I don't know how it is where you live, but so far here, spring has been somewhat bipolar and schizophrenic.

For a few days it feels like spring has sprung and is in full swing, but then it turns around and surprises us with weather that seems as though we're shifting back to autumn. Some days I'm wearing a turtleneck and a light jacket, other days I'm so warm that I want to walk around in a tank top and a g-string.

And the poor little flowers don't know what to do either. Should they come out and fully blossom? Or should they wait a few weeks until they're guaranteed that spring is finally here?

I know that "technically" it's spring, however it doesn't seem too sure of itself.

On my two days off last week, I finally got outside and used my new camera because I've been itching to play around with it. I mean, there are only so many pictures you can take indoors before you start getting creatively bored. I'd much rather be outdoors taking photographs because there is always something interesting to point your camera at and shoot.

Today I would like to share several photographs of colorful flowers. Because really, isn't that what spring is all about, COLOR? Most of these are wild flowers that I spotted in various parks. And trust me, it was challenging to find these flowers because there are not many blossoming yet. However, some of them I cheated and found from flower vendors on the street.

So please enjoy a bit of spring that has sprung; bubbling forth...

A water fountain pool at Philadelphia's City Hall

Red tulips

As most of you already know, I SUCK at knowing the names of flowers. So I have no idea what this one is called. I just thought it was pretty.

Nor do I know what this one is called. I decided to name it the "Tinkerbell Flower" because it reminds me of Tinkerbell from Peter Pan - HA!

A floral bouquet

Yellow pansy

Another floral bouquet

Red roses

Yellow daffodils

Fuchsia carnations
Oddly enough, carnations are one of my favorite flower because not only do I love their clean and fresh aroma and aesthetic beauty, but I also admire how hearty they are. Carnations seem to last FOREVER.

Yes...spring is here!

Have a beautiful spring Monday, y'all!

  1. Ha - are you sure you don't live just around the corner from me? If so, why the heck don't you drop in and say hi?

Our weather has been schizophrenic too (I love that description!), one day warm, warm sunshine and blue sky and gentle spring breezes, the next? Well, I wrote about it yesterday and I am SO annoyed. Not sure if I'm more annoyed with myself or with the weather fairy.

The first flower whose name you don't know is a crocus, the second, I think is a scilla, though there are several spring bulbs which look similar!

  2. I absolutely LOVE your photos Ron!! This new camera is FABULOUS!! I don't think I'd ever be able to figure out all of the buttons and settings so I just use an app on my iphone....since I always have that with me anyway. I, too, SUCK at flower names and always have to ask what the name of the flower is! Awesome movie about SPRING!! I sure am glad I am experiencing it here in Florida...last I heard it was 40 at home...and raining! Cheers!! xo

  3. Ooooh I loved that little film, even if it DID have a pesky squirrel in it.... smiles. We too have an upside-down weather pattern, I woke this morning to see a white lawn. At first I thought it was snow but it was just a heavy frost.... very heavy. And it's perishing cold too, and me with jumpers put away, replaced by lightweight blouses. We can't win with this topsy-turvy climate.

Your photographs are cheery and what a great idea to get them from a flower-seller's display. Duh... why can't I think of things like that?

Monday again.... have a good one, my friend x

  4. Cute video, Ron! I love seeing newborn fawns here, but sadly, they grow up to eat all our flowers. Very pretty photos and I've always loved carnations, too. I believe the purple flower is a crocus, but I've don't see the 'Tinkerbells' around here, so no clue.

I hope you have a seasonably good week!

  5. Beautiful photos, Ron! They really put me in the mood for Spring. You're so right about this strange season--bipolar and schizophrenic is the perfect description for what's been going on.

We had beautiful weather all day in New York on Sunday, but as soon as the sun started going down, the winds kicked up and it got very cold. What the hell?!?

But we all know it's going to get warmer and that means you'll be posting that photo of yourself in a tank top and a g-string! Woo-hoo!

Have a very revealing week, buddy!

  6. "Ha - are you sure you don't live just around the corner from me? If so, why the heck don't you drop in and say hi?"

HA! Jay, apparently from what others have shared, the weather has been the same all over the globe. We don't seem to have a definite spring or autumn any longer. There seems to be two seasons - winter and summer. I have a feeling that in a couple of weeks it's going to get so hot and humid and head right into summer.

"The first flower whose name you don't know is a crocus, the second, I think is a scilla, though there are several spring bulbs which look similar!"

Thanks so much for letting me the names. OMG...I am the worst at knowing the names of flower, plants or trees!

Have a fabulous week, my friend, and thanks for stopping by!

  7. Thank you, Jeanne :) I am so loving this new camera!

"I don't think I'd ever be able to figure out all of the buttons and settings so I just use an app on my iphone....since I always have that with me anyway."

Most of these photos were taken in auto mode because this camera is so brilliant intuitive in knowing exactly what to do. I did, however, use the MACRO setting on a few of these.

    "Awesome movie about SPRING!! I"

Isn't it cute? I found it on You Tube!

" I sure am glad I am experiencing it here in Florida...last I heard it was 40 at home...and raining!"

Yes, I spoke to my brother a few days ago and he said that the weather was GORGEOUS!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great time in Florida and enjoy that weather!

  8. Good morning Valerie!

"Ooooh I loved that little film, even if it DID have a pesky squirrel in it.... smiles. "

HA! Yes, I thought of YOU when I saw the squirrels in that video!

I hesitate to put my warmer clothes away in fear that the weather will turn back into autumn or winter! Last week I actually had to wear my down coat because it was THAT cold.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Happy Monday! And yes, can you believe it's the start of another week!?!

