If any of you ladies or gents who are on Google+ have sent me an email notification to join a circle or connect, and noticed that I haven't respond, it’s not because I’m ignoring you. It’s because I didn’t intentionally join Google+, but rather accidentally clicked the wrong button on my You Tube account associated with that email address.
Google has a way of doing that. They confuse you so that you don't know WHAT to click on; hoping that you'll click on the thing they WANT you to click.
And because I'm not sure I want to get anymore involved with Google+ until I'm 100% certain I want to, I haven't touched a thing on my Google+ page in fear of what it will do. Which is why I haven't joined any circles or connected with anyone. I haven't even set up my profile page because I don't want to mess with it.
The only thing I'm HUGELY grateful for is that my blog is not connected to Google+ because my blog is on a different Google account.
To be honest, I have always had strong reservations about joining Google+ because of the horror stories I’ve read about not being able to unjoin without losing all the services you have connected to that account because they make it nearly impossible to do it. Also, I find Google+ to be VERY invasive. It’s like it wants to get into all your business and merge all your accounts into one; forever using pop-up notifications, asking you, "Would you like to use the same name on this account? Would you like to use one email address?"
And I'm not interested in doing either of those things because I want to keep my two accounts separate.
Sometimes Google gives me the creeps because it’s like they’re always monitoring and watching what you're doing...
As you can tell from the social media buttons on my sidebar, I don’t belong to many. And even the ones I do belong to I don’t really use them to socialize, I use them more for either hosting my pictures and videos, or use them for research. So truthfully, I don't need another social media account.
For me, blogging takes up most of my time. And blogging is where I find the most quality of online socializing, community, and creativity.
Anyway, the reason I wanted to share this post is to get your feedback on Google+, if I could.
Do you use it?
Do you like it?
And if you do use it and like it, what do you use it for and what are some of the benefits?
Or...do you regret ever getting involved with it?
Thank you for your feedback, peeps!
*Note: I'm sure after Google reads this they will delete all my accounts associated with them and abolish me from the Internet. So if I suddenly disappear, please know that I'm probably floating around in cyberspace without any name, rank or serial number.
I'll just be an Internet void. Lost in space...

Have a SUPER weekend everyone!

