SURPRISE!

Yes, it’s a new template design.

I bet you thought you were at the wrong blog, hu?

This weekend, I decided to do a bit of remodeling here at Vent. I wanted something new. Something with a bit more color, but still clean and minimal. I’ve had a simple white blog design for the past several years now and felt like a change. I kept my old template design on file because I might one day go back to it. I like the look of a predominately all white template, but hey…it was time for a change.

Also, this was the perfect time for me to do this because I’m a long vacation from work. Three and a half weeks to be exact. And brother did I ever need it! I’ll tell you all about it in another post this month.

Lately, I’ve been feeling extremely creative, visually.

Let me just say, that I did not create this template myself. I got it from Deluxe Templates, who provides both Blogger and Wordpress Themes. I searched and searched for DAYS until I found this one. I was actually going to use another template at first, but decided that this one had better features. I’m also able to play with the HTML coding more on this one than the other. I customized this template a lot, but the overall design was not made by me.

There’s only one thing that bugs me about this template. You may have already noticed it on your computer monitors. There is a thin black line between the post date and post title. Do some of you see it? And the reason I ask is because I don’t see it on my desk top computer, only my laptop. I’ve tried doing everything to remove it, but I can’t seem to find out WHERE that particular piece of code is located.

Anyway, I’ll have to live with it until I can figure it out.

But if any of you DO see it, please ignore it.

Because it’s bugging the SHIT out of ME!!!!

I'm OCD…..what can I tell you?

Oh, and before I forget, I will also be purchasing my own domain name for this blog sometime this week. So if things get a bit strange when you click over on my blog link, just know that it will be going through a transition period. I read a few stories on Blogger forums, that sometimes it can take a few days for things to fully make the transition. So say a prayer for me that it goes SMOOTHLY.

If I have any trouble, I’ll post and let you know.

My blog feed may also change, so I’ll let you know if you have to change it in your readers. But I also heard that my feed changes over automatically.

So…welcome to my new blog design!

Please let me know in your comments if something is not easy to read, like the fonts or link colors. Are they too light? Too dark ?

Oh, and one more thing….the pageload.

Did this template load at a decent speed for you? I does for me, but I don’t know how it is on other browsers.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback everyone.

It is currently 1:30 a.m., and I've been working on this new template remodeling for HOURS, so it's time to go to bed. I'm a'pooped!

Have a grreeeeeeeeeat week!

And Happy 4th of July, America!

  1. hi ron, love this whole new look-course, you know i am not the one to ask, the queen of changing my blog look...geez, that blog is such a clothes freak.
this loaded faster actually and no line do i see up there either so maybe it's just your computer. i have one little thingy and that is under my blog's name in the art category-the word muses probably should just stay muse as i am not the 'vulture peak' but rather it is the muse that is everywhere where i live, if that made any sense, getting late here too...no matter if you'd rather leave it as is, sweet friend. sleep tight, glad you get some nice long vaca-time. much lovexoxoo

  2. Hi Ronnie,
Happy 4th of July, America!! God bless ya.

Oooh a new look! Simple and crisp. The colors are adult and subdued. No; I can't see that line that you are talking about.

And Ronnie is on vacation; Yay!! Good for ya! I haven't yet dwelved into templates. Get out and enjoy also.

Big hugs to ya, sweetheart. Thinking a lot about Philly today. I am always humbled when I think about the place where the USA was born.
    Hugs xoxo

  3. Nice change Ron. I like it too :-)

I don't see the thin line on my computer. That is kind of weird !

About your blog feed, I suggest you create a permanent url for it at feedburner.com

That way even when change / update your domain url, the rest of us can still read your updates.

Just head out to feedburner, and let us know in the next post.

  4. Nice new look Ron! It loaded fine for me and I don't see the black line you mentioned so everything here is hunky dory for me. :)

  5. Toast to you, and America! Changes are always great. This one does look cleaner and thus more stylish. I do have to say though that I was perfectly happy with the old one too.

