Post updates by email:

Well, Sunday is that special day when we celebrate mothers.

Therefore today, I would like to dedicate this post to motherhood and all you faaaabulous ladies out there.

As most of you already know, I was blessed with two mothers. One who carried me into this world, and one who carried me through it. Both of whom are no longer on this earth, but will remain in my mind and heart forever.

I think the main thing I learned from my mothers is just how powerful and special women are. Because not only do they have the ability to conceive and birth life if they choose, but they also have the ability to give birth to creation in so many other ways.

Having these two wonderful ladies in my life gave me a deep respect for women; holding them in high regard as valuable and essential to this planet.

"A strong woman is one who feels deeply and loves fiercely. Her tears flow just as abundantly as her laughter.
A strong woman is both soft and powerful. She is both practical and spiritual.
A strong woman in her essence is a gift to the world."

-Ritu Ghatourey

Below are a few photographs I took, through which I weaved some of my favorite quotes about motherhood...

"There's a reason some people think they can do anything...they listened to the their mothers."

"Mothers hold their child's hand for a moment, and their heart for a lifetime."

"A mother's heart is a special place, where children always have a home."

"A mother understands what a child does not say."

"I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine - she helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights."

"I am a mother.
I am not perfect.
But everything in my life
is made with love."

"Youth fades; love droops; the leaves of friendship fall.
A mother's secret love outlives them all."

"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother."

Happy Mother's Day, ladies!
And know that you are loved and appreciated.
X

  1. Thank you so much, Ron. It is hard for me to put into words how much I love my kids, but your quotes are very descriptive. I hope you have a beautiful weekend! XO

I like that, a lot. I always enjoy reading about your mothers and the love that embraced you all. It's wonderful. You have such happy memories.

We had our Mothers Day in March. It's a day that has varied emotions for me, first and foremost because my son remembers me and my stepdaughter too. I get a card all the way from Australia which is lovely considering she is not my flesh and blood.

The downside is that I didn't get on with my own mother so I always feel I'm missing something.

    Happy Friday x

  3. Beautiful Mother's Day post, Ron! Your photographs and quotes go perfect together. "A mother understands what a child does not say." That's true because my mother always knows and understands what I'm thinking and feeling without ever saying it to her. It's as if she can read my mind. I think mothers are very intuitive.

I love that final photo and quote! Have a wonderful weekend, Ron x

And I can tell how much you love your kids (and they love you) just from knowing you these many years. You're a GREAT Mom!

Happy Mother's Day, my friend! Have a beautiful weekend and enjoy your day out!

  5. Good morning Valerie!

I feel so incredibly blessed to have been given those two ladies as my mothers. And it's incredible because they were very much alike in many ways.

"We had our Mothers Day in March. It's a day that has varied emotions for me, first and foremost because my son remembers me and my stepdaughter too. I get a card all the way from Australia which is lovely considering she is not my flesh and blood."

Aw...that is so wonderful to hear!

"The downside is that I didn't get on with my own mother so I always feel I'm missing something."

But think of it this way, you became the mother to your son that you wanted your mother to be for you; therefore, you grew from that experience and became a wonderful mother :)

Happy Mother's Day, dear lady! Have a beautiful weekend!

    X to you and Joe

  6. Hola Denise!

"That's true because my mother always knows and understands what I'm thinking and feeling without ever saying it to her. It's as if she can read my mind. I think mothers are very intuitive."

I agree, because like you, my mother could always sense what I was thinking and feeling. My stepmother, even though we weren't blood related, had a very close bond. And it's funny because she always used to say to people, "Out of all my stepchildren, Ronnie is mine." :)

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. "I am a mother.I am not perfect. But everything in my life is made with love." Oh Ron, I love that one because it's so true! I'm not a perfect mother, but every choice I made/make was/is made with love.

I think it's so beautiful that you had two mothers who were such blessings in your life. And I'm sure you were to them as well. My husband was also raised by two mothers. His biological mother passed away when he was a teen. His stepmother was a such a lovely woman.

Thank you for this post, Ron.

    ((((((((( You ))))))))

Even though I'm not a parent, I think it would be impossible to make the perfect choices all the time because none of us are perfect. But I think parents have the best intentions with the choices they make for their children.

"My husband was also raised by two mothers. His biological mother passed away when he was a teen. His stepmother was a such a lovely woman."

    That's wonderful!

Ron, I feel the same way about women, whether they become a mother or not. I have such an admiration and respect for females. My mother is an amazing women. And so is my girlfriend.

Beautiful post, dude! That last photo is amazing. Where did you take it?

  12. God, Ron, this post is so beautiful it brought me to tears! And I'm sitting in my office now!

But I don't care, we should never apologize for getting emotional over our mothers. Emotions are what mothers are all about.

