First, allow me to thank all of you who submitted photos for this post.
Once again, the turnout was faaaaaaaaaaaabulous!
As each email came in, I eagerly anticipated what I would find in the way of all creatures great and small.
And the really cool thing about it is that you each submitted such a wonderful variety of animals, which is what I was hoping for.
You have no idea how much fun I had putting this post together!
Today, I will be sharing the first half of this photo submission, and next week I’ll conclude with the second.
So, without further ado, allow me to present….All Creatures Great And Small.
Lights! Camera! Animals!
Barbara: "My favorite neighborhood cat. (S)he comes in our yard and greets me or my hubby. An absolute doll; a very cuddly and friendly kitty".
Jeanne: "Beemer"
Bijoux: "Woody: Our Backyard Pileated Woodpecker"
Jaffer: "This picture was taken by my brother from the car near Al-Shifa mountain just south of the city of Ta'if in Saudi Arabia. This man was earning his living by giving camel rides to visitors."
Susu: "Love Me Tender"
Valerie: "Maxie the Dog"
Babs: "This is a hedgehog that came wandering into our garden and let me get right up in its face to photograph him."
Herman: "During our last visit to the zoo we spotted this guy. Apparently, elephants like to rub their tusks against hard surfaces, and sometimes this damages them. It happened to this elephant. Veterinarians were forced to perform a pulpotomy, which is like a root canal for elephants, after which they covered the tusks with stainless-steel caps."
Have a picture perfect weekend everyone!

Aaw it was nice to see my Maxie again. I know you've not asked us to choose a favourite but I have to say that the one of the woodpecker was a fabulous shot. Looking forward to seeing the next batch. Have a Fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great selection of photos!
ReplyDeleteThose are some wonderful creatures. Can't believe Babs was able to get that close to the hedgehog!
ReplyDeleteRon,
ReplyDeleteI love this idea for a post! I just can't believe the variety of animals that were submitted. I honestly expected dogs and cats. Your readers are just as colorful as you!
Have a wonderful weekend, darlin'
XOXO
Loved them all and I can't believe that hedgehog let her get that close to take a picture. And who knew about elephants and their tusks? See? YOu are entertaining and educating the masses at the same time!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a FABULOUS weekend!
Good morning Akelamalu~
ReplyDeleteYes! Aren't they GREAT??? I was so hoping to have a diverse group of photos to share, and it ended up turning out like that. Can't wait to show the second half!
Thanks for stopping by, m'dear! Have a flawless weekend....X
Good morning Valerie~
ReplyDeleteOops! Sorry about the 'typo' dear lady!
MAXIE, not ROXIE! What the hell is wrong with me, can't I READ - HA!
"I know you've not asked us to choose a favourite but I have to say that the one of the woodpecker was a fabulous shot."
Yes, isn't it a faaaaaabulous shot? And I love that the photo was taken during my favorite season of the year....WINTER!!!!
Looking forward to sharing the next batch!
Thanks again for submitting your photo, Valerie! I ADORE those dogs -they have the sweetest face and personality. Such a lovable dog!

