The first time I ever saw Monica Bellucci was in the movie, Malena, in which she literally took my breath away.

As you all have previous read on my blog, I love anything Italian--the food, the wine, the music, the passion, and most of all....I find Italian people (both men and women) so incredibly attractive.

Malena synopsis:

In 1941, Renato was 13 years old and although the world was at war, nothing ever happened in his sleepy village in Sicily. Until the day he discovered something that would change his life forever... Malena, the beautiful young war widow who was the obsession of every man and the envy of every woman. Because of her, Renato will come to learn all of life's lessons and find himself in places he never could have imagined.

The cinematography in the film is exquisite. And the music score goes right to your heart.

Here are six pictures from the film...

I love how she goes through several different physical transitions in the film, all of which are beautiful...

After seeing the above photos, is it any surprise that Monica began her career as a model? Even today, with all her work as a film actress, she still (at 55 years old) is offered modeling work with many top International brands.

Over the past year, I watched several of her interviews. And what impressed me the most, was not how beautiful and sexy she is, but how down-to-earth and natural she is. And she's very smart. You can tell, just by the way she speaks. Which by the way, she speaks FIVE languages.

Here are some photographs of her modeling work...

At any age, Monica Bellucci is...bella donna!

A beautiful woman!

I leave you with a clip from one of her commercials for Dolce & Gabbana Martini Gold. I have no idea what anyone is saying because they're speaking Italian, however I could care less because the commercial is a stunning piece of art. Enjoy!

Have a beautiful New Year, everyone!
Salute!

  1. FIVE languages?? Wow, that is impressive, Ron. I think other countries do a better job than we do in educating kids on understanding other languages -- and in our world that's steadily becoming smaller (thanks to technology), it seems that would be a valuable asset.

You're right -- Monica is stunning. I'm half-Italian, you'll recall, but I got my dad's fair skin and hair. I'm a real oddity when I get together with my darker cousins, ha!

Have a happy 2020, my friend, and thank you for such a lovely post! xx

  2. Ron, I have a HUGE crush on Monica Bellucci too. LOL! Oh my god, she's gorgeous isn't she? The first movie I saw her in was "The Matrix" with Keanu Reeves. Loved her in "Spectra" ( the Bond movie) as well. I can't believe that I've not seen, "Malena"!?!? I will definitely look for it on Netflix though because from what you shared, I know I will love it. I may even try and find it tonight.

I'm Spanish, but I love anything Italian as well. I've been to Italy only once, but want to go back to see more of it. It's such a beautiful country!

The pictures you shared of Monica are stunning. I love the one of her in that red dress!

Thank you for such a beautiful post to start the New Year, Ron! Happy 2020! xo

  3. Ron, I forgot to mention in my first comment how much I enjoyed the Dolce & Gabbana commercial. You're right, it's a work of art!

  4. Ron, what beautiful tribute to such a beautiful woman! I know of Monica Bellucci from the movie, Malena, as well. Isn't it a glorious film? Ennio Morricone wrote the music soundtrack for the movie and I agree, it goes straight to your heart. He has composed so many wonderful scores. He's brilliant!

The photos your shared here are really wonderful. They show Monica is a beautiful variety of looks. I had never seen the D & G commercial before, so thank you for sharing it. I love that it's in black and white.

    Happy 2020, Ron!

Denise, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!!! Yes, she's gorgeous alright! I saw her in 'the Matrix too, but haven't seen the Bond movie she's in. OMG..you're going to LOVE "Malena"!!! It's one of those films that captures you and takes you on a journey. The young Italian boy who is in the film is wonderful as well. He's got the most expressive eyes.

Can you believe that I've never been to Italy? Gotta get there! My only fear is that once I get there, I won't want to leave. I really want to see Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, and Sicily.

Doesn't she look so sexy in that red dress? I think that dress is from Dolce & Gabbana.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a faaaaaaabulous 2020!

    Ciao bella!

  7. Hey there Candice!

Yes, "Malen", is a glorious film! It's as if a painting came to life!

"Ennio Morricone wrote the music soundtrack for the movie and I agree, it goes straight to your heart. He has composed so many wonderful scores. He's brilliant!"

OMG...I LOVE his work!!! I first came to know is music when I saw the movie, "The Mission", with Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro. What an amazing film!

I had never seen that Dolce & Gabbano commercial because I don't watch television. I only stumbled upon it while searching for Monica Bellucci interviews. Yes, I love that it's shot in B&W too. It gives it such a old European feel.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Happy 2020 to you too!

    Cheers and X

  8. Yes, Debbie, can you believe that....FIVE languages!!! I stumbled upon some of her past interviews where she spoke French, Italian, Spanish, Persian, and English!

"I think other countries do a better job than we do in educating kids on understanding other languages -- and in our world that's steadily becoming smaller (thanks to technology), it seems that would be a valuable asset."

I so agree with you! And yes, people from other countries seem to speak several different languages, which is awesome!

    Isn't Monica a stunning lady?

"I'm half-Italian, you'll recall, but I got my dad's fair skin and hair. I'm a real oddity when I get together with my darker cousins, ha!"

Even though I'm full Italian, I'm very fair. That's because my father was from the South of Italy, but my mother was from the North. I look just like my father, however, my coloring is from my mother, who was fair.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend! Happy 2020!!!!!!!

