Post updates by email:

Earlier this week, I called my mother in Florida and as usual, we talked for an hour and a half.

My mom and I can talk about anything. And when I say anything, I mean ANYTHING.

That’s one of the things I truly admire about her. No topic is off limits or taboo.

My mother is the type of person who is open to all kinds of people, and all kinds of situations.

She even reads my blog. And quite often gives me great suggestions for post topics.

And I love the fact that I can sometimes curse while I‘m sharing a story with her; using four letter words and it doesn’t bother her.

Words like: shit, bastard, and son of a bitch.

Oh…..but NEVER the F-word.

I mean I DO make reference to it, by using the words FRIGGIN’ and FREAKIN’, but never the actual F-word.

(although, a couple times I almost slipped…..oops!)

She and I can talk about politics, our spiritual beliefs, relationships, childhood memories, you name it.

And the great thing about it, is that we don’t always agree with one another’s view points or opinions, but we respect one another so our conversations never turn into any kind of argument.

We can sense one another’s boundaries.

My mother is also a very loyal person. I trust her completely, and know that I can share anything and that it will remain between she and I only.

My mother is like a best friend.

I look forward to talking with her each week. We usually speak on the phone every Sunday.

It’s just really nice to touch base and check in with one another; sharing what’s going on in our lives and giving each other feedback and support.

So, I would like to use this post to simply say, thank you to my mother.

And know that I cherish our telephone conversations every week.

I love how we’ll sometimes talk about serious stuff, and then others times we just laugh.

I love how you inform me of current events, because I don’t watch TV or read a newspaper. Therefore, if it wasn’t for YOU, I would never know what the HELL is going on in the world.

Yes, I love it ALL.

So, thank you. Not only for being a great mother. But, also a great friend.

Love ya!

P.S. We’ll talk again on Sunday. I have a story to tell you about a SHITTY and sneaky BASTARD, who tried to butt in front of me at Starbucks….the friggin’ SON OF A BITCH!

Have a faaaaaaaabulous weekend everyone!

  1. Aw, that's so sweet Ron. You are very blessed to have such a wonderful lady in your life to share things with. I miss my Mom alot. And Dad. They've been gone quite a few years now but I remember those times we'd talk on the phone.

So you want to know about current events. Hmm... there's been no Senate decision yet on the gay marriage bill in NY. Gov Cuomo is trying but I guess the religious wording has to be worked out or something?? Sounds like a lot of bullshit to me... pass the freaking thing!

Driving Miss Crazy may still be on the bus tour, she may have jury duty, she may come back later, she may run for a Senate seat but says she isn't. She may run for President. Right wing nut job Michelle is running. OH these chicks make my skin crawl. I don't know which one I dislike more. Probably Sarah... the wheels were off her bus a LONG time ago and yet she's still in the news all.the.damn.time. Enough already. Move to your McMansion in AZ and leave us all alone.

And now for weather. It's going to be a long, hot summer... stay in as much as possible. ;)

  2. Good morning, Ron. What a lovely post this is. If as you say you're mom reads this blog then I can tell her she has a great son. Fancy you writing about your mother.... my today post mentions mine but in a very different light. I envy you. It's weekend again, make sure you have a good one x

  3. I love hearing when people have such fab relationships with their parents. My mom has been my best friend too. I've always loved sitting in her kitchen with coffee and just letting it all go.

The F bomb is off limits with my mom too ;)

    Have a glorious weekend!

  6. Good Morning Crystal Chick~

"You are very blessed to have such a wonderful lady in your life to share things with."

Thank you. Yes, I do feel blessed to have such a wonderful lady in my life to share things with.

It's funny, because even though she's my stepmother, she and I have always felt as if we're genetically mother and son. I think in a past life we must have been, because we have a very close bond; as if we've always known one another.

"Sounds like a lot of bullshit to me... pass the freaking thing!"

    Bwhahahahahahahhahaha! OMG...I LOVE THAT!!!!!

    Bwhahahahaahahhahahahaha! You GO, M!

Everytime I see a photo of Sarah, I can't help but think she would make a very good Mary Kay Cosmetic representative!

    Bwhahhahahahahhahahhahaa!

Thanks so much for stopping by today; sharing current events and such GREAT laughs! I'm sitting here sipping my morning coffee and HOWLING!

Have a super weekend, my friend!

  7. ...This is the sweetest thing! You're so lucky to have your Mom in your life, my Mom has been gone now for a long time and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her. There's even times when I want to pick up the phone and dial her old phone number in hopes that I'll hear her sweet voice again. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that fills the void of a loving Mother once she is gone from your life...I miss her so.

...We were never allowed to say the "F" word around my Mom altho' when we became adults the word would slip out every now and again. And of course she would give you that 'look' that meant 'I had better not hear that again'...lol ;o)

...You're so lucky to have your Mom and I know she is lucky to have you too. Hug your Mom for me Ron and thanks for the memories. :o)

    ...Blessings...

  8. Good Morning Valerie~

    Aw...thank you, dear lady.

My brother turns his computer on every week; allowing my mother to catch up on my posts. She and I talked last night before I posted this, telling her I was writing about her. She told me that whenever I post about her she feels like a celebrity - HA!

You would LOVE her. She's very funny and easy to talk with.

Can't wait to read your post today. I'll be stopping by in a few!

Thank you for stopping by today. Have a glorious weekend, Valerie!

"The F bomb is off limits with my mom too ;)"

Funny, because one time my mother actually said the word 'friggin' while sharing a story with me and I thought, "You GO, girl!"

"You're so lucky to have your Mom in your life, my Mom has been gone now for a long time and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her."

    Aw...thank you.

I don't know whether you know this, but my mother is actually my stepmother. My biological mother passed away when I was 6 years old. My father remarried THIS wonderful lady, two years later. So, I feel VERY blessed to have had TWO wonderful mothers in my life.

"There's even times when I want to pick up the phone and dial her old phone number in hopes that I'll hear her sweet voice again. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that fills the void of a loving Mother once she is gone from your life...I miss her so."

Yes, I know what you mean because my mother says the same thing about HER mother. She misses her so. My mother had two of the most incredible parents. They we're truly soulmates. You could actually FEEL their close connection when you were in their presence. My grandmother passed away first, then my grandfather pasted away shortly after.

"...We were never allowed to say the "F" word around my Mom altho' when we became adults the word would slip out every now and again. And of course she would give you that 'look' that meant 'I had better not hear that again'...lol"

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! LOVE IT!!!

Always such a joy to read your comments, dear lady. Thank you so much for stopping by and for your sweet words.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Blessings and X to you!

  15. Ron, mothers are the best creation of God. These souls are the life force that nourish our body mind and spirits. The conversations that we have (in my case had) are the spark that can emblazen our passions or make us stop and think of the empathy that must be in our life. They make us smile, they make us cry, and they can frost our conjones at times. We are them and they are us. These gentle yet stern people are what we need as we go on our path. I too would like to say to my Ma, I love you and miss you and need a plate of pasta. Dave

  33. Hi Ron

It has been a long time since I visited here as LiR but very glad to see that you are still the same funny and caring man that I remember.

You are very lucky to have such a good relationship with your mother she sounds very much like mine.

I sometimes think that the conversations we have that cover every subject you can imagine. make it difficult for me to find a suitable life partner, as I need someone I can enjoy the same variety of conversations with.

My guess is that your mother gets as much enjoyment as you do from your chats.
