photo from the web that my brother Tom emailed me |
This is the time of year when nature begins to awaken from a long, deep slumber.
Trees begin to bud; flowers begin to blossom; the earth begins to spout a fresh green carpet.
In as much as I relish fall and winter, I truly enjoy this time of the year because for me it represents a time of rebirth – wiping the sleep from my eyes and viewing the world anew.
Spring lets me know that I can begin again, taking what I have learned in the past and apply it to the present. There are no such things as mistakes or wrong choices, as long I learned something.
The seasons of nature are the perfect analogy to the cycles in life.
I live. I rest and gestate. I am altered and then rebooted.
Earlier this week I took a long walk around the city; snapping photographs. And it was a stunning day! The sun was shining, the air was crisp and dry, and there was a buzz of excitement in the energy that surrounded me.
Here are some images I captured, which reminded me that spring has sprung; bringing with it light, color, fragrance, and reboot.
Please enjoy…

Allow me to conclude this post with a smidgen of Easter humor....
Happy Easter everyone!
Wishing you a beautiful season of reboot and humor.

Ron, l loved this post! I could really feel the 'spring' in your step while reading it. Beautiful photos too! Calla lilies are one of my favorites as well. If I ever marry, I want calla lilies to be the flower I carry and at the reception. They're gorgeous, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your take on spring being a reboot!
Happy Easter, Ron, and have a wonderful weekend.
P.S. Love the photo of the dog. How cute!
So, Ron. Do you want to depress me even more than I already am? I look out of our windows at snow and we have below freezing temperatures and you post this?
ReplyDeleteHa ha! What lovely photos and what distant memories they bring back to me, of lovely Spring days :)
Bonjour Barb~
ReplyDeleteIsn't the photo of the dog BEYOND adorable??? OMG...what a sweet, precious face! And I would love to know HOW they got the flower to stay on his nose? Photoshop perhaps?
"Spring is indeed the "renaissance" of life and the colors and light that is what gets me jump started."
LOVE how you said that, Barb...."renaissance"......it's true!!!!
"Just enjoy each day and give thanks for the little things each time that you are alive."
Amen!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Wishing you and D a beeeeautiful Easter and weekend!
Much X to you both!
XOXOXOXO
Hey there Babs!
ReplyDelete"Do you want to depress me even more than I already am? I look out of our windows at snow and we have below freezing temperatures and you post this?"
HAHAHHAHHAHAHA! Actually, we've pretty much had the same weather (snow and freezing temps). However, the day I took these shots it was stunning - it felt and looked just like spring! Yet, April can be very weird, so I'm not putting away my winter clothes because it can turn around and snow in April. We once had a blizzard on April 25th about 4 years ago.
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, Babs. Wishing you and Mo a lovely, lovely Easter and weekend!
X to you both!
What a great read, Ron! You really got me all excited about Spring, except in my parts it's been looking more like Fall moving into Winter. Will this winter EVER end?!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love the one you took inside Macy's flower show with the two women standing in the background. Is that a pool of water I see in the center? Hilarious cartoon!
Happy Easter, Ron! Enjoy those Cadbury eggs!
Hiya Matt!
ReplyDelete"...except in my parts it's been looking more like Fall moving into Winter. Will this winter EVER end?!"
I know what you mean because it's kinda the same here. However, the day I took these photos it was the first time it actually looked and felt like spring. Yet, I have a sneaking feeling winter ain't over.
Yes, that IS a pool of water in the center. The theme of this year's flower show is India, so the flowers are all very exotic. And I think it's just to ironic that when I took the photo, two Indian women were standing there!!!
Happy Easter to you too, buddy. And have a super weekend!
X
Happy Easter Ron! Love the photos! Such a gorgeous day. Spring really is a time to shed the old winter fog and shine. I know for me, it is the time change. I get so down during the dark days of winter. Springing ahead to sunshine and flowers makes me so happy. :-)
ReplyDelete*waving*
ReplyDeleteHi Angelia!
And Happy Easter to you too, my friend!
"Spring really is a time to shed the old winter fog and shine."
I LOVE how you said that because you're right, spring is most definitely a time of shedding and beginning new! Like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon.
"Springing ahead to sunshine and flowers makes me so happy. :-)"
Meeeeee too!
Much thanks for stopping! Have a glorious weekend!