Ron, you have touched on a subject that needs dealing with ... if I only knew how.
ReplyDelete'Do you use it?Do you like it?
And if you do use it and like it, what do you use it for and what are some of the benefits?
Or...do you regret ever getting involved with it?'
Answers in order of questions:
No, to both.
I haven't discovered any benefits!
Yes!
Like you I was tricked into it though how it happened is a mystery. I didn't look for it and I didn't want it, but suddenly there it was. Mine!
Have you noticed that Google+ snatches your pictures and messes about with them? I recently posted a pic on the blog about Redwing birds and next thing I knew someone or something had turned it into a moving gif. I didn't ask for it and I didn't want it but I couldn't stop it.
As for circles, I am still trying to find the point of them! I gave it a go, thinking it might be interesting ... have now switched off. I'll stick to blogging, thank you very much.
Okay, it's Friday... let's cheer up haha. Have a nice one, dear friend.
Hey, Ron! I don't have much dealings with Google + and after reading your post I don't think I want to, Sounds a bit too 1984 for me.
ReplyDelete"Blogging takes up most of my time. And blogging is where I find the most quality of online socializing, community, and creativity."
Sounds fine to me, buddy! You do a great job as a blogger, so why not stick with what works? Take care, have a great weekend, and watch out for the Google-roids!
I also had a picture in my blog turned into a gif this week! So irritating!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way you do, Ron. I've had multiple issues with it on my iPad and sometimes it won't let me log into Blogger without requesting my cell phone number!!! WTF? I then have to log out and start over as I'm not about to give them a phone number.
ReplyDeleteI was really pissed last week when I got an email saying that one of my husbands ex-girlfriends from over 30 years ago put me in her Circles. I have no idea how she got my personal email, but suspect it was through another inlaw who must keep in touch with her and she was somehow linked to me. So invasive!
Thanks for allowing us to vent on the topic! Haha
Hi Ron. I have a Google+ account which I use purely to promote Diary of an Internet Nobody and to follow other blogs. I'm not sure I get much traffic from it, but I do know I get a whole shitload of email notifications when anyone I follow posts anything. On average I get about 60 emails a day from Google+ alone.
ReplyDeleteAbsolute ____ing pain in the arse.
My advice, don't do it.
In a word - Don't.
ReplyDeleteOf course it's an 'each to his own' thing, but I did join it and only used it for a very short time. Just long enough to make all my various circles and then stopped using it, as I did with almost all the social media sites I've joined, over the years. Facebook is the only one I use and I don't really do a lot on that. I basically continue with Facebook, because I have blogger friends that seem to use Facebook instead of blogging now.
I found Google+, and many others, just a place for people to self promote. I came across a blog, during my photo challenge, that only let me comment using Google+ and it posted my comment to my Google+ account. I was not happy about that.
I fear that Google is becoming just like Big Brother. I think we would be shocked at how much it knows about us and our behaviour. It's even taken over our blog feeds now and I mean self hosted blogs.
There seems to be no way of escaping Google.
P. B******* S! I just opened my account and I've found tons of posts of comments I have made on blogs and Youtube, that I DIDN'T post! How do they do that? I may look to see if there is a way to close my account.
ReplyDeleteI understand know many people with the same reservations. I was unaware Google collected information and monitored accounts until AFTER I joined!
ReplyDeleteGoogle +? I have no idea what it is. :(
ReplyDeleteRon, I've heard the same thing about Google+, which is why I haven't used it. I know a few people who do use it and said that once they joined, they hated it because all their information was being used after they posted it. So my advice is to not get involved.
ReplyDeleteGoogle on the whole has gotten way too invasive and pushy.
Love the last picture of you floating is space!
Have a wonderful weekend Ron x
Good morning Valerie!
ReplyDelete"Answers in order of questions:No, to both.
I haven't discovered any benefits!
Yes!"
Great, thanks for letting me know that. And in all honesty, I can't see the benefit it either.
"Like you I was tricked into it though how it happened is a mystery. I didn't look for it and I didn't want it, but suddenly there it was. Mine!"
OMG...can you BELIEVE that?!?! I somehow clicked on something on my You Tube account one day and SUDDENLY...there it was!
"Have you noticed that Google+ snatches your pictures and messes about with them?"
Yes! Yes! Yes! The same thing happened to me! And I couldn't understand HOW that was happening because I hadn't even posted anything on Google+, they were snatching my photos from my blog posts in DRAFT on a practice blog that I use, before I ever even posted them on THIS blog. I did however, figure a way in the settings how to block that from happening.
"I'll stick to blogging, thank you very much."
Amen!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your feedback, dear lady. I really appreciate that.
Have a super weekend!
X to you and Joe!
Hey there Rob!
ReplyDelete"Sounds a bit too 1984 for me."
HA! Exactly! And judging from everyone's comments here, I will not be getting anymore involved with it.
