My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
Just wanted to give you a heads-up that this post is heavy with photographs because I just recently traveled to New York City with the sole intention of visiting Hudson Yards and the Vessel, which officially opened March 15, 2019, and had such an AMAZING time that I literally could not stop myself from taking a BILLION pictures because I was utterly gobsmacked.
I had been reading about Hudson Yards for several weeks and had seen quite a few photographs and video clips, but seeing it in person was even more impressive and exciting. I felt like I was in The Wizard of Oz walking through the Emerald City.
Oh my god...the place is PHENOMENAL!

These first two photographs I found online to show you the area along the Hudson River on the West Side of Manhattan, referred to as, Hudson Yards...
These next two collages are composed of photographs I took myself of some of the retail stores inside the shopping area at Hudson Yards...
I didn't know whether I'd be able to climb the Vessel because I had seen online that it was so crowded they suggested you make a reservation ahead of time. However, I couldn't believe my luck because when I got there that day (around 12:30 PM), it didn't appear to be that busy. Perhaps because it was a weekday rather than a weekend. Anyway, I ended up getting a ticket for admission (which was free) and was able to spend 30 minutes climbing the stairs and taking photographs. I had SUCH a blast!
Here is a brief description of the Vessel:
"The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive design piece was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points.
Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs -- almost 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings -- with nearly one mile of vertical climb above the Public Square and Gardens, this landmark offers remarkable views."
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you New York's newest magnificent and exquisite piece of architecture, the Vessel...
I conclude this post with photographs I took while at Hudson Yards of two adorable and very chic little Pomeranian's who LOVED having their picture taken. In fact, they actually posed like two professional supermodels...
The Pom on the right thought she was Cindy Crawford on a photo shoot for Vogue magazine. Notice how she subtly turned her head to the right so that the wind blew her hair away from her face.

The following photograph is what Hudson Yards will eventually look like in its total completion...
"Hudson Yards is New York’s newest neighborhood and home to more than 100 diverse shops and culinary experiences, offices for leaders in industry, significant public art and dynamic cultural institutions including The Shed, modern residences, 14 acres of public plazas, gardens and groves and the world’s first Equinox Hotel."

Notice the little platform shoes they're wearing.
