Yeah, yeah...I know, I'm posting about FALL again but I can't help it, this is my favorite time of the year so please pardon my over-exuberance of this magnificent season.

I don't know what happens to me during the fall but I suddenly become a lunatic, dancing in the streets like a ballet dancer; doing leaps and triple pirouettes while joyously exclaiming, "IT'S FALL...IT'S FALL!!!"

And when I think back on the 20 years that I lived in Florida and no longer experienced fall the way the northeast does, with its gorgeous colors, crisp cool air, and its earthy aromas, I can't believe I didn't miss it.

Yet living here now, again, I think I appreciate it more and realize what I did miss.

I revel in the change of seasons, moving from one to the next and then to the next, in a cycle, giving rise to its own uniqueness.

Yes, I am a city boy. But I'm a city boy who also feels very connected to nature because it grounds and centers me; always bringing me back to earth.

So please enjoy a few photographs of early fall in the city, with all its glamour, color, and earthly delights...

#1) Leaves reflected in a pond.

#3) A single golden leaf amongst the damp earth.

#4) A colorful fern.

#5) A river rock pond at the Barnes Museum.

#6) Leaves reflected in a fountain.

#7) Colorful berries.

#8) Pumpkin patch. Aren't they so dagnabbit cute?

Happy Monday, y'all!
X

  1. Good morning, Ron. Gosh, I kept thinking I had a favourite - until I moved on and found more. I thought the reflected leaves pic were great until I saw the colourful fern... and then those berries ... Wow, what a mass of colour THEY were. You did great with this seasonal post. Like you I love autumn, except for today - here in the UK the rain is definitely out to drown us.

    Happy Monday, dear friend x

  2. There really can never be too many fall posts! I love fall and all the colors I just hate what it means...winter is coming. This girl is not a fan of the cold and I am already starting to blast the heat soo...I am a bit nervous about the impending winter!

  3. What beautiful photos! I cannot pick a favorite. Those pumpkins almost look pretend....they are all perfectly round and the same size. They remind me of those candy corn pumpkins!

    Happy Monday!

  6. Beautiful photographs, Ron! I love the ones of the reflected leaves, but they're all gorgeous! And you can keep posting about fall because I miss it dearly, so I'm experiencing it through you. That's the season I miss most living in Florida.

The photo of you as a ballet dancer is so cute! And so are the pumpkins!

Have a wonderful week, Ron X

  7. Ron, I LOVED seeing your city through these photos, and I'm so glad you captured them for us! I, too, love Fall -- the crispness in the air, the heavier clothes, all those Back-to-School smells. Not to mention, Pumpkins! You're right -- they ARE cute!

I love the river rock pond and feel sure that would be a great and peaceful place to eat lunch or do a bit of writing.

I love those colorful berries and the pumpkin display. And the contrast of that solitary golden leaf with the damp earth background.

And that pic of you doing the sabre dance(??) That's so classic Ron!

    Happy Monday to you, dear!

  8. All right, Ron, I like fall, too! Just put down the sword!

But seriously, i love this post. You have such a great eye that I feel like I'm standing right next to whatever you're shooting. These photos really bring out the beauty of fall.

"I'm a city boy who also feels very connected to nature because it grounds and centers me; always bringing me back to earth."

Exactly! I do enjoy urban life, but I've got to be near some grass and trees or I'll go even nuttier than I already am!

Great job, buddy! You keep this up and you might even have me liking winter!!

    Take care!

  10. Good morning Valerie!

I took most of these photographs last Tuesday, the day I found the 'penis drawing' on the park bench - HA!

Don't you just love the color that autumn brings? Our leaves here just starting to turn, but in the next few weeks (as it gets a bit colder) they should get even more vibrant.

Yes, it's raining here today too, but yesterday it was stunning - cool, clear skies, and sunny.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a lovely week!

    X to you and Joe!

"There really can never be too many fall posts!"

I agree. And I've noticed many bloggers right now, sharing posts on this magnificent season. I can't help myself during this time of the year, I get so excited about FALL :)

"This girl is not a fan of the cold and I am already starting to blast the heat soo...I am a bit nervous about the impending winter!"

We've gotten a couple of cool days here, but not too cold yet.

Can you believe I've not been inside the Barnes yet? It just opened last year and it's been packed with visitors. They only allow a certain amount of people to visit each day. It's gotten to the point where you have to make a reservation to get in.

Have a super week, my friend, and thanks for stopping by!

  15. Hola Denise!

    Thank you :)

I took about 8 photographs of the reflected leaves from different angles. I finally decided on the ones you see here.

"And you can keep posting about fall because I miss it dearly, so I'm experiencing it through you. That's the season I miss most living in Florida."

Yes, that's the season I missed most living Florida too. And I didn't realize that until I moved back to the northeast.

Aren't the pumpkins CUTE? I just wanna HUG them :)

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a wonderful week too!

  16. Hey Mr. Ballet Dancer Lol, these photographs are awesome! I'm especially in love with the ones you took of the reflected leaves. They look professional! Did you use the auto or manual setting on your camera? They are so clear and crisp.

It's so interesting to see the seasons within city life through your eyes. You captured the essence of fall so beautifully, dude!

Yes! Yes! Yes....to all of those! OMG...I'm INSANE for fall - HA!

"I love the river rock pond and feel sure that would be a great and peaceful place to eat lunch or do a bit of writing."