Blogging for me is the best way to socialize and be creative online. So you're right, I think I'll just stick to what works.
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most excellent weekend!
X
Good morning Pearl!
ReplyDeleteThat's probably best because Google+ is a MESS. So don't go near it.
Thanks for stopping by, m'dear. Have a lovely weekend!
X
Hey there Suzi!
ReplyDelete"I was unaware Google collected information and monitored accounts until AFTER I joined!"
I know, can you believe that? They get into all your business.
And judging from the comments left here from people who do use it, I'm not getting anymore involved with it than just having it there, but not touching it. And I really would like to delete it permanently.
Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a grrrrrrreat weekend!
X
Hola Denise!
ReplyDelete"I know a few people who do use it and said that once they joined, they hated it because all their information was being used after they posted it. So my advice is to not get involved."
I know, I keep hearing the same thing. And I also heard that if you delete it, it comes back. WTF?
"Google on the whole has gotten way too invasive and pushy."
Thank you very much!
Much thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback, girl. Have a wonderful weekend too!
X
I can take it or leave it. I am on Google+, but don't use it for posting anything. I'd like to have FB posts link to Google+, but right now it only works the other way around. I only like it for the Hangout capability. So, it's there....but it's not! Honestly, the last thing I need is yet another social media site to update.
ReplyDeleteHey there Bijoux!
ReplyDelete"'ve had multiple issues with it on my iPad and sometimes it won't let me log into Blogger without requesting my cell phone number!!! WTF? I then have to log out and start over as I'm not about to give them a phone number."
OMG...you're kidding me, they asked for your cell phone number?!?! See, that's what I mean about Google+ getting in all your business. And I'm sure they're using all this information to sell to different businesses. WAY too invasive!
"I have no idea how she got my personal email, but suspect it was through another inlaw who must keep in touch with her and she was somehow linked to me."
Holy cow! I would have been pissed too!
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your feedback. Yup, I don't think I'll be getting anymore involved with Google+, other than just having a blank page.
Have a super weekend, my friend!
X
Hey there Babs!
ReplyDelete"Facebook is the only one I use and I don't really do a lot on that. I basically continue with Facebook, because I have blogger friends that seem to use Facebook instead of blogging now."
Yes, I know of other bloggers who use Facebook the same way, just to touch base with either their family members or friends. I had an account on FB for about a year, but deleted it because I never used it.
"I came across a blog, during my photo challenge, that only let me comment using Google+ and it posted my comment to my Google+ account. I was not happy about that."
You know, it's funny you mentioned that because I've been noticing on blogs that I read, but don't usually comment, that they are using the Google+ commenting format. Which I can only believe that those comments are being posted ON Google+ as well.
"It's even taken over our blog feeds now and I mean self hosted blogs."
WOW...I had no idea about that?!?
Yup...like you shared....Google is becoming like Big Brother!
Much thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback and experience with Google+. And I think I'll take your advice seriously....don't do it.
Have a super weekend!
X to you and Mo!
"I just opened my account and I've found tons of posts of comments I have made on blogs and Youtube, that I DIDN'T post!"
ReplyDeleteOH. MY. GOD!!!!!!! How do they do that?!?!?
Hey listen, last night I found a website that explained how to delete your Google+ plus account without deleting your entire account.
Here is the link:
http://beginnerworld.blogspot.com/2012/09/how-to-delete-or-remove-google-plus.html
I think I may try to do that sometime this weekend.
X
Ron, the picture of you being lost in Internet Space makes me laugh! I know just what you mean -- there are FAR too many social media options right now, leading the majority of us to sit on the fence and remain undecided.
ReplyDeleteI have a Google+ account. I think at one point I actually messed with my profile page and put a few peeps in circles. But the whole thing became WAY too cumbersome and time-consuming. When you run your own business, write, blog, and have a life, you can't afford to keep signing up for a gazillion different accounts (too many passwords, ha!)
Besides, as you said, blogging is probably my favorite form of online social interaction. The blogging community is interesting, supportive, creative, and just plain FUN -- why, I'd love to scoop up all my blogging friends, put 'em in a room (with plenty to eat!), and let us communicate to our heart's content!!
Have a fabulous weekend, my dear!
Hey there Lisa!
ReplyDelete". I'd like to have FB posts link to Google+, but right now it only works the other way around."
Wow, I had no idea about that because I'm not on FB.
"Honestly, the last thing I need is yet another social media site to update."
Thank you! And I TOTALLY agree with you. I mean how many social media sites can we keep up with? Who has the time?
Much thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback and experience. Appreciate that!
Have a super weekend, my friend!
X
