So, here's my story...

Tuesday afternoon I decided to take a long walk over to the Fairmount area of Philadelphia, which is also known as the "art museum area" because of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Rodin Museum, The Barnes Foundation Museum and The Franklin Institute.

After having some lunch at a cafe, I took my camera and walked through all the different sections in Fairmount and snapped about 58 pictures. Fairmount is such a charming area of Philadelphia that you could take pictures for hours and still not get enough.

As I was strolling down one of the neighborhood streets, an elderly gentleman just so happened to walk past and saw me taking pictures. He stopped and said, “If you’re interested, there is a cute little park at the end of this street. You might get some nice photographs.”

I thanked him and decided that I would definitely take a look at the park because I like investigating interesting spots I've never seen before.

And we was right, it was a cute little park. Here I am peeking through the fence...

I spotted what appeared to be a statue of Benjamin Franklin.

And getting a closer look, it was Benjamin Franklin with his kite.

It was such a nice cool fall day, that I decided to sit down on this bench and just enjoy my surroundings.

After about 20 minutes, I opted to leave and do some more walking. However, when I stood up and looked down at the bench, this is what I saw...

Penis art.
It looks like a Picasso, don't you think?

And if you look to the right, you will also see another tiny penis. So I guess I accidentally sat on two penises that day and never felt a thing!

And to make this even more ironic, as I was leaving the park I spotted this sign on a brick wall...

What an appropriate name. Because if you take the "E" off Coxe, it pretty much sums up this park.

Cox.

“If you’re interested, there is a cute little park at the end of this street. You might get some nice photographs.”

Um...yes, thank you...I DID. And also got a blog post out of it.

Have an amusing weekend everyone!
X
P.S. Be careful where you sit though.

  1. And I see there's a ban on ball throwing ... lol.

Great pictures, Ron. It's amazing what's hidden from the average tourist. I came upon a little park once, one that even had a lake, and I didn't know it was there. Mind you I have often been told I go around with my eyes shut.

    Have a great weekend x

  2. The worst part is the bigger penis looks like it may have an STD! Hahaha.....

Ok, Ron, I actually thought your story was going to be about a dildo on a park bench. I was relieved it was just graffiti. You never know what people are going to leave behind. Enjoy your Fall weekend, Ronnie!

  3. LMAO this is awesome! I should share with you the "penis" we stepped on during our last hike! I absolutely had to take a picture because I could not stop laughing! I am glad I am not the only person who can still chuckle at these things!

Ron, only you could write a post about Cox and not have be offensive in any way because you are so clever in the way you write. And I love the first photograph of the tower and clock. How phallic!

    Hilarious post, dude!

HA! And I'm sitting here just imagining what was there!

You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I've seen in the parks here. And even on the streets.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a lovely weekend!

    X to you and Joe!

Bwhahahhahahaha! OMG, you're whole comment made me laugh! But you're right, you never know what people will leave behind because you should see some of the things I've seen living in a city. And not only in the parks, but on the streets.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend, and for the great laughs while drinking my morning coffee. Have a super Fall weekend!

HA! Oh how funny! I think you should share it on your blog. And yes, I chuckle at these things all the time because I think it's hysterical.

About 5 years ago, I shared a post on some of the graffiti I spotted while in men's public restroom in Barnes and Noble.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantastic weekend!

  8. Hey there Matt!

"And I love the first photograph of the tower and clock. How phallic!"

Thanks for "getting" that Matt! That was a photograph I took on my walk over to Fairmount at the start of my day, but didn't realize how "phallic" it was until I uploaded it to my computer and then decided to use it as my opening photo.

Have a SUPER weekend, buddy. And thanks for stopping by!

  9. Ron, this post was hysterical! When I first read your title I had no idea what it was going to be about but knew it would be funny! "And if you look to the right, you will also see another tiny penis. So I guess I accidentally sat on two penises that day and never felt a thing! Lol

I've seen penis art like this spray painted on the sides of bridges while driving on the highway and always wondered how they did it. Did they hang off the side of bridge?

Thank you for the laughs. And I needed them because I'm having a stressful morning at work.

Have a wonderful weekend, Ron x

OMG, me too and wondered the same thing. I mean did they lower themselves on a rope? And did they do it at night so that no one saw them doing it?!? And have you ever noticed that it's always drawn in some BRIGHT or NEON color so that you can't miss it? HA!

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Hope your day gets better.

    Have a fantabulous weekend!

  11. Holy crap, Ron, you pulled a real boner! There's a lot stiff competition down there in Philly!

I swear, only you can get all that action just by sitting down on a park bench, you wild and crazy guy! Too bad you didn't feel anything--that sounds more like my sex life!

And naturally you were drawn to Coxe Park, where you got in the end!

Btw, what is Ben Franklin hiding behind his kite?!? Looks like he sat down on the wrong bench, too!

Great post, buddy, and terrific photos! Enjoy the schlong (oops!) weekend and try not to sit on any more penises!

  12. Do you think that elderly gentleman knew what he was suggesting? Perhaps he'd sat on that very same bench and figured you looked like a guy with a good sense of humor?!

Looks like a lovely little park, but I'm not partial to places that ban my darling doggie. After all, he's better behaved than a lot of PEOPLE I know, ha! He'd *never* consider drawing anything on a park bench, you know!

    Happy Weekend, Ron!

I had to comment in Chrome, because Firefox update doesn't allow comments on blog posts. I hope they fix it soon!

  14. Maybe the elderly gentleman is the one who drew the penises. The perverted old coot. You should have found him again and had a little chat.

"Is that a Sharpie in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

If his response is "both," then you have your perpetrator!

    Have a great weekend, Ron.

Mark, I thought the SAME THING! I thought that he drew them himself OR that he knew they were there and wanted me to see them!

""Is that a Sharpie in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"

Bwhahahahaha! You CRACK ME UP! BRILLIANT!

"I had to comment in Chrome, because Firefox update doesn't allow comments on blog posts. I hope they fix it soon!"

I had read something online about that in one of the Disqus forums. I hope they fix it soon too. And I hope it's not a Disqus issue. I primarily use Chrome, so I haven't noticed that happening to me.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a lovely weekend!

I totally agree! And I found that sign to be strange because most every park in Philadelphia is VERY dog-friendly. Many people here have dogs.

You will LOVE that area of Philly because it's got so many museums and cool things to see and photograph. They just revamped the Rodin, so it looks really nice. Also, the Barnes Museum is faaaaaabulous!

Hopefully, you and I can meet up in Philly so that we can hang out and have fun. Let me know when I good time is for you!

    I wonder if he knew?

"And wow, they've got a lot of great museums in Philadelphia! I would love to visit the Rodin."

Yes, Philly has got a lot of museums which are located all throughout the city, however, the Fairmount area has most of the big ones. They just recently revamped the Rodin Museum and it looks awesome. The exterior is exquisite!

You know I adore the City and know how many wonderful photo opps there are! We haven't been over for a little while though as Ron's latest job there has had him stuck in traffic thru the week so we haven't come in on weekends.
We've been to the Museum of Art and the FI, Barnes, lots of other places... never Rodin though. Will have to keep that in mind!

I haven't been inside the Rodin either, just outside. And I actually haven't ever been inside the Barnes as well. It's a very popular museum right now, so they're only taking reservations and I'm one of those people who when I decide to go, it's usually spur of the moment. But I've heard that it's an awesome museum!
