Can someone please tell me when the price of a single roll of toilet paper skyrocketed to the price of a one-night stay in a honeymoon suite at the Ritz Carlton?

Ok, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but not by much.

While shopping for toilet paper yesterday, I almost let out an audible gasp in isle 6 when I saw the price of $1.50.

Excuse me, but are we talking about the same stuff I use to pay 50 cents for?

And are we also talking about a paper product that even though it’s 2ply, I still end up poking my ring finger through it?

When did grooming my delicate derriere triple in price?

Probably about the time when a pack of chewing gum escalated from 25 cents to $1.29.

I know you’re all probably thinking, “Well Ron, why don’t you go to Costco and buy it in bulk because it’s cheaper that way?”

And my answer is, “Because I live in a studio apartment and have no where to store 50 rolls of Scotts.”

I only have space enough in this apartment to live with 2 rolls at a time.

I realize that I just bought a new laptop, so I shouldn’t be pinching over $1.50. But, at least with my laptop I get multiple usages instead of wiping once and then literally flushing my money down the toilet.

I’m thinking that maybe I’ll start a toilet paper savings account, like a Christmas club. That way $10.00 of my weekly paycheck will be put aside for toilet tissue expenses for the following year.

Oh but wait, that won’t work because by next year toilet paper will be up to $20.00 a roll, so my money won't be worth SHIT.

No, on second thought….

I think I’m just gonna go back to the caveman days and use these…..

However, I’ll have to be very careful not to confuse Boston ivy with poison ivy.

Wishing you a spectacular weekend everyone!

  1. Ron - Got a laugh out of this post. "TP" is the bane of my existance. Not only did the price jump, but I discovered, quite by accident that the rolls have gotten smaller (no surpise there). I was "using" some and had to change the rolls. As I slipped the new one on it completely encased the old roll! We only by the single ply Scotts, so it was not a difference in papers. I find it incredible how manufacturer's find ways to fool us into getting less and less of their product. I had noticed a while ago that I thought the "TP" was getting so thin that you could almost read through it. Now I know how the main packaging stayed the same!

  2. Hellooooooo Miss P!

OMG...it's SOOOOOOOOOO great too see you!!!

" had noticed a while ago that I thought the "TP" was getting so thin that you could almost read through it."

    HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....that is so TRUE!

I use Scotts too, only because you seem to get more BANG for your bucks, but I have to take notice the next time I changes rolls to see how much smaller they've gotten.

That's why I will not use Charmin or any other roll of TP because to me it seems to be all FLUFF and less paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by this evening, dear lady!

    You've made my night!

Have a great rest of your weekend....X
