Today I would like to share several wellness practices that I use (and have used for years) that support my health.
Let me start by saying I have nothing against conventional medicine for certain things. However, I'm someone whose body works best using alternative therapies not only for healing, but for prevention as well. As long as I can remember, I've sensed how my body responds best (and not best) to different things, so I take listening to my body seriously. I've never been one to surrender myself to a medical doctor without first questioning and then doing my investigation.
Contrary to most people, I don't choose to get vaccines or flu shots. Instead, I take daily supplements to keep my immune system strong.
These things work for me. Everyone is different.
I believe there is purpose and power in both conventional and alternative therapies. The choice is ours to use one or the other, or both.
The following are modalities I practice that support all aspects of my health.
Sharing Positive Energy and Grace:
The first thing I do every morning before getting out of bed is set my intention for the day.
I am blessed in that I've been graced with tremendous wealth in my life. Things like: love, support, a job, food, clothing, a comfortable place to live, and the knowingness that I am being guided and directed for my highest good. I have never felt alone or lonely. I always feel as if I'm being held.
I am not a religious person in that I follow a specific dogma. However, I strongly believe in a Higher Power and have a personal relationship with it.
Every morning I place my hands over my heart and say, " Thank you for the abundant wealth in my life. And I share that wealth with others. As I move through my day, I intend that everyone I come in contact with receives whatever they need for their highest good, whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual."
If a family member or close friend is going through something challenging, I will focus on sending them positive energy. And it works because I've had people call or text and say that they could feel me thinking about them.
Stretching:
Every morning, I spend about 10 minutes stretching on the floor. It keeps my body flexible, strong, and mobile. Being that I live in a city, I also walk a great deal and take stairs. One thing I've learned about the aging process is to keep the body moving.
Gua Sha Facial Massage:
This is a practice I've been doing for about six months and love it. As you know, I am very much into Asian skincare products.
Gua Sha (
gwah-shah) originated in ancient China. It’s one of the oldest forms of traditional Chinese medicine ever recorded, with historical records dating back to the Stone Age. Besides the skincare and lymphatic benefits, it is
incredibly relaxing. I use my Gua Sha stones (jade and rose quartz) at night on a clean face. And I will often feel myself falling asleep by the end of the session.
Benefits-
-Brightens Complexion
-Relieves Facial Tension
-Reduces Puffiness
-Decreases Dark Circles
-Increases Collagen Production
-Improves Skin Vitality
-Improves Lymphatic Drainage
-Improves Blood Circulation
Reiki:
I have been a certified Reiki practitioner since 1997 and use it on myself several times a week. Reiki is a powerful form of "energy work" that addresses the whole - body, mind, and spirit.
"We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted, there is balance and harmony within and around us, and we experience a sense of well-being."
Not only do I use Reiki on myself, but I've also used it as a volunteer, offering my service to HIV and hospice patients. Reiki taught me that healing doesn't always mean a physical healing. It can be the healing of someone who is at the end of their life and accepting the transition peacefully.
Foot Reflexology:
I am also a certified Foot Reflexologist (since 2000). I can't tell you enough how much this practice helps me. Reflexology is like getting a "tune-up" on my body. I don't do a full session on my feet every day. I sometimes focus on specific areas of concern. Examples: 1) if my allergies are bothering me, I will focus on the sinus, head, and lung areas. 2) if I have a heavy meal (such as pasta), I will focus on the stomach and intestine areas to help with digestion.
Lymphatic Drainage:
The lymphatic system plays an important role in keeping the body healthy by draining excess fluid from tissues and helping to fight infection and disease.
Blessing My Food:
This is a practice I do every day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
I quietly say to myself,
"Thank you for this food and the means to have it and enjoy it. May this food balance in complete harmony with my body. Arigato! (Japanese for thank you.)"
By blessing our food, we recognize its sacredness and how it supports life, therefore we can synchronize our frequency in gratitude at the moment we are eating.

Oh, wait! And one more thing...
I get my daily dose of an antioxidant (which is good for the immune system) every night by drinking a glass of red wine. LOL!
Cheers! 🍷
Wishing you all abundant heath!💖
