Post updates by email:

I first discovered Yazemeenah Rossi while on Instagram and immediately said out loud to myself, "WOW...what a STUNNING woman!" And it wasn't just because of the way she looked, but also (and even more so) about the energy she exuded. I could literally see a bright light shinning from within her.

After perusing her Instagram feed I visited her website, where I found a plethora of information about her background, her work, her outlook on life and aging, and her social entrepreneurship. She lives a very active and diverse life.

She was born in 1955, the same year I was born. Therefore, we're exactly the same age (63). And it's ironic too, because after reading about her and then listening to her speak in several interviews, I realized that she and I share the same outlook about life and aging.

We both enjoy living different lives within the same life.

We not only accept age, but we celebrate it because we view it as something that's attractive and valuable.

And we also share a mutual love of photography that began when we were children.

I took this quote from an interview I read on the website Ageist, in which she shared this:

“When I was a child, my parents said I was stubborn because I knew what I wanted and what I didn’t want,” she says. “I’ve always been like that. I’ve always been in touch with my intuition.”

Sounds just like me when I was a child.

Interesting Things About Yazemeenah:

Originally from Corsica, she now lives in Malibu, California.

She started her modeling career in France at age 30, which is normally the age of retirement for modeling. She became a model for The Ford Modeling Agency in New York City.

She was one of the first models with silver hair.

Since childhood, her first love has always been photography.

She is also a professional film actress.

Her Vision

She likes being real with her body and her work.

And that’s why she accepts her hair and wrinkles, because they are witnesses to a rich and intense way of life.

She grew up in nature, and has always adopted a way of life that is very balanced, healthy, spiritual, and in tune with nature.

She's been practicing Yoga for over 30 years.

Her Work

In 2000, she started taking her first self-portraits in New York, because it frustrated her not to recognize herself in some of the retouched photos in her professional portfolio.

This hobby has become a work in its own right.

As a model (photo and video), she is often, both in front of and behind the lens for different brands leading styling and artistic direction.

As a photographer, she prefers working in natural outdoor light, when possible.

Social Entrepreneur

As an artist not only visual but also manual, she appreciates and values the work of artisans.

She promotes and shares their work with the world in a social entrepreneurship with Nepal using her talents as model and photographer to create beautiful visuals of their wearable art pieces.

As all of you know from reading my blog these many years, I greatly admire, respect and adore women, because women contribute so much to this world. And without them, this world would be a very boring place.

So, when I have an opportunity to celebrate women, I will.

Today, I would like to celebrate Yazemeenah Rossi. An inspiring role model who, in my eyes, epitomizes grace, authenticity, and timeless beauty.

Please enjoy. And notice how comfortable and free she is in her own skin...

Have a beautiful week, everyone!

  1. OMG what a fabulous face, and skin. I gazed at the photographs somewhat enviously. Thanks for sharing the photos, Ron. I shall go off now and avoid all mirrors lol.

Hope you have a lovely day.

  2. She is quite beautiful and sexy, isn't she? You don't often see women with hair that long after at her age (or even 50's). I like the profile photo of her in yellow (you would never be able to guess her age) and I also love the one in the business jacket and shirt. It's masculine, but you can see how stunning her eyes, nose and lips are. Thanks for introducing us to a beautiful, timeless woman.

  3. Oh my Ron, she's gorgeous! I love her dark eyes in contrast to her light skin and silver hair. She has such a beautiful earthy look. I can't believe she's 63?! And I also can't believe she started her modeling career at age 30. These photographs are stunning! You're right, she does look very comfortable and at ease within her own skin.

Such an inspiration! Thank you for sharing, Ron

  4. Hello, Ron. Thanks for sharing some information and photographs of this lovely woman. Yes, you certainly do celebrate women... and we thank you! :) I am already liking many things about her, also reading things I need to be reminded of ... well... except the hair coloring. While I absolutely applaud her for not doing it, and think her natural look is perfect... personally... hair dye is still got it's hold on me. haha I'm in my burgundy stage now.

  5. This one was certainly blessed with good genes, huh, Ron?! Her skin, her luxurious hair, her Yoga-toned body -- all contribute to an essence that celebrates an individual in tune with herself and nature.

How wonderful to find someone so at-peace with herself, regardless of age. Those 30- and 40-somethings who are frazzled at the idea of wrinkles and gray hair ought to peruse your post today and take notes!

