Post updates by email:

These next set of photographs were taken the last time I was in New York City.

I arrived right before noon, so on the way to my interview I snapped a bunch of images of what it's like at lunchtime in The Big Apple; particularly during the spring and summer months, when everyone is outside celebrating and enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather.

So, let's have some lunch...

Fresh organic fruit shakes and smoothies

Right around noon, you begin to notice the streets getting more and more crowded with people taking their lunch breaks...

Lunch a la cart

I love how in both these next photographs, New Yorkers can eat lunch underneath scaffolding or along an on-the-street-cafe, and act as if it's perfectly normal.

That's because in New York...that is normal.

These next two photographs were taken along Union Square Park

And speaking of New York City, I will be taking five days off this week to look for an apartment. I've been doing a lot of preparation work over the past two weeks, setting up appointments to view various apartments.

Wish me luck!

I won't be online much this week, either posting or visiting your blogs, because I've got a lot to do to get ready for my move in September.

*doing the happy dance*

But I will be sure to keep you updated on my results.

I leave you with a video that totally exemplifies my love and attraction to New York. This video was created by filmmaker, Andrew Clancy, after his first year living in New York City. The emotion he so brilliantly captured is exactly how New York makes me feel. For as big and intimidating as it can appear, it is truly a city with such a warm heart, and a strong and supportive sense of community.

Please enjoy...

Have a faaaaaaaaabulous week, everyone!

I have only been to New York in winter months but even then you could bank on never going hungry! Oooh how well I remember the smell and warmth as I strolled around. I feel all excited about your move and sincerely hope all goes smoothly for you. Good luck with the apartment viewing and everything else you have to do.

  5. Such fancy choices nowadays! I remember good old-fashioned hot dog and pretzel carts. I'm sure they still exist in some parts of the city, though.

GOOD LUCK apartment hunting! I'm so excited for you - hopefully you'll come back with a future home all picked out. September is going to get here so quickly!

  7. Hey there Mark!

I know, can you believe the FANCY choices nowadays? When I first lived in NYC, the carts were primarily hot dogs, pretzels, and MAYBE knishes, but that was it. And yes, they still do exist in some parts of the city.

Thanks so much for your excitement and support in finding a future home. I'll be going into NYC tomorrow!!!!!! I have a feeling everything will work out.

Have a faaaaaaaabulous week, my friend!

    X to you and Tara

  8. Hellooooooooo there, Debbie!

And yes, I will definitely be taking pictures, for sure.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by. Have a faaaaaaaabulous rest of your week!

  9. Thank you, Lisa :)

Isn't the video so beautifully done? The second I found it, I knew I wanted to share it on my blog because it totally captures everything I feel in my heart about that city. I LOVE it!

I used to go to school on Madison Ave, not far from Madison Square Park. You would love it because it's a peaceful oasis, tucked within a very busy part of the city. It's also a very dog-friendly park.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great rest of your week! See ya when I get back, with LOTS of pics!

  13. Ron, I have to agree with your reader, Rob, who said that NOBODY photographs New York the way you do. As he said, you heart and love shines through every photo and every word.

I watched the video clip you shared today after I got home from work and by the end of it, I was in tears. What a beauty tribute to my native home. And having known you for many years, and knowing how much you love that city, I can see WHY it resonates with you.

"For as big and intimidating as it can appear, it is truly a city with such a warm heart, and a strong and supportive sense of community." You are so right, Ron. And even though I don't live there now, I still feel proud to be a New Yorker!

The best to you in finding a new apartment. I just know you'll find the perfect place. It's destiny that you live there again!

I know you'll be right at home there, again, and will look forward to hearing all about it... you know, the 3 days a year I pop in to my blog. haha I so want to do better... makes me a little sad when I think of all I miss from such cool, interesting people and then struggle to catch up all at once. *sigh*
