Today I thought I’d share some photos I took while in Florida.

Gosh, I can hardly believe I’ve been back a whole TWO WEEKS?!?

I took so many photos that there’s no way I can share them all, so I tried to narrow them down to some of my favorites; hoping you’ll get a feel of what my vacation was like.

Please enjoy…

I ate a lot of great food while I was in Florida. Here’s a photo of my mother and two of her close girlfriends; out having lunch. Actually, my brother Tom was there too, but he’s the one holding the camera taking the photograph – thanks, Tom! And did you notice the TALL male server in the white shirt, standing between my mother and her girlfriend in the background? He was one of the best servers EVER. But wait, not only was he excellent at his job, he was also 6’ 5” and beyond handsome. When he asks us if we wanted to order any desert after lunch, I silently said, “Yeah…..YOU a’ la mode!”

Desert – orange sherbet with fresh fruit, whipped cream, a mint leaf and a cookie. TO DIE FOR!

This is Cosmo (or Cozzy). He’s the most adorable, sweet and affectionate little canine, but VERY protective over my mother. If you go anywhere NEAR her bed when she’s sitting on it, he suddenly becomes Cujo. He will….BARK! GROWL! BARK! GROWL! Which translates into: “If you harm her, I’ll CUT you!!”

I captured this rainbow through the living room window, just after it rained one morning.

I took this shot from inside one of my mother’s girlfriend’s house – it’s literally a small mansion. Her girlfriend is the most down to earth and modest person you could ever meet. She supported my mother tremendously when she was diagnosed with cancer back in March. Lovely, lovely lady, she is.

I don’t know exactly what this bird is (Egret?), but I took its picture one afternoon when my brother and I drove out to a wildlife sanctuary.

View of the pool at another one of my mother’s girlfriend’s home/condo along the beach.

The last night I was in Florida, my mother, brother and I went out to dinner at a faaaaaabulous restaurant in Jupiter Beach, called Jetty’s. It’s located along the intercostal waterway.

It was getting ready to storm that night, but the sky looked AMAZING!

Ominous storm clouds rolling in

Thanks so much for taking this mini tour of the Sunshine State.

Have a grrreat Monday, peeps!

  1. Ron, that waiter probably thought you were some player, surrounded by all those beautiful women!

Great capture of the rainbow and I can't believe how blue that bird is! I like sherbet more than ice cream.....yummy! Glad to see more photos of paradise on a Monday morning. Xo

I spotted him straight away. You know what? I would have said the same as you.... whaaaaaaa.

'Desert – orange sherbet with fresh fruit, whipped cream, a mint leaf and a cookie. TO DIE FOR!'

    I believe you!

Wonderful pictures, Ron, thank you so much for sharing. Especially nice are the ones with your mother. She looks amazing. I can't believe how well she has recovered.

Wishing you a happy week x

  3. Oh what lovely photos Ron! I love the one of the dock in the evening. Your Mother is so beautiful and your brother so handsome. You, of course, are just wonderful. x

  4. Great photos, Ron! I feel like running away to Florida right now! And thanks for posting pictures of your mom--a lovely lady who has a wonderful son. I'm also glad to see that you're always on the prowl--"YOU a’ la mode!”--When it comes to horndogs, you are the leader of the pack!! Have a great week, buddy, and don't ever skip dessert!

  6. That dessert looks to die for!!

Err...the one in the dish...not the server. I'll let you have him, Ron.

Thanks for posting these pics and sharing your journey with us. Florida is physically the farthest state you can possibly get from Washington, so it almost seems like a mythical land full of weird creatures with leathery skinned and feathers.

    And that's just the retirees...

  7. Hey there Bijoux~

"that waiter probably thought you were some player, surrounded by all those beautiful women!"

Bwhahahahahaha! OMG....I never thought of that, but you're probably right!!!

Isn't that bird the most unusual color? Egrets are normally white, so I'm not quite sure WHAT kind of bird it is.

    The sherbet was faaaaaaabulous!

Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a terrific week!

"I spotted him straight away. You know what? I would have said the same as you.... whaaaaaaa."