Hellooooooo there Debbie!
ReplyDeleteTee, hee! Thank you. I made that picture over at Face In Hole last night, right before I posted this.
"I have a Google+ account. I think at one point I actually messed with my profile page and put a few peeps in circles. But the whole thing became WAY too cumbersome and time-consuming."
Yes, that's what Google+ seems to me too....WAY cumbersome and time-consuming.
" When you run your own business, write, blog, and have a life, you can't afford to keep signing up for a gazillion different accounts (too many passwords, ha!)"
I soooooooo agree! I mean how many different social media sites can we keep up with and at the same time...do the others things we do? Too much social media seems to distract us from doing what like to do...write, create, and socialize with quality.
"The blogging community is interesting, supportive, creative, and just plain FUN -- why, I'd love to scoop up all my blogging friends, put 'em in a room (with plenty to eat!), and let us communicate to our heart's content!!"
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Much thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback!
Have a FABU weekend, my friend!
X
Ron, don't do it! I made the mistake of setting up an account on Google+ because practically everyone I knew was doing it. The only thing I can say is that I wished I hadn't. Way too intrusive and all too difficult to figure out how it works. And the emails are non-stop.
ReplyDeleteSo just continue to blog on, dude!
ROFL at the photo of you in space!
Hiya Matt!
ReplyDeleteYes, I was thinking of perhaps joining Google+ a while back, but wasn't sure if I really wanted to. But then when it MADE me join, I was like WTF?
"Way too intrusive and all too difficult to figure out how it works. And the emails are non-stop."
Yeah, I think I'll take your advice (as many others here have shared) and NOT fully get involved with Google+. I may even attempt to delete it this weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your feedback, buddy. Appreciate it!
Have a terrific weekend!
X
I just checked, Ron and you're right. I can't delete it , without deleting my complete account. I can't even turn the comments off!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for that link. I will investigate it immediately :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Babs! I'm going to check it out further this weekend!
ReplyDeleteLet's cross our fingers it works!
X
Oh drats! I will check it out on my own account later and see if I can find a way to do it, without deleting my complete account.
ReplyDeleteIf I do, I will email you.
I have an account but never use it. I work with social media on a daily basis, as part of my job, and I am not a fan of Google+. More than anything else, I find it unnecessary. We've already got Facebook, which I think Google+ is trying to emulate (and rather poorly, at that). Plus, like you said, they're invasive as hell. They wanted me to link my YouTube account with them, which I might have accidentally done in frustration myself.
ReplyDeleteHey there Mark!
ReplyDelete" I work with social media on a daily basis, as part of my job, and I am not a fan of Google+. More than anything else, I find it unnecessary."
Great to hear that, Mark! And I agree...I can't see it being anything of an advantage of having.
"They wanted me to link my YouTube account with them, which I might have accidentally done in frustration myself."
That's where I got into trouble because I think I clicked a button on my You Tube account that made me join, and also connected my You Tube account with Google+
Oy Vey!
Thanks a bunch for stopping by and sharing your feedback, buddy. Muchly appreciated!
Have a super weekend!
X to you and Tara!
"For me, blogging takes up most of my time. And blogging is where I find the most quality of online socializing, community, and creativity."
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it right there Ron. I couldn't agree more.
I don't like the direction that Google + seems to be heading. IMO, they are getting way too pushy (for lack of a better word) trying to get bloggers to commit all their content to one place etc...not for me.
With three blogs going and a gazillion projects on the go, I don't need anymore online places/groups to join. That being said, I am on Google + because they gave me no choice with my blogger acct.. But I don't use it unless I have to.
I too want to focus on enjoying posting and reading my fav blogs, not worrying about circles to join, likes, etc..I'm not a FB or Twitter fan either.
WP reader works great for me btw, that I'm fine with. A quick and easy way to keep up with all the WP blogs I follow. That is a timesaver.
Have a wonderful weekend Ron! :-)
Hey there Geraldine!
ReplyDelete"I don't like the direction that Google + seems to be heading. IMO, they are getting way too pushy (for lack of a better word) trying to get bloggers to commit all their content to one place etc...not for me."
I couldn't agree with you more. Pushy! And yes, I noticed that too...they want bloggers to post their content ON Google+. And god only knows what they're doing with it (the content and photographs).
"That being said, I am on Google + because they gave me no choice with my blogger acct."
Yes, that's the thing...when you're on Blogger (which IS Google) they give you no choice, or they make it so confusing that you mistakenly click the wrong button which MAKES you join.
Same here, I don't Twitter or Facebook.
Much thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback and thoughts. Appreciate that!
Have a grrrrrrrrrreat weekend, Geraldine!

