Every year at this time, I enjoy sharing a Mother’s Day post celebrating all you wonderful moms out there.

However, this year I’ve decided to not only celebrate motherhood, but also womanhood.

As a man, I will never be able to fully understand what it’s like to be a woman.

Although, being someone who believes in reincarnation, I truly think I was a woman in several of my past lives, because there is a deep part of me that does understand what it’s like to be a woman.

I very often find myself supporting females in this male-dominated society.

It’s true.

It is a man’s world. And I don’t agree that it should be.

Allow me to call attention to something…..

If a male and female are hired to do the same job, then they are BOTH entitled to the EXACT same salary, regardless of whether or not the female is married and providing for a family.

If she is performing the same job equal to a man, then she deserves equal compensation and opportunities.

The. End.

Honestly? I think that certain men are intimidated by women, especially in business. They want a woman to be soft and feminine, but at the same time they want them to be strong and independent. But, if they express their strength and independence, it makes some men feel out of control.

Trust me, I grew up in an Italian family, therefore I know ALL ABOUT male and female roles. My mother was to be a homemaker and silent; never to voice her opinion. Quite often, my mothers opinions on business matters were very intuitive and right on, therefore my father would have been wise to listen to her.

And what I find really ironic about all this role playing, is that most wives are smart enough to know how to make the husband THINK he’s the one in charge.

*winking* Am I right, wives?

Next to every successful man, stands a successful woman.

I have always believed that women are the stronger gender. Both emotionally and physically. And if you don’t believe me, notice a man when he has a simple cold. Watch him act as if he’s at death’s door while the whole world comes to an end.

And then imagine a man having to go through 12 hours of hard labor while giving birth.

I. DON’T. THINK. SO.

And speaking of birth. That’s what I’m truly in awe of when it comes to being a woman.

It is a woman who carries life and gives birth.

There is something extra special about that.

I know it may sound as though I’m bashing my own gender, but I’m not. Because I sincerely believe that men are awesome too. I know many sensitive, genuinely self-confident, open and loving men in my life. Men, who also make tender fathers.

But I don’t think women receive the equality, praise, and respect they deserve.

So, today I would like to give a standing ovation to not only motherhood, but womanhood as well.

And even though I’m a man, and a man who’s partner preference is men, this world would be very boring to me if it weren’t for the presence of women.

In my opinion, not only do women add great beauty to this world. But also, tremendous strength, wisdom and power.

Thank you, ladies.

Happy Mother’s and Womanhood Day!

Have an awesome weekend everyone!

  1. Ron,

Excellent tribute to mothers and all the women of the world. I agree with you 100% that we men are the biggest babies when it comes to pain and sickness. And I am proof of that! LOL

My mom is still alive and doing well. The older I get, the smarter she gets. It took me a long time to not only recognize her intelligence, but her profound wisdom. I guess when you're young and think you know it all, you don't see clearly.

She lives in Florida. I ordered flowers that will be sent for Mother's Day, and I'll be calling her too.

    Nice post Ron.

  2. Hi Ronnie,
A very Happy Mother's day to all Moms and a big salute to all sisters!

I salute your Mommys. I can tell that they did a great job leaving you with their sensibilities and values.
You are awesome and I think that if I could hug you, I wouldn't hesitate a sec. Ok; raincheck until we get back to Philly(or, you get your tush over to Paris!

Thank you for thinking of women, today(and I think) everyday.

    Happy weekend, buddy ;) xoxo

  3. aw, i'm totally touched reading that! thanks for the acknowledgment, Ron, you are soooo sweet! hugs. i had been reading some psychological books since i entered college, it kinda fascinates me. a particular part about the male prides gave me a huge understanding - always make the guy feel that he's in charge, giving advice but not being bossy, etc. now that you mentioned, i'm reminded of it n realized it had helped me so much! especially in communicating with the male species. :)

  4. Well, thank you very much Ron!!! It's nice to be appreciated. I remember my first job out of college, finding out that the male college grads hired into the same training program were being paid more. I was fuming! And the company made such a big deal about not talking about your salary - I wonder why??? What an eye opener for this 22 year old.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. XO

  5. Thank you, Ron! You conveyed your thoughts so beautifully!
Hey, what's the saying... A gay man is a girl's best friend. I heard something like that before. And one reason I think it might be true is because you understand, love, and respect us. And do we ever appreciate that sincerity! Of course my hubby is sweet and genuine that way too, but many other men I've seen aren't quite like that alot of the time, and dammit, we need to be praised for the Goddesses we are! *wink*

This post brings to mind a few movie scenes...
in 'Working Girl' when she says 'I have a head for business and a bod for sin'! HA!
And in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', the mother says 'The man is the head, but the woman is the neck. And she can turn the head any way she wants.' Yes!

