I hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day weekend.

Mine was wonderfully quiet because practically everyone in Philadelphia goes out to the Jersey shore for one last summer hurrah on Labor Day, leaving the city sparsely populated.

As you all know, summer is my least favorite season; therefore, I'm always ecstatically happy when it concludes. However, I will say, that this summer flew by very fast and it was not nearly as hot and humid as past summers. Although, this week feels like I'm sitting in hell with Satan. Starting Monday, the temperature skyrocketed into the 90s with intense humidity. And it's supposed to be like that all this week. Today, (Wednesday) will be the hottest at 98. That's okay though because after this week, it drops back down into the low 70s.

Hallelujah, baby Jesus!

I can't wait to start making hearty autumn soups with warm bread, the taste of pumpkin butter, the smell and sound of fallen leaves beneath my feet, and wearing black turtlenecks.

*doing the happy autumn dance*

Anyhoo, today I would like to share a few photographs I took over the past three weeks. My focus was reflections

I so enjoyed walking around the city looking up, down, and all around, capturing them.

Please enjoy!

I would like to conclude with some cat humor.

I spotted this photograph on Instagram. And being the cat lover I am, fell in love with that cute little furry face peeking through the leaves!

Later that same day (I kid you not), I spotted this graphic on my Bitmoji account and immediately thought, "OMG...this photo is identical!

Viola! A cat reflection.

Well, kinda sorta.

Personally, I think the cat is cuter...

Meow!

Wishing you a reflective week, folks!💖

  1. Ron, these photos are stunning! Each one more striking than the next. You have such eye for taking the perfect image. Your composition and lighting is spot on. Do you ever edit your photographs? I'm curious.

That shot of the sun reflecting off the building is just so COOL. It almost looks like a graphic drawing.

And that photo of you and the cat? Priceless!!!!! Lol! Happy Belated Labor Day. Mine was quiet too.

Have a great rest of your week, Ron! xo

  2. Ron, I really like that reflection of you as the post title photo. That is YOU, isn't it? I too am happy to see summer end and fall begin. Summer is not my least favorite season, however, I do not like the heat and humidity that comes with it. We too are having some intense heat this week. Strange for September, isn't it?

Well done on the reflection photographs! I love the constrast between the ones that are bright and blue, and the ones that you took on a more cloudy, gray day. The second one down looks so beautifully ominous. Where was the location in the photo of river rock pool? What a great reflection!

Cat lover also! Too funny about finding a similar image on Bitmoji. Adorable reflection.

Are you still enjoying Only Murders In the Building? I have mixed feelings.

  3. Gooooooood morning, Candice!

Thank you! And yes, I do sometimes edit my photos. I will crop them and adjust the exposure if the lighting is too dark or too bright. But mainly it's the cropping because that gives me the ability to adjust the 'focus' of the image. If I use my camera, I will shoot manually. If I use my cell phone, I will primarily shoot auto.

I took that photo of the sun reflecting one morning while walking home from Trader Joe's. That one I took with my cell phone.

Isn't that cats face the cutest? I had a male cat who's face was very similar.

Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a great rest of your week too!

  4. Lots of shine in these Reflections, Ron. You captured the city on some hot summer days. Holy cow, has it been humid here as well. I was still roasting when I walked at 7 pm last night. I would not have had the energy to lift my phone and take a picture!

My favorite photo in this batch is the last one because you can see the building, the trees, and the sky in the reflection. Plus, the water is cooling us down after the previous hot metal buildings! I also like the reflection of the church in the 1701 building photo.

Lol, Bitmoji cracks me up! They have the best graphics. My husband and I are always finding funny ones to send to each other. I hope you’re have a grrreat week, my friend! XO

  5. Howdy, Daniel!

Yup, that's me! That was one of the last photos I took for this photo theme.

Oy vey, yes, this heat is very strange for Sept. Yet, the weather overall (seasonally) has been strange. It's hard to differentiate the seasons anymore because they all seem to blend together into one season. I can't wait for the day this year when I can finally wear a jacket and not sweat. God, how I hate to be hot.

Thanks! I love that -- "beautifully ominous"! The river rock pool I took outside the Barnes Museum in Fairmount Park.

Isn't that kitty cat face adorable?

And speaking of 'Only Murders in the Building', I too have very mixed feelings. This season is so strange and feels disjointed. I find myself enjoying one episode and then not enjoying the next. I watched the 6th episode last night and thought, "Meh!" I will continue to watch it, but I'm not overly excited this season.

Always great seeing you, Daniel. Thanks so much for stopping by!

You too? OMG, it's been soooooooooooooooo freaking hot and humid here this week. As I said, this summer was not as hot and humid as previous years. But I think I spoke too soon because all of that heat and humidity is hitting us NOW. Ugh!

I took that water reflection photo outside the Barnes Museum over in Fairmount Park.

" I also like the reflection of the church in the 1701 building photo."

Thanks! I like that one too because it looks as though the church is INSIDE the building. That's St Peter and Paul's Cathedral. One day I'm going to take pictures inside because it's a stunning cathedral.

