I don't know if any of you are familiar with the term: stud-muffin, but it's a term we gay-folk often use when we see someone who we think is beyond delicious.

And personally, I think Britain-born Clive Owen is a MAJOR stud-muffin.

OH. MY. GAWD!.....TO DIE FOR!

Those of you who have been reading this blog for many years, know that my "ideal type" in a man is dark (or salt and pepper) hair; a scruffy face that contains chips and dents; and eyes that penetrate your soul.

I am not the slightest bit attracted to smooth-face or perfect-body youngin's. In fact, I never liked youngin's even when I was a youngin' myself. No, I prefer men who look aged in wood. And to me, the definition of  "a man" means at least 40-years old.

Viola!

 Enter, Sir Clive Owen...

Now, tell me...don't I have good taste in stud-muffin's?
Be honest.

Backstory with Clive Owen:

From 2004 until 2014, I worked for the Italian company, Bvlgari. I was part of their fragrance division, which till this very day feel that Bvlgari makes some of the most exceptional fragrances in the world (not to mention the jewelry, watches, and leather-goods). I was extremely honored and proud to work for them because everything they produce, is quality.

Back in 2010, Bvlgari launched a new men's fragrance called, Bvlgari Man. And let me tell you, it's an incredible fragrance because it is a brilliant contradiction of things -- it's complex, yet simplistic; it's masculine, yet androgynous; it's smooth, yet stimulatingly charismatic. It's the kind of fragrance that if someone is wearing it and they walk past you, you immediately have to look to see who it is.

It's alluringly intoxicating. And even though I haven't smelled it in years, I can vividly recall exactly how it smells.

I was first introduced to Clive Owen through visuals during the launch of the fragrance because Bvlgari hired him to be the Bvlgari Man.

Which, in the beauty industry, we like to use the term, "the face" of a product.

Now up until that point, I didn't even know who Clive Owen was because I had never seen any of his films.

However, on the day that I attended the Bvlgari Man launch luncheon at one of the hotels here in Philadelphia, the second they began showing us all the media that they would be using to advertise the fragrance (print work, TV commercials, and retail store visuals), I was visibly drooling and just about fainted.Thank god I was sitting down!

Here are some examples of the print work that was used during the initial launch of Bvlgari Man...

I think Clive was the perfect choice for the face of Bvlgari Man because he was the embodiment of how this fragrance makes you feel. And when you get right down to it, that's what fragrance is.

It's a feeling.

And I also think that because these images were shot in black and white, it gives the fragrance more impact.

Look at those eyes!

Here are a few more images of Clive Owen that I found online...

To me, what is so appealing about his "look" is that it's so diverse.
He looks good either scruffy and roughed up.
Or well-groomed and impeccably dressed...

I have only two words.
WOOF! + WOOF!

Have a handsome weekend everyone!

  1. Okay, I'll admit that I've never heard of Clive Owen - - but, then, I'm so far behind with everything nowadays that I'm still trapped in the bell bottoms and puka shells era.

Anyway, I like Owen's raw masculinity and seasoned ambience. He's a perfect representative for Bvlgari. The colored photos are great, but I prefer the black and white ones - which project a romantic timelessness.

Much like you, I've always preferred men older than myself - although lately they're getting more and more difficult to find (*smile*). When I was 22 I had a torrid affair with a guy in his 50's (an ex-model).

Perhaps I was always searching for a father figure...(??)

Anyway, it's an intriguing post, Ron. Have a super weekend!

  2. Wow, and Wow again. Now that's a face I could keep looking at. And how! Hope you don't mind me hanging around so I can keep looking and drooling.

  3. Ron, you crack me up! Yes, Mr. Owen does have a presence, especially in his more recent years and especially when he's scruffier. And his eyes are amazing! You have great taste, my friend!

I find it interesting how certain models can become "the face" for a product ... and how, when you hear certain music, you know just what's being advertised. I guess all our senses are being pulled into play with marketing, huh?

    Have a wonderful weekend! xx

  4. Yes, Ron, you have excellent taste because Clive Owen is definitely a stud-muffin. Woof! Woof! LOL! I first saw Clive Owen in the movie, Closer. Did you ever see it? Great film, with a great cast.