ReplyDeleteHey there Bijoux~
ReplyDeleteAren't they all wonderful???? Such a unique group!
" Can't believe Babs was able to get that close to the hedgehog!"
Isn't that UNBELIEVABLE??? I don't think I ever seen a hedgehog that close before. She's an amazing photographer!
Thanks so much for submitting your photo, my friend. I loved sharing it!
Have a SUPER weekend.....X
Good morning Diane~
ReplyDeleteThank you. Aren't the variety of animals terrific????? LOVE! LOVE! LOVE em'!
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, girl! Wishing you an AWESOME weekend!
XOXO
Bijoux's photo reminds me of that old adage, "How much would could a woodpecker peck if a woodpecker could peck wood?"
ReplyDeleteErr...well, something close to that, anyway.
Great shots, all of them. Looking forward to Part 2 next week.
Hey there Peg~
ReplyDelete" I can't believe that hedgehog let her get that close to take a picture. And who knew about elephants and their tusks?"
Isn't that UNBELIEVABLE??????? In the last photo post I had, Babs submitted a closeup of a cows nose - it was equally as unbelievable!
Yes, I found that interesting about elephants' tusks too! Who knew? It looks like he's wearing a silver crown on his tusk - HA!
Thanks so much for stopping by, dear friend! Have a fantabulous weekend!
X
Hiya SuziCate~
ReplyDeleteAren't they ALL great?????
"Woody...he sure has a pretty red head!"
Yes, isn't he faaaaaaaabulous? I love the contrast between his red head and his black and white body!
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, my friend. Have a gorgeous weekend!
X
Howdy Mark~
ReplyDelete"Bijoux's photo reminds me of that old adage, "How much would could a woodpecker peck if a woodpecker could peck wood?"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yes! It DOES remind you of that, doesn't it? Mark, I love your clever wit!
Aren't ALL the shots FANTABULOUS????? Can't wait to share Part 2 next week!
Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy! Have a great weekend!

Ooops, I didn't realise you hadn't typed 'Maxie' ... Oooh you must have thought I was being critical. Well, I wasn't. I just didn't notice. Hey, it's me who can't read...haha
ReplyDeleteOMG...too funny!
ReplyDeleteIt was VERY late when I posted this last night, and I must have been thinking of the movie, Chicago, and the character, Roxie Hart - HA!
X ya, dear lady!
My Aunt had a camel back ride in Egypt and I SO want to do that one day!
ReplyDeleteAt my mom and dad's it's SO quiet, all you hear is a Woodpecker every once in awhile. I can't wait to get my property in no-man's land so I can hear that every day rather than my neighbor's yappy dog (and I love dogs!).
I never knew elephants could get cosmetic dental work! ;-)
Such an awesome post, Ron. Not only can we view great pictures, but we also get an education!
Thank you!!
((you))
Have a great weekend!
Gooooood morning Pamela~
ReplyDelete"My Aunt had a camel back ride in Egypt and I SO want to do that one day!"
OMG....meeeee too! I love camels. And llamas too. They have the most precious faces!!!
"At my mom and dad's it's SO quiet, all you hear is a Woodpecker every once in awhile. I can't wait to get my property in no-man's land so I can hear that every day rather than my neighbor's yappy dog (and I love dogs!)."
Funny you mentioned that because when I was a kid and my family lived in the burbs, I remember hearing that same sound from a woodpecker outside my bedroom window.
Isn't that interesting about elephants? Who knew?
Thanks oodles for stopping by, my friend! Can't wait to share the second part next week!
Have a terrific weekend!
(( You ))

Ron, I was so anxiously awaiting this photo post because I love animals. Wow, such great photos! As others have shared, I can't believe Babs was able to get that shot of the hedgehog, and so close!
ReplyDeleteAnd very interesting to read about elephants.
Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend, Ron!
Hola Denise~
ReplyDeleteAnd I was so anxious to share this post too. So glad you enjoyed! Aren't ALL the photos freakin' faaaaaaabulous?
"As others have shared, I can't believe Babs was able to get that shot of the hedgehog, and so close!"
Me neither. UN-believable! I love the clarity of the quills she captured.
I too found that very interesting about elephants. Aren't elephants adorable creatures? They have the sweetest eyes.
Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a terrific weekend....X
Hi Ronnie,
ReplyDeleteThis is very fun! I enjoyed the variety of animals and oohing and aahing over each. Great shot , Babs. I have also had hedgehogs in our garden. I would often leave a saucer of milk for them. I also liked the huge woodpecker from Bijoux's garden.
I am also feeling sad about the Herman's elephant photo. It makes you think about zoo animals and their happiness...
I am looking forward to part two!
xox to ya, Ronnie.
Bonjour Barb~
ReplyDeleteThank you. I had a BLAST putting this post together. And thank YOU for submitting your photo! Such a stunning capture. The eyes are so quietly expressive!
"I am also feeling sad about the Herman's elephant photo. It makes you think about zoo animals and their happiness..."
Isn't that something? Who knew?
Can't wait to share part two next week! Have a maaaaavalous weekend, Barb!

