Post updates by email:

There was lots of love and romance going on in Philadelphia this past weekend.

Much to my delight, Sunday was a very busy day in this city with couples having their wedding pictures taken. And I'm so glad I had my camera with me so that I was able to capture the love and romance being captured by their wedding photographers.

Not only did I spot one couple, but THREE! I swear to god, it seemed like everyone decided to get married on that day.

And in case you're wondering why these photographs were all shot in the middle of a busy street like Broad Street, the view of City Hall in the background are what many wedding couples like to capture within their photographs. Broad Street is very popular for taking wedding pictures.

Here's the view...

I noticed this first couple late afternoon and quickly grabbed my camera to get a few shots. And I wasn't the only one taking photographs because the sidewalk was filled with people holding up their iPhones; snapping pictures.

I first thought they were filming a scene from movie on the street, because the setup was so elaborate. Take a look...

What a handsome wedding couple, hu?

Isn't her dress beautiful? And I think she looked stunning in it!

LOVE the vintage car. It looks like a scene from the movie, The Godfather!

And no sooner had I turned away and walked further down Broad Street towards City Hall, I spotted this second wedding couple with their photographer...

Then later, early evening, I spotted this third wedding couple having their photographs taken...

And I'm so pissed because I missed getting a shot of the groom kneeling down on one knee; holding a wedding ring (in a small jewelry box) up to the bride, as he proposed...

Yes, it was a very romantic day here in Philly!

Ahhh....amore!

Have a super week, y'all!

  1. Ron, what superb photographs! I love how candid and natural they are. You are so good at capturing life in a city in action. What a gorgeous wedding dress indeed. The bride and groom look like movie stars. Love the car! I also like the third couple and her traditional Indian wedding dress. It's lovely.

What a great photograph of City Hall and Broad Street. Wasn't the weather this past weekend splendid? Hope you had a Happy Memorial Day!

  3. Oh how marvellous. I love to see brides and grooms on their wedding day. Your photographs are GREAT, Ron.

The dresses are fabulous ... and the cars, too. Thank goodness you had your camera handy.

Coincidentally, we have a registry office in Broad Street, right opposite our equivalent of city buildings. Joe and I were married there so I remember it well.. smiles.

    Happy Tuesday x

  5. The first shot is great. Is that a brick path down the middle of the road? How fun to catch three wedding shoots in one day. I bet the churches in downtown Philly are fabulous inside and out!

  6. Hey there Elaine!

Thank you :) I love city life because there is always something interesting to capture. I enjoy all the activity that comes with urban life.

"What a gorgeous wedding dress indeed. The bride and groom look like movie stars."

Yes, don't they look like movie stars? As I shared, I first thought they were shooting a movie scene on the street because of the setup and that so many people were standing on the sidewalks watching.

I took that shot of City Hall and Broad St. sometime last year and decided to use it for this post. Yup, the weather was gorgeous this past weekend - sunny and cool.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a super week!

Isn't the car faaaaaabulous? I can't even imagine how much that must have cost for them to rent it!

  8. Gooooood morning Valerie!

"I love to see brides and grooms on their wedding day."

Meee too! I'm such a romantic!

Yes, I was so glad I had my camera with me that day. I went out twice, once in the late afternoon and once in the early evening. The weather was so delightful that day, all I wanted to do was be outside enjoying it.

"Coincidentally, we have a registry office in Broad Street, right opposite our equivalent of city buildings. Joe and I were married there so I remember it well.. smiles."

OMG, you're kidding? How coincidental is that!

Thanks so much for stopping by, dear lady. Happy Tuesday to you too!

  10. Yes, it is! It's a median strip down the middle of Broad Street. And you constantly see people standing on it while taking pictures of City Hall because it's such a great view. I took that photograph sometime last year, but never used it until this post.

"I bet the churches in downtown Philly are fabulous inside and out!"

They're absolutely stunning! Very old and have a lot of character. St. Peter and Paul Cathedral is my favorite.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a SUPER week!