I see no black line. All clear in Paris town... Huggedy-hugs!

  6. I *LOVE* the new look, Ron! It's much more visually appealing. I daresay, it's faaaaaaaaabulous!! And there's no black line between the date and title for me. You say OCD, I say it's more a case of WHISKEY.

I also like the "Older Post" button at the bottom - that's easier to find and click on. Great job!

Enjoy your long vacation - sounds like you've earned it!

  7. Good Morning Linda~

" you know i am not the one to ask, the queen of changing my blog look...geez, that blog is such a clothes freak."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, but I LOVE how whenever I stop by your blog, it has a whole DRESS on!

I'm so glad to hear that it loaded fast because that was one of my concerns. Some blogs take FOREVER to load. Also glad to hear that you see no line. In fact, everyone said they saw no line. Geesh...I wonder why I see it?

And THANK YOU for letting me know about the muse versus MUSES. I will change it immediately.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by and for your feedback. Have wonderful holiday, dear friend!

And a HAPPY 4th of July to you too, my American friend!

Thank you, glad you like the new look. And I'm glad to hear you see no line - yippeeeeee!

Yes, I plan on a few little day trips while I'm on this vacation. One, to NYC. And one, over to East Falls. Can't wait!

  9. Yeah, it's great. I don't see a black line, everything is clear, oh and I lurve those separation bars on the side bar. They look like leather belts! The blog opened straight away as well. What else can I say? Nuffink! I'm a demon for changing my template look, or rather the template backgrounds. And I get a kick out of starting new blogs... stupid or what. I've just started one for my local WI and heehee all of a sudden the girls there think I'm God's gift. See the effect I have on computer illiterate folk? Hope you're having a wonderful 4th July, you independent thing you x

  11. Hey Jaffer~

I think that's kind of weird too because everyone who has left comments said they see NO thin line. I wonder I do - and only on my laptop?

    Oh well...glad it's not visible.

"About your blog feed, I suggest you create a permanent url for it at feedburner.com"

Thank you for letting me know that. I have account with feedburner already, so when I get my new URL I just update my account.

You're always so helpful, Jaffer. Thank you, buddy!

And thank you for stopping by. Have a great week!

Yes, change it good. I liked my other one too, but every couple of years I like to change things up a bit. I've had so many various styles in the past 4 1/2 years.

Glad to hear you like the new template and that you see no black line. Yipeeeee! I guess I'm the only one who sees it because no one else does.

Thank you for stopping by, beautiful lady. Always a delight to read your comments.

Funny you mentioned the "Older Post" button because thought SAME thing!!! I like how it's highlighted. I also like how each comment is lightly outlined.

" And there's no black line between the date and title for me. You say OCD, I say it's more a case of WHISKEY."

Bwhahahahahaahhahahahaaha! You CRACK me up, man!!!

Glad to hear you see no black line.

Thank you, so glad you like the new look and that you see no black line. Apparently, I'm the only who sees it because no one else does.

" I lurve those separation bars on the side bar. They look like leather belts!"

Yes, me too! I also like how it's across the header on the top color.

" I'm a demon for changing my template look, or rather the template backgrounds."

Me too. When I first started blogging, I changed the look of my template every few months. I think the last design I had was the longest I ever had one, so it was time for change.

"I've just started one for my local WI and heehee all of a sudden the girls there think I'm God's gift. See the effect I have on computer illiterate folk? "

  20. Hello Lady Dianne~

"even the comment section looks prettier."

Thank you...that's what liked about this template too. I like how each comment is highlighted in a thin line - makes everyone's comments more personal.

"I love the film strip motif as headers, wonderful way to create a theme
    and the colors are soothing"

That's what sold me on this design. It's so hard to find a template that suits the theme of my blog. And I also like how the header goes all the way across the top. Aren't the colors nice? They're there, but not TOO strong.

