember her well.
ReplyDeleteThe snow pics are great but I'm glad those scenes weren't where I live. Yes we've had a strange winter, in fact here in March it's only just arrived. Snow in some parts of the UK but not where I am, thank goodness. Mind you, today is sunny but flippin' freezing. I have all the fires on and still can't get warm. I have a new pet, a cat, which I will blog about later.... now why did I mention that? Oh yes, it's because he doesn't like the extreme cold - and who can blame him? Happy Monday, my friend x
Hola Denise!
ReplyDeleteThank you:) Aren't I a silly man?
"Living in Florida, you don't get the change of seasons and I miss that."
I felt the same way. After living there for 20 years, I longed for the change of seasons. I'm sooooo glad I moved back to the Northeast!
Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a super-duper week!
X,
Sister Ronetta
Greetings Candice!
ReplyDelete"The weather has changed so drastically and global wide, Ron. "
Yes, you're absolutely right, the weather has not only changed here in the US, but also everywhere in the world.
" I also remember when I was a kid and it being so cold on Halloween night that we had to wear a coat to go Trick or Treating in my neighborhood."
OMG...me too! I remember when I was a kid and would go ice skating on a frozen pond in October. Now is doesn't get really cold until January or February. In fact, the past couple of years it's been very warm in October.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantastic week!

Gooood morning Valerie!
ReplyDeleteHA! Remember Sally Field in The Flying Nun? I used to want to be like her and have the ability to fly!
" Yes we've had a strange winter, in fact here in March it's only just arrived. Snow in some parts of the UK but not where I am, thank goodness. Mind you, today is sunny but flippin' freezing."
Yes, this strange weather is happening everywhere. It's been cold for the past week, however, on Wednesday it supposed to go up to 80 degrees?!?
"I have a new pet, a cat, which I will blog about later.... now why did I mention that? Oh yes, it's because he doesn't like the extreme cold - and who can blame him? "
OMG, I can't wait to hear all about him and see photos on your blog. I love cats! And yes, you're right...cats do like to be warm.
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Happy Monday!

Look up in the sky, it's a bird...it's a plane...it's Sister Ronetta?!?!
ReplyDeleteYou took some really beautiful photos, Ron, but you saved the best--and the weirdest--for last! Love these images and I'm sorry to say, but you're probably right about winter days returning in March.
Ugh!
I do hate winter but your great pictures and wacky sense of humor make the cold weather just a little bit more bearable! Take care, buddy, and have a great week!
Glad you're enjoying the snow, Ron, feel free to keep it over there, I hate the stuff.
ReplyDeleteHA! You're not alone, Dale, many people feel the way you do. They hate the stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a faaaaaabulous week!
X
"Look up in the sky, it's a bird...it's a plane...it's Sister Ronetta?!?!"
ReplyDeleteBwhahahahahaha! Rob, that made me HOWL! You are too funny!
Yes, I have a feeling that winter days will be returning this month. Perhaps even a few in April. Yet, today it's warm and sunny. Wednesday it's supposed to reach 76!
Yup, I think most people hate the cold, the snow, and winter. I am in the MAJOR minority.
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a grrrreat week and say hello to NY for me!
X
Ron, even though I don't like winter (the cold and snow), your enjoyment of it is contagious because I find myself getting excited for you. I wish I felt the way you did because it would make going through the season much easier. But I will say that it wasn't a rough winter because we got breaks from the severe cold. And we hardly got any snow.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures! I can feel the cold in them Lol!
You make a great nun!
Ron, these photos make me shiver from the cold! Unlike you, I don't need or want any more snow -- we've had plenty, and now they can just turn it off and turn on the sunshine!! Still, I find myself enjoying your scenes (probably because I don't have to bundle up against the cold, ha!)
ReplyDeleteI especially love "Sister Ronetta" flying through the mountains! "She" looks like she's having a whale of a good time up there!
Today, we've got rain...lots of it...and I have to keep reminding myself, At least I'm not shoveling!!
Happy week to you! xo
Hey ho Robert!
ReplyDelete"I wish I felt the way you did, it would make going through the season much easier. "
I know that I'm in the MAJOR minority when it comes to winter and all the things that go along with it. But OMG...I love it :) And you're right, this winter wasn't rough at all because we had short periods of cold and snow, and then several days of unseasonable warm days.
Thank you. I had so much fun taking these pics!
Have a super week, buddy. And thanks so much for stopping by!

Helloooooooo there Debbie!
ReplyDeleteYes, I knew when I posted this that MANY of you would be in disagreement with me about the winter, the cold and the snow. Gosh, for as much as I love winter, I can't believe I lived in Florida for TWENTY years?!?!?!
"I especially love "Sister Ronetta" flying through the mountains! "She" looks like she's having a whale of a good time up there!"
HA! When I was a kid I wished that I could BE the flying nun and sail through the sky.
We had a lot of rain last week, however this week it's supposed to be sunny and in the high 70's. Today was GORGEOUS! I took a train trip out to the burbs and enjoyed it so much.
Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a glorious week!