Thanks for the morning Muffin, Ron!

    WOOF! + WOOF!"

Ron, you kill me because you are so funny! Clive Owens is such a hottie! He's my ideal type as well. I didn't realize he was English because the first movie I saw him in he had an American accent. It wasn't until a film, did he use his own accent.

Loved reading about your work with Bvlgari and how Clive was the face for Bvlgari Man. You have so curious to smell it now. Do they still make it? Those black and white images of him are so sexy!

Wonderful post, Ron! I always look forward to when you post. Have a great weekend xo

  6. Of course I remember using the term, Stud Muffin, though I preferred the term, FOX! Ron, you will be happy to hear that you will never have to fight me for Clive because he is just not my type. I like the baby face look.......even if he's getting up there, like Rob Lowe. That man is extremely yummy in my book. If I feel like getting down and dirty, I will take Johnny Depp!!!

  7. OMG Jon, when you mentioned puka shells I had to laugh because I had several puka necklaces back in the 80's. In fact, I said something about puka necklaces to someone I once worked with who was in their 20's and they looked at me like a was an alien and said, "What the hell is a puka necklace?!?" I had to explain what they were LOL!

"Anyway, I like Owen's raw masculinity and seasoned ambience. He's a perfect representative for Bvlgari. The colored photos are great, but I prefer the black and white ones - which project a romantic timelessness."

My sentiments exactly! And I loved the way you said that.

"Perhaps I was always searching for a father figure...(??)"

    Yes, for me as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a super weekend too! And watch out for those SNAKES! LOL!

  8. HA! Isn't Clive handsome? And just think, he's from UK so you'll probably get to meet him before I do!

    I love his eyes!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a lovely weekend!

X to you and Mr. Charlie

  9. Hey there Debbie!

"Yes, Mr. Owen does have a presence, especially in his more recent years and especially when he's scruffier. And his eyes are amazing! You have great taste, my friend!"

Thank you. And yes...his eyes are amazing! He's got great-looking hands too! I agree, especially in his more recent years. Like fine wine, better with some age. LOL!

"I find it interesting how certain models can become "the face" for a product ... and how, when you hear certain music, you know just what's being advertised. I guess all our senses are being pulled into play with marketing, huh?"

I love the way you said that because you nailed it perfectly. A lot of time and effort go into selecting "the face" of a product because it's got to be a face that registers the "essence" of the product. I remember when Isabella Rossellini was selected as "the face" of Lancome. She was PERFECT because she was someone who was beautiful, but not threatening to women as a beauty they would be envious of.

    You're right...it's all about marketing.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have wonderful weekend too!

  10. Hey there Candice!

HA! Glad you enjoyed your morning MUFFIN!

Isn't he so handsome? Woof! Woof!

No, I haven't seen Closer, but it's ironic you mentioned that film because I saw it on a movie website that I use, and immediately thought that I needed to watch it. It's an older movie, right? I saw the cast list and you're right...GREAT cast! I love Natalie Portman!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaaaaabulous weekend!

  11. Hola Denise!

OMG yes...a HOTTIE indeed! I love that term as well!!!!

"I didn't realize he was English because the first movie I saw him in he had an American accent. It wasn't until a later film, did he use his own accent."

Yes, me as well! I also never knew that Cate Blanchette was Australian because the first movie I saw her in was "The Talented Mr. Ripley" in which she had a perfect American accent. Later, in an interview, when I heard he speak I was like, "She's Australian?!?!"

Yes, they still do make Bvlgari Man. But since it launched, they created several other Bvlgari Man fragrances withing the line. Yet, the original one will always be my favorite.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Have a faaaaantastic weekend!

  12. OMG...you're the ONLY person I know who knows (and has used) the term Stud Muffin! Bravo to you!!!

Yes, I like the term FOX as well!!!

"on, you will be happy to hear that you will never have to fight me for Clive because he is just not my type. I like the baby face look.......even if he's getting up there, like Rob Lowe. That man is extremely yummy in my book. If I feel like getting down and dirty, I will take Johnny Depp!!!"

