If I had to choose a favorite color (other than my Gothic obsession with the color black), it would be green.

There is something about green that I find energizing and relaxing simultaneously.

I know this may sound strange, but I believe that color can very much effect our feelings and emotions. And I believe this because of my involvement with energy work, and know that every color vibrates with a distinctive energy.

Think about it, how do feel when you're exposed to certain colors? For instance, how do feel when you see the color red? Does it make you feel happy and energized, or does it make you feel irritable and anxious? For me, it's the latter. I don't mind red in small accents, but it's not a color that I can be exposed to for long periods of time.

Color is very powerful and can be used in many different ways to create and effect moods.

While doing some research for this post, I came across a very interesting website, Sensational Color, which touches on color meaning, symbolism and psychology.

I also found another website that shared information on the color green.

Green Represents:

Harmony and balance: Green is the great balancer of our mental, emotional and physical energies which is why there is so much green on our planet. Green is the heart center of the body.

Growth: As in nature, green leaves are an indication the plant is still growing.

Hope: Green is the anticipation of things to come.

Effects of Green:

Rejuvenating: The color green revitalizes us when we are physically, mentally or emotionally exhausted.

Nurturing: Because of its link with the heart, green urges us to nurture others. Green is also nurturing to us - another reason why it is the most predominant color on earth.

Dependable, agreeable and diplomatic: The color green helps us to see situations clearly from all sides.

After reading this, I realized why I'm so attracted to green. It's an ideal color for someone like me, who strives for balance.

Green seems to complement and ground me.

Here are some photographs of various shades of green...

So contrary to Kermit the Frog, who says, "It's not that easy being green."

I think green ROCKS!

Have a colorful Monday, y'all!
