As most of you guys and gals already know….I love all things GOTH.

There is something so utterly grand and beautifully alluring about the style and time period.

For me, Goth also contains a bit of wonderful eeriness, which is why I'm also attracted to all things VAMPIRE.

My full name is really Count Ronald Dracula Carnavil.

"I vant to bite your neck!"

Over the past three weeks, I’ve taken some photos around town that remind me of Gothic architecture.

I purposely edited these photographs to enhance the mood of the period.

This going to be a post in which I don’t explain anything about the photos, because I just want you to scroll down and simply walk inside each image and FEEL them.

Please enjoy….

  1. Cracking pictures, Count.

No.1 is fabulous, it seems to be reaching right into heaven.
No.4 has an e-e-r-i-e feel to it.
    No.7 is delightful in blue,
and I think No.5. would help a story along.

I love this kind of architecture nut didn't know it was Goth. Ignorance is bliss, so they say, but it sure puts me to shame at times. We had a spell here where the youngsters dressed in Goth outfits, they were spooky. In fact, many of them were attacked by, shall we say, normal people. Enjoyable post, Ron. Hope you're heading into a perfect week.

  3. Awesome photos, Count Ronny! You can count me as one of your biggest fans. These images are so eerie, so moody, it's like they were taken in another century. You have a great eye and an excellent visual style. Thanks so much for posting these photos. Have a great holiday, buddy, and beware the sunlight!

  4. Good morning Valerie~

"I love this kind of architecture nut didn't know it was Goth."

A few of these photos are probably not technically Goth, but they reminded somehow of the style. I edited them so that they would FEEL more like it.

"and I think No.5. would help a story along."

OMG...you're right, it does look like an image leading to a story. Good eye you have!

"We had a spell here where the youngsters dressed in Goth outfits, they were spooky. In fact, many of them were attacked by, shall we say, normal people."

Yes, we have that here too. There are a few Goth nightclubs in Philly. I kinda enjoy seeing them walk around the city in their Goth attire at night. I swear, if I were younger, I'd probably be one of them - HAHAHAHAHA!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, dear lady. Have a wonderful week!

Shit, you just gave me a great idea!!!! A Goth calendar!

Thank you for your supportive words, dear lady. YOU give me so much inspiration through your own photographs to try new things.

That's exactly what I was trying to do, so thank you for picking up on that. I wanted to create images that appeared vintage.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, buddy. Have a great holiday and week! It's cloudy and rainy hear today, so it really FEELS Goth - HA!

  9. I had no idea Philly had such stunning Gothitecture. Very cool captures, as always!

I'm wondering if you watch True Blood given your propensity for all things vampire. I got into it the first two seasons but then lost interest. It definitely had its moments, though. (Most of them relying heavily on SEX).

On second thought, why'd I give it up...?!

  10. Howdy Mark~

Thank you, sir. Yes, that's one of the things I truly enjoy about Philly, its diversity in architecture. It's stunning!

"I'm wondering if you watch True Blood given your propensity for all things vampire."

Yes, I did watch True Blood (online) and enjoyed it. But it's as you shared....most of them relied heavily on SEX. OMG...and I couldn't believe how graphic it was.

I think my favorite vampire movies are the "Dracula" movie with Frank Langella and also the Bram Stoker version with Gary Oldman.

"On second thought, why'd I give it up...?!"

Bwhahahahahahahaha! Mark, you crack me the hell up!

Thanks for stopping by, buddy. Have a great Labor Day and week!

    X to you and Tara!

  11. Count Ron, I love Goth AND Vampires too!

Picture #2 looks like it has two chalices etched in those front windows!

Picture #5 reminds me of stairs to a Gothic Castle and #6 of a fountain in a Gothic Castle’s garden!

All of the pictures are fantastic, very “Goth”! I would imagine many if not most are near to you but your photo editing made them very Vampir-ish!

You are a great photographer. Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed these photos!

I hope your holiday weekend was superb!

"Count Ron, I love Goth AND Vampires too!"

You too? Aren't vampires fantabulous? I kinda find them SEXY too. I'm hoping that one eventually stops by my apartment building soon, and bites me!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

"Picture #2 looks like it has two chalices etched in those front windows!"

