My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
Being a self-proclaimed vampire, I am definitely a creature of the night.
And this one of the reasons why I relish Fall and Winter and how the sun sets early. I know that the majority of people prefer loooooong days and short nights, but not me. Truthfully, I'd be happy with about five hours of daylight and the rest nightlight.
My favorite thing to do during the fall and winter months is take long walks through the city after dinner. I will sometimes walk for two hours, enjoying the peace and quite, and beauty of night. I know this sounds funny, but I actually see better at night. In fact, all my senses seem more acute.
For the past several months, I've been taking my camera with me during my walks and practicing nightlight photography. One of the major reasons for getting this camera was to learn more about using the manual settings (shutter speed, aperture, and ISO) instead of always relying on auto-mode. It's been a wonderful journey; one in which I'm still learning.
Here are several photographs I took during my favorite time of the day.
