Alert: This post contains talk about nudity and hard-ons. So if that offends you, you might want to come back on Friday, when I share about something more gentle and sweet-smelling, like a post on Snuggles fabric softener.

----------------------------------------

For as vocal and blunt as I am in talking about ‘private parts’ on this blog….I’m actually a very shy cocotte when it comes to my own nudity.

You’re talking to a man who’s pee-shy in a public restroom, let alone exposing myself at a nude beach.

I talk a good game, yet when it comes down to actually doing it myself….I’m chicken shit and two-faced.

Having lived in Florida, I’ve been to nude beaches several times, however never participated in going commando, which actually made me stand out more because I was the only one on the sand with my private parts covered.

I don’t particularly mind LOOKING at certain people in their birthday suits at a beach (especially with a pair of high powered binoculars), it’s just that I don’t want everyone looking at MINE.

I don’t want my jewels displayed in Tiffany’s window for the WHOLE world to see.

To me, my jewels are a private collection; only to be viewed by some.

On the other hand, I use to have a friend who felt completely the opposite. Anytime he had the opportunity to take his clothes off, he JUMPED at it. Whenever he and I would go to a pool party, he'd say, "Oh...do you think they'd mind if I took all my clothes off?" And I'd say, "Yes...so wait until they've had a few drinks first." He had absolutely NO inhibitions whatsoever. If it was legal to live his life NAKED, I swear to god, he would.

His jewels were open for AUCTION 24/7, with a no return policy.

And he even offered layaway.

Last week, a few of my friends and I got on the topic of nude beaches and how comfortable we felt in taking our clothes off in front of other people.

Most every single person said, “NO WAY!”

Yet, there was one guy who said, “YES WAY!”

And he explained to me that exposing yourself on a nude beach was not a ‘sexual thing.’ So as a guy, you don’t ever have to worry about getting a HARD-ON because it’s not about that. It’s more about the freedom of going au naturel.

I explained to him that it wasn’t my concern of getting a hard-on, but rather a concern of exposing my SOFT-ON.

This discussion got me thinking how many of us are coy about our nudity.

Is it something we’re taught in our childhood, or is it something we develop as adults; becoming shy about our bodies?

All I know is that for me, I won’t be peeling my clothes off in front of anyone except a ‘select few’ in the privacy of my own boudoir.

Oh wait, and also for you guys on the Internet…..

Note: I can’t thank you ALL enough for sharing your energy, prayers, and love within your comments, emails, and phone calls this past weekend. Your support at this time has been BEYOND appreciated by my mother, brother, and I. My mother is now home and extremely stable. I promise to keep you posted on her well-being.

It never ceases to amaze me how much tangible power there is, when people come together in the blogging community; sharing their support. Therefore, I believe that my mothers’ stability has had much to do with YOU.

*bowing my head*

Thank you.

You guys are the BEST…..X

  1. You should write a book Ron. You are positively hilarious!!! I completely agree with you...even as a woman! If they want to go to one of those nude beaches...let them...I'll be across the street at the beach where one can actually wear clothing! Have you seen the movie Wanderlust with Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd?? It is FABULOUS and hysterical! Loved it!! You should go!!

Hahahahahaha!!!! Oh yeah, I'm like you. In the right place I have no problem with people stripping off and showing all. I admit to a mild curiosity about what other people's hidden bits are like - and I don't mean just the sexual bits, but just the bits we don't normally see. Are other middle-aged women's bellies as flabby and dimpled as my own, for instance? But do I want anyone else checking out mine? NO WAY!!! So yeah, double standards, I know, but I never ask or encourage anyone to take their kit off, so does that let me off that particular hook? I dunno.

Yes, I think we're taught as children to be shy. You hear it all the time, mothers referring to their child's 'private', 'naughty' or 'dirty' parts and requesting that they don't touch themselves there in public. No wonder they are shy of exposing those parts in later life!

On a more serious note, I'm so glad to hear that your darling mother is stable and home. I do believe, again like you, that the power of prayer and positive thought (whether sent by religious people or by those who simply believe in 'alternative' energies) has a powerful effect. So one more request to the universe has been duly sent this morning from England!

And thank you so much for your own words and energy and hugs on my latest post. It's amazing how it can help to soothe the pain. xxx

  3. #1 - Thanks for the update on your mom, Ron. Been thining about you guys all weekend.

#2 - I can't imagine going to a nude beach.......probably because there would be so much I wouldn't WANT to see......I think very few naked bodies are all that attractive!!! In fact, just going to a pool on vacation, I'm disturbed by what some people WEAR! LOL! The funny thing to me is, I've never been ashamed of my body when it comes to sex and never been shy about removing my clothes, but put me in a female locker room and I'm running for the nearest curtain!