Yes, I think they are two chalices. I didn't even notice that myself, so thank you for pointing them out.

"Picture #5 reminds me of stairs to a Gothic Castle"

Meeeeeeee too! Like something out of the Bram Stoker's version of Dracula. I added the touch of green to some of the ferns to give the image a mysterious feeling.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, my friend. And thank you for your supportive and encouraging words.

  15. Hello my fellow-Gothic loving Nitebyrd!

"The first one is incredible! Looking at it, I can hear organ music!"

The first image is The Masonic Temple which is directly across the street from City Hall. It always reminds me of a big old Catholic Cathedral in Europe.

"They put me in a Halloween mood!"

    Yaaaaaaaaaay....HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Oh my god, Ron, these photos are super cool! I was a huge fan of True Blood when it first came on because I adore vampires. I'm a big time Gother.

All these images are beautiful, but I think I my favorite one is the first. It gave me chills because it's so perfectly Goth.

Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed. Happy Labor Day, Ron.

  18. Oooh, my word. Such beeaaautiful Gothic images, and so nicely enhanced!!

Ron you would ADORE Italy, especially the little hill towns. I would LOVE to see your face when you arrived in San Gimigniano, which is full of towers and dark, gothic corners and has a museum of TORTURE! It has a long history of internal warfare between families (who kept building higher and higher towers to compete with each other) betrayal, murder and all that other gothic stuff. Oh, and you should go to Volterra where part of the New Moon (Twilight) vampire series is set.

  20. Wow...I wanna do some further investigation of that Witherspoon Building--there are people coming out of the bricks! Yikes!! (very cool in the effects......and JUST in time for Halloween, I might add.)

Actually, I'm a fan of older architecture. Not that some of the newer stuff isn't interesting--but the older stuff somehow seems to have more character. And I love the details and the stories of how they came to be.

The churches, spires and towers have always gotten my attention. Sometimes I'm too busy exploring to snap the shutter.....which seems impossible....LOL.....but it's true.

Thanks for the feast this morning. I ohhhhh-ed and ahhhhhh-ed with my coffee.
Definitely worthy of the second look this afternoon!

Me too. And I shared with Mark, I use to watch True Blood and loved it. I also read a couple of the Anne Rice books. Faaaaabulous!

" but I think I my favorite one is the first."

Thank you. That's one of my own personal favs too. That one and the last one because it looks like the entrance to where Dracula keeps his coffin - HA!

HA! You're right just in time for HALLOWEENIE!!!! That Witherspoon Building is located down a very narrow street (Juniper). I pass it almost everyday when I walk to work. Isn't the architecture STUNNING? So much detail! It tells a story.

"Actually, I'm a fan of older architecture. Not that some of the newer stuff isn't interesting--but the older stuff somehow seems to have more character. And I love the details and the stories of how they came to be."

Meeeeeee too! The older the better. That's what I really love about the cities here in the north east, they have so much character and rich history. Churches are probably my favorite thing to explore and photograph. And I don't care what denomination they are, to me they're ALL beautiful and sacred.

Thanks oodles for stopping by, dear lady. Hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

"Ron you would ADORE Italy, especially the little hill towns."

I have a feeling if I ever went to Italy, I would NEVER leave. There is something about the 'energy' and 'overall look' of Italy that touches me so deeply. Maybe it's because my ancestors are from there, but I can FEEL Italy in my soul.

"It has a long history of internal warfare between families (who kept building higher and higher towers to compete with each other) betrayal, murder and all that other gothic stuff. Oh, and you should go to Volterra where part of the New Moon (Twilight) vampire series is set."

Honestly, I haven't watched True Blood in so long, therefore I'm out of the loop with what's going on. When the show first came out I was addicted! I need to go back and watch it on You Tube.

I'm finding it difficult to pick a favorite. Really. I've been scanning them over and over for the last few minutes, and I can't pick out "the best one". They're all great! And they're getting me in the mood for one of my favorite bands in the world: My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult. They're going to be swinging into town in October. Can't wait!
