Before sharing this post, I would like to address a question that has come up in some of the comments on previous posts and emails from readers asking if I'm currently getting ready to move to New York. As a reminder from a post I shared back in August, my move to New York won't be until next year (at the end of August when my apartment lease is up), so I'll be here in Philly slowly preparing for that move until then. Thanks so much for asking and for your concern.

---------------------------------------------

Last Wednesday, I had SO MUCH FUN visiting New York City with several of my girl friends, when back in August, we all decided to take a day-trip to Manhattan in the Fall.

Some of them had not been to New York in many, many years, so they were eagerly anticipating our Manhattan rendezvous. They also knew of my decision to move back to New York next year, so they wanted to experience the city with me, knowing how much I love it.

Needless to say, we had a marvelous time. I got so much joy in sharing my favorite city with them because it was like seeing New York through the eyes of fresh wonderment and awe!

Here are some photographs from our 9-hour day...

The girls standing in front of the Plaza. Aren't they such beautiful ladies?

Couldn't resist sharing this picture.

Here we are having lunch at my favorite foodie spot, Schnippers, on 8th Avenue and 40th Street.

After lunch, we headed uptown to Sephora on 5th Avenue...

Inside a recently opened Sephora, checking out the newest beauty products.

This particular Sephora has the COOLEST computer tool called, Virtual Artist, that enables you to try on eye makeup, false eyelashes and lipstick, before you purchase them. For instance, you simply stand in front of the computer screen, select the shade of lipstick you want, and viola...you instantly see what it looks like. And it's mind-blowing because it actually looks like you're wearing it...

Of course, I was DYING to see what I looked like in red lipstick as well.
Here, take a  look...

Don't I look purrrrty?
*and no...that's not a spear through my nose, it's a reflection off the glass screen.

Oh...and here I am trying on a pair of virtual Velour false eyelashes...

Could you just DIE??

After our trip to Sephora, we decided to head over to Rockefeller Center...

Rockefeller Tower

To our delight, the Rockefeller plaza was dressed in its colorful Fall decor.

While there, we decided to check out NBC Studios, which is inside Rockefeller Center.

Here we are as co-anchors on the NBC Today Show. What a hoot!

Now if you know me well, you know how much I ADORE the show Will and Grace and have anxiously awaited its "comeback" which was on September 28th.

Therefore, you can imagine how excited I was to walk into the Shop at NBC Studios and spot the Will and Grace promotional display, in which you were able to take pictures with the phenomenal cast. Well...not the actual cast, but cardboard cutouts of the cast...

How faaaaaaaabulous is this????

Me, sipping a martini in a bubble bath next to Jack.

I leave you with a short promo clip of the recent return of Will and Grace...

Have a fabulous rest of your week, y'all!
X

P.S. I will be sharing Part 2 of our day in New York in my next post.

  1. And a wonderful time was had by all... so obvious by the happy expressions. I often wonder what I would look like with false eyelashes. Did they feel strange?
Thank you so much for sharing your pictures and for reminding me that New York is the place to be. Wish I could go back there!

  2. Whoa, Ron! Way to take Manhattan with some gorgeous women!!!! It looks like all of you had a blast together! And isn't that NBC Store fun?? I love Will and Grace (though it's really Karen at I adore!) Honestly, that character is such a HOOT! I was dying when she was talking about her 'safe word' in that recent episode. OMG....they have the best writers!

Thanks for the fun post, Ron!

  3. Looks like you had a lovely day with some very lovely ladies. The shot of the Rockefeller plaza decked out in its seasonal splendor is gorgeous! I'm sure it gave you a little foretaste of your life to come next year. And....happy that wasn't a spear through your nose! Not sure that type of piercing would be a good look for you! :-) Thanks for sharing your fun day with us.

  4. Oh my god Ron, what a great post! I can tell from the expression on your faces that you had the best time in NY! Gorgeous women! Your photographs are always so good. You're a natural for capturing city living.

LOVE Will and Grace too!!!! I'm so glad it make a return because when it went off the air I was so sad. Don't you adore Karen and Jack?

  5. Yes, aren't they gorgeous? I was so proud to walk through the city with them because men were staring at us, thinking..."Who the hell is that guy surrounding by those beautiful women?!?!" HA!

Love the NBC Store! They have a lot of new stuff too.