Bwhahhahahahhahahaha! You GO, girl! When he first walked up to our table and introduced himself as our sever, we all (except for my brother) went....WOW...he's a tall drink of water, isn't he??? And not only was he handsome, he was also very patient, attentive, and efficient.

    The orange sherbet was YUM-MY!

Thank you, my mother truly does look amazing for all she went through these past months. What a miracle that was!

Have a wonderful week, dear lady. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for your kind words, buddy. I think you (being a warm weather person) would love visiting Florida.

OMG...your comment cracked me the hell up!!!

    And that's just the retirees..."

    Bwhahahahahahahhha!

But it's true, Florida is so completely different than other places. As I shared, I loved my time living there but I'm happy to be back in the northeast again. It feels like home.

Have a faaaaaaaabulous week, buddy. And thanks for stopping by!

    X to you and Tara!

  13. All wonderful photos, but love that last one the most! :)
Mmm... sherbert. Gosh, I can't remember the last time I had some. That dessert looks so yummy.
And sweet Cosmo turning into Cujo to protect you mom... how precious!
Our dogs were laying on the bed with me the night Ron got back from Georgia. He got thru the living and dining rooms without them hearing him but about 5 ft. from the bedroom door they both flew into the little hallway and started growling. He said, 'it's me, guys!' and they calmed down. LOL
Have a fabulous week, neighbor! Atleast it won't be insanely hot this week.

  14. Hi Ronnie,
I VERY MUCH enjoyed this preview from FLA(CLAP-CLAP!!).
    Very nice selections!
Not only does your Mom look wonderful, so do her girlfriends! What an attractive group of women.
OK; you flashed on the waiter :). Maybe you should have slipped him your contact number... Well, the dude has had his minute of glory thanks to this blog.

Your scenes each have a special beauty; a delicious dessert, a rainbow or the twilight, the simple beauty of flowers on a piano or a fluffy critter(looking only!). The feeling comes in loud and clear on all.

Thanks for sharing, dear. Have a great Monday.

"Not only does your Mom look wonderful, so do her girlfriends! What an attractive group of women."

I know, I was so proud to spend time with these attractive ladies. The two women you see in these photos have been so wonderful to my mother these past four months. They have truly been GREAT friends; supporting her in so many ways.

"OK; you flashed on the waiter :). Maybe you should have slipped him your contact number... Well, the dude has had his minute of glory thanks to this blog."

Bwhahahahahhhahaah! Damn you're right, I should have! Oh but I don't think it would have done much good because he's straight. But it was FUN looking!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet words, my friend.

    Have a fantastic week!

    Aw...thank you, my friend :)

Yes, it had been ages since I had sherbet myself, so it was such a treat!

"And sweet Cosmo turning into Cujo to protect you mom... how precious!"

OMG, he's soooooooo cute because he truly is such a sweet, affectionate, loving and sensitive doggie. But heaven FORBID you go near my mother unannounced and he literally turns into CUJO!!!

And I'm surprised he remembered me from 11 years ago!?!

"He got thru the living and dining rooms without them hearing him but about 5 ft. from the bedroom door they both flew into the little hallway and started growling. He said, 'it's me, guys!' and they calmed down. "

Isn't it something how protective dogs are?

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, neighbor! Have a wonderful week! And yes, THANK GOD it's going to be a cooler one because last week just about did me in :(

  17. Super photos, Ron! I enjoyed them all but the ones of the stormy sky are so beautiful. Loved your commentary on the waiter, that was hilarious. I have agree, he looks foxy! Wow...6' 5"?

Great photos of you, your mother, and brother. Your mom looks so good! Cosmo is so cute.

Thanks for sharing your vacation with us. Really enjoyed.

    Have a wonderful week, Ron.

  18. Hola Denise~

Thanks, girl. There is something about a stormy sky that I find beautiful too.

Yes, can you believe he was 6' 5"?!?!? One of the ladies at our table just came out and asked him because they were dying to know! He also said that he use to play football.

I was truly amazed at how wonderful my mother looked when I first saw her because of all she went through. She's as feisty and vibrant as she always was! Isn't Cosmo a little doll?

Thanks so much for stopping. Have an awesome week!

  19. ....k...... I'm tearful over here.

