My longtime blogging friend, Pearl at Everything and Nothing, does an amazing amount of traveling and delightfully documents it on her blog. And even though she is from the UK, Pearl has traveled to more states in America than I have ever been. In fact, if it weren't for her sharing about the many places she and her husband travel to, I would never know what these locations in the US even looked like. But she also travels to countries in Europe.

Pearl has such a passion for traveling; relishing in the history, sites, food, drink, and lifestyle of each place she visits. I've often suggested that she start a travel blog because her posts are so informative and enjoyable.

Traveling has always been something I would like to do more of because I adore visiting different places and seeing how other people live. I would love to take a year and do nothing but travel. And I'm one of those individuals who could travel alone because I'm not shy about meeting new people and striking up conversations. Nor, do I feel apprehensive about being in territories that are unknown to me. I find it exciting!

I've only been to a handful of states here in America, and two countries in Europe. I've also been to Japan. So I am by no means a worldly traveler.

Today I would like to share five places that I'd like to travel and visit. I have many more than five, but these would be on my first-priority list.

I composed these collages from photographs found online.

Italy - Oh dear god, what can I say? My fear is that I would get there and NEVER want to come home because I'd meet a brown-eyed, gay Italian man; eat pasta and cannolis all day; drink wine in Tuscany; ride a romantic gondola in Venice; and then get an apartment together along the Amalfi Coast overlooking the Mediterranean, while sipping Lemoncello and talking Italian. Oh hush y'all...a man can dream, can't he?

Alaska - Being a lover of cold, snow and ice, I have always wanted to visit Alaska. And I think if I were to go there, I would want to travel by cruise ship because they say it's the best way to enter Alaska. And I can only imagine how magnificent that view must be.

Vermont (in the Fall) - For being such a city boy, there is a part of me that feels extremely comfortable submerging myself in the great outdoors; taking hikes; hugging trees; building campfires; and just being within nature. Vermont in the Fall...oh yes! It's no wonder they refer to it as "God's Country."

Barcelona, Spain - I once knew a woman in Florida who was originally from Barcelona, Spain, and she was such an elegant, well-dressed and classy lady. Like Italy, there is something that draws me to Spain - the culture, the style, the art, and the Latin passion!

Vienna, Austria - Ever since seeing the movie, Amadeus, about composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, I have wanted to visit Austria; particularly Vienna. The exquisite architecture and the rich history of Austrian composers are what beckon me there. Whenever I see photographs of Vienna, I hear violins and cellos playing.

If any of you have been to these places and would like to share your experiences, I would love to hear your feedback. Also, please feel free to share places that you would like to visit. Thank you.

Happy Monday, peeps!
X

I was in Venice in October with my daughter - it really is a heavenly place! I love travelling - it broadens the mind and promotes tolerance.

  2. Italy, Venice, Vienna, Italy, Barcelona, Alaska, Italy, and others are MUST VISITS. It's a shame you don't want a chaperone 'cause I'd be willing to tag along in case you got lost haha. I think I've recorded every visit I've made to far off countries but I'd willingly revisit as a kind of refresher course. I hope you make it, Ron.

Love the pictures you chose for this subject. Sigh... they took me right back.

PS did you cotton on to my favourite?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Italy, France, and Greece would be my top picks. My parents have done two Alaskan cruises and they loved it! I've been to the majority of states, but not Vermont. You chose such stunning photos!

  4. Oh, Ron, being of Latin descent, I would LOVE to visit Spain! Back when I was in high school and took Spanish, they hosted a Senior year school trip to Spain but I couldn't go. I was so disappointed. Italy would be a place I'd like visit too. Lol! I laughed at your dream of visiting. I've been to Vermont and it's gorgeous. I always thought that being a flight attendant would be such a great job because of the all the FREE traveling.

You chose such beautiful photographs for these collages. Have a wonderful week, Ron

PS- I heard about all the snow you're getting there. Be safe and stay warm.

