My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
I know that summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21st, however, in my own mind I believe it begins on June 1st. So for me, summer started a week ago.
I was a penguin in a past life.
Yet, since there is nothing I can really do about summer, outside of complaining about it, which I’ve decided not to do anymore because it only makes it worse, two years ago I changed my attitude and began embracing summer. And do you know what? I’ve really started to enjoy it! In fact, I actually began sitting outside in the sun back in May, just to get a bit of sun-kissed color and Vitamin D. And I must say that it really made me feel good, inside and out.
Yup, even though summer may not ever be one of my favorite seasons, I’m learning to see all the good things it offers.
So, to honor the start of summer, I took my camera outside yesterday, which was a stunningly gorgeous Sunday and snapped photographs of summertime in Philly.
Please enjoy...
Rooftop swimming pools on hotels and apartment buildings in the city, opened on Memorial Day. Don't you just want to dive in?
Now that the weather is warmer, all the outside cafes are filled to capacity with customers. Oh, and btw, right before I took this shot of the attractive couple you see in this photo, he gave her a kiss. Which is why he's smiling. Awwwww
Four young ladies having Sunday brunch at an outside cafe, not far from where I live. This photo reminds me of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte from the TV show, Sex and the City.
It was Gay Pride in Philadelphia this weekend, so these next two photographs are of street vendors selling their rainbow flag items. Notice his tulle rainbow tutu. I would have purchased one and twirled around the streets, but I only carry a debit card.
Don't you freakin' love those umbrella hats? Aren't they a HOOT?
Doesn't this cafe just glow with a summertime feel?
I love seeing all the people in the public parks, walking their dogs.
This little cutie was sitting next to me in the grass. I asked him to smile for the photo, but all he gave me was a distance stare.
I spotted this group of daddies in the park. And what was so beautiful about them was that they were so tentative, gentle, and loving with their children. It was so touching to watch them.
PRODUCE. One of my favorite things about summer. Yummy!
Happy pre-summer, y'all!
