Hi folks!

Today, I'll be posting a mish-mash of photographs I had on my desktop computer and cell phone.

Don't worry, though, not too many, I promise.😁

---------------------------------------

Mish-Mash -

As you all know from previous posts that I've shared about the Philadelphia sports fans, whenever the Super Bowl or World Series comes around, the entire city goes completely insane. Before the Super Bowl playoffs, I saw Eagles (Go Birds) clothing on everyone, including the dogs.

One day at work, a woman came into my store with her adorable little dog dressed in an Eagles dress that she got in the baby department at a local store. I asked if I could take a photograph to send to my brother in Florida. She said I could.

The dog looked up at the perfect time and smiled for me...

Being in the beauty industry, I get all sorts of gratis from various companies. This is a pen, camouflaged as a tube of lipstick. How cool is that?...

The Philadelphia Amtrak Station on 30th Street. I love the architecture of this building...

Interior photographs of its Art Deco design...

Pennsylvania Railroad War Memorial statue in the lobby...

Mama Moo and Baby Moo, standing in front of the gourmet cookie and dairy bar, Hope's Cookies, in Bryn Mawr, PA -- Mooooooooooooooo!

A tree face in Fishtown, Philadelphia...

And speaking of Fishtown, last weekend my fabulous friend Kelly and I went to La Colombe in Fishtown for some coffee. I love getting together with Kelly because it's always casual, fun, and great conversations. This is me channeling a European posh tea time. Tell me, don't I look so posh wearing Kelly's sunglasses? Lol!

Okay, these last two photographs might make you scream in horror or scream with laughter. Or both.

The following photo was sent to me by my other fabulous friend Diana, who lives in Texas. This picture was taken waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the mid-90s. She and I worked at The Florida Mall in Orlando, Florida. I think this picture was taken by the rear security door, where employees would enter and exit. Isn't Diana gorgeous? Notice how I only had half my facial hair back then. And could someone please tell me what I was doing with my MOUTH?!? It looks like I had just taken a mouthful of water and then whoever took the photograph quickly said, "Okay...smile!"

Holy shit, are you ready for this last photograph?

This is me and my senior high school friend at the time, Nona. We were on a National Airlines plane, heading to New York City for my audition at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. We both looked STONED out of our minds (which we weren't). But hey, that's what everyone looked like back in 1974. And I can't even talk about my hair, eyebrows, or aviator sunglasses.

Memories light the corners of my mind...

Peace Be With You! ✌☮

  1. Ron, I am dying from laughter at those last three photographs of you. OMG, you crack me the hell up with your commentary! -- "It looks like I had just taken a mouthful of water and then whoever took the photograph quickly said, "Okay...smile!" -- HILARIOUS!

You look so cute, adorable, and handsome in all the photos. Isn't it something to look back on old photographs and see how we changed? Your friend Diana IS gorgeous. Love her beauty mark! Hope she's doing okay after the passing of her husband a while back.

Beautiful photos of the exterior and interior of 30th Street Amtrak. I love that building. My husband and I take that train to New York sometimes. So fast! One hour and we're in the city!

Okay, and I have to ask you, did you really take a National Airlines plane to NY? I remember National Airlines when I was a kid. I also remember Eastern Airlines. God, how I miss those days of air travel. It was such a joy to fly. Now I dread it.

Fun, fun post, Mr. Ron! I enjoy when you share your photography. xo

  2. Hello there, Elaine!

I cannot believe my mouth in that photograph. It's like I have NO mouth!

Isn't Diana stunning? I love her beauty mark too. And she still looks fabulous! Thank you for your concern. She is doing well. It's been such an adjustment these past two years, but she's staying positive. Her sister is currently visiting her for about a month, and I'm so happy for her because it will give Diana some free time for herself.

OMG, I took the Amtrak train to NY twice and freaking LOVED it! You're right, so fast! The first time I took it, the company I was employed by paid for the ticket. But I couldn't believe how expensive it was. However, I hear if you book early, they have incredible deals.

"...did you really take a National Airlines plane to NY? I remember National Airlines when I was a kid. I also remember Eastern Airlines. God, how I miss those days of air travel. It was such a joy to fly. Now I dread it."

Yes to all of that! In fact, the very first time I ever flew (my parents took my brother and I to Miami), we took National Airlines. And I flew Eastern. Way back, I actually applied to Eastern Airlines to be a flight attendant, but didn't make the cut. Flying back then was so classy. Now, it's like traveling in a cattle car!

