My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
If you were reading my blog last year at this time, I’m sure you remember the mistake I made in miscalculating my birthday.
I thought I was turning 58 when in reality, I was turning 57.
And I wouldn’t have even realized I made the mistake if it hadn’t been for my brother Tom who informed me, “No, Ron…you are not 58 this year, you’re 57. Because if you subtract 1955 from 2012, you get 57.”
DUH…I have no idea how I did that, other than attributing it to my consistent F-grade in mathematics all through grammar and high school. But thanks to my brother, I ended up being a year younger than I thought I was.
However on Wednesday, October 2, I WILL be 58.
And if you know me well, you know I have a fascination with astrology. It’s not that I read my daily horoscope every day and follow it, but I have researched this topic and have also had my astrological chart done by a professional astrologer many years ago. And let me tell you folks, this guy was spot on. He knew (even before doing my chart) that my rising sign was Virgo, just from talking to me. And when he showed me the completed chart, he said, “See, what did I tell you? Look (pointing to my chart) your rising sign IS Virgo!”
Some people view Astrology as silly or cultish, but it's not. It is a very detailed study of patterns and relationships - of planets in motion, our birth chart, synastry with others, the make-up of elements - and using that knowledge as a tool to find meaning.
And to become a professional astrologer, it takes a great deal of education and work because it’s not easily learned.
I have also read that Astrology may even be a science.
I don't use Astrology as a means of predicting my future because quite frankly, I don't want to know my future. I use Astrology as an overview to better understand myself and others.
Example: Through having my astrological chart done, I discovered that I was born in a year when October had a double full moon. Therefore, I am greatly affected by the moon. Prior to a full moon I feel very tired and spacey, but then ON and AFTER a full moon I feel extremely energized and alert.
My astrological sun sign is Libra. And so much of what I read about the sign fits me to a T although, some things do not. But that’s because so many other variables come into play with your sun sign such as, the exact time and day you were born and your rising and moon sign.
*my moon sign is Aries
And it’s funny because both my mother and father were also Libras and we each had a lot of similar characteristics.
They say that being coupled or having a friendship with the same sun sign can either be a match made in heaven or hell on earth because you have too much in common, and will often clash. But I have to say that the easiest sign for me to get along with are other Libras.
In fact, many of my close friends are Libras. The thing I like about Libras is that we can sense how far to go with each other, before we know when to back off and give each other our space. My mother and I would have the most intense conversations with each other; having completely different and strong viewpoints, but it never turned into an argument because we knew when to stop. We respected each other’s boundaries.
Sure, Libras have challenges like, making a decision, being impatient, perfectionism, and can be fiercely independent.
But I have to say that I really enjoy being a Libra. I even like the word, Libra.
Anyway, since this is my birthday week, I thought I would give you guys and gals a birthday gift from me to you.
A reading of your sun sign.
I discovered a great astrology website called, Cafe Astrology, which gives an in depth description of each sun sign and their characteristics. I put together this little chart, so if you’re interested, just click on your astrological sun sign date below and it will take you there.
Update: If you don't know your moon or rising sign, just read your sun sign (and ignore the rest) because that will give you a basic overview.
Update 2: Thanks to one of my readers, Herman, he found a website for calculating your moon sign. Check it out because it's accurate - Lunarium.
And please share what your sun sign is if you leave a comment, because I love knowing what other people sun signs are.
Have fun reading about YOU.
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my fellow-Libras!
Have a SUPER Monday everyone!