" I love Will and Grace (though it's really Karen at I adore!) Honestly, that character is such a HOOT!"

I TOTALLY agree! Karen is MY favorite character as well. Freakin' LOVE her! OMG...the stuff that comes out of her mouth makes me HOWL with laughter! Yes....they have the BEST writers on TV.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a super week!

  6. Hello there Valerie!

OMG...we had SUCH a great time! The girls all had different things they wanted to see while in New York, so we did A LOT of walking, but we ended up seeing everything in 9 hours. We're already planning our next trip before the holidays.

"I often wonder what I would look like with false eyelashes. Did they feel strange?"

No because I didn't actually have them on, the Virtual Artist computer "virtually" puts them on you so that you can see what they look like before you buy them. But what's unbelievable is how REAL they look.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear friend. Hope you're feeling better.

  7. Ron, both my girlfriend and I are big fans of Will & Grace. We even have the first eight seasons on DVD. We were so damn happy to read over the summer that it would be returning in Sept. Great cast of characters but our favorites are Jack and Karen. Love the photos of you with the cast at NBC! Damn, wish I could have been there with you and your friends. I know I keep saying this but one day we would love to meet up with you in NY for a visit. Hopefully next year when you move there, we'll make it happen.

I need to share this post with my GF because she's addicted to Sephora. Our bathroom looks like a beauty counter LOL!

Great post, dude! As always, fantastic pics!

  8. Ron...this post is fabulous! Oh my god, the pictures of you with lipstick and eyelashes are priceless. You are so HILARIOUS! And I am so jealous that you were in NYC and got to go to Sephora because the New York stores get all the best things. As you know, I'm a cosmetic freak. I even have a card at Sephora here in Florida. We don't have one of those virtual artist in any of the Sephora's I frequent. Is that something new? That is genus!

The photographs of Will and Grace are fantastic. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of the show and couldn't wait for it to make a comeback last month. I hear it's scheduled for at least TWO seasons but I hope it goes longer. Don't you love Karen?

You friends are so beautiful. They look like models! I bet you had such a great time showing them around the city. I can't wait to see part 2.

    Great post, Ron X

  9. Hello there Lisa!

Yes...the lovely ladies and I had such a FANTABULOUS day! And it's funny because the 9 hours we spent there FLEW by so fast. We are already planning a return trip before Christmas so we can see all the holiday decorations. New York is incredible during Christmas.

Rockefeller plaza is one of those places that changes it's decor with each season and holiday, It's magical!

"I'm sure it gave you a little foretaste of your life to come next year. "

Yup...it sure did. It got me all excited about the move next year.

    *doing the happy dance*

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Hope you're enjoying Autumn. I bet the changing of the leaves are beautiful where you are!

Have a great rest of your week!

  10. Hey there Candice!

Yes...we all had such a FABULOUS time! We are planning a return trip before Christmas to see all the decorations. Christmas in NYC is AMAZING!

All summer I was counting down the weeks until Sept 28th for the return of Will and Grace. Without a doubt, Karen and Jack are my FAVES! I always thought that they should have a show all their own!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a super rest of your week!

  11. Awesome post and tremendous photos, Ron! You lucky dog, you got to spend a day in New York with those lovely ladies! If I had known I might have called in sick and met up with y'all.

I can't wait for you to move back to the Big Apple--hell, maybe you'll get a job on the Today Show! You look awfully comfortable behind that desk!

    Take care, buddy!

  12. Hey there Matt!

Me too, I was so damn happy when I started hearing during the summer that Will and Grace would be returning. And LUCKY you to have the previous 8 seasons on DVD! When F.Y.I when out of business last year here in Philly, I should have thought to purchase the seasons because everything in the store was reduced to 40% off. Dang!

My faves are Karen and Jack as well. I think the whole cast is brilliant but those two characters make me laugh the most' especially Karen!!!

"Hopefully next year when you move there, we'll make it happen."

Absolutely! Even before I move there if you ever make plans to visit NY, let me know because I would love to met you there.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most awesome rest of your week!

  13. Hola Denise!

HA! I couldn't resist taking those pictures with the lipstick and lashes on. That Virtual Artist tool is sooooooooooooo cool! And it's so impressive because as I said, it actually looks like your wearing the product on your face. I don't know how the hell they do that?!