Don't you LOVE Bitmoji? Sometimes my friend Marianne and I will text each the same Bitmoji graphic! I really enjoy the app.

Thanks a bunch of stopping by, my friend! Hope you're having a grrrrrrreat week too!

  7. Ditto, Ron! This season is so disjointed. I wonder if there will be a season 4?

  8. I wonder the same thing! We shall see.

  9. ".Although, this week feels like I'm sitting in hell with Satan." ---- ROFLMAO! Ron, that cracked me up. I'm not a fan of summer myself, so I will be happy to see cooler weather roll in. I'm worried that we won't have any winter (snow) at all. Like last year.

Stupendous reflection shots! Damn, I can't choose which one(s) I like the most because they all rock. But if I had too, I would say (1, 2, 5, and 9).

And course, you and the cat. So identical that you look like twins! Isn't Bitmoji fun?

Here's to a cooler next three Sept weeks!

  10. Morning, Matt!

Thank you! I had fun taking these pics.

"I'm worried that we won't have any winter (snow) at all. Like last year."

Meeeeeeeeeeeee too! Last winter was such a BUST. We had literally five snowflakes the whole winter. I'm hoping for a blizzard this year to make up for last year. LOL!

Yes, I love Bitmoji. I don't have a lot of apps on my phone, but that I do have because I enjoy it so much.

"Here's to a cooler next three Sept weeks!"

    A-MEN!

Have a terrific rest of your week, my friend. And thanks for stopping by!

  11. WOW! Excellent reflection photographs, Ron! The 1701 one is incredible. It's like an optical illusion. I also like the reflection in the water puddle.

Like you, I am so looking forward to the autumn weather and the food. Can't wait to wear my sweaters, jackets and scarves.

    Bring it on!

  12. Ron, that cat reflection is cuter that cute! You captured some really gorgeous reflections. That's one of the things I miss about living in a city, the tall buildings made of glass and steel. Many years ago I lived in Chicago briefly (a year and a half) and loved being surrounded by all the tall buildings and varied architectural styles.

The first shot of the building looking up to that beautiful blue sky is my fave! I like how you captured the white clouds on the glass. Amazing!

You're right, summer did seem to fly by. I really enjoy summer, so I'm a bit sad :( But I am looking forward to the cooler fall weather. xo

  13. Thank you, Abby!

That's what I thought too! Looks like an optical illusion because it appears as though the cathedral is inside the building.

That puddle shot I took the morning after it had rained the night before.

"Can't wait to wear my sweaters, jackets and scarves."

OMG, meeeeeeeeeeee too! I bought a new winter coat and snow boots last year, but never had the chance to wear either one because it barely snowed and it was not a very cold winter.

    BRING IT ON!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Abby! Have a terrific rest of your week!

  14. Hello there, Clair!

Doesn't that kitty have the most adorable furry face?

"Many years ago I lived in Chicago briefly (a year and a half) and loved being surrounded by all the tall buildings and varied architectural styles."

I have never visited Chicago but have heard (countless times) how wonderful it is. I've seen photos of it and watched movies where it takes place in Chicago and can tell just how wonderful it looks! And it looks MUCH cleaner and more organized than Philadelphia.

Thanks! That's a new building not far from where I live that took about a year and a half to construct. They completed the exterior and am working on the interior. I love the how the wavy shape of the windows!

I know many people who enjoy and love summer, so I understand your feelings. I lived in Florida for 20 years and really enjoyed the tropical weather. However, after 20 years, I began to miss the seasons.

Thanks so much for stopping by, Clair. Have a great rest of your week!

  15. Gorgeous reflection photos, Ron! I love how you've captured the clouds and blue sky in those huge skyscrapers. And that pool between the concrete building and row of trees looks like a great place to read a good book or simply sit and meditate.

I can't tell what all that concrete is right after the building with "1701" on it. I'm trying to determine where the drop-off is. Regardless, I figure I'd have to avoid walking there because I'd surely hurt myself somehow!

Like you, I'm eager for Fall -- pumpkins, boots, sweaters, hot cocoa, and everything. It just can't come soon enough for me! XX

  16. I absolutely love the first photo of you in the reflection.
I'm also looking forward to the cooler weather. This week has been hot and humid. I'd like to open the windows and get some fresh air.
I am laughing at the coincidental cat and Bitmoji. I needed that laugh today.

I hope the rest of your week is wonderful, friend. 😘

  17. Thank you, Debbie!

"And that pool between the concrete building and row of trees looks like a great place to read a good book or simply sit and meditate."

Do you know what's funny? That photo (which is part of the Barnes Museum in Fairmount Park) is where I sit and have either a cup of coffee (cooler months) or an iced tea (warmer months), and listen to quiet music on my cell phone. I kid you not! You're spot on about that!!!!

"I can't tell what all that concrete is right after the building with "1701" on it. I'm trying to determine where the drop-off is. Regardless, I figure I'd have to avoid walking there because I'd surely hurt myself somehow!"