The way the city of Philadelphia takes care of the snow is horrendous. I feel for your co-worker.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, Ron x
I know, Philly is not good at managing the snow in the city. They just plow it all to the side so that the cars can get through, but then make it impossible for people to get out of there homes and apartments and use the sidewalks. Oy vey!
ReplyDeleteOMG HA HA HA!!!! The first thing I was going to do was say I would pay you a million dollars to somehow get your face on the flying nun. So I scrolled down and burst out laughing. Of COURSE you put your face on the flying nun!!!!!!! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are FREAKING AMAZING. Holy cow... WOW. Let me scroll up and pick my two favorites. Please hold....
Shoot. So hard to choose! If I HAD to choose.. the last photo and the one with what looks like a yellow crane. The window is my third favorite. But ALL of them are so beautiful. I like the idea of how you can finally walk in the streets - something you don't even think about. When it snows big here (rare) we ALWAYS walk in the middle of the streets... so fun!!!!
I do love a good blizzard! Snowing here too again... All your shots are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fiona :) Don't you just love a good snow blizzard?
ReplyDelete"Let it snow...let it snow....let it snow...." Ha!
Have a great weekend, my friend. And thanks so much for stopping by!

" So I scrolled down and burst out laughing. Of COURSE you put your face on the flying nun!!!!!!! "
ReplyDeleteHA! I just couldn't resist, Katherine! I made that photo over at Face In Hole. It was a last minute thought before I posted.
"I like the idea of how you can finally walk in the streets - something you don't even think about. When it snows big here (rare) we ALWAYS walk in the middle of the streets... so fun!!!!"
I know, isn't it? And especially in a city where there are usually speeding cars, buses and taxi's, normally you wouldn't dare walk in the street. It was so strange on that day to see how deserted and quiet the streets were.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Hope you're having a fantastic week!

The amount of snow you are showing in these pics are just an average snowfall here in Winterpeg Ron! Hahahaha! I love the snow too because I am a winter baby with my birthday in December. But now (because of my lung issues) I have to be content to adore the snow through the window.
ReplyDelete"The amount of snow you are showing in these pics are just an average snowfall here in Winterpeg Ron! Hahahaha! "
ReplyDeleteOMG...then I know that I would LOVE living in Canada! And even when I lived in NYC (which is closer to Canada than here) it's colder there and they get more snow.
And I'm so happy to hear that you love the snow too because I often think that I'm the only person who loves winter and snow.
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Hope all is going well for you and that you're feeling well and strong.
(((((((((((((( You ))))))))))))

First off, you posted one great photo after another!
ReplyDeleteI can easily tell you how winter has been where I live. In a word, it's been like....SUMMER!
Thank you, Pat :)
ReplyDelete"I can easily tell you how winter has been where I live. In a word, it's been like....SUMMER!"
Ha! Yes, I know you live in California, so it's somewhat similar to how winter was when I lived in Florida...SUMMER!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a grrrreat rest of your week!
Ron, I have a friend who feels the same as you when it comes to winter. He loves it! He says he would rather be cold than hot. He hates summer.
ReplyDelete"He says he would rather be cold than hot."
ReplyDeleteHa! Robert, please tell your friend I am the same way. I would MUCH rather be cold than hot. My body just feels better when it's cold. Heat just wipes me out and makes me feel ill.
Have a great weekend, buddy!
Brrrr! Beautiful but I'm a summer-lover. Or spring or fall. But winter cuts me to the bone. We're in a run of 70+ degree days and I couldn't be happier about that.
ReplyDeleteHa! I know, I am SOOOO in the minority when it comes to winter. However, I do love spring and fall as well. I just don't care for summer because of the excessive heat.
ReplyDelete" We're in a run of 70+ degree days and I couldn't be happier about that."
Can you believe that it was 80 degrees here yesterday?!?
Have a super weekend, my friend. And thanks so much for stopping by!

Alrighta!!! Nothing like a good snow storm. I was just mentioning to Joe last night how much I miss the blizzards on the Prairies, they were SUCH fun. Sounds crazy but they were. Sometimes lasting for over a day.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a good pile of snow there, love those city sidewalk scenes Ron, you do live in such a beautiful city. And look at you, all rosy cheeked!!!
Have a fab weekend.
Speaking of fab, I have one fabulous contest over at my blog right now, the I LOVE Spring contest, with a prize package worth almost $200! You'll see!!!
Hugs, G
It has been a crazy year, weather-wise. Ours might be breaking for the better now. I'm ready for winter to be gone. I love the photos of the snow on the two grate/fence/gate shots. AND, I remember Sally Field and the Flying Nun...although I don't remember her looking quite like that. Oh my, I really dated myself, didn't I? :-) Hope you're doing well these days.
ReplyDeleteYes, hasn't it, Lisa? And it seems to be that way everywhere, not just here in the US.
ReplyDeleteWe had a few gorgeous days last week, when it was sunny, clear skies, and not too hot or too cold. It was perfection! I do look forward to Spring, however, I'm not a Summer person. Too, too hot.
"AND, I remember Sally Field and the Flying Nun..."
You too? Wasn't that a funny show?
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaaaaaabulous week!

Its been the best winter ever, here! But that's cuz I hate winter weather! I believe you had more snow this year than we did! How crazy is that? Of course, like you said, it's not over yet!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are nice and everything, but I prefer the ones I just posted! LOL! XO!
" I believe you had more snow this year than we did! How crazy is that? Of course, like you said, it's not over yet!"
ReplyDeleteYes, I think we did. And talk about "it's not over yet" it's supposed to snow on Sunday. We're getting hit with a nor'easter!
"Your pictures are nice and everything, but I prefer the ones I just posted! LOL! XO!"
HAHAHHAHAAHAHA! OMG...yes, I just came back from reading your most recent post and can see why! And btw, your photographs are GORGEOUS!
Have a super weekend, my friend!
