It's funny because even though one of the tenants on my floor is completely at the other end of the hallway from where my apartment is located, the way the building is designed, we each have a single window in our apartments that are across from each other.

Or should I say, Catty-Corner from each other.

And the reason I say that is yes, the windows are catty-corner, but more so because the tenant has two of the most beautiful, fluffy black cats who enjoy sitting on the inside window sill when she has the window open and gaze into my bathroom window.

It's so cute because every so often, I will suddenly catch sight of one (and sometimes both) of them sitting in the window just staring at me with their gorgeous yellow eyes.

As you know, I ADORE cats, so I'm always delighted when I spot them sitting there. I will very often wave through my window and gently talk to them through our screens.

The tenant and I have met in the hallway and the elevator many times. And every time we do, I go on and on about her cats and how beautiful they are. She, like me, is a big time cat-lover. So we enjoy talking about felines and what fabulous little creatures they are.

I remember several years ago when she first got them. She adopted them as a pair because they were related (brother and sister). And it's amazing because they look alike. So much so, that it seems as if you're looking at identical cat twins.

The only way I can tell them apart is that one is shy and reserved. While the other is more curious and sociable, and will actually talk (meow) back to me.

A few days ago when I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, I spotted one of the kitties looking at me through the screened window. I quickly grabbed my camera and snapped some photographs. However, it was challenging because the cat kept backing away, afraid of the shutter sound from my camera.

I didn't take that many shots because it all happened so quickly. And although I opened my own window screen, I had to shoot these pictures through my neighbors screen. But in a way, I think it gave the images an interesting textured look. Almost as if I used a filter.

Please enjoy my Catty-Corner...

This is my favorite picture.
How cute are those little cat eyes, peeking over the window sill...

Personally, not only do I appreciate cats, I love, love, love, love them!

Wishing you a meow of a week, everyone!

  1. We too are cat lovers, Ron, although now living in an apt are pet-less by choice. My former feline was also a black cat with a tip of white on her tail and was named Sambuca and Pat’s was a calico named Missy for Misfit as she was a former stray. Your neighbor’s cats sound like a beautiful, pair. Yes, that photo of cat’s eyes was a great one. Shooting through window screens is never ideal, but the photos showed the beauty of your feline neighbors. I loved the post title as well.

  2. Just call me Mighty Mouse, then! Bahahaha! Well, I guess you already know that I find cats creepy, but the photos of them staring at you through the screen are even scarier! I'm glad you appreciate them and have some entertainment during Pandemic 2020.

Now, can we talk about the fact that you can see so clearly into your neighbor's window that you can read her book titles??? I think we need more posts on your spying capabilities, Ron!

Hope you are having a delightful week, my friend! Love ya!

  4. I guess I must have been a mouse in a previous life, Ron, for I'm not a cat-lover. Not that I hate them (well, except for the neighbor's cats, which persist in using my yard as their bathroom!), but I just gravitate to dogs more.

What awesome pictures you've captured! These black kitties almost look stuffed, they're so still ... and watchful. You know, my late Italian grandma always tried to keep a black cat around the house -- she swore they were good luck. One thing's for sure -- they're way easier to take care of than dogs!

    Happy almost-weekend to you! xx

  5. Ron, I love the cat paws GIF. It's priceless! Did you make it?

You know, I didn't become a cat fan until I met my girlfriend who had two cats when we moved in together. It's not that I didn't like cats, it's that I didn't really give them much thought. But I have to say, now I've been around cats, I see the attraction. They are the coolest things. I like them because they're mellow. They're also very smart. One our cats (the male) is so loving and affectionate. He loves to cuddle.

Great photos of the black cat! I bet the reason they enjoy looking into your window is because they can sense you like cats.

    Fun post, dude. Meow!

  6. I LOVE that name....Sambuca! It's such a great name for a cat! When I lived in NYC, my partner and I also had a calico that we named, Mary-Ann. LOL! I really like the look of a calico cat. The're fur is so beautiful. Almost like a tapestry.

I got lucky with these photos because I took them so fast and shot them in manual mode, so I had to focus the lens for each shot. I'm surprise any of them came out.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a grrrrrrrrreat weekend!

  8. "Just call me Mighty Mouse, then! Bahahaha! "

LOL! OMG...that cracked me the hell up!

And yes, I know you're not a fan of cats. That's okay, I know lots of people who are not fond of cats. It's funny though because my father did NOT like cats at all. That is until my mother adopted one from a shelter and brought it home and insisted that we keep it. It took a while, but he eventually fell in LOVE with that cat and bonded with it more so than any other member of our family. In fact, that cat loved my father so much that when my dad was in Hospice and passing away, that cat never left his side.

