I couldn't believe how many photographs I had uploaded onto my computer that I had taken over the past six months, but totally forgot about them. I normally store my photographs on a cloud, however the ones on my computer were more recent than the ones I store on Dropbox, which are primarily photographs I have already posted on my blog or on Instagram. And the only reason l hang on to them is in case I need them for something in the future. But even some of those I've deleted because they were starting to take up too much space in my account. Therefore, every so often I will go through them and decide, "Do I really want to keep this one, or can I get rid of it?" I mean how many photographs can you keep? As most of you know, I don't like clutter or anything in excess, so I periodically do a bit of decluttering and reorganizing when it comes to things in my life; pictures being one of them.

Below are 10 photographs I would like to share with you today. Again, I took them over a period of about six months at various times of the year.

Please enjoy...

I'm enamored with doors; especially old ones...

Window shadows...

To me, there is nothing more beautiful than a misty, gray chilly day during the autumn and winter months. And not only visually, but audibly as well. I hear a calming hush...

Art deco...

Industrial...

This is a building that's being constructed not far from where I live. Besides doors, I'm enamored with windows. They resemble ocean waves, don't they?...

Along with doors and windows, I'm enamored with steeples. So, sometimes I'll walk around the city and take photos of various ones that catch my eye, like this one (in color)...

...(and in black and white)...

I took the train out to Jenkintown one day (which by the way is where Bradley Cooper is from), and spotted this faaaaabulous mural on a wall...

The Comcast Building on Market Street...

 Hope you enjoyed!

Wishing you a picturesque weekend, y'all!

  2. Ron, whenever you post your photographs it makes me want to invest in a camera and start taking pictures. I take photos, but with my cellphone. I've never owned just a camera but have often contemplated getting one.

These are all so awesome! I like the difference in the color and black and white steeple pictures because even though they are the same image, they each have a completely different feel. Gorgeous door! That final shot of the Comcast building is really stunning. It looks like something you'd see in a Superman movie as he flies through the air over Gotham City!!

Did you take photography classes or are you self taught? You've got a really good eye.

    Enjoy your weekend, Ron!

  3. I was just deleting photos from my google account yesterday! I absolutely love your doors photo! Just beautiful! I’ve seen those wings murals in various cities for photo ops. Very cool! I have to say, I think the black and white steeple photos are always the best. Thanks for brightening up my Friday morning ice storm. It’s nasty here right now! XO

I love them Ron! My favorites are the old doors, the window shadows and the mural, but they are all fantastic. Have a fantabulous Friday my friend!

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a glorious day and weekend. And keep taking those pictures!

  6. Morning Candice!

I take photos with my cellphone too. Nowadays, cellphones have such outstanding cameras that it's so convenient to just used your cellphone. I also own a camera, which I have upgraded throughout the years as I've gotten more and more interested in photography. I don't have an expensive or fancy camera, but it does allow me to adjust the settings and use it on manual mode, which has taught me a lot.

And no, I have never taking classes in photography, I'm self-taught. I've always had an interest in cameras and photography for as long as I can remember, so I have a passion for it. I enjoying learning things on my own, rather than be taught in a school settings.

" It looks like something you'd see in a Superman movie as he flies through the air over Gotham City!!"

LOL! OMG...you're absolutely right. I never thought of that. I can just see Superman flying between those buildings!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words, Candice. Have a terrific weekend!

  7. Isn't it something how MANY photos you collect over the years?!

"I’ve seen those wings murals in various cities for photo ops. Very cool! "

Yes, I've see them in various cities too, you're right. Here in Philly, I've never seen them. That's why when I went out to Jenkintown weeks ago and spotted this one, I'm like, "Gotta' get a photograph of that!"

OMG, same here, we're having an ice storm as well. It started late last night and it's even more intense today. I have some errands I need to run today, so hopefully I'll be able to get out there sometime today.

Thanks a bunch for stopping by, my friend. Stay warm, and have a faaaaaaabulous weekend!

  8. Ron, it's really hard for me to choose my favorites in this group because I like them all! That initial shot of the door is just beautiful. I love how you can see grain in the wood. Just beautiful! And the picture of the window shadows is so unique because I've never seen window shadows like that. I've seen window reflections, but not the shadow of windows reflected on another building.

And yes, they do resemble ocean waves. The art deco photo looks like you drew it and then painted it. Incredible!

May I ask, what brand of camera do you have? I have a Nikon point and shoot.

    Have a great weekend, Ron!

  9. Hellooooooooo there, Martha!

Aw...thanks, my friend. I have such a fetish for doors and windows, so I've posted a lot of photos of them on my blog throughout the years. I find doors and windows so interesting because they are so expressive in their own unique way. They have a personality all unto themselves.

Have a fantabulous weekend too! And much thanks for stopping by!

  10. Hey there, Daniel!

Thank you. I will sometimes walk through a neighborhood and just seek out unique doors and take pictures of them. I especially like older-looking doors.