Oh please don't let it snow....pleasepleaseplease.... LOL Seriously, every week for the past five weeks....straight.
ReplyDeleteIt was 50 today and I sat on a patio chair that got drug out just for me...and I watched robins running between piles of snow. It has been a rough start to spring here, but I' m hoping it's arrived. Definitely not to the flowering tree stage that you've got going on...but I'm starting to actually hope!
What a lucky fella to have the flower show. And what vibrant captures of the "reboot". I like that...cuz that's pretty true for the season.
I like to experience the seasons, to have the changes that come with them be more than just decorations, yaknow? So I get excited and find myself marveling at the simplest things. But I adore the simple.
Awesome AWESOME photos. Thank you for that taste of what will come. And Joyous Easter to you, sir.
"Pink blossoms" and "yellow blossoms" made me laugh. I can't tell for sure , but I'm guessing the yellow is forsythia? And maybe a plum or cherry tree for the pink?
ReplyDeleteWe are slowly, slowly warming back up here with plenty of rain. Should be good for lots of new flowers! I can't wait.
Hiya Mel!
ReplyDelete"Oh please don't let it snow....pleasepleaseplease.... LOL Seriously, every week for the past five weeks....straight."
OMG...NO, the past five weeks STRAIGHT?!?!? It has amazed me the amount of snow you got this year, when we got practically nada.
"It was 50 today and I sat on a patio chair that got drug out just for me...and I watched robins running between piles of snow."
Oh, how wonderful. Well, at least you got a promise that spring will be arriving soon. It JUST starting getting 'spring-like' here, because it's been like a yo-yo - one day it's nice, the next it's gray and bitter cold, with rain.
"I like to experience the seasons.."
Me too, Mel! I can't believe I lived in Florida for 20 years and didn't miss it until I moved back east. I never realized how much I LOVED the changes in seasons.
Thanks oodles for stopping by, dear lady. Have glorious weekend and a Happy, Happy Easter!
(((((( You ))))))
X ya!
Hellooooooooo Secret Agent Woman~
ReplyDeleteOMG...I just this second finished leaving a comment on your post!
""Pink blossoms" and "yellow blossoms" made me laugh. I can't tell for sure , but I'm guessing the yellow is forsythia? And maybe a plum or cherry tree for the pink?"
I'm so ignorant to what plants, trees and flowers are called, so you're probably right....forsythia and plum or cherry tree. Thanks for letting me know!
"We are slowly, slowly warming back up here with plenty of rain. Should be good for lots of new flowers! I can't wait."
It's been the same here too. But the day I took these photos is was as if spring finally arrived. Yet, I won't hold my breath because April can be a strange month with weather.
Thanks for stopping by, girl. Have a glorious weekend and Happy Easter!