I prefer Google as my home page but no, I don't subscribe to a lot of their services because I'm not familiar with them. Have a great weekend Ron!
ReplyDeleteYes, I use Google for my home page as well.
ReplyDelete"I don't subscribe to a lot of their services because I'm not familiar with them.'
Just as well because they all seem to be interconnected, making it challenging to delete one, without deleting them all. So frustrating!
Much thanks for stopping by, Benze! Have a grrrrrreat weekend too!
X
I jumped on the bandwagon because I felt forced...I have no idea how my YouTube account got linked...probably the same way yours did...pressing a button ... then going CRAP!!! I am not a fan of Google+ but in today's world, and dealing with affiliate marketing...they WANT you to be involved in as many different social media channels that you can possibly be involved with!! It makes me crazy. Last night my eyes were so insanely sore that I just shut everything down, turned off my phone and put my eye mask on and went to sleep. Now THAT is definitely UNPLUGGED!! It's just all tooooooo much to keep up with at times!! I do love Pinterest and Instagram too...but sometimes one has to just step away!! Have a fabulous weekend Ron! xo Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI clicked the button on youtube too, and now I don't know where the majority of my videos are. :-( My husband gets G+ notifications about my activity, and I'm stunned. What am I putting out there? How do I stop?
ReplyDeleteI have a google plus account. Do I ever look at it? NO! As I saw in comments below... you get pulled in to it for one reason or another... it is hard to figure out, it is very intrusive... I say don't BOTHER! Now... You aren't on facebook, are you? I would LOVE to see you on facebook!
ReplyDeleteHey there Katherine!
ReplyDelete.. you get pulled in to it for one reason or another... it is hard to figure out, it is very intrusive... I say don't BOTHER!"
OMG trust me, I'm not getting anymore involved with Google+ than I already have. In fact, I may attempt to delete the account sometime this weekend. And I think I may be able to do it because I noticed that my You Tube is NOT connected to it. So if I delete it, I don't think I'll lose anything. I HOPE!
"You aren't on facebook, are you? I would LOVE to see you on facebook!"
No, I'm not. I was, for about a year, but deleted it because I never used it at all. And I have to be honest, I'm not FB fan.
MUCH thanks for stopping by, girl! Have a faaaaaaaaaaabulou weekend!
X
Hello there Jean!
ReplyDelete"I clicked the button on youtube too, and now I don't know where the majority of my videos are."
OMG...you're kidding?!?! I haven't noticed that happening to my You Tube videos. I would FREAK!
"( My husband gets G+ notifications about my activity, and I'm stunned. What am I putting out there? How do I stop?"
See...that's what I mean...Google+ gets into everything and then SHARES it with other people.
HOW DO THEY DO THAT?!?!?!
Google+ is the DEVIL!!!!!! HA!
Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantabulous weekend!
X
Hello there Jeanne!
ReplyDelete"..I have no idea how my YouTube account got linked...probably the same way yours did...pressing a button ... then going CRAP!!!"
Yup...I did the same thing! And I don't know HOW I did that, but I did. I was so confused, that I think I just clicked on the wrong button.
" I am not a fan of Google+ but in today's world, and dealing with affiliate marketing...they WANT you to be involved in as many different social media channels that you can possibly be involved with!! It makes me crazy."
Yup...that's exactly it! And I bet they're selling all our information to these marketing companies too!
"I do love Pinterest and Instagram too..."
LOVE Pinterest! I don't have a cell phone so I can't do Instagram. But even still, I don't spend that much time on Pinterest. Maybe, once or twice a week.
Much thanks for stopping by, dear lady. And yes, it's good to step away from the Internet every once in a while. I will be doing that tomorrow. I'll be outside all day, walking around the city and taking pictures.
Have a super weekend!
X to you and the girlz!
And you KNOW how much we LOVE your spending time taking photos because we all get to enjoy your FABULOUS photography skills!! One of these days I must get to Philly...but for now...I can see it through your eyes!! Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteAw...thanks, Jeanne :)
ReplyDeleteI love taking pictures. And right now I'm really into my photography; learning, growing, and creating things with my photographs. FUN!
And yes, when you come to Philly, I'll take you on a GRAND tour!!!!
Have a great evening!
X
" No interest. I have several gmail accounts and want them completely separate. I wrote back, "But I don't WANT to consolidate my online presence!"
ReplyDeleteOMG...you sound just like me!! LIBRAS!!!
I have separate email accounts for a reason, so I want to keep it that way. And that's the thing about Google+ that both scares me and annoys me, they want to dictate what we do online.
Internet COMMUNISM - HA!
Much thanks for stopping by, girl! Hope you're having a FABU weekend!
X
Ron, I wanted to stop by again to see if Google abolished you from the Internet. But I can see you're still here. ROFL!
ReplyDeleteDid you try to delete your Google+ account? Were you successful?
Matt, you are too FUNNY! No, they didn't abolish me (so far) HA!
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I haven't tried to delete my account this weekend because I've been so busy editing photographs. I was up until 2 AM today! I suddenly got the creative urge yesterday, to get add more photo prints to my Zazzle Store. It's been so much fun, but A LOT of work.
Thanks for stopping back and checking up on me, buddy. Hope you're weekend is going well!
Looking forward to seeing the new photos in your store!
ReplyDeleteMost folks were thrilled when google maps happened--you could see your house,
ReplyDeleteyour garage--and whatever you hadn't killed off on the patio. Frankly, it
creeped me out. It's great for having a close up look at the places you didn't
get around to investigating at The Grand Canyon and Yosemite. And that's the
only thing I really use the 'satelite' view for. I'm probably a bit 'hyper
sensitive' to the privacy deal--and the wrong one to ask an opinion about when
it comes to google+ or FB or any of the other social medias out there.
I don't use them. I don't FB. I don't Tweet. I don't + my google.
*laughing*
I'm one who goes back it to redo my preferences/settings after doing a
cleanup of the laptop/desktop. Some of them return to 'default' when you do
that. What I'm interested in purchasing is NONE of my computer's business--or
Microsoft's or Googles or Amazon's. And I really don't care to be seeing
advertisements for cameras for a month of Sundays just cuz I was researching
prior to purchasing mine. And given mine's in the SHOP already--I REALLY don't
wanna see the advertisements, tyvm.
*sigh*
There's a whole lot going on in the world of technology--and it's GOOD
stuff. Unfortunately, some of that good stuff gets used as a means to an end
--and it's really (In my NOT so humble opinion) hurtful, invasive and
disrespectful.
(Oh, and WHERE that first attempt to post went off to, heaven only knows!) ;-)
I don't understand Google+. I have have an account but use it occasionally. I also find Google intrusive and overbearing. Just when I had my email inbox the way I liked it, they changed the entire format. We are all slaves to Google, the omnipotent Internet overlord.
ReplyDeleteHiya Mel!
ReplyDelete". It's great for having a close up look at the places you didn't get around to investigating at The Grand Canyon and Yosemite. And that's the only thing I really use the 'satelite' view for."
Exactly! I LOVE Google Maps (and any other map searches) for that reason, because you can do there and VISIT it without ever going there!
"I don't use them. I don't FB. I don't Tweet."
Me neither, Mel! I use any of those.
"What I'm interested in purchasing is NONE of my computer's business--or Microsoft's or Googles or Amazon's."
OMG...don't you just hate that? It amazes me how after Googling a product online, the next website I go to has the exactly THING I was Googling for in their advertisement! It's like Google is WATCHING everything you do!
"There's a whole lot going on in the world of technology--and it's GOOD stuff. Unfortunately, some of that good stuff gets used as a means to an end.."
I TOTALLY agree!
Much thanks for stopping by, dear lady! Hope you're having a maaaaaavelous weekend!