"Now, can we talk about the fact that you can see so clearly into your neighbor's window that you can read her book titles??? I think we need more posts on your spying capabilities, Ron!"

OMG...I KNOW...can you believe that? And I didn't really notice that until I uploaded the photos and edited them. You're right, you can actually read the book titles!!! But that's really the only angle I can see into my neighbors window because of the way the our windows are positioned.

Thanks much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaaabulous weekend!

  9. Helloooooooo there, Debbie!

    "I guess I must have been a mouse in a previous life, Ron, for I'm not a cat-lover. "

LOL! Yes, I know you're not a fan of cats because I think you mentioned that one other time when I posted something about cats. That's okay though. I know lots of people how are not fond of felines. It's funny though because most cat-lovers I know, love both cats AND dogs. However, most dog-lovers I know, do not like cats. That's because cats and dogs have a completely different kind of energy. But I have to say, I love them both.

Thank you! I got lucky with these photographs because I took them so fast that I didn't think they would come out at all.

"You know, my late Italian grandma always tried to keep a black cat around the house -- she swore they were good luck."

WOW...I have never heard that? Most of the time you hear that black cats are bad luck; especially if they cross your path. But I believe your Italian grandmother because I've always had the feeling that black cats were special.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaaaaabulous weekend! I can't believe how fast this week flew by.

  10. Hiya Matt!

Isn't that GIF faaaaaabulous? No....I didn't make that. I wish. I found it online while googling pictures of cat paws. They had two different sizes. I chose the larger one.

"You know, I didn't become a cat fan until I met my girlfriend who had two cats when we moved in together. It's not that I didn't like cats, it's that I didn't really give them much thought. But I have to say, now I've been around cats, I see the attraction"

I've heard more stories like that from SO MANY people who were not cat fans, but then ended up getting one and falling in love with them. My father was the same, for some reason he did NOT like cats until my mother adopted one from the shelter. That cat and my father formed such a strong bond that the cat never left my father's side when he went into Hospice and passed away. That cat was so loyal to my father.

Yes, I had two cats at one time (a male and female) who were related (mother and son). The male was SO affectionate. He loved to cuddle with me when I got into bed each night. He also enjoyed sitting in the bathroom while I shaved an showered in the morning, and just watch me. LOL!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a most excellent week!

  11. You know how much I love cats, Ron. Sydney has been a faithful companion for 13 years and counting! I have owned black cats over the years, though none have ever had such expressive eyes. So cute!

It's interesting that you have interior windows looking out across the hall like that, too. Your apartment is certainly interesting!

  12. Oh Ron, this post is SO CUTE!!! You've photos are so great. I agree with you, the screen gave the pictures a filtered look that makes the cat look even more beautiful. I had a black when I lived in my previous apartment. It was a short haired cat, mixed breed. I love that cat so much. He was male (Marc Anthony) and so sweet. I had him for 15 years.

I love the quote you shared about cats being like music because it's so true. People seem to either like cats or don't. I like dogs as well, but a cat is more self-sufficient. A lot of people assume cats are not affectionate, but that's not true. My cat was such a lover boy. He loved to snuggle.

Enjoyed this post so much, Ron! Have a wonderful rest of your week. xo

  13. Oh yes, Mark, I DO know how much you love cats, sure do! And Sidney is such a sweetheart! 13 years??? That's awesome!

It's funny because black cats get such a bad rap of bad luck superstition. Yet, I've always thought of them as good luck because they're so beautiful.

"It's interesting that you have interior windows looking out across the hall like that, too. Your apartment is certainly interesting!"

I know, isn't it interesting that two apartments at each end of the hallway share window space? On my side of the building, it's shape like a rectangular U. So the way our apartments are situated on the floor, my bathroom widow connects to apartment. However, I also have three more windows in the living area that look clearly over the city. Although my studio is small, the windows give it a more spacious feel.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a faaaabulous rest of your week!

    X to you and Tara

  14. Hola Denise!

    Thanks!

Isn't that cat beeeeeautiful? And I Iove how fluffy it is.

"I had a black when I lived in my previous apartment. It was a short haired cat, mixed breed. I love that cat so much. He was male (Marc Anthony) and so sweet. I had him for 15 years."

