Yes, did you hear that Spring has sprung?

And did you also hear that Winter is the new Spring?

Well, at least it's that way here along the East Coast of America.

Actually, we got word of a snow storm (a nor'easter) the day before Spring was to arrive. Then, on Tuesday the 20th (spring equinox), it began to snow and hasn't stopped. Today, Wednesday the 21st, at about 7:25 AM, this is what it looked like when I woke up; opened the mini blinds and looked out my windows...

It is now 6:30 PM on Wednesday the 21st , and it still hasn't stopped. Here, take a look...

At about 8 AM this morning, I received a text from my job saying that we would not be opening and to take the day off.

Yahooooooooooooooooooooooo!

You know me, as much I'm looking forward to Spring, I first jumped into a warm shower; dressed; then put on my winter coat, hat, scarf and gloves; then ran outside into the streets for one last snow storm hurrah!

At one point, I got so excited about the abundant snow that I actually twirled around in circles and imagined that I was inside a snow globe after it had been shook.

Call me insane, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm going to savor every last white flake until it's done for the year.

Here are some shots from my day...

Walnut Street

Chestnut Street
There is an Italian market/restaurant on this street that I will sometimes go for a coffee or lunch. Today, I stopped in and ordered a nice, hot Cafè Americano. It really hit the spot!

I had to stop and take a picture of this tree because it looked just like a Christmas tree...

Notice the Falling Ice warning in this next photograph. When you live in a city with tall buildings, the snow and ice will often fall down onto the streets. So it's best not to walk too close to the buildings. In past years I've had drifts of snow fall off certain buildings and land on my head. KA-BOOM! Luckily, it was never anything harmful. But it sure scared the hell out of me.

A snowy alley, not too far from where I live...

After several hours of walking in the snow, I came home and prepared some delicious minestrone soup. OMG...it tasted so good on such a cold, snowy, wintery (spring) day.

I ate TWO bowls.

Ahhhh....comfort food...

Oh, and here's another comfort food (ummm...or rather, drink) that's perfect on a cold, snowy, wintery (spring) night.
Which incidentally, I'll be drinking tonight.

A nice. dark. red...

Salute!

Happy Spring Everyone!