It's hard not to be sad at this time of year, but this post and those wonderful photos helps me think of my mother's life, not her passing. I know both your moms are smiling down from Heaven on you right now, buddy, and with very good reason!

Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

  13. Ron, this is absolutely beautiful! Your photos, these quotes, and your memories of two special moms make reading this post a true feast for the eyes and senses. Thank you for saying what so many of us moms feel -- and saying it so well!!

I think your first photo and quote (the one with the redbud tree) just might be my favorite. It shows how important it is to be a GOOD mother, one who puts her child's welfare above nearly everything else. How easy to SOAR when your mom has so much faith in your abilities!

Here's hoping your weekend is fan-tab-ulous!!!

It's so great to hear you say that! And I agree, women are amazing and very essential to this world!

I took that photograph several years ago. One of my friends used to live next to the Philadelphia Art Museum, and I snapped that shot standing on her balcony one day as the sun was setting through the clouds.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most excellent weekend!

Right on! We should never apologize for getting emotional over our mothers. In fact, while writing this post I got emotional myself, thinking of my mothers and how blessed I was to have them. I think it's good to get emotional because it means they still live in our hearts.

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your sweet words, buddy. Have a GREAT weekend!

  16. You are lucky to have had two strong women to help shape and mold you in life, Ron. What a great tribute to both. They would be touched to know their influence on you continues to this day!

  17. Oh Ron, you KNOW I'm tearing up, reading this post. When I got as far as the lily of the valley pic, the waterworks started, one of my mom's fav flowers.

This is an incredibly beautiful tribute to all moms. You have struck a chord with me, touched my heart so deeply with your thoughtful words and gorgeous photos, thank you so much.

I MISS MY MOM SOOOOO much, it is a pain that never goes away, and it's 7 years since she passed on. An ache that no one really understands until it happens to them, when the person they are closest to on this Earth, passes on to the other side.

Hugs to you and to your moms too. They never really leave us and that is a comfort when the tears come, isn't is?

  18. Ron, whenever you speak of your mothers, it is so obvious to me through the energy of your words, just how much they touched your life. And still do. Like you, I am very close to my mother. She is someone who I can always talk to and discuss anything, without her ever judging me. She just listens and then asks question, allowing me to come to my own conclusions. She is a very wise women because she knows when to speak and when not to. She's a great lady, who I'm proud to call her MOM!

Beautiful photos and quotes. "I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine - she helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights." I love that one in particular.

    Lovely post, Ron!

  20. Hello there Geraldine!

" When I got as far as the lily of the valley pic, the waterworks started, one of my mom's fav flowers."

Oh gosh, sorry about causing the waterworks, my friend. I spotted those lilies of the valley in a park that I go to and thought they were so beautiful and delicate. Aren't they such a lovely flower? And I love their aroma.

"I MISS MY MOM SOOOOO much, it is a pain that never goes away, and it's 7 years since she passed on. An ache that no one really understands until it happens to them, when the person they are closest to on this Earth, passes on to the other side."

Yes, you're right about that. It's only been a little over two years for me, since my mother passed. And sometimes I have to stop and remind myself that she is no longer here because it seems like just yesterday she was so alive.

"They never really leave us and that is a comfort when the tears come, isn't is?"

Yes it is. And thank you for sharing that.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a beautiful weekend!

Aw, you are so welcome, Debbie! Mothers (women) are very important in this world. And also very important and influential to their children.

" It shows how important it is to be a GOOD mother, one who puts her child's welfare above nearly everything else. How easy to SOAR when your mom has so much faith in your abilities!"

Exactly! And my mother always stood behind all my life choices and supported me 100%. Which gave me the confidence to SOAR!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Wishing you a beautiful and Happy Mother's Day and weekend!

OMG, that's SO beautiful! And yes, she sounds like a GREAT lady! You and your mother sound so much like the relationship I had with my mother.

And I love that quote in particular too because my mother was so much like that!

  23. Unfortunately, I did not have a good role model for what a great mother should be which made me so much more determined to BE a fantastic mother! My children (some of my body & others of my heart) know every day how much I love them!

  24. "Unfortunately, I did not have a good role model for what a great mother should be which made me so much more determined to BE a fantastic mother!"

BRAVA, Benze! And I applaud you for that! And yes, I bet you're a FANTASTIC mother!

I just recently watched an interview with Christina Aguilera in which she said the same thing. She did not have a good "father" role model in her life growing up, so she was determined to be the best mother for her son.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great rest of your weekend!

  25. Well thank you Ron! I know you thought about your mother a lot today - happy, sad, melancholy and hopefully some laughter.

Your quotes all really touched me. I think my favorite, although it was hard to choose, is:

    "I am a mother.

    I am not perfect.

    But everything in my life

    is made with love."

Don't you LOVE that quote? I think that's my favorite as well!

Happy Mother's Day, my friend. And have a faaaaabulous week!