Hellooooooooo Lauren!
ReplyDelete"I don't understand Google+."
Me neither. I honestly don't understand it and how it all works. It's VERY confusing and WAY too hard to get the hang of.
"Just when I had my email inbox the way I liked it, they changed the entire format."
OMG...THANK YOU VERY MUCH and I AGREE! Google is forever changing stuff. And not only with their email format, but with everything else too. They're always changing something on Blogger. Always.
"We are all slaves to Google, the omnipotent Internet overlord."
Yup...sad, but so true!
Thanks so much for stopping by, Lauren. Always a delight to see your comments! Hope you're having a super weekend!

Okay as far as Google+ is concerned:
ReplyDeleteDo you use it?
I have an account, but I barely use it. I only post my new post blog links there, much like I use twitter. Aside from my blog, the two main social media sites I use are Facebook & Instagram.
Do you like it?
I don't use it enough, or understand enough of the features, to "like" it or "dislike' it.
And if you do use it and like it, what do you use it for and what are some of the benefits?
I have NO IDEA! lolz
Or...do you regret ever getting involved with it?
Not really. I mostly ignore the activity happening so it doesn't interfere with my life.
Meleah, thanks SO MUCH for sharing your feedback!
ReplyDeleteI knew you were on Facebook and Instagram and enjoyed them, so I always wondered if you had tried Google+ and whether you found it to be anything great. People seem to either REALLY like, not like, or like you...feel so-so about it.
To me, it just seems way too confusing and invasive. So, I think I'm gonna just let it be as is and not get anymore involved until I can find a way to delete it without deleting my other services associated with it.
Again, thanks for your feedback, girl!