    X to you and Joe

  9. Hey there Bijoux!

Isn't the video CUTE? I found it last night on You Tube.

" I love seeing newborn fawns here, but sadly, they grow up to eat all our flowers."

I know. And it's the same with squirrels. However, I love them both.

"I believe the purple flower is a crocus, but I've don't see the 'Tinkerbells' around here, so no clue."

Thank you for letting know the name. One of my other readers (Jay) said that the Tinkerbells are called scilla.

Have a super week, my friend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Yup, it was the same here in Philly on Sunday. Yet, today, it's sunny and warm.

"But we all know it's going to get warmer and that means you'll be posting that photo of yourself in a tank top and a g-string! Woo-hoo!"

HA! Yeah, I've got my G-STRING all ready!

  11. Beautiful photographs, Ron! I can tell you're enjoying this new camera of yours. What a cute video. Love the frog!

Hasn't the weather been strange? I never know what to wear because the mornings can be cool, but then by noon it starts getting warmer. Then when the sun goes down, it's cool again. I find myself underdressing, taking clothes off and putting them back on.

Carnations are a flower favorite of mine too. You're right, they last forever. I've had carnations that lasted for a month!

  12. "other days I'm so warm that I want to walk around in a tank top and a g-string." LOL. Ron, you're too funny!

The weather here has been the same, up and down. We've also been getting a lot of rain and wind.

Beautiful photos, dude. This new camera of yours rocks!

  15. Spring has been a bit bipolar here as well. But I refuse to turn the heat back on! Love, love, love your first shot....hey, I think all the photos are fabulous! Fantastic color! I like carnations because they last for.e.ver. when cut. Glad you're having fun with that new extension of your arm! :-)

  16. Spring is somewhat bipolar and schizophrenic here as well. I am loving her up days though! Spent a gorgeous weekend in the mountains, was nicer there than here at the beach! Love your photos!

Wow - so many gorgeous flowers out already!

  19. Ron, your flowers are GORGEOUS, and I love that water pool. Bet that sees a lot of visitors on hot, summer days!

I'm soo with you on this -- I LOVE carnations. Besides their aroma and their longevity, they can be dyed nearly any color, making them perfect for every decor!

Spring is bipolar here, too. One day, it's hot and sunny; the next, it's gray and rainy and coolish. I'm sure it will settle down some time, but it's a roller coaster right now (and no wonder everybody is complaining of wicked allergy symptoms!!)

You did good, my friend, on your camera -- and its maiden voyage to capture the great outdoors is a huge hit!!

    Happy week ahead!

  20. Hola Denise!

Thanks :) Isn't the video adorable?

I took the shots of the daffodils on the same day, but in different locations. The ones with the water drops is not caused by rain or dew. They had just watered the garden, thus the flowers were all wet!

"But here in Florida we've already had some very warm days, which is typical for this time of the year. And soon we'll move into the heat and humidity of summer."

Yes, I spoke to my brother last week and he said the same thing. He mentioned that they've had some REALLY hot days already. That's one thing I do not miss about living in Florida, the summer heat and humidity. However, it's gets pretty bad here during the summer as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a fantastic week!

" I find myself underdressing, taking clothes off and putting them back on."

Yes, I've been doing the same thing! This morning I wore a light jacket to work, but on the way home I didn't even put it one because it was quite warm today!

" I've had carnations that lasted for a month!"

Me too! I think I've even had carnations that lasted more than month. Such a hearty flower!

Yes, same here. In fact, I heard that tomorrow's forecast calls for rain. But honestly, rain doesn't bother me. I used to live in Florida where it rains practically every single day.

Thank you :) OMG...I am so loving this new camera. I can't wait to take more pictures tomorrow on my day off!

Have a most excellent week, buddy. And thanks so much for stopping by!

"and I love that water pool. Bet that sees a lot of visitors on hot, summer days!"

The city just built that last year (around the beginning of autumn) and they used it for an ice skating rink during the winter. But I had no idea it was also a water fountain pool!?!

Aren't carnations faaaaaabulous? I know they're quite simple, but I think that's why I love them because there is such beauty in their simplicity.

" One day, it's hot and sunny; the next, it's gray and rainy and coolish. I'm sure it will settle down some time, but it's a roller coaster right now (and no wonder everybody is complaining of wicked allergy symptoms!!)"

Yes, allergy season here is as its peak - lots of sneezing and runny eyes. But you're right, it will settle down soon.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Happy week!

It's been bipolar here too. And I can't wait for spring to stabilize and move into summer. I love summer!

What a great video clip! I watched it two times.

  28. Ron, I dread the summers here in Florida. But I do remember the summers in New York being bad too. The only thing that's different in the northeast, though, is that the summer only lasts a few months and then it's over. Here, it can go on through September!

  29. "The only thing that's different in the northeast, though, is that the summer only lasts a few months and then it's over. Here, it can go on through September!"

  30. Well, if Spring is stubbornly taking its time at being Spring, Ron, in your world, it's in full bloom! Absolutely lovely! Thank you for sharing your eye for beauty! Were you feeling euphoric? When I visit a garden, the oxygen level literally is higher, thus the feeling of giddiness and pleasure.
And it's so obvious how much you're enjoying your new camera, Ron. Cannot wait to see Philly's architecture through your new lens! :))

Thank you so much for your sweet words. I'm having so much fun playing with my new camera. In fact, I took a trip outside the city this week and will be posting more photos tomorrow.