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor! Hope you're having a fabulous week!

  3. "We both looked STONED out of our minds (which we weren't). But hey, that's what everyone looked like back in 1974." --- ROFLMAO! Ron, I can't even! That photo is PRICELESS! The look on both of your faces is hysterical. I'm curious, who took the photograph? You and your friend Nona look like you're wearing matching colored outfits.

What a great mish-mash of photos. So diverse! What year was that photo of you and Diana taken? I love your shirt and tie. You look so professional. The lipstick pen is very cool indeed. I had to scroll up and down a few times to really see it.

Thanks for the laughs, Ron! You never fail to entertain. By the way, how did your audition go? Did you get in?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yes, Daniel, I did get in. I had to perform two contrasting monologues. It was a two-year school that you had to audition for each year. Unfortunately (but also fortunately) I did not get accepted into the second year. I went on to study at different school, which ended up being better for me.

" I'm curious, who took the photograph? You and your friend Nona look like you're wearing matching colored outfits."

GREAT question! There was a second person who flew to New York with Nona and I (Oliver). He's the one who took the photograph. His seat on the plane was across the aisle from us. The three of us had so much fun. I think we were there for a total of three days.

That photo of D and I had to have been taken sometime in the mid to late 90's. We met at that job and then worked with each other for several years. She's my longest Florida friend!

Thanks so much for stopping by tonight, Daniel! Always a delight to read your comments!

    Have a fab week!

  5. Ron, I wish I had known you back when those final photographs were taken. I know I would have enjoyed hanging out with you! Funny and interesting man you are! Do you still do any acting? Did you live in New York? The city was such a different place back in the 70s. I miss the old New York. It wasn't perfect, but it had such a different energy. I lived in Queens for a few years.

That dog is so cute! He/she looks like its smiling at you. I've heard stories about the Philadelphia sports fans and how wild they are. I saw on the news when they won the Super Bowl. I believe it was 2018? The city went ballistic.

    Love that tree face!

  6. Interesting about the auditioning process. God, I would be so nervous to do something like an acting audition. But I suppose if you're in the industry, you get used to it.

I bet you had so much fun in New York! How long did you actually live there?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I have to be honest, I never got used to auditions, I was ALWAYS nervous. And that goes for performing as well. No matter how long a show ran, when it came time to go onstage every night, I thought I was going to throw up. LOL!

I lived in NYC a little over 4 years. LOVED it. New York was so gritty, raw, and creative back then.

  8. Good morning, Abby!

I lived in New York for a little over 4 years.

"The city was such a different place back in the 70s. I miss the old New York. It wasn't perfect, but it had such a different energy. I lived in Queens for a few years."

You got that right! It had a totally different energy back in the 70's-80s. As I shared with Daniel, it was so gritty, raw, and creative. It wasn't perfect, however, it was so incredibly one-of-a-kind. Now, it's so homogenized. I haven't been back in 4 years. And it saddens me to say that I don't miss it.

I LOVED Queens! Best view of Manhattan!

OMG, ballistic doesn't even come close to their Super Bowl win in 2018. The fans literally destroyed the city.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Abby! Have a fabulous rest of your week!

  9. Ron, I bet you get a TON of gratis in your industry. And I'm so jealous! That lipstick pen is so damn cute!!! I want one to have at my desk at work to make all the other females jealous!

Fantastic photos! And yes, you look SO posh sipping your tea in Kelly's sunglasses! The photo of you with Diana is adorable. You can tell you're besties! I love the shade of lipstick she has on. You don't by any chance remember what is was, do you? Lol!

"We both looked STONED out of our minds (which we weren't). But hey, that's what everyone looked like back in 1974. And I can't even talk about my hair, eyebrows, or aviator sunglasses."

HYSTERICAL! You do look stoned. And the picture is soooooo 70s! Love your shirt!!

Wish we lived closer. I would like nothing more than hanging out with you and Kelly in the city!

Thanks for brightening my Wednesday morning at work, dear man! xox

  10. Hola Denise, and Good Morning!

Oh my god, you would DIE from all the gratis I get from various companies. But I have to say that I give most of it away to friends because I can't possibly use it all. I give away all the makeup because I don't wear makeup, other than a bronzer sometimes. I'm more interested in the skincare. But even that I give away because I don't want the product to spoil before their expiration dates. I also give away the hair products. Anytime Kelly and I meet up for coffee, I usually bring her a bag of gratis.