OMG...I love that name...Marc Anthony!!!! I've never had a black cat, but would love to one day. One of my friends here in Philly has FOUR cats and one of them is completely black. It's so beautiful!

"I like dogs as well, but a cat is more self-sufficient. A lot of people assume cats are not affectionate, but that's not true. My cat was such a lover boy. He loved to snuggle"

You took the words right out of my mouth. I feel the same way. I ADORE dogs too, but I like how independent cats are. And you're right, cats can be very affectionate. My male cat was very snuggly. However, my female cat couldn't be bothered. She preferred not being touched or held.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl! Hope you're having a faaaaabulous week!

Adorable shots. Just purr-fect! The texture of the screen makes the photos look like gorgeous canvas paintings.

  16. Thank you, Fiona!

It's funny how what I initially thought (the screen) would interfere with the photograph, ended up being something that enhanced it.

  17. Hey, Ron, you don't pussyfoot around, do you?!

Love those kitty photos! Your cat neighbor almost looks like a Jim Henson creation.

We always had cats when we were growing up and my sister is still a cat fanatic (fan-cat-ic?) to this day.

I used to feed the strays around my old house to scare aware mice and I got to like them--particularly one I called Comfy because he used to make himself quite comfortable in my garage.

You're so lucky to have these two kitties as neighbors. As least they won't be hosting wild parties or blasting music--we hope!

Take care, buddy, and have a great weekend!

  18. Aww, cuteness overload! And as you know I have a black cat I adore. We have three other neighbor kitties who visit our yard and I always like seeing them.

  19. Yes....I remember that. I think you posted a photo not too long ago in one of your blog posts. BEAUTIFUL cat too!

"We have three other neighbor kitties who visit our yard and I always like seeing them."

That's awesome! Sometimes I will see cats around the city just walking. And I one time saw a guy in one of our parks walking his cat on a leash. OMG...it was the cutest thing because all the dogs in the park were barking their asses off and the cat just ignored them like they weren't even there. HA!

Have a faaaaaaaabulous weekend, my Libra friend. And thanks a bunch for stopping by!

  20. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Rob, you're first sentence killed me! You are so clever with words!!!

    Fan-cat-ic! Brilliant!

And I also enjoyed your line about my cat neighbor looking like a Jim Henson creation. You're right, it does!!!

"I used to feed the strays around my old house to scare aware mice and I got to like them--particularly one I called Comfy because he used to make himself quite comfortable in my garage"

Yes, I think I remember you posting about that on you blog several years ago. That's so kind of you to feed the strays because in a city, it's hard for them to find food unless it's out of a trash can or restaurant dumpster.

Oh yes, they're excellent neighbors---quiet as a mouse. HAHAHAHAHA!

Have a faaaaaabulous weekend, buddy. The weather where you and I live is going to be beautiful this whole weekend. I may even get out in the park tomorrow for some tanning.

Well, you already know that I love cats but I it is a long time since I saw a black one. Someone told me that black cats were out of fashion - have you ever heard such rubbish? Love the cat photos, oh if only my camera still worked!

I am in two minds about you know what..... should I, or should I just leave things alone.

Hoping you are well in our current climates.

  22. Hellooooooo Valerie!

So great to see ya, my friend!

And no, I have never heard about black cats being out of fashion. I mean, what does that even mean!?!

This morning while I was in my bathroom getting ready to go grocery shopping, I spotted one of the black cats in the window looking at me. I waved and said, "Meow!"

"I am in two minds about you know what..... should I, or should I just leave things alone."

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by that, but if it has to do with either leaving or staying online, I say STAY ONLINE because I would miss you dearly.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a grrrreat weekend!

    X to you and Charlie

P.S. Yes, things are crazy in certain parts of the US at the moment. And very scary.

  23. I'm an equal opportunity fur baby lover. This kitty is adorable! My first kitty fur baby was a black cat. We named her Smudge because she was no bigger than a smudge on the wall and could fit in the palm of my hand! I'm sure cats are better pets than dogs living the condo/apartment life in that they don't take as much care as a pupper. X

    ReplyDelete
  24. I know, Lisa, you're a cat love as well. And you're kitty is ADORABLE too!!!!

OMG...I love that name..."Smudge!" It's perfect for how you described the cat.LOL!

Yes, apartment/condo living is ideal for cats because they're easier to care for. Also, they're ideal for urban living because most apartments will not take dogs, only cats. That is unless the dog is a service dog. We have a few in my building, but they're very small and SO CUTE! I love seeing them in the elevator with their owners.

Thanks much for stopping by, my friend!