    Cheers and X

  9. Color me confused . . . Dolce & Gabbana makes alcohol??

Gorgeous commercial, Ron. Just beautiful. Why do I never see any interesting commercials when I watch TV? I have never heard of Monica, but she is a lovely woman. It's fun to see all her different looks in the photos you shared.

I hope 2020 brings you great joy, Ron. XO

  10. "Color me confused . . . Dolce & Gabbana makes alcohol??"

Yes, can you believe that? It totally confused me as well, until I spotted this commercial on You Tube. Monica Bellucci is very good friends with Dolce & Gabbana, who has designed a lot of her wardrobe. They have also used her in many of their editorial work for their clothing and fragrance lines.

Isn't the commercial gorgeous? I agree, I never see interesting commercials here in the States. It's the European commercials that are the most interesting because they create them as if they were creating a work of art, or a film. Very impressive!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Happy New Year to you and your family!

    Cheers and X

  11. Ron, Monica Bellucci is a stunning lady. Wow! I like the Italian look too. Dark hair and dark eyes. Yes! I also have a weakness for Italian food. Really enjoyed the video clip commercial. My girlfriend is a graphic artist, so I shared it with her. She loved it!

Happy New Year, dude! Looking forward to reading your blog this year.

  12. Hey there Matt!

Isn't she a stunner? Bellissima! Me too, I like dark hair and dark eyes. And isn't something how nobody ever dislikes Italian food? I mean, what is there to dislike, it's all so delicious.

Glad to hear that your girlfriend enjoyed the commercial. It's truly a work of art!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Wishing you all the best in 2020!

    Cheers and X

  13. What a beautiful woman! I haven't seen "Malena" but since it's by the same filmmaker who gave us "Cinema Paradiso"--one of my favorite films of all time--I have to see it.

To be honest, I haven't seen much of her work, but I'm going to change that in a hurry. The woman is a walking work of art.

And I love that Dolce & Gabanna commercial. I don't blame those guys for following her. If I were there, I'd be leading the pack!

Great post, buddy, and a great way to start 2020! Thanks!

  14. She is a stunning, for sure. And, she emits a classic beauty that doesn't seem very common among performers anymore. Being mostly of German ancestry, I covet almost everything Italian! You might find this 2012 Super Bowl spot entertaining https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voP3U83kigk
I wish you all the best for a fantastic 2020! X

Yes, you are absolutely right, Rob! And like you, "Cinema Paradiso" is one of my favorite films as well. OMG...the ending was so beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes.

"The woman is a walking work of art." You said it, a work of art!!!

Don't you just love the commercial? Leave it to those Italians for creating a commercial that looks like a feature film. It's exquisite!

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Wishing you a faaaaabulous 2020, filled with more growth and discovery!

    Cheers and X

  16. Yes, you are so right, Lisa, she emits a classic beauty that doesn't seem to exist among performers anymore. She's a treasure!

And OMG...I can't thank you enough for sharing that link from the 2012 Super Bowl commercial. I watched it THREE times! It was BRILLIANT!

    *thunderous applause*

    Happy New Year, my friend!

  17. Che bella faccia! Which means, "What a beautiful face!" in Italian. Ron, she's gorgeous! I'm half Italian, so I completely understand your love of anything Italian because I feel the same way. I'm not familiar with Monica Bellucci, but you've got me interested in knowing more about her. The movie you mentioned sounds like something I would really enjoy.

What stunning photographs! And I love how she's not all nipped and tucked, she looks like a REAL woman.

The commercial is gorgeous. If you didn't tell me that it was a commercial, I would have thought it was a trailer for an Italian movie!

Happy New Year, Ron! Wishing you all the best in 2020! xo

  18. I agree, Elaine...what a beautiful face! Isn't she stunning? I love her dark eyes and hair!

Try to see if you can find the movie on Netflix or Hulu because I think you would really enjoy it. And watch it while sipping a nice glass of red wine and a margarita pizza because it will add to the whole "Italian" feel of the movie. HA!

Yes, I love that she looks like real woman too; allowing herself to age gracefully. She's so sexy!

" If you didn't tell me that it was a commercial, I would have thought it was a trailer for an Italian movie!"

Right? I literally looks like a preview to a full length movie! It's a work of art!

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor! Wishing you all the best in 2020 too!

    Cheers and X

  19. I love reading about your girl crushes, Ron. Because you have such excellent taste! Monica is so beautiful you can't help but admire every inch of her. I don't mean that in a perverted way...she's just lovely!

Fun fact: I like Italian things, too. Especially ones that start with the letter P and end with the letter A. You know: PastA, PizzA....

Hope your New Year was excellent!

  20. Glad you enjoy them, Mark! I think women add so much beauty to this world!

And thank you, isn't she stunning? What I think is so attractive about her is that she has a natural body. She's not all buff and thin. She's curvy and voluptuous.

"I like Italian things, too. Especially ones that start with the letter P and end with the letter A. You know: PastA, PizzA...."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That cracked me the hell up!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Hope your New Year was excellent as well!

Can't wait to hear all about your trip to Nevada!

Cheers and X to you and Tara