If you mean the picture below the building with 1701 on it, that's a photo of the curb and street where water (rain) pooled, reflecting the building across the street.

" I'm eager for Fall -- pumpkins, boots, sweaters, hot cocoa, and everything. It just can't come soon enough for me!"

A-MEN! Today was so hot that I could barely spend any time outside. I ran some errands and then immediately came home. This is waaaaaaay too hot for September.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend! Stay cool and enjoy the rest of your week!

  18. Helloooooooooo there, Kari!

Thank you, my friend!!! I took that photo last minute.

"I'm also looking forward to the cooler weather. This week has been hot and humid. I'd like to open the windows and get some fresh air."

Me too! Today was truly horrendous. I can't fathom is being SEPTEMBER and it being 98 degrees!?!? Tomorrow too! This heat will not break until next week. UGH! Back in July and August (when it's supposed to be hot) it was much cooler than this.

Don't you love the precious little face on that cat? I want to kiss it! LOL!

Have a great rest of your week too. And stay cool, my friend!

  19. Ron, these are just stunning! #2 and #3 look like they came our of a Superman movie where they CGI buildings in Gotham City!!! They look like they were graphically created. They are so perfect, they don't look REAL! What is the building in the third photo down? I'm in awe of it! I am also in love with the final photo of the pond with the stones in it. What a beautiful image.

I've said this to you many times before that you are such a talented individual when it comes to photography. You just know how to take the best photographs. And not only urban photography, but I remember the photos you took of your friend last year. The portrait shots. They were equally as wonderful.

You've got the eye, my friend!

And I am loving the "cat and you" photo. What a hoot!

Me too, I can't wait until this heat and humidity are over with and I can put on a jacket and scarf, while eating a bowl of homemade minestrone soup!

Stay cool, Ron! Fall is almost here. xo

  20. Howdy, Elaine!

    Thank you!

"#2 and #3 look like they came our of a Superman movie where they CGI buildings in Gotham City!!! They look like they were graphically created. They are so perfect, they don't look REAL!"

OMG, that made me laugh because it's so true, they don't look real. I could picture Superman flying over the tops of the buildings!!! And I swear to you that I did NOT use a filter of any kind. I that photo (and the one above it) with my cell phone camera using auto mode.

That building is the Comcast Technology Building, located on Market Street. Isn't it fabulous? The photo above that one is the Comcast Building.

" I can't wait until this heat and humidity are over with and I can put on a jacket and scarf, while eating a bowl of homemade minestrone soup!"

OMG, I can't wait either! For the past week, I've been finding all sorts of Fall/Winter recipes online and bookmarking them. I LOVE comfort food!!!!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, Elaine! Stay cool too! Next week it's going to be much better.

Have a nice rest of your week!

  21. Ron, these photos are GAWGEOUS! In all the years I've been reading your blog, I've watched your photographs skills grow and become more and more fabulous. Your pictures always looks as though they were taken by a PRO. Which you are!

The first picture that is primarily blue, is just stunning. What a view! The clouds look as though they were painted/or drawn on the glass windows. The reflection you captured in 1701 is incredible. It looks like you did some trick photography! And I love that shot of the river rocks/pebbles in that pool of water. Such a cool reflection!

And of course, you and the cat are my FAVORITES! It is ironic how much they DO look alike! Personally, I think you're BOTH cute!

Hope you're having a glorious week, sir Ron! xo

  22. Hola Denise!

HA! I loved that....GAWGEOUS!!! You sounded like Barbra Streisand in 'Funny Girl' --- "Hello, gawgeous!

Thank you for your sweet and encouraging words. They made me blush. I've always been interested in photography, ever since I can remember. In fact, my mother knew that too because she bought me my very first camera (a Kodak Polaroid) for Christmas one year. And I was sooooooooooo happy!

I got lucky on that 1701 picture because I just so happened to turn around as I was walking to Target and spotted the reflection of the cathedral in the glass.

Isn't that kitty cat pic hilarious? I kid you not, I discovered that look-a-like graphic on Bitmoji that very same day!

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Hope you had a fantastic Labor Day weekend and week. It's almost the weekend again!

  25. OH, that was a brutal week! There were some other hellish days too, but, our a/c works well and was thankful to have it. Summer was not as enjoyable for me this year, (I do like a bit of each season, but couldn't quite get into it as much as other years) so am glad for it now being Autumn!
The photos... of course, I like YOU in the cafe window! The clouds are neat on the building. The puddle one, cool. I especially like the one with the rocks... but just because I'm thinking... oooh, ahhh, they would be great for painting!! haha

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wasn't the weather back then HORRENDOUS? Soooooooooo glad that autumn is rolling in! And the rain doesn't bother me at all, as long as it stays cool!

"I especially like the one with the rocks... but just because I'm thinking... oooh, ahhh, they would be great for painting!! haha"

Next time you're in Philly I'll take you there and we can scoop out some of those river rocks for you!!! LOL!