  5. Hello there Fiona!

You've been to Austria? OMG...how awesome!!! I know that you also do a good bit of traveling yourself. I loved your photographs of Italy!

" I love travelling - it broadens the mind and promotes tolerance."

Yup, I feel the exactly same way! Traveling is so educational.

Have a terrific week, my friend. And thank you for stopping by!

  6. Good morning Valerie!

" It's a shame you don't want a chaperone 'cause I'd be willing to tag along in case you got lost haha."

Oh, I would love that! And we could blog about it and get paid!

"Love the pictures you chose for this subject. Sigh... they took me right back."

It took me FOREVER to select these photographs because there were so many beautiful ones to choose from.

"PS did you cotton on to my favourite?"

Bwhahahhahaha! Yup, I certainly did! Italy, Italy, Italy! OMG...I truly fear going there and NEVER wanting to come home.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a stunning week!
    X to you and Joe

  7. Yes!!!!!! Greece is one my favorites as well! I sometimes think I have Greek blood in my veins because I LOVE Greek food! And it looks like such a gorgeous place!

" My parents have done two Alaskan cruises and they loved it!"

OMG...how faaaaabulous! Everyone I have ever spoken to that has visited Alaska says the same thing. You MUST travel there by cruise ship because the view is spectacular.

"I've been to the majority of states, but not Vermont."

I had a friend in Florida who owned two homes - one in Florida and one in Vermont. She spent have the year in each.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a super week!

  8. Hey, Ron! I've been to Vermont and Italy and did a brief stopover in Vienna. I'd love to return to all of those places and hit Barcelona as well! Alaska is on my list, but you know how much I hate cold weather!

You put together a great list and I think you should start seeing these places as soon as you can. But save Italy for last--then you can hunker down in a gondola with your brown-eyed gay Italian man and live happily ever after! Mama Mia!

    Have a great week, buddy!

  9. Hola Denise!

"Oh, Ron, being of Latin descent, I would LOVE to visit Spain!"

Yes, I had a feeling, being Spanish, you would also love to visit Spain! The woman I spoke about in this post was such a lovely lady. And I loved her
    Castilian accent.

" Lol! I laughed at your dream of visiting." Truly, I fear visiting there and never wanting to come home!

" I always thought that being a flight attendant would be such a great job because of the all the FREE traveling."

Meeeeee too! I know that they don't get paid a lot, but the perk of FREE traveling makes up for it

"PS- I heard about all the snow you're getting there. Be safe and stay warm." We are getting most of it later today and into tomorrow. It's snowing a bit right now.

Have a wonderful week, girl. And thanks so much for stopping by!

  10. Ron, two on your list are on my own - Italy and Spain. My husband is half Italian but seems to be ALL Italian because he can't enough of Italian food. He's a wonderful cook too! We've been to Vermont and it is "God's Country." We've been there in the fall and summer but fall is by far the best season to experience Vermont.

    Fun post!

Are you ready for this snow?

  11. You've managed to assemble five places I'd like to go but have never been. I feel like I've been lucky in terms of travel, but I'm definitely looking forward to doing some more.

  12. Hey there Rob!

"I've been to Vermont and Italy and did a brief stopover in Vienna. I'd love to return to all of those places and hit Barcelona as well!"

Wow...I didn't know you had traveled to those places, that's freaking AWESOME!! God, I bet Vienna was stunning!

"Alaska is on my list, but you know how much I hate cold weather!"

HA! I know. But oh, can you imagine the view sailing into Alaska? Spectacular!

And you're right, I do need to travel to these places as soon as I can. I'm thinking about changing careers and becoming an international flight attendant - HA!

" But save Italy for last--then you can hunker down in a gondola with your brown-eyed gay Italian man and live happily ever after! Mama Mia!"

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Okay, I will! And you can come to out wedding!!

It's so funny you said that because my step-mother was NOT Italian, but she ADORED Italian food. And OMG...she could cook Italian cuisine like nobody's business!

