My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
I keep saying to myself, “I can’t believe I’m actually in Florida. I can’t believe I’m actually in Florida.”
It’s odd being here after having moved away 11 years ago because I thought I would feel more like a tourist rather than a previous Floridian. But after only the second day, I felt myself slipping into the familiar laidback and casual lifestyle that Florida invokes.
I’m doing exactly what I was hoping to do on this vacation, taking one day at a time and just hanging out.
On Tuesday, my brother Tom drove me back to our hometown, Boca Raton, where I had flashbacks of what it was like growing up there in the 70’s.
Here’s a photo of the home in which Tom and I grew up. You have no idea how many wonderful memories came back to me when I saw it.
This is the high school I graduated from in 1974.
A photograph of my high school theater. I performed in several of the productions here before I graduated, and then moved to NYC to pursue a professional acting career.
This is the beach in Boca Raton where I use to hang out with my high school friends every weekend, slathering on baby oil and iodine; baking in the sun for SIX hours.
Boca Raton is notorious for having some of the most beautiful beachfront properties. Here are a few photos of various homes and condominiums.
My mother and brother currently live in a condo. Here is a photo collage I created of one of the pool areas at which I actually SUNNED myself this week. Yes, you heard me right…..SUNNED myself! But I swear, I only allowed the sun to touch my skin for one hour a day so that I would get just a tiny bit of color. Yet it’s ironic because my pale skin develops a tan VERY fast. Must be that “Italian” in me!
Wednesday night, my mother, brother and I went out to dinner with one of my mothers’ dear friends who took several photos of us.
This is my favorite image of the three of us together at last!
Hope you ladies and gents had a wonderful week. Thank you all for your comments on my previous post, I shared them with my family.
I can’t believe I’ve been here almost a week. Time is flying! I will be posting more photos in the upcoming week!