"I love the shade of lipstick she has on. You don't by any chance remember what is was, do you? Lol!"

You are do funny! No, I don't remember that far back. Yet, I'm sure it was something from Bobbie Brown because Diana worked as a counter manager at the BB counter.

You're right, that shirt looks sooooo 70s! And do does my hair and aviator sunglasses! I look like one of The Village People!

I wish you lived closer too. We'd have so much fun, I know!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Denise! Have a fabulous Wednesday at work!

  11. Ron, that dogs is adorable! It actually looks like its at YOU! Wow...gorgeous Art Deco architecture. That building is stunning. I love the ceiling and those hanging lights. I also have a love of cows, so that photo of Mama Moo and Baby Moo made me smile. Cows have such sweet-looking faces!

My dad grew up in the 70s, so I laughed at the last picture of you and your friend. The photo looks so much like the ones he has. He too had aviator glasses. What a hoot! Did you wear bell-bottom jeans and polyester shirts? He did!

    Fun post, Ron! x

    ReplyDelete
  12. "Did you wear bell-bottom jeans and polyester shirts? He did!"

I most certainly did, Candice! And I also had two pairs of platform shoes. They were so popular back then. I had one pair that were ORANGE. And the other was BURGUNDY. I thought I was the coolest kid on the block. HA! The only thing I didn't like about polyester is that it's not breathable. So I used to sweat like hell in them when dancing at the disco nightclubs.

OMG, I love cows too. I agree, they have the most sweet-looking faces. When I was a kid, I use to MOO at them when we drove by a cow pasture!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Peace be with you!

  13. OMG those last photos are faaaabbbbulous! I’m cracking up! Do you know what happened to Nona? I love it because that truly WAS what all of our photos were like in the 70’s! Between the clothing and the expressions, dear lord, what were we thinking? And yes, Diana is so pretty! And that would have been a good picture of you except for the mouth! Bahaha…omg, I do weird things with my mouth in photos sometimes and cringe after!

I love the Philly Amtrak station. It reminds me of Grand Central. That pen is so clever. And I’m jealous of Kelly having coffee with you. That looks like fun. You are like a celebrity in those sunglasses trying to not be seen, but we are all noticing you because you look so amazing! Thanks for sharing such fun photos today! Sending tornado flooding your way……🤣

  14. Nona and I stayed in touch after high school and then while after that. But we eventually lost contact. She moved, I moved, and you know how that goes. She and I actually went to prom together. She was a theater major and I was a theater major. She too ended up auditioning for the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and got excepted. Her mother, interesting enough, was a very well-known psychic in South Florida. She did several readings on me that were very accurate.

"....that truly WAS what all of our photos were like in the 70’s! Between the clothing and the expressions, dear lord, what were we thinking? "

Who knows? But isn't funny to look at old photographs and see how each era had it's own sense of style? And what's really funny is that some of that 70s stuff has recycled back to the present.

Diana texted me that photo about two weeks ago and I instantly knew I wanted to share it on my blog. But MY GAWD, what the hell was I doing with my mouth?!?!

Yes, you are absolutely right, it DOES resemble Grand Central!!!

HA! Kelly took that photo and came up with the idea of wearing her sunglass and posing as "European posh tea time" -- although honestly, I was drinking coffee not tea.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend! And OMG, for the past three days we've been getting all that rain you're experiencing. It truly looks like a tornado outside today. VERY strong winds!

    Stay dry and be safe!

  15. OMG, THESE PICTURES!! I love the photos of you when you were younger! I never get tired of looking at old pictures and hearing stories from the past. ❤️

That dog is so adorable! And the dress!

Your train station in Philadelphia is stunning! It gets magical light in there. I'd sit there all day, people watching.

I love the photos of you with your sunglasses (AND THE BLACK TURTLENECK!! YESSSS). You look like a celebrity trying to avoid the paparazzi. Love. ❤️

I loved this post so much, friend. Never stop sharing your photos with us. xoxo

  16. Hellooooooooooo there, Kari!

Aw...thank you so much for your sweet, kind words! X

Isn't it fun to look through old photos of when we grew up? And it's so hard to think how fast time flies because when I look at these photographs, it seem like only yesterday!