Happy Easter Day, Ron!
ReplyDeleteAw...and a Happy Easter Day to you too, girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by...X
Great analogy about the seasons, Ron. The only problem is, I wish I could figure out what some of these lessons are as I'm going through them. It would make it so much easier!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, as usual. Hope you had a great Easter!
Hey there Chrissy!
ReplyDelete"The only problem is, I wish I could figure out what some of these lessons are as I'm going through them. It would make it so much easier!"
HA! I know what you mean, because the lessons always seem to come AFTER going through something, not during. It's looking BACK, that I usually find the lesson.
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, girl. Yes, I had a nice quiet and peaceful Easter day. Hope you and the gang had a Happy Easter!
X ya!
"And I think it's just to ironic that when I took the photo, two Indian women were standing there!!!"
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool, Ron!
I got lucky!
ReplyDeleteThe changing of the seasons can have strange effects on people. Spring is all about renewal, I totally agree. And with a warmth cutting through the chill air, and the smell of blooming flowers overloading the senses, it's no wonder you feel recharged! Awesome post, my friend...and great snaps!
ReplyDeleteHey there Herman!
ReplyDelete"The changing of the seasons can have strange effects on people."
You're absolutely right, they can. Some are welcomed, yet others like winter (especially here in the north east), can be sooooo UGH for some folks.
"Spring is all about renewal, I totally agree. And with a warmth cutting through the chill air, and the smell of blooming flowers overloading the senses, it's no wonder you feel recharged!"
You said it, buddy!
Much thanks for stopping by. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and Happy Easter!
X to you, Karin, and Mr. Tyler!
Spring lets me know that I can begin again, taking what I have learned in the past and apply it to the present. Beautifully said...just like your spring pics of the city. Love them!
ReplyDeleteLove your pics Ron. It's nothing like spring here, it's so COLD!
ReplyDeleteAs always love the photos! So jealous of all the flowers. Still have snow on the ground here.
ReplyDeleteHey there Lisa~
ReplyDeleteThank you, my friend. Hope you had a glorious Easter day!
X
Hey there Pearl~
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
"It's nothing like spring here, it's so COLD!"
Yes, that's what many of my UK friends have shared also. It's just starting to get warmer here. We have a few days of cold weather, and then a few days of warmth. It's been like a yo-yo.
Hope you had a glorious Easter, m'dear. Thanks so much for stopping by! Can't wait to read all about your trip!
X
Hiya Jen!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
" So jealous of all the flowers. Still have snow on the ground here."
It's just starting to feel like spring here. We keep getting a few days of spring-like weather, and then it suddenly drops down into freezing temps. April can be very strange with the weather - like a yo-yo.
Thanks for stopping by, girl! Have a great week!

I ate a Cadbury egg and thought of you, Ron!
ReplyDeleteHA! Aren't they the BEST????
ReplyDeleteX
Macy's flower show? How marvelous! We're getting quite the flower show here now. Tons of poppies and, my favorite, bright blue lupines all over the rural countryside. Pretty soon new foals with be born and that's when we know it's really spring. I feel exactly the same way about Spring that you do. My very favorite season. Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteHiya Jayne!
ReplyDeleteYes, each year in March and April, Macy's does a flower show with a different them. This year it was India!
"We're getting quite the flower show here now. Tons of poppies and, my favorite, bright blue lupines all over the rural countryside. Pretty soon new foals with be born and that's when we know it's really spring."
Sounds BEAUTIFUL, Jayne! I bet the flowers in CA are stunning! Aren't poppies such a happy-looking flower?
Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Hope you had a delightful Easter!
Again....I LOVED your post yesterday!!!
Enjoy your week!

You know how much I love living in an area where there are distinct seasons. I love them all, Fall my FAV of course! Spring, I'm very much looking forward to this year. (Yeah, I know it's arrived on the calendar, but just not quite the weather yet.) Our yard looks like something out of a horror flick and needs quite a bit of attention. Will I have the the time/energy to get out there and do the work... that remains to be seen. ha!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Love the Macy's flower show one... maybe it's the tent in the background? The last one, such a hoot!
Helloooooo Mary!
ReplyDelete" Spring, I'm very much looking forward to this year. (Yeah, I know it's arrived on the calendar, but just not quite the weather yet.)"
I know, has the weather here been SCHIZOID?!!? One week it's gorgeous, the next (like this week) it feels as though we're still in WINTER.
" Love the Macy's flower show one... maybe it's the tent in the background?"
The theme this year is INDIA, so that's the reason for the tent. They also have some beautiful India print umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. I like this years flowers, but not as much as the previous years.
Thanks for stopping by, neighbor! Hope you're enjoying a FAB week!

