Lately it seems that not only people who I closely associate with offline, but also many of those who I blog with are going through painful challenges involving the loss of loved ones, or have either friends or family members who are experiencing a devastating illness.

And I have to tell you, this truly rips my heart out because I can’t bare to see anyone in pain. Whether it be physical, mental, or emotional.

I realize that pain, suffering, and losing people who are close to us is a part of life, and that we will all experience these things at one time or another. However, knowing this doesn’t make it any easier to accept and embrace while it’s happening.

We find ourselves lost, heart-broken, angry, uncertain, and desperately seeking answers.

It’s some painful shit to go through, isn’t it?

Perhaps it’s because I feel things on a very deep level, but whenever I hear of someone’s pain and suffering, I literally feel as if it’s happening to me.

I’m not a religious person, meaning I don’t belong to any organized religion, yet without a doubt believe in a Higher Power. I also believe that whatever effects one human being, affects us all. I believe we are all interconnected ‘energetically’ and that whatever we practice in the way of prayer or meditation can reach far and wide; helping those who are in need because energy has no boundaries.

And that’s how I envision a Higher Power. It is the source of the energy. So when we pray or meditate, the Higher Power delivers the energy to wherever it is needed.

We can’t always be sure of how our prayers or meditations are being used to help someone, but we CAN be sure that they are being used for the person’s highest good.

And I truly believe that.

This past week, I’ve been spending a lot of time sharing ’good vibes’ with the people in my life who are experiencing tremendous challenges right now. And not only with them, but with all those in world who might be going through things that are very difficult.

I may not be able to be with all these people in person, or even know them on a personal level, but it really doesn't matter because ‘good vibes’ will be felt.

So, I ask if you could all take a few minutes this weekend, and either pray or meditate, sending out LOVE to our fellow human beings in the world who could use some support.

And trust that your ‘good vibes’ are being received.....

Thank you everyone!

Wishing you a faaaaabulous weekend!

  1. Thank you for a brilliant post, Ron. You are so full of compassion and love it makes me proud to be one of your avid readers. I have my own theories about 'organised' religion which I won't go into now, but I will say this: there are thousands who feel and pray and worry about others without the need to go somewhere special to do it. There are sufferers in the world right now who desperately need our prayers. I'll definitely join you at the weekend. Have a good one yourself.

  2. I believe in God and I pray. Not because I have to, but because I want to. Jesus for me is first and foremost the man who turned the other cheek when he was hit, an extremely peaceful a man.

Faith for me is about finding peace, not restrictions or jugdement. I get that so much in this world already.

I will pray. I actually do already quite often. I jog and my thoughts wander to all the dear folks in my life, on and off-line!

    Hugs dear Ron!

  3. If everyone would practice this along with a little kindness, the world would be a better place. At our church, we call prayer, 'agreeing.' We are 'agreeing' with one another to lift people up to the Lord.

Ron, thanks for always making me smile. Have a safe and healthy weekend!

  12. No matter how bad it is, someone else has it worse. That's hard to imagine sometimes, isnt it?

About 5 years ago I moved closer to my family to spend time with my parents, who were both just starting to get sick. Now, it is very close to the end for my mom and my dad is still fighting the big fight. I am so grateful for the time we've spent together these past few years, and for all of the little good vibes than have been coming our way and will continue to come our way until the very last day. Something small can make a HUGE difference in the life of someone suffering. If you're always waiting for the big moment - the critical time when your help and support will make a big splash - that time might never come. When someone says to me "I'm praying for you" or "I'm praying for your mom," those words have more meaning that the person saying them will ever know. Great post Ron.

  17. There's definitely something there. I'm not sure what. But I do appreciate the sending of good thoughts, energy and/or vibrations. Knowing that there a other people that do actually feel and try to understand the pain of others is very comforting. It also gives hope that not everyone is a selfish, self-absorbed pinhead.

Thanks for your good vibes this week. I needed 'em!

  18. Another lovely post :)

I sometimes find I have a real love that surges up inside me for any given blogger, at any given time. I have no idea why, except that they may be in need of it at the time. I once felt this same love (compassion) for a total stranger who was sitting a little away from me on a train.

I don't think it matters what name you give it. Something is at work for us, and in us that we can't see. If we all learned to use it for the benefit of one another I'm sure the world would be a better place.