  11. Oh my god, Ron, I loved this post because I'm obsessed with anything that has to do with weddings and can't wait for the day when I get married Lol! That first couple (and her dress and flowers) are gorgeous. So glamorous! The photos you took look like something out of Bride Magazine. All these photos are great! You have such a keen eye for capturing the right moment.

    Great post, Ron! Loved it.

    Have a wonderful week x

  12. Ron, these photographs are awesome! I love how you captured the guy with the bike and his tattoos. That is such a cool shot because it's so candid.

"LOVE the vintage car. It looks like a scene from the movie, The Godfather!" That's exactly what it looks like. Or even Bonnie and Clyde!

How did you get that effect in the photograph of City Hall?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hiya Matt!

" I love how you captured the guy with the bike and his tattoos."

Do you know what's funny? I didn't even notice the guy on the bike with the tattoos until after I uploaded the photograph to my computer. But I'm glad he was standing there because it made the picture more interesting.

    "Or even Bonnie and Clyde!"

HA! Yes, you're right, or even Bonnie and Clyde!

I got that effect by using the "fish-eye effect" on my camera. Although, that photograph was not taken with my new camera, I took it with my previous camera sometime last year, but never used it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most excellent week!

"I'm obsessed with anything that has to do with weddings and can't wait for the day when I get married Lol!"

HA! I'm such a romantic, so I too love anything that has to do with weddings and love. I even cry at weddings because I get very emotional.

"That first couple (and her dress and flowers) are gorgeous. So glamorous!"

Yes, aren't they glamorous? I couldn't tell what her floral bouquet was, but I think they were camellias.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a wonderful week!

What beautiful brides and dresses and the handsomely dressed grooms, oh my! Love is a wonderful thing, wishing them all lifetimes of love and happiness!

  16. Wow, Ron, love was definitely in the air in Philly. Too bad you didn't have advanced notice--you could have dressed up like Cupid!

I love that vintage car. That couple really went all out!

I met a lady one time who had a wedding shot done outside the Flatiron Building in Manhattan. She told me it was a spur-of-the-minute idea that the photographer came up with as they were driving to the reception. And it look fabulous!

Great shots, buddy, and a great post! Have a fantastic week!

  17. What great photos and what a wonderful city-view setting for these pics too. WOW, love that white car in the first ones. Is that a Rolls?

And the dress the last bride is wearing is AMAZING!!! Too bad they weren't riding in on an elephant, that I HAVE seen before (OK, so it was on Corrie St. does that still count??) for an East Indian wedding.

Have a super week Ron and keep that camera handy. Keep those great photos coming, always a treat. :-)

  18. What lovely photos, Ron! Why, if you didn't already have a job, you could set up shop as a wedding photographer!! With THREE to capture on just one day, that could prove lucrative, my friend!!

Love the white vintage car in the first set! Her bouquet is beautiful, and they look like they belong together. Love the vantage point with City Hall in the background -- no wonder couples want to preserve that view in their wedding albums!

Happy rest of the week, dear!

  19. One more wedding and a funeral, and you might have bumped into Hugh Grant. Better luck next time, buddy!

Broad St. is a great setting. I can see why so many couples stop there for photographs.

  20. Thanks, Suzi :)

I took that first shot of City Hall sometime last year, using my previous camera. I've been storing it on my computer in a photo folder. I finally decided to use it for this post.

Aren't the wedding couples so beautiful and handsome?

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!

  21. Hey there Rob!

"Too bad you didn't have advanced notice--you could have dressed up like Cupid!"

HAHAHAHAHA! You're right! And it's so ironic you mentioned Cupid because I was thinking of adding pictures of Cupid in the post title graphic!

Isn't the car faaaaaaabulous? And I can only imagine how much it must have cost to rent it for the day?$?$

Oh how AWESOME was that? And what a prefect location to shoot wedding photos. Also, I bet a lot of wedding couples have their photographs taken on Brooklyn Bridge with Manhattan in the background!

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a SUPA' week!

HA! You're right! I got very lucky that day with THREE weddings going on.

"Her bouquet is beautiful, and they look like they belong together."

Yes! I thought the exact same thing....the look like they belong together because they are so perfectly matched!