"We've been to Vermont and it is "God's Country." We've been there in the fall and summer but fall is by far the best season to experience Vermont."

Yup...definitely the FALL. I bet the color of the leaves is spectacular!

Yes, I'm ready for all the snow they say we're supposedly getting. I went grocery shopping after work yesterday and the store was bare. I got a banana and bag of lettuce - HA! I actually don't think we're going to get as much as they predicted.

  14. "I feel like I've been lucky in terms of travel, but I'm definitely looking forward to doing some more."

Me as well. I may change careers and become a flight attendant, just so I could travel for FREE - HA!

Italy would be my first stop.

Have a super week, my friend. And thanks for stopping by!

  15. Ron, out of all the places you listed, I've been to Vienna and loved it. I'm a big music lover and my tastes vary. People are surprised when they find out that I also appreciate classical music. I've seen the movie Amadeus and really enjoyed it.

Strangely enough, I would like to first visit more places in Europe than America. Although, Vermont calls to me as well.

    Cool post, dude!

  16. All great places to visit! Can I tag along?
By the way, I watched "Breakfast at Tiffanys" this weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hiya Matt!

You've been to Vienna?!?! That is so AWESOME! And me too, my taste in music varies and classical is a genre that I REALLY appreciate! When I was still acting, I did an opera (La Boheme) and it was then that I started to appreciate even opera.

"Strangely enough, I would like to first visit more places in Europe than America. "

No, that doesn't sound strange at all because I too would like to first visit more places in Europe than America. In many ways, I feel more European than American.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most excellent week!

Ron, you crack me up! I have to agree with you, Italy (and Italian men) hold such an attraction for me. I too would like to do a lot more traveling, especially abroad. I would also like to visit Peru. I have been to Vermont and it's so beautiful. Alaska I could skip because I don't do cold very well.

    Interesting post, Ron!

"I would also like to visit Peru."

Yes, yes, yes! You mentioned a place that I would like visit as well...PERU! My friend Diana (in Florida) went there about 4 years ago and LOVED it. She said that the energy there is very special and so are the people. She also loved the food.

One of these days I have GOT to get to Vermont. But in the Fall.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, buddy. Have a terrific week!

  21. Sadly at this point in my life I am only a traveler at heart. However, I do think Alaska will happen for us some day. Have you ever seen the discovery channel show about the men who live out in the wilderness of Alaska or the cops style Alaska show? The bf and I watch it all the time dreaming about the day we take a cruise there. I hate the cold but would love to see his face when we finally get there and I am dying to see the Northern Lights!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Aw how sweet of you Ron! You just reminded me I still haven't blogged about our trip to Venice etc last May and we're going to Tuscany this May. I really would like to visit Japan, maybe next year, this September we're going to China. Thanks for the shout out m'deario. Xx

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh and when are you coming to England? X

    ReplyDelete
  24. Funny, I would put 4 out of your 5 on MY list of places I want to travel to. We are so alike! The only one that wouldn't make my Top 5 would be Barcelona, though I'd still like to visit there someday - but I'd rather see Prague first.

  25. Hellooooo Shae!

"Have you ever seen the discovery channel show about the men who live out in the wilderness of Alaska or the cops style Alaska show? The bf and I watch it all the time dreaming about the day we take a cruise there."

No, I haven't, but since you mentioned it I will be sure to check it out because it sounds AWESOME! I remember way back in the late 60's and early 70's when they were offering jobs working on the Alaskan pipeline and were paying exceptionally well to get people to go there. Back then had I been an adult, I would have never gone because I didn't like the cold weather. However, now I'd jump at the chance!

"and I am dying to see the Northern Lights!"

Ooo....I can't wait to hear all about it! And you must share about Tuscany because that's one of the places in Italy I would love to go.

"I really would like to visit Japan, maybe next year, this September we're going to China."

" but I'd rather see Prague first."

Yes, Prague! And I bet the architecture there is stunning!

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have an awesome week!