Wow! What great post! Camels, dogs, cats, hedgehogs--I feel like I'm on Noah's Ark! I'm so glad you gave the spotlight to our animal friends, Ron. Great pictures, folks! I can't wait for the next installmant! Have a great weekend, buddy, and, keep them photos coming!
ReplyDelete...Oh Ron, you are so right, these ARE faaaaaaaaaaaabulous! :o)
ReplyDelete...My personal fav's are the first one, the Neighborhood Cat and the 6th one, Maxie the Dog. But seriously, they're all fantastic photos - great job everyone! ;o)
...I didn't enter because #1. I forgot to. And #2. I dunno if I have anything worth submitting anyway. *sigh*
...I love these and I can't wait for the next second submission next week. I love stuff like this. :o)
...Oh, and btw, love that you put links to two of my fav' charities, Free Kibble Kat & Free Kibble Dog - perfection! Way to go Ron!
...Hope all is well with your Mom too! "Hi Ron's Mom!" *waving* :o)
...Enjoy your weekend my friend!
...Blessings
(((You)))
these are all so great!
ReplyDeleteI love the close-ups, an animal's face tells us so much
What a great mixture of animal photos! I love them all!
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful blue eyes of the cat, the lovely red head of the woodpecker and the soulful look of the dog - all of them :)
I adore elephants and hate to see them suffer. I only hope that the problem with the tusks wasn't due to unhappiness. Maybe there is too much concrete around, in place of trees.
Can't wait to see part two!
Hey there Rob~
ReplyDeleteAw...thanks, buddy. Glad you enjoyed. Aren't everyone's photos AWESOME????
"Camels, dogs, cats, hedgehogs--I feel like I'm on Noah's Ark!'

"...Oh, and btw, love that you put links to two of my fav' charities, Free Kibble Kat & Free Kibble Dog - perfection! Way to go Ron!"
Thank YOU, because I found out about Free Kibble from one of your blog posts last year. I go there every single day and click. It's so much FUN!
Stay tuned next Friday, when I will be posting the second half.

"I adore elephants and hate to see them suffer. I only hope that the problem with the tusks wasn't due to unhappiness. Maybe there is too much concrete around, in place of trees."
I adore elephants too. And you know something? I never thought about them doing that because of unhappiness or the lack of trees. You might right about that. I think I'll google it this weekend and do some research to find out why.
Thanks so much for stopping by, Babs. And again, thank you for sharing your awesome photo!
Have a flawless weekend!

I love being part of these fun blog pic parties of yours, dear Ron! So glad you came back to comment! I freaked out when I realized the commenting was off. I donno what happened... For me blogging is "about interactivity" so if comments are off, there's no point, really.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I long to do something new... maybe blog more often and write more about real life. Ideas simmering...
The woodpecker picture was cool as was the "love me tender" one.
ReplyDeleteBonjour Susu~
ReplyDeleteAnd I love having your photos included. So thank YOU!
"So glad you came back to comment! I freaked out when I realized the commenting was off. I donno what happened... For me blogging is "about interactivity" so if comments are off, there's no point, really."
Yes, I've seen that happen on several of my WP blogging friends' blogs too. For some reason, the commenting link was automatically turned off. I agree, blogging is about interactivity, so if comments are off, there's no point. There have been many times when my own commenting system had a glitch, and yes, I freaked out too - HA!
Thanks so much for stopping by, beautiful lady. And thanks again for your photo submission. Loved sharing it!!!!!
Have a flawless weekend!
Ciao....X
Howdy Constant Complainer~