You're welcome!

I will be adding a widget to this blog, which will highlight featured photos on my shop so that you can visit if you wish.
ReplyDeleteAt one point I decided to try Google+. Bad, bad, bad decision. I hated it. And the worse thing was trying to get rid of it was like trying to get out of jail after being wrongly convicted of a crime.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the way Google does things. They constantly try to get you to join that piece of shit application by any means possible.
Sorry I'm late commenting. Have been really busy the last few days.

Helloooooooo David!
ReplyDeleteNo worries, buddy. Please stop by whenever you have time. And I totally understand because this weekend I was very busy myself.
"At one point I decided to try Google+. Bad, bad, bad decision. I hated it. And the worse thing was trying to get rid of it was like trying to get out of jail after being wrongly convicted of a crime."
Yup, that seems to be the general consensus from the comments here about Google+.
"You are so right about the way Google does things. They constantly try to get you to join that piece of shit application by any means possible."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You are soooo right, man!
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you're weekend was awesome!

Jeezy Creezy...you ain't kidding. Google is trying to shore horn its way into our lives more and more each day. I have a Google+ account, but I'm not sure how I came about getting it. I use it to leave blog comments, but for nothing more. And, quite frankly, I'd like to drop the thing completely, but it makes things just too convenient when blogging. Argh! What to do? What to do....
ReplyDeleteHey there Herman!
ReplyDelete"Google is trying to shore horn its way into our lives more and more each day."
You got that right, man!
"I have a Google+ account, but I'm not sure how I came about getting it. I use it to leave blog comments, but for nothing more."
Yes, I've seen Google+ commenting on some blogs as well. They even suggested it for those of us who use Blogger as our platform, but I refuse to use it. I know of one other Blogger blogger who did try it, but it took them forever to get rid of it.
Much thanks for stopping by, buddy. Hope your weekend was awesome! Enjoy the Super Bowl tonight!
X to you, Karin, and Mr. Tyler!
i use google+ but sometimes i forget i have it. regardless, i think google or sites will find a way to track us.
ReplyDeletei'm careful about what i post and as long as i don't put anything out there that i wouldn't want anyone to know, track on google. my life is rather boring.
i don't like it or hate it, it's just there. if anything it's a cross post of what i have already posted somewhere else.
you are smart to limit yourself from a time perspective. these social sites take time to manage. i don't have the time i use now to do what i do socially so adding something else is really a waste of time. when i don't have time, i don't post and really don't care about maintaining it. probably there to show case my photography and maybe keep in touch with one friend.
Hey there Val!
ReplyDelete"i use google+ but sometimes i forget i have it. regardless, i think google or sites will find a way to track us."
I know, doesn't that amaze you? Google will always find ways to track us. It's like they're Big Brother.