  4. I am so pleased to hear your mother is home and doing well Ron, I will continue to send positive thoughts and Reiki for as long as she needs it. x

I have gone topless (about 20 years ago) but I would never go completely naked in public. I know some people enjoy it, and that's fine, but I'm not one of them. :)

  5. Haha! Always fun to start a Monday with a laugh.

I've never been to a nude beach or had any desire to go. I guess for those who feel more free with less on, that's okay. I don't think I would be embarrassed or insulted if someone I knew wanted to sunbathe or walk around their house au naturel but that definitely won't be me. We don't even sleep in the nude around here. OMG, with 2 dogs in the bed, that could be scary!!!

As for whether it's a childhood thing or something that develops later ... hmm. I guess it could go either way. My parents were very private about most things. We had a pool for a few years but I don't remember either of them getting in it. When my father got much older, he would sometimes sit in his undershirt and boxers at the dining room table and do the crossword puzzle but that's about as naked as it got.
Even though me and hubby have always been very open with hugging, kisssing, and cuddling in front of the kids, we never walked around naked or dressed provocatively and didn't encourage them to either. And I would say that both of them today are somewhat shy in that respect.
I think that for me, it's my weight that bothers me. Being heavy much of my life has probably contributed to my inhibitions more so than just my parents not being into nudity.

    --------------
I'm soooo glad to hear that your Mom is home and doing well. Loving thoughts and Reiki will continue. xo

    Have a nice week.

  6. Hey, Ron, how's it going? Great post! Nudity and hard-ons are my two favorite subjects. I, too, have never had the nerve to put the family jewels on display. I prefer to keep 'em locked up in the tower! Hell, if you show 'em to everybody, they'll lose their aura. And I'm so glad your mom is home and stable! Please give her my love and I'll continue to pray for her. Take care, buddy!

    HAHAHAHHAHAHA! My sentiments EXACTLY!

No, I've not seen Wanderlust, but have heard of it. I love both Jennifer and Paul, so I bet it's faaaaaaaaabulous!!!

Aw....you're so welcome. And thank YOU for your thoughts. I spoke to my mother several times yesterday and she sounds really, really good. My brother said that she looks better too. I promise to keep you updated.

"..I think very few naked bodies are all that attractive!!! In fact, just going to a pool on vacation, I'm disturbed by what some people WEAR! LOL!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA! Ditto, my friend......Ditto! And you should see what some people even wear during the summer months here in the city - OY VEY!

"The funny thing to me is, I've never been ashamed of my body when it comes to sex and never been shy about removing my clothes, but put me in a female locker room and I'm running for the nearest curtain!"

Bwhahahhahahahaha! OMG....I'm the SAME WAY!!!! Perhaps it has something to do with being compared to our own gender.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, Bijoux! Have a super Monday and week!

  12. Gooooooooood morning Mary~

So glad you had giggle, my friend. I was SO ready to share some humor after this loooooong and stressful week.

"I don't think I would be embarrassed or insulted if someone I knew wanted to sunbathe or walk around their house au naturel but that definitely won't be me."

Me neither, it just WON'T be me - HA!

"We don't even sleep in the nude around here. OMG, with 2 dogs in the bed, that could be scary!!!"

    Bwhahhahahhahahahahahaha! OMG...that made me HOWL!

And I too don't sleep in the nude. I have to have something ON when I sleep, which is why I love the cooler months.

"As for whether it's a childhood thing or something that develops later ... hmm. I guess it could go either way. My parents were very private about most things."

Yes, I think you're right, I guess it could go either way. My parents were very private too.

"I think that for me, it's my weight that bothers me. Being heavy much of my life has probably contributed to my inhibitions more so than just my parents not being into nudity."

Isn't it ironic, because I'm slim, yet I still feel inhibited to take my clothes off at a nude beach. The friend that I referred to in this post (from Florida) is a pretty hefty guy, yet it never bothered him to take his clothes off in front of other people. I wish I had HIS confidence!

"I'm soooo glad to hear that your Mom is home and doing well. Loving thoughts and Reiki will continue."

    ((((( You ))))))

Thank you soooooooooooooo much, Mary! You have no idea how much it's helping my mother. I told her that all my blogging friends are sending good energy to her and also praying, and she was so TOUCHED. Her doctor is AMAZED at how well she is responding to her treatment.

I've done a bunch of online research on her particular cancer, and read that MANY people continue to live quality lives for MANY years. She's feisty, so I'm hoping that gets her through.

Always so wonderful to see you. Thanks for stopping by this morning. Have a super Monday and week!

  13. Hi Ronnie,

First off a big YAY for your Mom being in her home sweet home. I am sure that she feels more comfy and happy than in a hospital room!