Not so much cuz of anything 'cept there's a mom.......and she's there and you're here and that bit's hard, 'specially given the circumstances that prompted the trip home--which I'm beyond glad that you made. But it's hard, even though it's good.

I'm so grateful you shared the photos--the mom looks like she's surviving the storm quite well. And she's truly graced to be surrounded by such loving friends--and such a loving family..... I know that makes a difference in the healing. And I know how much attitude has to do with it all........ She didn't have to weather those storms alone and I'm so grateful for that.

    The photos--gorgeous.....awesome and just.....emotion packed.
Or maybe that's just me--which I highly doubt.
Storms, rainbows--beacons of hope standing strong.
    Yup--good choice of photos!

    Including the sherbet.

LOL Buncha fruits lookin' WAY awesome! ;-)

    Hiya Mel~

Thank you so much for your caring, sensitive, and loving words, dear lady.

    (((( You ))))

"And she's truly graced to be surrounded by such loving friends--and such a loving family..... I know that makes a difference in the healing. And I know how much attitude has to do with it all........ She didn't have to weather those storms alone and I'm so grateful for that."

And I think that's WHY she did so good with her diagnosis and treatment. Most of it had to to do with her positive attitude, and another part had to do with all the support, love, energy and prayers from family and friends. And also from all the energy and prayers that all you guys and gals shared with her on this blog. And it's so incredible, because she told me several times on the phone that she could actually FEEL all the 'good energy' coming from you all.

    "The photos--gorgeous.....awesome and just.....emotion packed.
Or maybe that's just me--which I highly doubt.
Storms, rainbows--beacons of hope standing strong.
    Yup--good choice of photos!"

Ya know, I never thought of these photos as representing the things you just shared, but you're so right! So thank you for pointing that out to me! Perhaps on some deep level, these images were depicting the 'inner journey' that my mother and family have gone through!

Thanks again for stopping by and sharing you wonderful insight and support. Muchly appreciated!

Hope you had a FAB Monday! Enjoy your week!

  23. fabulous collection! I don't know if it's all the water, but something about the sky and clouds and light just adds so much drama to all your outdooor pictures. What a cute little rascal :) Thanks so much for sharing these Ron, they're absolutely wonderful!

Lovely photos and memories made for you.

*Her girlfriend is the most down to earth and modest person you could ever meet.*

We once went to Saint Tropez and to the beautiful, mountain home of Freddie Laker's wife (Laker Airways). What a down to earth lady she was too! We laughed and giggled together the whole time! Sadly, I lost most of the photos of that trip through a hard drive crash.

I LOVE that white baby grand piano! I always wanted one...in white! I don't even know how to play, but figured when I got it I would take lessons. lol.

Your mom is so pretty! Her hair style is very chic. She's a classy lady, I can tell.

  32. Hey there Shae~

Aw...thank you, girl. Yes, I had wonderful time!

The camera I use is a Nikon CoolPix L22, it's just a simple point and shoot. It's a really great camera, but the only thing I wish it was better at is taking nighttime shots because I don't like using the flash, which causes a glare. But if I don't use the flash, the expose is longer, which often causes a blur.

I also use PicMonkey to edit my photos. It's a free online editor, which is faaaaaaaabulous!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a super week!

"Is orange sherbet what we call 'sorbet'? I adore sorbet!"

Yes, they're almost exactly the same thing, except sorbet has no dairy products in it where as, sherbet does. But they both have more of an 'icy' consistency, rather than ice cream which is more milky.

"We once went to Saint Tropez and to the beautiful, mountain home of Freddie Laker's wife (Laker Airways). What a down to earth lady she was too!"

    Wow...Saint Tropez!!!

Yes it is, isn't it? You (being a dog lover) would LOVE Cosmo because he's such cutie pie. And I was amazed at how he actually remembered me because I hadn't seen him in 11 years!?!?

Do you know that I took piano lessons for YEARS as a kid, but cannot remember how to play it now? I really should have kept up with the lessons because it would have come in handy when I was still acting and doing musicals.

I love the picture with the rainbow, the landscape looks very nice. The picture taken from your mom's girlfriend's house is great as well. It reflects the beautiful heart of the house owner.
It was a great holiday indeed!