I love the rebirth feeling of Spring too. However, I hate the allergies that come along with it!
ReplyDeleteACHOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fab photos, by the way!
Hey Meleah~
ReplyDelete" However, I hate the allergies that come along with it!"
It's so ironic you said that because this is the FIRST spring season that I've had allergies. In fact, I'm suffering with them right now. I thought I had cold, but then realized it was allergies to the pollen - OY!
Thanks so much for stopping by, girl!
X
I've been sneezing like crazy for a week!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Fall and Winter, I do have to admit, Spring has its own charms, as well. I was driving down a pink-blossoming-tree-lined street yesterday and was struck by the beauty of the scene. Well played, Nature. Well played.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Easter weekend, Ron!
Great photos to celebrate spring! I love the first one because I can almost feel the warmth of the sun on the building......almost!
ReplyDeleteI love the calla lilies too. So classy! Looking back, I never remember appreciating spring a a kid as much as I have as an adult. Maybe because the cold didn't bother me so much back then. Now I just want to soak up the sunshine and say Halllelujah!
Hi Ronnie,
ReplyDeletePut it there, bro; I adore Spring, too!
Photos! How adorable to see that dog with a blossom on his nose. And all of Philly's flowers were wonderful§§
Spring is indeed the "renaissance" of life and the colors and light that is what gets me jump started. I like Spring the best of all also for the hope that it brings. We all survived winter and the colors and life reward us each day.
Just enjoy each day and give thanks for the little things each time that you are alive.
Happy Easter to you, too. Go ahead and eat some chocolate; it's good for the soul ;)
xoxo
Barb
Hiya Mark~
ReplyDelete"As much as I love Fall and Winter, I do have to admit, Spring has its own charms, as well."
I know, you and I are SUCH fall and winter people, however spring does have its own charm. It's summer, I can't stand :(
"I was driving down a pink-blossoming-tree-lined street yesterday and was struck by the beauty of the scene. Well played, Nature. Well played."
Sounds AWESOME, Mark!!!
Thanks for stopping by, buddy. Have a Happy Easter and weekend!
X to you and Tara!
Ron, I'm just green that your Spring is so much farther along than ours!! I love your photos -- those pink and yellow blossoms are beautiful, as is that lovely bouquet.
ReplyDeleteI so agree -- "wiping the sleep from my eyes and viewing the world anew" sounds like a welcome way to greet this new season of rebirth!
I think spring and fall are my favorite seasons (perhaps because they're both so changeable?!?). I enjoy the promise they both bring, one for long, sunny, warm days, and the other for cold, "cocoon-ing" days beside a crackling fireplace!
Happy Easter -- hope your find the golden egg!
Hellooooooooo Debbie!
ReplyDelete"Ron, I'm just green that your Spring is so much farther along than ours!!"
Actually, this week was the first sign of REAL spring in our parts. But I have a feeling that it will be a yo-yo effect until May - up and down - because I've seen it SNOW here in April.
"I think spring and fall are my favorite seasons (perhaps because they're both so changeable?!?). I enjoy the promise they both bring, one for long, sunny, warm days, and the other for cold, "cocoon-ing" days beside a crackling fireplace!"
I LOVE how you said that because it's how I feel as well - they're both so changeable.
" and the other for cold, "cocoon-ing" days beside a crackling fireplace!"
OMG...I so enjoy that first crisp day of fall. You can smell the fireplaces burning in the city while walking about. LOVE it!!
Always fab seeing ya, Debbie! Much thanks for stopping by.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter!!!!!!

As I've shared before, I love the way you write, Ron.
ReplyDelete"I live. I rest and gestate. I am altered and then rebooted."
Brilliant. I never thought of spring as a reboot, as if a time to begin again. Really beautiful photos because they each contain the feel of the season. That first shot of the sun shining between the buildings is my favorite. wow! Love the cartoon as well.
Happy Easter, Ron!
Hey ho Robert~
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
Last night while I was putting this post together the word REBOOT came to mind, so I decided to use it. Because in a way, spring is a kind of a reboot.
The shot of the sun and building was one of the last shots I took that day. It was truly one of the most gorgeous spring days we've had so far. I wanted to bottle it up and keep it - HA!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Wishing you and your family a Happy Easter and reboot! Enjoy the weekend!