I guess most of us here at Vent are in the "Don't dare" group. Me too... Wouldn't do it... I could barely share the same shower with other girls in PE class( remember the shower?) Arrrggghh!!
I say if peeps can go nude on special beaches, it's your choice.
To each his/her own. But, how funny is it that everyone that don't does look (or fantasizes of peeking). Human nature can be weird.

There is something to be said for keeping some private things private. That is how I function; your friend in FL was probably on the beat of a different drum. OK; whatever...

Do have a great Monday and enjoy the day!

  14. Nudity ... never. Not for me, at least, others can do what they like so long as it doesn't involve me. And yet I am really quite broad-minded. I think - for some of us - the changing body is a put off and something we feel must remain hidden. I have often admired the apparent freedom felt by overweight people 'cause I could never feel such freedom even if I was overweight. But there you go, every dog must have his day, as they say; heehee if only I was a dog.

I am pleased your Mom is stable. Please God she stays that way for a long, long time. I will continue to send positive vibes her way.

I agree. I think much of it has to do with what we're taught as children. And another part might be as we get older, we start comparing our bodies to unrealistic images in magazines, and other people.

"I'm so glad to hear that your darling mother is stable and home."

Thank you, my friend. And I soooooooo agree....whether it be prayer, energy, positive thoughts, or whatever....it ALL has a powerful effect.

    Well, that was awkward...

Voyeuristic tendencies aside, my main concern with going to a nude beach would be the sand. That stuff would get deep inside crevices that have never been explored, and all the hot showers in the world wouldn't wash you free of the grit.

I never saw my parents naked, so I guess it stems from upbringing. I don't really know. My mother was a big lady, yet she had no problems with wearing a swimsuit on the beach. She was (as far as I know) very happy in her own body. Maybe because my father always complimented her and made her feel good about herself. I wish I felt as good about my body as my mum did about hers. Either way I would never go nude in public!

Amen! That's one of the things I HATED about taking gym class in high school - the communal showers - UGH! And my high school had a swimming pool, so before we went swimming, we all had to stand in line NAKED; as our teaching handed us our bathing suits - ewwwwwwwwww!

  35. What a hilarious post! I giggled the whole way through! And then your comment section gave me more laughs! What a great bunch of people—and so funny!

Seems I’m like most others, I have no desire to run around nude; I don’t want anyone ogling me nor do I want to ogle anyone else. Personally, I think we look kinda weird, ya know?

It may have something to do with upbringing but it could go either way. Parents could be open and the kids could not like that so go the other way and be modest or the parents could be very private and the kids not like that and then be very open. Or switch them both around. I think it would depend on the individual and how he/she interpreted it.

Good post, Ron, a much needed laugh, let me tell you!

I’m glad your mom is home. That must be such a relief for you! And for her. As Dorothy said, “There’s no place like home”!

    ((you))

  36. Best lines ever: "His jewels were open for AUCTION 24/7, with a no return policy. And he even offered layaway." Oh, Ron, that made me laugh. I would be like you, a non-willing participant in the nude beach thing. My husband, on the other hand, is like your friend who can't wait to rip everything off. He would be naked all the time if it were legal. He never wears more than shorts in the house, even in winter. He's a freak, really.

p.s. You remember JD of I Do Things goes to nude beaches, right? She and her husband have been going to them for years. I've known her now for 4.5 years and I still don't understand how anyone has the guts to do it!

  37. Goooood morning Pamela~

"And then your comment section gave me more laughs! What a great bunch of people—and so funny!"

HA! For me, the BEST part of a post are the comments - the feedback. Yes, what a GREAT bunch of people, and thank YOU for being one of them!

"Seems I’m like most others, I have no desire to run around nude; I don’t want anyone ogling me nor do I want to ogle anyone else. Personally, I think we look kinda weird, ya know?"

I totally agree! I think we ALL look so much better IN clothes than out. Clothing has a way of actually making us look sexier than total nudity.

"Parents could be open and the kids could not like that so go the other way and be modest or the parents could be very private and the kids not like that and then be very open. Or switch them both around."

I think you're right....it all depends on the individual and how he/she interpreted it.

So glad you had a giggle, dear friend. I was SO ready to share some HUMOR.

"I’m glad your mom is home. That must be such a relief for you! And for her. As Dorothy said, “There’s no place like home”!

    (((((( You ))))))

Thank you. And yes, not only a relief for my brother an I, but also for my mother. She hated being in the hospital (which I would I too), but now that she's home, she's feeling both emotionally and physically strong and well. I spoke to her last night, and she sounded AMAZING!

I can't thank you enough for your support, care, prayers, hugs, energy, and email. Bless you, Pamela!

    Have a faaaaaaaaabulous week!

    X ya!

  38. Hey there Kathy~

Tee, hee! Glad you had a giggle, my friend! I just couldn't resist sharing that!

" My husband, on the other hand, is like your friend who can't wait to rip everything off. He would be naked all the time if it were legal. He never wears more than shorts in the house, even in winter. He's a freak, really."

