One of the unique things about living in a crowded city, is the fact that people have a tendency to live in their own little worlds, forgetting that there are others around them; watching them live in their own worlds!
I actually find that very amusing.
I’m a people watcher. When you live in a city…you can’t help but observe a wide variety of characters living out their secret fantasies.
The other day, while I was sitting in my favorite bookstore, enjoying a cup of java and a magazine, I began to hear someone singing at one of the C.D. listening stations. I don’t know what type of music he was listening to, but whatever it was…he was totally off key. That didn’t seem to faze him, because he had his eyes closed, totally enjoying the rapture of his musical moment.
I noticed that a few customers where also watching him; shaking their heads in disbelief and looking around to see if anyone else was observing this.
Then, this gentleman, actually started to dance to the music.
Now, I’m not talking about a little head bobbing and toe tapping….I mean dancing!
It was like witnessing a full fledged “American Idol” performance.
This guy was flailing his arms, flicking his wrists, snapping his fingers, gyrating his hips, and doing full 360 degree turns; while getting the headphone cord wrapped completely around his neck.
This guy was on another planet….URANUS.
His voice got louder and louder. I swear to God I thought he was going to rip his vocal cords.
I could see the looks on the faces of the people around him, as they started to run away in fear that he might be an escaped mental patient.
Meanwhile, I’m laughing my ass off, totally enjoying this fiasco.
Just then, a sales associate came by and tapped him on the shoulder saying, “I’m sorry sir, but you can’t do this…you’re disturbing the other customers.”
He said, “Oh, I’m sorry…I’m sorry, I didn’t realize I was being so loud.”
Then, as the sales associate walked away, this guy went right back into his own world.
The track must have changed, because he then went into singing a ballad.
I thought to myself, “Hey…more people should be like this. To get so caught up and enjoy the moment…is something so few of us do."
So, thank you crazy person…I enjoyed your performance!

You are soooooooooooooo right. More of us should let go and get in tune with our feelings. If we do not hurt anyone else and we enjoy and savor the moment then we are doing what we are intended to do. The person doing the singing and the dancing was the real teacher, and you my friend were the attentive student. Good for you. Now I am headed for the shower with my music in my head.
ReplyDeleteMorning Dave~
ReplyDeleteSinging and dancing in the shower are perhaps the most fullfilling musical moments on ones' life!
(as long as you have a shower mat)
When I was in musical theater, I use to warm up my voice while taking a shower before a Sunday matinee. The shower is a "magical" place for singing!
You're right Dave...He definately was the real teacher!!!
Thanks for stopping by...and enjoy your musical moment!
Ciao Ron!!!

ReplyDeleteI am SOOOOOO happy you found yourself to Vent!
Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment.
Wow Tuscany! It's so funny that you should mention Tuscany, because yesterday at work, I was talking to a gentleman who works in my same department, who is from Italy, and he was telling me about how gorgeous it is!
One of these days, I swear, I MUST get to Italy. Every American who ever visits your country, ALWAYS comes back and says that it was their favorite place they ever visited!
The place, the people, and the food!
God Bless Italy!!!!!
Yes...I wanted to start a new blog that would be more personal - where I could vent my view points, and share the crazy and humorous experiences I always seem to have!
It's also a place for me to practice web design coding. Blogspot allows you the most creative freedom to play with your blog design. It's fun!
Thank you for enjoying Francesca. Please stop by anytime you feel, it's always a pleasure to talk to you!
Oh...and that's so cool about the Italian translation..I didn't know it did that...thanks for telling me!
Ciao,
Ron
One of my favourite sayings is:
ReplyDeleteDance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth." Mark Twain
I think I will! xx
Go for it Akelamalu!
ReplyDeleteLet it out!
Thanks for your visit, my friend.