HA! OMG I loved that! And hey, that's what makes the world go round. We can't all be attracted to the same type, right? I know MANY women (like you) who prefer that baby face look (like Rob Lowe, Johnny Depp). In fact, I used to work with a women (around my age) who loved the look Johnny Depp.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing on this post, my friend. Enjoyed it!

    Have a FAB weekend!

Yep - stud muffin is a pretty well-known term in the UK! I agree - he IS a handsome devil! But more importantly, he is also a great actor.

  14. Isn't he one handsome devil? WOO! WOO!

And you are absolutely, Fiona, he is also a great, great actor! In fact, just last night I watched one of his films that I hadn't seen before ('Words and Pictures") with Juliette Binoche, and his performance blew me away! His range of characters in all his films are so diverse.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a lovely weekend!

  15. Ron, I always tell my husband that if I ever left him it would be for Clive Owens! Your taste in men is exquisite because I agree, Clive is such stud muffin. Big time! I like the same type of men, scruffy. I like men with body and facial hair. I think it's sexy!

"a scruffy face that contains chips and dents" I loved that!

Your description of Bvlgari Man has me very curious because it sounds amazing! I may have to try and find it so I can spray it on my husband and pretend he's Clive Owen. LOL!

Your choice in pictures are great because he looks like a muffin in each one.

    Fun post, Ron! x

How about this cooler weather, hu? I am loving it. And hope it stays this way for the rest of the month.

  16. Elaine, that is so cute! My mother used to say that she'd leave my father for Cary Grant LOL!

"I like men with body and facial hair. I think it's sexy!"

Me too! I like lots of fur on a man. HA!

" I may have to try and find it so I can spray it on my husband and pretend he's Clive Owen. LOL!

OMG, that CRACKED ME UP! And yes, they still make it. But make sure if you decide to buy it, you get the ORIGINAL Bvlgari Man because they created several different ones a few years after it launched. It's in a clear glass bottle with a black and silver top.

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor! Let me know how you like the fragrance if you get it.

    Have a super weekend!

I am LOVING this cooler weather. OMG...it feels so good after the post two weeks of intense heat and humidity. It feels glorious, doesn't it?

  17. Tara said she wanted a stud muffin for breakfast, so I grabbed a mixing bowl from the kitchen, opened a bag of flour, cracked an egg, but then realized we were all out of studs. Cereal it was, then!

I'm not real familiar with Clive's work, but I did see him in "Closer" as another person noted below. Above? I can't remember if new comments are on top or bottom.

There's a joke in there somewhere involving Clive, top or bottom, but I'm not going there! Have an excellent weekend my friend!!

  18. "I grabbed a mixing bowl from the kitchen, opened a bag of flour, cracked an egg, but then realized we were all out of studs. Cereal it was, then!"

Mark, that CRACKED ME THE HELL UP! You are so clever with words!

Yes, you're the second person on this post who mentions "Closer", which btw I have not seen, but need to because I saw a trailer for it several days ago and it looked very interesting. I just recently saw Clive in the movie, "Words and Pictures" and it was faaaaabulous! I also just watched a thriller movie was in called, "Intruders." OMG, it was so freaking creepy and chilling. He's a very good actor, as well as a stud-muffin. LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your wit, my friend Always enjoyed!

    Have a faaaaaaaabulous weekend!

    X to you and Tara

  19. Ron, did you ever seen Clive Owen in the film, "Trust?" It is such an awesome film about the internet. He is so good in the role of the father. I email girlfriend this post last night and she told me to tell you that she agrees, Clive is a stuff muffin! Even as a straight guy, I have to say that he is a very good-looking dude. I like his movies because he plays a mixture of all type of characters. He has a strength about him, but also a vulnerability.

I will have to check out Bvlgari Man to see how it smells because judging by you words, it sounds very appealing.

  20. Hey there Matt!

OMG yes...I saw the movie Trust several years ago and thought it was so intense. The movie starts out one way, but then slowly turns into such a thriller. Clive was so good. I also like the actress who played his wife (Catherine Keener). She is such a great actress.

I think Clive is the type of man/actor that even many straight men see as good looing because he's very much a man's man. And I also agree with you 100% that he has both a strength and a vulnerability about him. He's got a very good energy about him. Even in interviews I've seen, he seems very natural, down-to-earth, and just a really nice guy.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a most excellent weekend!