I think we have all made bad choices in our lives at some point...the important thing is that we learn from them!! Yes! Spring does feel like a rebirth...a reboot of sorts! A lifting of the mood! A lifting of all the cloudy, grey skies of winter! I am so ready to head south! It is still in the 20's here at night! Very odd for this late in March. Happy Easter Ron! LOVED your pictures...thank you so much for sharing your joy!!
ReplyDeleteXo Jeanne
Good morning Jeanne~

"Spring does feel like a rebirth...a reboot of sorts! A lifting of the mood! A lifting of all the cloudy, grey skies of winter!"
Amen!
" I am so ready to head south!"
Oh, I bet you can't WAIT to take your road trip this year!
Yes, it's still cold here in the evenings as well, but the daytime seems to be just perfect.
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Happy Easter to you, your family, and the girlz!

"There are no such things as mistakes or wrong choices, as long I learned something."
ReplyDeleteBrilliant observation, Ron! Speaking as one who is constantly second-guessing myself, I really appreciate your view on life. The photos are beautiful; they really tell us that Spring is here. And I love the cartoon!
Have a Happy Easter, buddy, and don't eat too many chocolate bunnies!
Hey there Rob~
ReplyDelete"Speaking as one who is constantly second-guessing myself, I really appreciate your view on life."
I think we ALL second-guess ourselves as times. But I've learned that no matter WHAT choice I make, I can always learn from it. That's why I don't believe in wrong choices, no matter how wrong they may seem at the time.
Thank you, isn't the cartoon hilarious?
" and don't eat too many chocolate bunnies!"
HA! It's the Cadbury Eggs I have to watch out for because I LOVE them!
Happy Easter, buddy, and much thanks for stopping by!

spring does feel like a reboot, ron. i've made mistakes, bad choices and have learned from them as well. tho' sometimes i rather not have gone through the experience, even if some say it's the best teacher. some things i rather not experience. ;)
ReplyDeletei suppose like flowers, we can bud and grow again. i always say, where there is life there is hope.
love the pics: the first one is my fav, but you know i love the calli lillies too. have a great weekend. the sun is out this morning and i believe the weekend is supposed to be nice. sunshine makes me smile.
Hey there V Girl!
ReplyDelete"spring does feel like a reboot, ron."
Yes, it does. And I suddenly realized that last night, as I was writing this post.
" i've made mistakes, bad choices and have learned from them as well. tho' sometimes i rather not have gone through the experience, even if some say it's the best teacher. some things i rather not experience. ;)"
Yet if we didn't experience those things, we not might ever have learned the lessons they taught us for the future. I'm a huge believer that everything happens for a reason :)
"i suppose like flowers, we can bud and grow again. i always say, where there is life there is hope."
LOVE that, Val!!!!
Aren't calla lilies just so lovely? So simple, classy, yet utterly elegant.
Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Happy Easter to you and your family. Enjoy the sunshine this weekend!

Hey there Bijoux!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) I took that first shot at the end of my walk, while coming home. I was walking down an alley between two building and looked up and saw the sun shining.
"I love the calla lilies too. So classy!"
Aren't calla lilies faaaaaaaabulous??? I love to see them in a tall, clear glass vase, sitting on a table. Stunning!
" Looking back, I never remember appreciating spring a a kid as much as I have as an adult. Maybe because the cold didn't bother me so much back then. Now I just want to soak up the sunshine and say Halllelujah!"
Same here. And yet it's odd, because back when I was a kid, you could really feel and see a shift in the season change. Whereas now, spring seems to come and go so fast, directly into summer. My most vivid memory of spring when I was a kid, was getting a new Easter suit and hat for Sunday mass - HA!
Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Happy Easter to you and your family!

Loved this post, Ron. It was so refreshing to read about rebirth and to see the wonderful spring photographs. I am, of course, jealous as hell because here the spring blossom is late and it is still freezing. Our temps are still in minus figures and I'm fed-up! But, hey, it is Easter. I should be celebrating instead of complaining. Hope you have a super Easter.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Valerie!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
" I am, of course, jealous as hell because here the spring blossom is late and it is still freezing. Our temps are still in minus figures and I'm fed-up!"
The weather here has been erratic as well. One day it's freezing and snowing, the next it feels as though spring has arrived. On the day I took these photos, it was stunningly perfect. It was the first day I actually saw buds on the trees; sprouting color!
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Happy Easter to you and have a fantastic weekend!