Thanks for your warm and wonderful words!
Have a great weekend, my neighbor and friend. xoxo

  8. Well thank goodness you DO like women otherwise we bloggers would be out of a job...grins.

'It is a man’s world. And I don’t agree that it should be'

Too right! Deep down though I don't think the two sexes will ever really get on in the business world. Oh, they may appear to on the surface, but I can tell when men are harbouring grudges against female counterparts.

'most wives are smart enough to know how to make the husband THINK he’s the one in charge'

Indeed! It's clever, don't you think? And it proves how powerful we are.

'notice a man when he has a simple cold'

Tell me about it. OMG one sneeze and you'd think my hubs was dying, and I've never seen anyone suffer so much over a little cut on a finger.

Thank you, Ron. I did enjoy having a moan. Hope your Mom enjoyed Mother's Day. I'm lucky I have two, one in the UK and the other in Oz. Have a peaceful weekend.

"I agree with you 100% that we men are the biggest babies when it comes to pain and sickness. And I am proof of that! LOL"

Tee, hee! Isn't that the truth?!

"My mom is still alive and doing well. The older I get, the smarter she gets. It took me a long time to not only recognize her intelligence, but her profound wisdom. I guess when you're young and think you know it all, you don't see clearly."

You said it, bud! So much of what my mother said to me when I was younger, has come true. It's like she had a crystal ball and could see into my future!

"She lives in Florida. I ordered flowers that will be sent for Mother's Day, and I'll be calling her too."

Aw....such a GREAT son you are! Hey, my mom lives in Florida too! Isn't it ironic how we're both from PA and our mother's live in Florida?

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing on this post, neighbor! Always FAB to see ya!

    Have a super weekend, bud!

  21. Okay-- Thank you. Truly and sincerely. What a kindly post. An honourable, respectful one.

I didn't think you were man bashing at all. But I don't see you as the type to generalize and come to biased conclusions. That's just not who you are.

Well.....'cept when it comes to Hello Kitty......

    LOLOL

    Thank you, sir.
I hope you get some mom time this weekend. At the very least, I hope the two of you get a chance to connect and let the other know what a difference each has made in the other's life.

  22. Although we celebrated our Mother's day in March, I love this post. Being a woman who doesn't have children. Mother's Day is always a bit of a slap in the face for me.

Mother's Day was always a huge thing at church. They would get all the mothers to stand and then give out chocolates or flowers, pray for them and generally boost the importance of motherhood, while I sat, alone except for unmarried youngsters, feeling totally left out of any respect for being a woman. This post puts it in perspective. Women have far more to offer the world than purely having babies.

I'm not one bit surprised that you recognise that.

Yes, we will be talking on Sunday. We usually talk once a week for TWO HOURS!!!! She and I have such a lot in common (being Libra's), and get lost in time talking to one another. She's such GRAND lady, awesome human being, and a faaaabulous mother!

  24. Hello Babs~

"This post puts it in perspective. Women have far more to offer the world than purely having babies."

Thank you. And that's exactly what I was trying to convey with this post. Whether or not a woman chooses to have children, they are still awesome and powerful women. I have a close friend in Florida, who she and her husband have chosen to not have children. However, they adore animals (having many) and care for them as IF they were their children. To me, being a parent can encompass many things.

Please know what a joy it's been getting to know you, Babs! You're an AWESOME lady, and someone who I'm proud and honored to know!

I also suspect that, in a past life, I was also a woman. I've probably been a woman more often than a man, actually. Why do I suspect this? Because I've got a sensitive side a mile wide.