Isn't that train station stunning? You're right, it's an excellent place to sit and people watch. In fact, I do that sometimes. I love the whole ambiance of the place.

HA! I LOVE turtlenecks. I wish I could wear them all-year round. I have a ton of them that I bought at the end of each season, so I can have them for the next season. I buy a lot of mine at H&M.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your fabulous energy, my friend. Always enjoy your comments!

  17. "I also had two pairs of platform shoes. They were so popular back then. I had one pair that were ORANGE. And the other was BURGUNDY. " - Omg Ron, I would give anything to see you wearing those shoes! I forgot about platform shoes being the rage back in the 70s!

Isn't polyester the pits? It's my least favorite material.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ron, I love all these photos, but I have to say that the last three are my favorites! The camera LOVES you, you handsome man!

The architecture of the train station is phenomenal! That dog is so dang cute!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Aw...thank you, Clair! When I was a kid, my mother used to call me her "ham son" because whenever anyone brought out a camera, I would run over and pose. LOL!!!! In fact, when I got older, she bought me my very first camera. It was a Kodak instamatic.

Isn't that doggie ADORABLE? I always forget how gorgeous that train station is until I visit it again and go...."WOW!"

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fabulous weekend!

  20. "It looks like I had just taken a mouthful of water and then whoever took the photograph quickly said, "Okay...smile!" - ROFLMAO, Ron! That's exactly what it looks like! Yes, you're friend Diana is beautiful. I love her dark hair and eyes.

The posh photos of you are SO posh! You celebrity incognito!

And the one in the plane (you with your hair, eyebrows, and aviator sunglasses) is hilarious! SO 70s! Your friend sitting next to you looks completely wasted. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did your audition go? Do tell!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey there, Robert!

Yes, isn't that what I look like in that photograph? And it looks like I have NO mouth!

Isn't Diana beautiful? We met (in Florida) way back in 1996 while working with each other and have stayed close friends ever since. I wish we lived closer.

Isn't that photo so 70s? I look like someone from the cast of the movie, "Saturday Night Fever!"

"Your friend sitting next to you looks completely wasted. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hahahaahahahahaha! Doesn't she????? I do too, for that matter!

My audition went well. I had to perform two monologues. I got accepted into the school. But I only attended one year because I was not asked back for the second year.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Robert! Have a faaaaaabulous rest of your week and weekend!

  22. Ron, your Amtrak station looks like a museum ... or a library. It's just a gorgeous building, and I can see why you included it. That little dog in its Eagles dress is precious -- what a face! Didn't you just want to give it a huge hug??

A pen disguised as a tube of lipstick? Cool idea (though it might be maddening when you're looking to reapply lipstick quickly and discretely and grab the pen instead, ha!)

Your "old-time" photos are proof that some people get better with time, my friend (how's that for a tactful Virgo way of complimenting you??) You do look like you were in mid-gulp in the one with Diana!

    Happy weekend to you! xx

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gooooooooood morning, Debbie!

I never thought of that, but you're right, it does look like a museum...or a library! Isn't it the architecture stunning? One day a few weeks ago, I took a long walk (20 blocks) because there was a trail runs along the Schuylkill River, which has an entrance right in front of the Amtrak Station. So before I got on the trail, I stopped in the station to take a few photographs. I always forget how stunning it is!

"Didn't you just want to give it a huge hug??"

OMG, I most certain did! The store I work in is very "dog friendly", so on the weekends, I get to see some of the cutest dogs!

"Your "old-time" photos are proof that some people get better with time, my friend (how's that for a tactful Virgo way of complimenting you??) "

HA! I agree!!!! Just like wine!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Happy Saturday to you!

  24. Ron, the photos of YOU are my favorites! You are so funny and meant for the camera! My girlfriend and I are both 70s fans, so the one of you on the plane cracked us up!

" We both looked STONED out of our minds" --- LOL!!!! You do!

I really like the tree with the face on it. VERY cool! It has such a great "medieval times" feel!

    Thanks for the laughs, dude!

  25. " It has such a great "medieval times" feel!"

Matt, you are so right about that. I does! Like something from one of The Hobbit movies!

    We do, don't we? Ha!

I never fully appreciated the 70s until looking back. That's when I lived in NYC. Awesome era!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend! Have a great week!