Great to hear you see no line. Apparently, I'm the only one who sees it. I wonder why?

Thanks oodles for stopping by, dear lady.

Happy 4th of July to you and your family!

  21. Oooh, new colours!! No, I don't see a black line, and it loaded nice and fast, too. No problems here that I can see - and you know I like a nice, clean blog design!

Could it be a matter of resolution, that line? Is your laptop a higher or lower res than your PC? Just guessing, because basically, I know nothing!

Thanks for your lovely comments, Ron. You're such a nice guy. xx

OMG...thank you for sharing that thought because it never occured to me it could be the resolution on my laptop. And yes, my laptop does have a higher HD resolution. I'll try adjusting the settings.

    Thank you...

...And I too see the black line and yeah, that would drive me crazy, altho' it'd be a short drive but it'd drive me there nonetheless! lol... And the page loaded very quickly!

...I'm loving this and 'Bravo!' to you on a job well done my friend! That is a lot of work doing this on your own, you kind of leave your computer after a few hours dazed and confused. lol

"Love the color combo - so urban hip!"

    I love it....urban hip!!!

So YOU see the black line too????? OMG...I thought I was the only one because everyone else commented that they didn't see it. It could be as Jay said....the resolution on our computers. My laptop has a higher resolution, probably too high, so I may have to adjust it today. My desk top is older, so it doesn't have the resolution my laptop does.

Yeah, it was a lot of work, but also fun. The hardest part was redoing all the links on my side bar - Oy...it took a lot of time.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, dear lady. Always a delight seeing you!

We all need a change sometimes. I have different backgrounds for my different blogs. I don't mess with them toooo much because I'm afraid I'll really mess something up. LOL

I can't see that line you speak of.

And I'm so glad to hear you don't see the black line. So far, it's only been me and Humble Origins that see it. I do think it's the resolution on my laptop because I'm currently on my desktop and I don't see it.

HAPPY 4th to you too!! No big plans for me either. I spent the afternoon walking around the city taking pictures. And the heat wasn't too bad. I think it's because the humidity was low.

  33. i'm not a huge fan of green, but i totally get you when you mentioned how much you love white background n its time for a change. i did that too! i'm not sure if you were at my blog when it was still white. like yours, mine remained white for quite a number of years before i started to feel like redesigning the whole page. hah! fortunately, i didn't see the thin line between the post title n date. how about changing its color to white? like that it won't be visible unless you highlight that particular area.

Oh, you mean the cartoon of Bette Davis? Yeah, I kinda miss her too. I'm looking into possibly finding a cartoon character (or movie graphic) that I can place in the opening sidebar widget. The problem is, is that I have to find one that is transparent because of the colored background. I have a caricature of me that I may try to make transparent, so I can place it there.

Ah well--it's a beauty nonetheless. I like the 'older post' deal, and I like the easy, clean read. (bifocals....clean and easy read is desired...LOL)

And I just like the 'feel' of it, yaknow....like you did some housekeeping and a bit of redesign, but that you didn't really 'change' what's true about here. It's easy, it's fun, it's simple and attractive/pleasing. (specially the wrap around film strip thingies)

Great! Glad you didn't see the line. No, I didn't fix anything, but I think it has to do with viewing it on my laptop which has a high HD resolution. I'm on my laptop now, and I see it :(

I think it has something to do with the resolution on some monitors, however I will check the css file. I never looked there.

Yup...I think you're right because I'm on my laptop now and I see it too!

Anyway, I'm so glad you like the new template. Yes, the font is a bit larger on this template so I think it makes reading more easy on the eyes. I also changed the font to Verdana, because it was set to Arial. And to me, Verdana seems the easiest font to read online. That's what my other template had too.

"And I just like the 'feel' of it, yaknow....like you did some housekeeping and a bit of redesign, but that you didn't really 'change' what's true about here. It's easy, it's fun, it's simple and attractive/pleasing."
