Okay, so today I am going to share something that was introduced to me about two months ago, from someone who works at Trader Joe's. Whenever I'm in the store, if she is working, we will always share food item discoveries and recipes with each other because we both seem to enjoy the same cuisine, primarily Mediterranean.

And I have to say that anything she has ever suggested to me, I've thoroughly enjoyed. Such as:

Dukkah (pronounced: doo-kah)

Dukkah is a traditional Egyptian blend of nuts, seeds, and warm spices.

Well I've got to tell you, the first time I tried it, I was hooked. In fact, the next time I went to Trader Joe's, I thanked her profusely.

However, guess what? When I returned to the spice aisle to pick up another container to have as a backup, I found the shelf completely empty and void of signage. I eventually found out that Dukkah was an item they were temporarily stocking. Therefore, when they ran out, that was it. I even tried to see if I could purchase it on their website. NADA! That's the only thing I don't like about Trader Joe's. They get you hooked on an item, and then they stop carrying it. And that happens quite frequently. I understand why they do that with "seasonal" items, but not when it comes to a product that is "non-seasonal", such as Dukkah.

So, do you know what I wanted to say to Trader Joe's when I found out they no longer carried Dukkah?

I wanted to shout, "FUK-KAH!"

Anyhow, moving on...

The first time I tried Dukkah was the way it was suggested on the label: "Take a hunk of crusty bread, dip it in olive oil, then in Dukkah."

OH...MY...GOD! I thought I had died and gone to Egyptian heaven! It was the perfect marriage of salty, nutty, and sweet. I was so overcome with rapture, I couldn't even speak. I just sat there eating piece, after piece, after piece, after piece.

Here are some photographs I found online. Don't they look yummy?

Dukkah can also be added to many of other things besides bread dipped in olive oil.
Here, take a look...

Dukkah Roasted Potatoes (I made these last weekend and had a foodie orgasm!)

Garlic Hummus With Dukkah

Since avocado is my very favorite fruit in the entire world, I saved these next three Dukkah photos for last. I love avocado so much that I eat one every single day. And somedays, TWO. I'm surprised I haven't turned into an avocado...

I love this one because of the feta, which is one of my two favorite cheeses (Romano being the other one)...

I can eat food like this every single day of my life...

So if you've never tried Dukkah, you must! It's scrumptious beyond belief.

Take it from me, Mr. Avocado

Have a delicious week, y'all!