OMG...isn't it funny how people can feel so differently about nudity? Your husband and my friend should start their own NUDEST colony, called, "Free to Be, You and Me!"

    Bwhahahahahahahhahahaha!

"You remember JD of I Do Things goes to nude beaches, right? She and her husband have been going to them for years. I've known her now for 4.5 years and I still don't understand how anyone has the guts to do it!"

There is no way in HELL I could do that. No way!!!!!!!

Thanks a BUNCH for stopping by, girl! Have a faaaaaaaabulous week!

P.S. Holy cow, can you believe the warm weather we're having? I swear to god it feels like SUMMER already :(

  39. Ron, this post had me laughing until my sides ached. Hilarious!

But I'm with you, there is no way I could ever take my clothes off at a nude beach. I don't even like trying on clothes in a store dressing room because I keep thinking that people can see me!

So glad to hear your mother is now home and doing well, you must be so happy. Sending much prayers.

    Have a great week, Ron.

  40. Hola Miss Denise~

So glad you had a laugh. I was sooooooooo ready to share some HUMOR.

"I don't even like trying on clothes in a store dressing room because I keep thinking that people can see me!"

Bwhahahahahahahaha! OMG, that is freakin' hysterical because I think the SAME THING sometimes, when I'm in a store dressing room. Like someone might be watching me take off my clothes through a hidden camera!!!!

"So glad to hear your mother is now home and doing well, you must be so happy. Sending much prayers."

Aw...thanks, girl. My mother is doing amazingly well. Her spirits seem high. and physically she is doing a MILLION times better.

I can't thank you enough for your prayers, thoughts, and concern.

  43. Ahem, well I have never been to a nude beach before (hmm, wait, there was a few topless beaches in Europe, that I shed my top on - Face Down).

Ok, so perhaps I will start this another way ;) I am pretty comfortable in my skin. I prefer to sleep a la buff and my kids are regular rude nudes in our yard. Or friend's yards for that matter. I am sure my neighbours have all spied me in my altogethers, as I have been known to wander around in the am without much more than a lack of coffee haze on. But a full-on nude beach would be an interesting thing.

I might have to try it some time. I will be certain to keep you posted if I do dearie! ;)

Have a good week. Glad your Mum is home & healing a bit.

  44. First I want to say I am sorry I missed your last post and want you to know I am here for you in any way I can be. If you need someone to talk to I am always available and can shoot you my email address if you would like. As for this post... I have to agree. I cant see myself ever feeling comfortable at a nude beach especially if I had to participate. For me there are some things that should be shared with only that special someone and my nude body is definitely one of those things! Love the picture btw!!

  45. Good morning Shae~

Thank you for your sweet and touching concern. All of this happened so fast last week, that I posted my last post last minute because it didn't look at all good for my mother because she was in such bad shape. But blessedly, she has responded very well to her treatment and is doing extremely well. I spoke to her last night and she sounds stronger and stronger each time we speak. Her doctor is very hopeful and positive.

"I cant see myself ever feeling comfortable at a nude beach especially if I had to participate. For me there are some things that should be shared with only that special someone and my nude body is definitely one of those things!"

HA! Couldn't agree with you more!

I found that banana photo online and then photo shopped it with the animation. Glad you liked.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Hope you're enjoying a faaaaabulous week!

"Ahem, well I have never been to a nude beach before (hmm, wait, there was a few topless beaches in Europe, that I shed my top on - Face Down)."

You GO, girl!!!!! I do know that many European countries are much more open, free, and comfortable with themselves when it comes to nude beaches and such. I lived in Amsterdam for a summer and talk about FREEDOM!

" I am sure my neighbours have all spied me in my altogethers, as I have been known to wander around in the am without much more than a lack of coffee haze on. "

Bwhahahahhahahaha! OMG, you CRACK ME UP!!!

Hey, I think it's awesome that you're comfortable in your own skin. I wish I was!

"Glad your Mum is home & healing a bit."

Thank you, my friend. And thank you for your good thoughts, prayers, energy, and concern last week. It helped us ALL tremendously!

  47. I'm disgusted with this weather. I know people would hate me for saying it, but i'm looking forward to 60 degrees this weekend (even if it rains, I don't care!) Supposed to be 80 today. Where the hell is spring?!?!?!?!

No, I am SO with you, girl! This weather SUCKS! It's like we went from Fall (2011) directly to Summer (2012).

I'm sitting here (practically NAKED) with the windows open, my ceiling fan on; sweating to death - UGH!

I'm so looking forward to next Christmas - HA!

Have a faaaaaabulous day, neighbor! Stay cool.

  49. I'm so body shy. I think we're either totally comfortable with our bodies and exposing them or we're not. I guess I'm not.