  19. Thanks for the good vibes!!! I've been sick since Tuesday with the virus from hell. I thought I managed to avoid it with all the vitamins and hand washing/sanitizing but no, it got me and good too. I thought yesterday I was feeling a bit better and then got sick again last night and spent most of today in bed. Bleh.
I'm on the mend, however, some others I know have been dealing with much much worse and it's heartbreaking to think about their situations. The girlfriend of mine whose husband died the day after Christmas is still going thru so much pain and sadness. Some people might have felt that because he was sick for so long that it might somehow be easier for her to let go but that just isn't so. Aside from grieving him terribly every day, she's also dealing with some members of his family who have been quite nasty and if that wasn't enough she also has to consider selling her home for financial reasons.
A friend of my daughter's had surgery recently for a brain tumor and now has to go thru radiation and chemotherapy. She is only in her mid 20's and has a young daughter. And she has no medical insurance. I think she has charity care thru the hospital to cover some of the main treatments but the family is having a benefit to raise some money for things that may not be covered.
And my son just told me tonight that a couple of his friends are dealing with the deaths of siblings or friends because of drugs.
It's terrible to hear of so many who are facing such difficulty but I also believe that prayers, meditation, Reiki, love, etc. should be sent out because it can only help.

  37. Hi Ronnie,

    Hi there!
Yes, when you lose a loved one, it is like having the sky fall on you.
Everything that you have known is blown apart and yet, you still have to cope and keep on with the everyday things of life.

It can be the greatest challenge...
How to tie all that in with God? How to figure about all these deep questions??? I don't always know.

I do believe in God and I pray and think about things. I try and see the "bigger message" when things happen( though, sometimes things are so straightforward, thats just it).

I really do feel all the good that you are sending to everyone. I know that if you could, you would hug each of us that comes here. We do that virtually each time and that counts too!

Sending you love and good energy back!!

"...when you lose a loved one, it is like having the sky fall on you. Everything that you have known is blown apart and yet, you still have to cope and keep on with the everyday things of life."

Exactly, Barb. I remember after my father passed away and I was at red light in my car; watching some people playing tennis and thinking to myself, "OMG, my father just died, how can they be playing tennis?!?!"

"It can be the greatest challenge...
How to tie all that in with God? How to figure about all these deep questions??? I don't always know."

Me neither. However, I do know that pray/meditation does supply comfort to those in need because I've felt when others have done the same for me.

  41. You and I are on the same page with this one, Ron! Especially with this part: "And I have to tell you, this truly rips my heart out because I can’t bare to see anyone in pain. Whether it be physical, mental, or emotional."

I am a Quaker, because I feel as you do - I believe in 'something' out there, communicating with and between us on an 'energetic' level, somehow, and I do believe that prayer, good vibes, white light, whatever you want to call it, can reach out to people and make a difference. In a Quaker meeting it's possible to experience that without having to call it 'God', though many (if not most) do, of course. I don't attend much these days for various reasons, but I still have a Quaker soul.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks for a great post, Ron. I do believe there is an energy that connects people. And when it's good, it's great. On the other hand, we've all met someone who exudes negativity, and who loves to comment on bad news. It's almost as if they have their own force field around them. Those people, I try to stay away from.

Me too. It's all really the same because the 'intention' is the same....to help support those in need.

Being from Pennsylvania, I know much of the Quaker belief's. In fact, an aquaintance of mine teaches at a Quaker school and he RAVES about it. He says it's the best school he's ever worked at because they promote openness and equality.

  45. Absolutely lovely post, Ron! I think we could all use some compassion and positive energy these days. I'm still ruminating over doing a post about how so many people I come into contact with these days are yearning for more positive and less negative. It doesn't mean we all don't still need to vent and bitch but a lot of us want to keep the real mean spiritedness out of it. I find myself self editing in my head more these days before I write or speak. If it feels downright mean and nasty I try hard not to put it out into the ether. Doesn't help anyone.
Hope you are having a terrific weekend! Will be in touch.

  57. aw, i'm feeling all sad n depressed just by reading this post. like you, i had friends that are too experiencing the same thing. you're absolutely right when you said that knowing that it will happen eventually doesn't help in either way. in fact, it made it even hard to accept, having to be separate forever, as in physically. i'm not exactly a very holy person either, but like you, i believe in god, believe that such power exist. my mentor used to always remind me, to talk to him (or anyone/thing that you believe to be the higher power) everyday, every minute of your life, sharing it with him/it. let it be good times or bad times. by doing that, you connect yourself to him/it, n him/it in return will strengthen your faith, thus helping us through the most difficult times of our life. today, now, i shall share the connection with everyone else in this world, n believing that they will receive it.

  58. Good Morning Levian~

Isn't it something how recently it seems that we ALL know people who are experiencing the same thing? I also had many people I work with loose family members and friends last summer.

I so enjoyed how you shared this....

"to talk to him (or anyone/thing that you believe to be the higher power) everyday, every minute of your life, sharing it with him/it. let it be good times or bad times. by doing that, you connect yourself to him/it, n him/it in return will strengthen your faith,..."

That's EXACTLY how I feel too, Levian!

Just simply talk to him/it as if you would a close friend.

". today, now, i shall share the connection with everyone else in this world, n believing that they will receive it."

Thank you, my friend! And thank you for stopping by and sharing on this post.

    Have a wonderful Thursday!

    X