P.S. And speaking of snow, we're supposed to be getting hit with a TON tonight. Can't wait!

  29. Ron, they changed the forecast until late tonight through tomorrow. They say it's going to be a heavy one.

  30. Yes, I read that online this afternoon. If it's really as heavy as they say, they may close the store I work. Yahooo! Another day off!!!

  31. What a fascinating list you've compiled, Ron! I've never been to any of those places, so I can't help you out with details, though.
Being part-Italian, I'd love to visit Italy. And I definitely want to go back to Ireland (only this time, I want to stay long enough to actually enjoy it!)
Here in the States, I'd rather visit Hawaii than Alaska. Something about being surrounded by all that water is compelling!
    Have a super week, dear!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I hope you're enjoying Juno...looks like it's delivering!! Take care....play safe in the snow....make a few snowangels for me!
In the mean time, I'll think warm thoughts. Yaknow, ironically as much as I love beaches, an Alaska cruise is on my agenda....MY agenda, mind you. Himself wants to throw up just thinking about being on the open sea....stuck with hundreds of people far far away from land...with no ability to swim if things go upside down (no pun intended). Another trip to Ireland would make my list, and another to England's coastal towns. I might want to visit the coast of British Columbia.....and oddly enough Washington State.

The photo collages were beatiful, btw.

    ReplyDelete
  33. SO SO SO jealous you have been to Japan! I would love to hear the stories! When my parents were newly married the wives traveled to a few places the ships were. My mom has CRAZY stories of the Philippines... like a man even crawled in to the window over the door where Mom and another wife were staying.. and the friend chased him out with a broom! And Japan... so many amazing places!

  34. Hello there Debbie!

"And I definitely want to go back to Ireland." Yes, Ireland is on my list as well. I love that it's surrounded by water. And it looks so lush and green!

"I'd rather visit Hawaii than Alaska. Something about being surrounded by all that water is compelling!"

I've written several posts about my 2 1/2 month stay in Japan on my blog. But I think it was before you and I met through blogging. I LOVED Japan! It is such an amazing country, with some of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met. It's very progressive yet at the same time, very old-world consciousness.

"... like a man even crawled in to the window over the door where Mom and another wife were staying.. and the friend chased him out with a broom!"

  38. These are all places I'd love to see too Ron.

I haven't been to Alaska but I did live in the Yukon territory for about 7 months, a few winters ago and I just loved it. Alaska is just about a neighbor up there! Hopefully will be moving back up there soon, how I miss the North, the quiet, the beauty, the snow!!! LOTS of snow. It's an amazing place. One of local "jokes" in Whitehorse was, when you'd ask someone how long they had been there, the two most common answers were:

"oh, I just got here" OR "I've been here for 30 years"

    What does that say??? ;-)

These photos are all so gorgeous and the one you took from the plane is very good too. So clear and blue.

I hope you get to visit all of these places and soon. Vermont should definitely be doable!!! How gorgeous it must be in the fall.

How is the weather where you are? Has the storm hit PA in a big way, or more in NY state? Take care and stay warm, G

"I did live in the Yukon territory for about 7 months, a few winters ago and I just loved it. Alaska is just about a neighbor up there!"

Wow...that is close to Alaska! And I bet it's stunning! Canada is another place on my list of visits; particularly Quebec.

"oh, I just got here" OR "I've been here for 30 years"

    What does that say??? ;-)"

HA! That does say a lot!

Thank you. I took that photograph about two years ago when I visited my family in Florida one summer.

Yes, Vermont is very doable, you're right.

The storm didn't hit PA as hard as NY. We got some snow and it's very cold and windy. It's still snowing, but lightly. They way they talked, I thought we were going to get much more.

