Yesterday morning, as I opened the windows in my apartment and felt how cool and breezy it was outside, I instantly remembered WHY I love this time of the year so much.

It is at this time, when I can begin to feel the subtle changes in the season as we begin to move into Fall.

Alleluia!

Sunday was absolutely glorious.

The sky was bright blue; void of any clouds. The sun shined brightly, yet there was not a single trace of heat or humidity in the air. And the best part, was that the temperature was only a mere 71 degrees, which made the breeze feel like I was experiencing my own version of heaven on earth.

Fortunately I had the day off, so I walked to a nearby park and sat on a blanket under my favorite tree while listening to soothing music coming from my CD player; sipping a tall Starbucks coffee.

I watched, as everyone around me seemed to experience the same sense of euphoria, as they walked their dogs, played Frisbee, and laid in the cool grass; simply reveling in the day.

It was as if there was a contagious soon-to-be-Fall energy that was being passed around by everyone in the park, connecting us all to the same feeling of relaxed excitement.

Normally in a city, people will very rarely make eye contact because they’re too busy talking on their cell phones or text messaging to even notice anyone around them. However, on this day total strangers where actually looking at one another and saying, “Hello.”

Everyone had a huge smile on their face.

Including the dogs.

Which reminds me…..

….about an hour after sitting under my favorite tree and enjoying the day, I noticed a woman walking her ADORABLE dog on a leash. The dog was obviously sniffing for a place to relieve itself, when suddenly he found the perfect spot, which was about three feet from my blanket. I watched, as he squatted; leaving a lovely little POOP right in front of me. He then did what many males dogs do, by kicking up the grass with his hind legs, as if making martial art moves like Bruce Lee.

And take a guess where all that grass landed?

Yup…....

Oh, what a glorious Sunday in the park with George!

  1. Hey Ron;
I laughed out loud when I got to the part about the poop! You know you're just sitting there enjoying the beautiful day when along comes some asshole who lets their dog take a crap right infront of you! Don't you just love it? Well I hope it didnt ruin the day for you, hopefully we'll have a nice indian summer this year and have plenty more days like yesterday.

  2. I love naivist art... a perfect illustration to kick the poised Sunday post on. With some poop grass.

Starbucks and good music. Life in its marvelousness. No extras needed. My version - the same beverage with a sketchbook or a juicy novel.

  3. Dude, I'm in heaven too. And today is shaping up to be exactly the same, lucky us! Sorry about the dog, but into each life some poop must fall.

    Enjoy another smiley day!

I know...don't you just LOVE it? There was a HUGE area of grass surrounding me, yet this adorable dog decided to DUMP right in front of me!!! The second it happened, I thought, "Ok, this gonna be my blog post for Monday!"

So, I guess I should be THANKING the dog!

    Bwhahaahahhahahahahaha!

  9. It's funny that you wrote about this, because I was just thinking about that one day coming up very soon when all those conditions (minus the crapping dog) happen.

Every year there seems to be one magical day when I go outside and Autumn has shown herself. The skies are totally clear, yet they seem to look as if they are being viewed through a soft filter. You know the kind, like they use to use in the movies when they would show a close-up of the leading lady.

There is a crispness in the air, almost like you need long sleeves, but still warm enough in the sun light not to really need one.

Some of the leaves have started to turn yellow and you know their full display of color is only a couple of weeks away.

Ahhhhhh.....yep, I really look forward to "that" day.

I didn't know if anyone else felt that way, or would even understand when I talked about it each year happening. Obviously you experience very much the same thing.

    Very cool! (pun intended)

OMG, yes! yes! yes! I so totally know what you mean. That was a GREAT way to put, Jeff.

"as if they are being viewed through a soft filter."

    Like a Doris Day movie!

"Some of the leaves have started to turn yellow and you know their full display of color is only a couple of weeks away."

Funny you mentioned that because walking out of work on Saturday afternoon, I noticed four leaves lying on the pavement that had actually started to turn color. I squealed with excitement.

    FALL IS COMING!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my excitement and joy, this time of the year. Ain't it GRAND?

  19. Sounds like a wonderful day minus the dog poop and flying grass, like mentioned above being grassed is a whole lot better than being pooped on Ha Ha.

I had my brother tell the story of his friend and he sitting on the steps with their bare feet stretched out when a small dog walked by and sniffed his friends foot then as you have guessed he raised his leg and relieved himself on Davids foot, yes he kicked and scratched the grass afterwards, so anytime after that when we see a dog kicking the grass like this it reminds us of poor old Davids wet foot Ha Ha

And morning coffee's on the patio--glorious with a blankie. Brilliant stars....I sit and stare at Orion's navel. *laughing*

Yes, fall has slipped in here as well. Everyone is thrilled for the cooler weather and lack of humidity. 41. Hi Ronnie,

Now,I love dogs, but I do not love some of the liberties that they are permitted. A dog pooping on the sitting area of a public park or on the sidewalk is dirty.Do they have a doggie area? Many parks that admit dog in France have that.

Officially, you can be fined here. But think of the impossible task of spying on and tracking those owners.

I guess that you have an "animal attraction", for that pup to come and do it near you :)
    Ain't nature grand? Hehehe

"Do they have a doggie area? Many parks that admit dog in France have that."

Yes, they do have dogs parks here in Philly, where people can take their dogs for a run. However, dogs are also permitted in all the parks (which I think they should be), but the owners are suppose to pick up after them when they POOP. Which most do.