Thank you for introducing us to Ms. Rossi. Have a superior week! xo

  6. Ron, I love this post! And thank you for being so supportive in celebrating women. We love you for that!!!

I love how you expressed this, "We both enjoy living different lives within the same life."
because that's always been how I feel about my own life. I've tried many different things and have had many different careers. I've always known that I'm not meant to do one thing in my life. I'm meant to have many lives in one lifetime. Thanks for putting into words what I've never been able to say.

She is GORGEOUS! Love the gray hair! And you're right, it's not her physical beauty, but she's got a glow about her. As you shared, a light!

I will being checking out the links you left for us today. Looking forward to knowing more about this inspiring lady.

  7. I know, Valerie, isn't she beautiful? And I love the fact that she doesn't care about showing her wrinkles. In fact, she applauds them! I find her to be such an inspiration, not only for women, but for everyone.

"I shall go off now and avoid all mirrors lol,"

OMG...that made me laugh out loud!! No, be proud of yourself and look at your beautiful face in the mirror often!

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear friend. Enjoy your week!

  8. Yes, she sure is! And I'm glad you said that because I too think she's sexy!

"You don't often see women with hair that long at her age (or even 50's)."

No, you're right, you don't. I've seen very few mature women with long hair. Occasionally, I'll see a woman walking down the street or in a store with long hair (and very often gray as well) and will actually go up to them and tell them how beautiful they look.

"I also love the one in the business jacket and shirt. It's masculine, but you can see how stunning her eyes, nose and lips are. "

Yes, she looks androgynous (both male and female) in that picture. And love that! I think a woman in a suit is so sexy.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a wonderful rest of your week!

  9. "I love her dark eyes in contrast to her light skin and silver hair. She has such a beautiful earthy look."

Candice, I do too! And yes, she most certain does have a beautiful "earthiness" about her. I bet she's a Taurus because they are an earth sign and look very much EARTHY.

I know 63-years old and STARTED her career at 30?!?!? And I'm very familiar with The Ford Agency in New York because when I lived there, that agency was the TOP agencies. And not only for modeling, but for acting as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have an awesome rest of your week!

  10. Hellooooooooooooooo Mary!

Isn't she just lovely? I knew you would enjoy knowing certain things about her because like you, she's very artistic and creative. Plus, for being a "model" she has such a down-to-earth and real energy about her.

"...things I need to be reminded of ... well... except the hair coloring. While I absolutely applaud her for not doing it, and think her natural look is perfect... personally... hair dye is still got it's hold on me. "

HA! And that's totally okay, because you enjoy coloring your hair. It's a form of ART for you! So by all means, you keep on doing it! I always love your different hair colors!

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor! Hope your 4th of July was fabulous and that you're enjoying your summer.

Personally? I'm over all this dang heat and humidity we're having. I am already SOOOO READY for FALL. :)

  11. HA! You said it, Debbie! GOOD genes indeed! Isn't she lovely?

"Her skin, her luxurious hair, her Yoga-toned body -- all contribute to an essence that celebrates an individual in tune with herself and nature."

I couldn't have expressed that any better, you're right. All of those things contribute to her essence. Yes, I admire her so much because of how comfortable and at peace she is with herself, regardless of age.

"Those 30- and 40-somethings who are frazzled at the idea of wrinkles and gray hair ought to peruse your post today and take notes!"

And it's starting even earlier that 30 because I met a client several months ago who was in her mid-20's and she was already freaking out about getting older.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have an awesome rest of your week!

  12. Hey there Elaine!

I adore women! Always have. I think women are amazing because they can wear so many hats and excel in all of them. I also admire a woman's strength. As I said, women contribute so much to this world.

"I've always known that I'm not meant to do one thing in my life. I'm meant to have many lives in one lifetime. Thanks for putting into words what I've never been able to say."

Meeeeee too! I'm not meant to do only ONE thing with my life. When I look back over the various careers I've had, it's hysterical because I've done so many different things. For me, I find it interesting and exciting to try different things. It's keeps life interesting, you know?

Ever since I was a kid, I loved the look of gray hair. And not only on men, but women as well. I think it's sexy!

Hope you enjoy the links. Her website alone has so much to read and discover.

Have a faaaaaaabulous rest of your week, my friend. And thanks for stopping by!

  13. What a rare and delightful inspiration she is. Rossi's inner beauty shines through and radiates with timeless majesty. She's obviously not hung up on age and all the unimportant burdens that society uses to stigmatize us with.