"We don't have one of those virtual artist things in any of the Sephora's I frequent. Is that something new? It's genus!"

Yes, it is new because the Sephora here in Philly doesn't have that either. Like you said, the stores in NY seem to get all the best things, and FIRST.

"I hear it's scheduled for at least TWO seasons but I hope it goes longer. Don't you love Karen?"

Yes, I heard the same thing. But I have a feeling that the show will go longer than 2 seasons because even the first three shows of the new season are FABULOUS! Karen is my absolute favorite character; Jack being my second favorite. Yet, they each need one another to play off each other. They are such a great comedy couple!

Are the ladies stunning? Yes, they do look like models!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a fantastic rest of your week!

  14. Helloooooooooooo there Rob!

"If I had known I might have called in sick and met up with y'all."

Sorry about that, buddy. We are planning another trip into the city before Christmas so that we can see all the lights and decorations. We also want to take the subway over to Brooklyn (visit DUMBO) and then walk back over the bridge to Manhattan. So perhaps we can meet up in Brooklyn on that trip. We may even make it a weekend day next time so that will be easier for you having off on weekends.

"I can't wait for you to move back to the Big Apple--hell, maybe you'll get a job on the Today Show! You look awfully comfortable behind that desk!"

HA! OMG...I can't wait to move back to the Big Apple. I can't wait until next August!! I'm starting to investigate areas, apartments, and rent prices online just to see where I might live. I'm looking at Washington Heights, Brooklyn and Queens.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a fantabulous rest of your week!

  15. Looks like you and those lovely ladies had a GREAT time, Ron! Love the photo of you with the martini and wearing false eyelashes. I've never tried them.

Thanks for your info about your upcoming move. Leases are tricky things, and no way do you want to pay the penalty of breaking one too early. Look on the bright side, my friend -- by next fall, you'll be celebrating all the year-end holidays in your favorite place!!

By the way, if y'all were eating lunch, how come you're the only one with FOOD?!?! xx

  16. Before I started reading, I assumed all the young ladies were models. They are all very beautiful. It looks like you all enjoyed your nine hours. If I ever get there, I'm looking you up for a tour. I'm not really one for crowds, but I'm really starting to think that it would be worth it. Great post and really nice photos Ron!

  17. Hey there Debbie!

We had an AWESOME time! In fact, we're still talking about it and planning our next trip before Christmas to experience New York City during the holidays!

"Look on the bright side, my friend -- by next fall, you'll be celebrating all the year-end holidays in your favorite place!!"

Absolutely! I'm actually looking forward to slowly getting everything ready before I move. In fact, that's why I decide to wait until the end of my lease so that I don't have to rush and get stressed out about finding a new apartment and moving my things there. And before I know it....August will be here!

"Look on the bright side, my friend -- by next fall, you'll be celebrating all the year-end holidays in your favorite place!!"

HA! I ordered my food first, so when we took that photograph, it was before everyone else's food had arrived.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great rest of your week!

  18. Hey there Pat!

Aren't they all so beautiful? I was very proud to walk down the streets of New York surrounded by those four lovely ladies! And not only are they beautiful, but also smart and very funny!

"If I ever get there, I'm looking you up for a tour. I'm not really one for crowds, but I'm really starting to think that it would be worth it."

That would awesome! I would love to take you and your wife for a tour of the city. New York City is not a place that all people feel the desire to live because it's A LOT of everything. However, it "is" a place that I think everyone should at least visit once, just to experience it. And it's funny because for as BIG and CROWDED and INSANE as it is, it's also a very warm and loving city. Some of the most genuinely kind people I've ever met are New Yorker's.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend!

  19. Ron, just from the looks on all your faces I can tell you had such great time in your favorite and soon-to-be city! Your blog posts about my native city make me homesick. I'm sure you agree that there is something special about the energy of New York, isn't there? Makes you feel alive!

The pictures of you and the ladies in sephora are sensational. You look gorgeous in red lipstick and lashes LOL! What a great virtual computer tool. As others have shared in their comments, your friends are beautiful! They all have such incredible hair. And you look quite handsome yourself! How do you keep your beard so groomed? I don't normally like facial hair on me, but your beard is so sharp and stylish!

Oh my god, I love Will and Grace too! Jack and Karen are my favorites. I like Will and Grace as well, but it's Jack and Karen that make me laugh the most. I'm so glad that the show made a return in September.