  41. I've never been to any of these, but Italy would be my hands-down favorite choice! Alaska? Maybe in the summer....2 weeks out of July? Germany might be on the list since I have ancestral ties to that country. I love the photo collages your created. Absolutely lovely.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Are you out skiing in snow heaven, Ron?! ;)) I'll be escaping (yes, I feel so cooped up) for a few to get outside in the fresh snow myself, which brings me back to your beautiful post.
Smiled at your Italian daydream. Wholeheartedly agree, Ron, it would be a dream come true. As with the rest of your destinations.
And doesn't it seem to be that way? That more outside the United States have seemed to have seen more of the United States than the natives? Would so love to visit more. Vermont is beautiful, all seasons. Would love to visit the vineyards in California. And definitely, Alaska, the last frontier.
I'm with you, that as much as I love ancient history and culture, I love nature. I think the ratio is 50:50 here. Now off into the snow for a few. I'm feeling cabin fever and it's only been a day!
Hope you're enjoying yourself, Ron! :))

Yes, Germany is on my list as well. I would love to visit Berlin, but also the German countryside, such as, Heidelberg. It looks like such a gorgeous place.

  44. Hellooooooo Petra!

"Are you out skiing in snow heaven, Ron?! ;))"

HA! No, because we didn't get much snow at all here in PA. New York and Boston seemed to get most of it. However, it is freezing and very windy.

    "Smiled at your Italian daydream."

    OMG...can you imagine?

"And doesn't it seem to be that way? That more outside the United States have seemed to have seen more of the United States than the natives?"

Yes, it does. I think on the whole, Europeans are a bit more adventurous than Americans as far as stepping outside their comfort zone. Europeans seem to be open to traveling.

"I'm with you, that as much as I love ancient history and culture, I love nature. I think the ratio is 50:50 here."

I think it may be that way with me as well. I love both urban and country life half and half. More of a balance.

  47. Ron,what wonderful shots and places to post about. I am not a well seasoned traveler. The closet thing to Italy I have been was to Vito's Pizzeria. Plenty of sauce and cheese on my pie.

I have been to Vermont again a place with cheese. Also have been to the Cheesecake Factory and oh yes, Chuckie Cheese.

You guessed it all my ventures out had something to do with cheese. Just last night I cut the cheese. Now that was a trip!

  51. The only place we are on the same page is Alaska by cruise ship! I did a Caribbean cruise a few years ago & loved it, so I would love to see Alaska too! Unfortunately with my balance & walking problems, it will probably never happen for me, but I can dream. Just don't plan on spending a lot of time in Alaska - black flies are the worst! If you want snow & cold, you could come to Edmonton! We are far enough south to escape black flies but still get the ice & snow.

I have GOT to get to Canada one of these days because it's on my list as well. Anyone I have ever talked to that has visited Canada says the same thing...it's so beautiful! My wish is to see Quebec first.

  53. I've always been more attracted to Asia than Europe. As a result, I've never been there. When I go places, I want to spend enough time there, to see not only the obligatory tourist attractions, but also the places and things that usually, only the locals know about. Just image how much time you could spend in any one of those European cities! Geez, I've been working at seeing all of my own state (California) for years.

Having said all that, I totally agree with your choices. I would love to see them in person.

I am the same way, Pat! When I travel, I'm not into taking guided tours. I would rather snoop around on my own, and like you said, places that only the locals know about.

It's odd because I feel more drawn to see more Europe than America. I've been to California and Nevada and loved them.

    Have a super weekend!

  55. Pearl certainly has been on some wonderful trips!
Italy is at the top of my list too, absolutely!!!
Switzerland and Germany I'd love to visit.
Oh... so many amazing places in this world. I just need more money and good medicine. haha
You know what a torture travel is for me. I am at least hoping to someday get over the big pond to see a bit of Europe.
Of more local interest would be a trip to New England in the Fall to see the leaves change. That would be a glorious trip... and one we could do on our own and I could do most of the driving to help the motion issue.

Yes, she certainly has! And I live vicariously through her travels!

I actually have a desire to visit more of Europe than I do the US. I feel very connected to Europe. Past lives, perhaps? HA!

Yes...New England for me too! Anytime I see photographs, I get all, "Wow...I need to go there!"