Much like you, I've always adored women - and I've always felt more comfortable being around them than I did with men (perhaps this had something to do with my violent and abusive father......)
    Anyway, thanks for this post.

Yes, you are spot on, Jon! And I really admire that about her because society makes women feel so self-conscious about aging, and I think that is so unfair because they don't do that to men.

"Much like you, I've always adored women - and I've always felt more comfortable being around them than I did with men."

Me too. And think being gay has much to do with that because I truly believe that women and gay men have a special connection. I adore women, and have much respect for them

Thanks so much for stopping by, Jon. Have an awesome weekend!

  17. Ron, your post could not have come at a better time because I've been lamenting over getting older LOL. This women is SUCH an inspiration for me, so thank you! I'm amazed at how much younger she looks than her age. She looks at the most, in her late 40's. I love that she doesn't care about her silver hair and wrinkles AND that she's still modeling. It just goes to show how a positive attitude is where it's at. I'm realizing that getting older is all in how you see it. Plus, she takes care of herself in a healthy, balanced, and natural way, she doesn't obsess over it.

Her body is amazing! I love that last shot of her hair.

Thank you for this, Ron. I needed it. Have a wonderful weekend xo

  18. This women is so beautiful Ron. And sexy too! I may be in the major minority when it comes to what I find attractive in a woman, but I think age is very attractive. Not only in how a woman looks, but also a confidence and wisdom. And this woman is a perfect example.

    Beautiful!

  19. Hola Denise!

Isn't Yazemeenah SUCH an inspiration? And not only to women, but anyone who sees aging as something negative. I love her positive and healthy attitude, which I think is probably what makes her glow!

Yes, when I first saw her on Instagram, I couldn't believe she was in her 60's. And yes, she is STILL modeling which I think is FANTABULOUS because she's a "role" model! To me she looks almost ageless.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a wonderful weekend as well!

  20. I think she's sexy too, Matt! But then again, even when I was much, much younger, I was always more attracted to "older." To me, there is something so incredibly attractive about age.

" Not only in how a woman looks, but also a confidence and wisdom. And this woman is a perfect example."

Yes, you nailed it! It's her confidence and wisdom that amplifies her physical beauty!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have an excellent weekend!

  21. She has amazing hair, doesn't she? A very beautiful woman.

I stopped coloring my hair about two years ago. Ironic, actually, because if I'd known I was going to lose it all to chemo, I wouldn't have put myself through that rowing out period! But now that it's back I will never, ever again color it. I love the silver at my temples and the strands scattered through the rest.

  22. Isn't her hair STUNNING? It looks like a beautiful halo of light surrounding her lovely face.

"But now that it's back I will never, ever again color it. I love the silver at my temples and the strands scattered through the rest."

BRAVO! And good for you! When I was still a hairstylist, many of clients thanked me for suggesting to them to stop coloring their hair and embrace the silver because they ended up LOVING it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a super Sunday!

  23. What a gorgeous woman! I can see why you're enamored, Ron.

I definitely embrace the concept of living different lives within your life. I've always felt that I have lived the equivalent of three or four completely different adult lives already. Who knows, there may even be more to come.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my friend!

  24. Isn't she gorgeous, Mark? Yes, I was/am very enamored by her!

"I definitely embrace the concept of living different lives within your life. I've always felt that I have lived the equivalent of three or four completely different adult lives already. Who knows, there may even be more to come."

Yes, you most certainly have. That's one thing that you and I have very much in common, we try new things within are lives. So, it's very much like living different lives within the same life, you know? I think I'll be this way forever because I'm 63 and I still try new things. I love the "experience" of things.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantabulous week!

    X to you and Tara

  25. Such a beautiful woman, Ron! Thanks so much for sharing these amazing photos.

I'm one year behind the pair of you, so I love hearing from fearless veterans in our age bracket. I really should try that yoga stuff!

She is quite an inspiration and I'm glad you spreading the word about her.

    Take care, buddy!

  26. Isn't she lovely, Rob? And not only her beauty, but also her whole attitude about aging and beauty. Such an inspiration!

"I'm one year behind the pair of you, so I love hearing from fearless veterans in our age bracket. I really should try that yoga stuff!"

I do a bit of Hatha yoga from taking classes many years ago and I find that it keeps my body flexible. It also helps to balance the mind and spirit.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a great rest of your week!