" Love the vantage point with City Hall in the background -- no wonder couples want to preserve that view in their wedding albums!"

It's such a hot spot for wedding photographs because of the beautiful architecture of City Hall in the background.

  25. Ron, honestly, you could be a professional photographer because your pictures look so professional. You have such a gifted eye with the camera!

The photos of the first wedding couple are fabuloso! Love the car! I wonder if they had a vintage theme to their wedding? I bet their reception was gorgeous.

And what a beautiful traditional dress in the final couple photographs. I love their pose!

Philadelphia looks like such a beautiful city, Ron!

  26. Aw...thank you, Robert :) I love taking pictures and have always had an interest in photography. I'm what you would call a photography enthusiast. I'm learning more as I go along.

"I wonder if they had a vintage theme to their wedding? I bet their reception was gorgeous."

OMG, I thought the exact same thing! By the looks of it, it does seem as though they had a vintage theme to their wedding. And yes, I bet their reception was GORGEOUS!

"And what a beautiful traditional dress in the final couple photographs. I love their pose!"

Me too! And she was so cute because she was talking all the people standing on the sidewalk as they were taking her photograph.

  27. There is something so purely romantic about seeing people in wedding garb - makes you forget all about the divorce rates! ;)

I also really like the first photo - looks like the buildings are leaning in to embrace.

  28. Hey, you could've called this post "Three Weddings And A Ronnie"

    :)

  29. Absolutely adore your first photo and its special effect, Ron, although they're all so special. How can anyone not love a beautiful wedding? Me, Ron? My ex and I eloped. We went to Manhattan's City Hall. It was 1975, I wore a halter dress I'd wear to a disco, it was that casual. We were young, full of adventure, and the hope of our future. I would have hired you as our photographer. ;)) You know? Every time the scene in which Loretta talks about having bad luck for marrying at city hall, I chuckle.
Just love the spirit and beauty of this post, Ron! :))

OMG, that's AWESOME!!!!! And it's funny because I had just moved to NYC in 1974, so I was there when you got married in 1975!!!

" Every time the scene in which Loretta talks about having bad luck for marrying at city hall, I chuckle."

HAHAHAHA! Don't you love that scene in the movie? Moonstuck is one of my all-time favorite movies. It's so NY! And it's so ITALIAN!

  33. Ron this goes in my top ten favorites of yours. WOW. I get your posts in email at work and when I saw this I DEVOURED it. I had to call my co-worker over so we could zoom in, talk about each picture and especially talk about the car and THE DRESS. Wow I wonder how much she spent on that... they look RICH. Such a beautiful couple. ALL of those pictures are incredible... just INCREDIBLE..... I want to know the story of each and every couple!

Yes, RICH indeed don't they? I can't even imagine what that ROLLS car must have cost to rent. And I bet their reception was equally as elaborate. Don't they make a beautiful couple?

  37. I'm so behind at the blogs…. but I'll start here, because it's a HAPPY post! Wow, I can feel the love. Weddings! Three weddings, even better. :)
Of course, the first couple are very attractive… oooh, but the car… LOVE that car!
At first I was looking at the photo of the car parked and the couple being photographed and I thought how could they do that in traffic… but then I looked closer and saw they were in the middle. lol
Ahh, the jeweled dress on the 3rd bride, gorgeous!
Hey, how did you get the effect of the first photo, is it a fishbowl selection in your photo program?? Whatever it is, I don't think it's available in Picasa. Note to self: must try other programs!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hellooooooo there Mary!

Yes, isn't the car a faaaaabulous touch to the wedding pictures? I can only imagine what their reception was like!

"Ahh, the jeweled dress on the 3rd bride, gorgeous!"

I agree! And I love that it's a traditional Indian gown. She was so cute because she was waving and talking to all the people standing on the sidewalk taking pictures of her :)

I got that effect from the settings on my camera. It's called "fish-eye" effect. I bet you have it on your camera as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by and catching up on my posts. You're a sweetheart!

  40. I know, but that's a quick candid action shot that I took from the other side of street as she was walking to City Hall. I actually don't even know what her full dress looked like because I never saw it. But I bet it was beautiful!