Funny you mentioned that because I actually sat down on one of the benches next to that river rock pond that day and enjoyed the peacefulness. That shot was taken outside the Barnes Museum.

"And that pic of you doing the sabre dance(??) That's so classic Ron!"

HAHAHAHAHA! I made that pic over at Face In Hole.

"Exactly! I do enjoy urban life, but I've got to be near some grass and trees or I'll go even nuttier than I already am!"

Yes, that's the thing about living in a city like you and me. We've got to be near some grass and trees or we'd go NUTS. When you come to Philly for a visit, I will take you to some really beautiful parks we have here. I think you will enjoy them.

  20. Hiya Matt!

    Thank you :)

I took those leaf shots in auto mode and was so impressed by how my camera focused on them (the aperture). The only shot I used on manual mode was the one of the waterfall (the first shot) because I wanted to capture the movement of the water.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most excellent week!

  25. I remember moving to Ohio after living in Hawaii basically the first 8 years of my life, and the profound beauty of autumn - something I had never experienced before. Ever since, I've been in love with fall more so than any other season. Your pictures help remind me why. Love all these shots - especially the pumpkin "patch"!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ron, you just keep getting more and more impressive with your photography. These are FABULOSO! Damn, the ones of the leaves in the water are incredible. And maybe it's just me but I can actually feel FALL in these photographs. You really captured the physical and emotional senses of its beauty.

"Yes, I am a city boy. But I'm a city boy who also feels very connected to nature because it grounds and centers me; always bringing me back to earth." Beautifully expressed!

Yes, it rained here today as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a lovely week!

  28. Wonderful captures but my FAVE is the reflected leaf. That one is fantabulous! I may just have to go look for a puddle. And NEVER apologize for loving Autumn! Next to Christmas, it's the best season of the year! Thank you so much for sharing. If it ever stops raining here, my camera and I will be venturing outside to enjoy our color.

  29. Absolutely love the first reflection shot, great photo.

  30. I'm not a city girl, so for me it's all about the subtle changes followed by this explosion of colour and commotion. Cuz it's harvest season, and time to celebrate the abundant blessings. So fall is really a spiritual time for me....and it sounds like it is for you too. I can't imagine a life without the dramatic changes in the seasons. It's why I love where I live, yaknow?
You KNOW I adored the photos....every single one of them. You did an excellent job of capturing the essence of fall. Whoda thunk the reflected leaf, surrendering to the season, could look so graceful with its batteredness. And such serenity you found, in puddles, in muddy places, and in a pond of river rocks. Amazing. Lovely job. You can do that as many times as you like.
Would I ever complain about PUMPKINS?! OMG they're so preciuos. I hope you took one home with you! LOL...we're up to 8 pumpkins now. I swear they follow me home!!

Thank you :) I was sitting next to that pond one day last week, drinking a cup of coffee, when I spotted that leaf just floating there.

"And NEVER apologize for loving Autumn! Next to Christmas, it's the best season of the year!"

Amen! And I agree with you. I LOVE Autumn!!!

" If it ever stops raining here, my camera and I will be venturing outside to enjoy our color."

Yes, we've had a lot of rain here as well. The weather has been so strange, one day it feels cool and crisp like Fall, then the next day it's raining, warm, and very humid like summer (like today).

Yes, you're right, it really is a spiritual time for me as well. And I can only imagine, through the photos you've shared on your blog, how magnificent your FALL is.

" Whoda thunk the reflected leaf, surrendering to the season, could look so graceful with its batteredness."

That was my feeling as well. And that's why I think I love this season so much.

"Would I ever complain about PUMPKINS?! OMG they're so preciuos. I hope you took one home with you! LOL...we're up to 8 pumpkins now. I swear they follow me home!!"

HAHAHAHAHA! I knew you would say that about the pumpkins, my fellow pumpkin-lover. Aren't they precious? No, I didn't take one home because I bought several tiny pumpkins a few weeks ago and scattered them throughout my small apartment.

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Have a super-duper week!

Because this season touches me like no other, as well. Your beautiful photos are living proof! Walking through the park in a comfy sweater, stopping for warm apple cider, or pumpkin squash soup, or linguini puttanesca. The aromas are enough to put one in a fall coma. Which is where I'd like to stay for as long as possible!
    Happy Fall, Ron! :))

  41. Here here re: fall, I am soooo in love with this time of year too! :-)

You are an exceptional photographer, I hope you realize that!!!! WOW, these are all just amazing but I think the reflecting orangey leaf is my absolute fav. If I were you, I'd be entering a LOT of photo contests. You have a real gift. As a pro photographer said to me many years ago, you can teach anyone technique and the basics for photography but you can't teach them "the eye". You have "the eye" Ron, in spades!!! It's such a treat to see your work.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday, G

  43. Wow you love Fall just as much as I do and I'm quite jealous of your photo abilities... I want my head posted on that ballet dancer! The pics are absolutely beautiful and I especially liked the one with the one yellow leaf on the damp ground. Autumn is so fantastic with all the amazing colors, the crispness in the air and that wonderful smell. It makes me want to be a kid again so I can have dad rake up a big pile of leaves and just leap right in! I had to laugh at the post prior to this one about the penis bench... that was hilarious... you better be sure I'll be watching where I sit from now on! How awful would it be for a lesbian to accidentally sit on a penis!!!! Cox park, Hmmm wonder who came up with that one? Great photos my friend!