Thank you for sharing your time in the city with your friends. I'm really looking forward to your next post! Have a great week, Ron X

Are you enjoying the nice cool fall weather? I am.

  20. Hello there Elaine!

"I'm sure you agree that there is something special about the energy of New York, isn't there? Makes you feel alive!"

Yes...yes...yes! And that's one of the many reasons I love that city - the ENERGY. It's a place like no other city I've been to or lived. It's a city whose energy inspires you to grow, expand, and believe that anything is possible.

Thank you :) Pretty much my adult life I've had facial hair of some kind - a moustache, goatee or full beard. However, I'm very picky about keeping my facial hair meticulously groomed because I don't like bushy, unkept-looking facial hair.

" Jack and Karen are my favorites. I like Will and Grace as well, but it's Jack and Karen that make me laugh the most."

Same here! Karen and Jack are my all-time FAVES! I think Will and Grace bring a great balance to the show though. It's such an ensemble show that works well with each other.

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor!

  21. What a fun looking (and let's face it, sexy-looking group you made! I can just imagine the shenanigans and laughter you all got up to while visiting your favorite city. And I bet now that you've made the decision to move, you will look at the city in an entirely different way from now until you get there.

Have a great weekend, Ron. Stay cool!

  22. Hold on!!!! Hey?! Wait a minute!!!! You're moving to NYC next year???? Wow, Ron, that is big news.. I'm coming to visit :-)
I'm a massive fan of Will&Grace... love them all, but Jack and Karen are the absolute best in my books!
What a fabulous time you had... a taste of things to come when you're living there!

  23. Hey there Mark!

HA! Yes, we did partake in some shenanigans and LOTS of laughter. The ladies had several sights they wanted to visit that day and I was so happy that we were able to see every single one of them. We walked are feet off, but oh...we have sooooooo much fun!

" And I bet now that you've made the decision to move, you will look at the city in an entirely different way from now until you get there."

You said it. I already see and feel it as my "home." Can't wait until next August! And I know you can understand that because of your eagerly anticipated move as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a grrrrrrrrreat weekend!

  24. Helloooooooo there Nat!

Yup...I'm moving (back) to NYC next year. I shared a post back in August about my decision to do so because I am SO OVER living in Philadelphia. This is a city that even though I was born here, I have never felt as if I belong here. I've been wanting to move to NYC for the past 4 years, so it's time.

And yes!!!!!!! PLEASE come and visit, I would LOVE to meet you in person and tour the city with you. That would be so much fun!

"I'm a massive fan of Will&Grace... love them all, but Jack and Karen are the absolute best in my books!"

Ditto! I feel the same about Jack and Karen....the absolute BEST. They both CRACK ME UP!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaaaabulous weekend!

We all had such a GREAT time in New York that day. We had planned this trip over the summer so we were so excited when the day finally arrived. We hope to go back before Christmas to see all the decorations because no place does Christmas like New York!

I couldn't WAIT until Will and Grace came back last month. I can't believe it's been 11 years since it first went off the air?!?

You would love the computer because it allows you to see what everything looks like before you actually purchase it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Hope you're enjoying the Fall!

  28. Hellooooooooo there Pearl!

I was so happy to see that you had posted on my feed reader last week, that I couldn't wait to stop by and leave a comment. Listen, I TOTALLY understand your absence blogging and your preference to use Facebook as a way of social media. So many people I know use Facebook as well.

I too have cut back on the time I spend blogging. Partially because I just needed a break after 10 years of consistent blogging, and partially because I began to feel as if I was spending way too much time online. I now post on no schedule, only when I feel the desire to do so. Two years ago, I actually stopped blogging for two months.

Yes....I finally decided to move to my favorite city - New York. I've been wanting to move back there for many years, but now seems to be the perfect time. I will be moving at the end of August 2018; transferring to another store in New York. I'll have this next year to find a place to live and make the move.

Absolutely! I would LOVE to meet up with you and MWM if/when you come back for a visit. That would be sooooooooooo much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by, m'dear! You have been very missed!

Yes, I previously lived in NYC for 5 years when I went to school for acting. I first visited the city when I was only 14 years old and instantly knew that it was a city I would eventually live. I LOVE that city with all my heart!