Yes, I've noticed that on some Google+ pages, a cross post of what has already been posted on someone's blog.
"these social sites take time to manage."
Amen! I don't how some people do it!? I read one blog, where the author is on EVERY SINGLE social media there is - and she updates them daily.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your feedback, girl. Appreciate it! Have a grrrrreat Monday!

ReplyDeleteHey there Val! Sorry to hear that, girl. But that's strange. I wonder why it didn't work on that post, but did on this one? Ummmm.
ReplyDeleteYes, I LOVED the snow today! In fact, I was out in it this afternoon.
". i'm about to go to sleep with my man ben-gay."
Bwhahahahahaha! You crack me up!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by, girl.

Not sure, Ron. It was like that all morning and afternoon. Shrugs.

Thanks so much for letting me know...:)
ReplyDeleteg+ is proof that Google has decided go drop the pretense of acknowledging what the user wants and instead dictating to people how they will use the Google-controlled internet.
ReplyDeleteI was just about to share one of your Zazzle pictures on G+. I will share on Pinterest instead as I see that's a network you use. I'm okay with G+ but with all the stuff I'm doing with my business it's kind of hard to stop using these networks. I have to say I'm so over FB. I'm still on there for the business stuff, a little, and will check personal things here and there but it's become totally small business unfriendly. The reality is that all of these networks have the goods on us. If you've got a digital footprint at all you're kind of screwed. Hate to say it.
ReplyDeleteAw...thank you, Jen :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I just started with Pinterest about 3-4 months ago and I like it because I've discovered some really stuff there. As I shared, I don't use it to socialize much, but more so to research things I might be looking for and to promote some of my product review posts and photographs.
"The reality is that all of these networks have the goods on us. If you've got a digital footprint at all you're kind of screwed. Hate to say it."
You are sooooooooo right about that! Once you get online and begin using these networks, the goods are out there. But the thing that really bothers me about Google+ is that it's so aggressive and invasive.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing your knowledge on this post!

Hey there Dale!
ReplyDelete" I have a Google+ account which I use purely to promote Diary of an Internet Nobody and to follow other blogs. I'm not sure I get much traffic from it..."
Yes, that's another thing I've read online. People are not seeing any results from using.
"...but I do know I get a whole shitload of email notifications when anyone I follow posts anything. On average I get about 60 emails a day from Google+ alone."
HA! Me too, and I don't even USE it. I constantly get emails.
"Absolute ____ing pain in the arse."
Amen! And I will take your advice and not get anymore involved.
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your feedback, buddy. Appreciate it.
Have a super weekend!

I accidentally clicked on joining Google plus a couple of years ago and haven't touched it since. No interest. I have several gmail accounts and want them completely separate. The only social media accounts I have are facebook and blogger, and I keep those separate as well. Oh, and now and again I've done online dating sites, which I DEFINITELY want separate from the rest of my on-line life!!! A friend of mine suggested google plus as "a great way to consolidate your online presence." I wrote back, "But I don't WANT to consolidate my online presence!"
ReplyDeleteHey ho Robert!
ReplyDelete"I think they must have changed the interface 100 times in the past two years. Every time I use it something has either been added or subtracted."
HA! OMG...you are sooooooooo right about that! They are forever changing the interface and how you send an email! I remember when they changed it the last time and I couldn't find where the attachment icon was. I kept clicking on all the icons to find it. Also, the various text buttons were all different.
"No, I won't be joining Google+ because I really don't have a use for it. And after reading what you and others have said about it, it sounds like a nightmare."
It IS a nightmare!!!!!!! And if I can ever find a way to delete that service without deleting my other services, I will!
Yup...Google is taking over the Internet world!
Thanks for stopping by, bud. And have a most excellent weekend!
X
Ron, the only service I use from Google is their email, and even that I find frustrating. I think they must have changed the interface 100 times in the past two years. Every time I use it something has either been added or subtracted.
ReplyDeleteNo, I won't be joining Google+ because I really don't have a use for it. And after reading what you and others have said about it, it sounds like a nightmare.
Google seems to be taking over the Internet world!