" the picture of the window shadows is so unique because I've never seen window shadows like that. I've seen window reflections, but not the shadow of windows reflected on another building."

Me neither. Which is why I felt the need to capture it. I was walking down that street and suddenly turned and looked to my right and spotted it. The sun had so perfectly hit the windows at the right moment and then caused a shadow on the building across the street. Isn't it so cool?

The art deco photo I took last year sometime. I had it filed in a different file on my computer and completely forgot about it.

I have a Canon Rebel t5. I got it about 6-7 years ago. It's very basic, but it does what I need it to do. The only thing I want to do someday is get a different lens; one with a more zoom and features. I owned a Nikon too. In fact, I had two of them. I LOVED them!

Always great to see you comments, my friend. Have a grrrrrrrrrreat weekend!

  11. Ron, I agree: there comes a time when we all need to de-clutter. Yet sharing photographs is such an important part of blogging, and most of us are fascinated by the things others see on a regular basis. I just love that building with the "wavy" windows -- can you imagine having to wash those things, though??

I love the steeple, too, and what an interesting contrast it makes seeing it in color and then in black and white,. Gives it a whole new feeling. I love your picture of the bridge in gray as well. Such calm water below!

Stay safe from the ice and snow we're sending you this weekend, my friend. It's been pure misery here, being stuck inside. Why, even poor Monkey is having trouble staying upright on all this ice! xx

  12. "Ron, I agree: there comes a time when we all need to de-clutter."

Debbie, that must be a Virgo thing because all the Virgo's I know are very organized and don't like any kind of clutter. I'm a Libra with a Virgo rising, so I have that "Virgo trait" in my astrological chart.

" I just love that building with the "wavy" windows -- can you imagine having to wash those things, though??"

OMG, I cannot believe you said that because one of the first things I thought when I saw those windows was the exact same thing, "How are they going to clean those windows?!?" HA!

Thanks. Sometimes when I take a photo of something, I will get the feeling of seeing what it looks like in black and white. So when I'm editing it, I will switch it to black and white using the software. And I agree, it has a completely different feeling in color and black and white.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I saw that about the weather in your area. We started to get it last night and through today. However, suddenly late in the afternoon, the sun came out and it warmed up a lot. It was literally like experiencing two different seasons in the same day.

As you know, I love the cold and the snow. However, ice is soooooooooooo dangerous.

Stay safe, my friend. And thanks so much for stopping by!

  13. Lovely images, Ron. And ALL of them! You have quite a good variety here, which is wonderful because they all have a different energy about them. Don't you love living in a city? I especially like all the diversity in not only the people, but the architecture as well.

I really love that photo of the bridge. And the contrasting color and black and white steeple shots. I like them both for different reasons. The industrial one is good too. It's got a wonderful raw feeling to it.

Talented you are, Ron! Keep snapping those pictures. Have a great weekend!

  14. Hello there, Clair!

Thank you! And yes, that's one of the things that really attracts me about city life - the diversity in its people and the architecture. But I have to say that I enjoy getting out of the city too, every so often, just for a change of scenery. I've been taking the train out of the city and spending a few hours in the boroughs. I enjoy doing that.

I love anything industrial. And for the reason you shared, "a wonderful raw feeling to it." It's edgy and rough around the edges and I like that. I find it attractive. Not only do I like black and white photos, but I also enjoy watching black and white films. There is such a beauty to black and white.

Thanks so much for stopping by, my friend. Have a great weekend too!

  15. Forgot to mention in my previous comment about Bradley Cooper. I think he is so hot! LOL! I knew he was from Philadelphia, but not specifically what town. So he's originally from Jenkintown? How far is that from where you live? Did you see him that day? LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yup...he's from Jenkintown, PA. I saw a special a few years ago where he went back to Jenkintown and visited his old neighborhood, family and friends. His parents still live there. It's such a cute town. It's a little over 30 minutes to get there by train. Not far at all from Center City.

And no, HA!, I didn't see him. I wish, though!

  17. There is so much great imagery all around, Ron, as you have shown in this collection. My favorite window shots are reflections in high rise buildings, and those window shadows you captured were terrific! As you like steeples, you should take a trip to New England because you would find at least one in every town and black and white is the best!

Over the past couple of months I have been going through older images and decluttering as well. It's a never-ending task for those of us who enjoy taking photos whether with a phone or camera.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank you, D! And you're right, there IS such great imagery all around if we just take the time to look around and see it.

"As you like steeples, you should take a trip to New England because you would find at least one in every town and black and white is the best!"

I bet! In fact, I was talking with a customer today while I was at work who was from New England, and I told her how much I've always been attracted to that area of the U.S. because of all the photos I've seen and different film locations I've seen and think it is soooooooooo utterly beautiful. And she agreed, it is a beautiful place.

And you're right, decluttering is a never-ending task because if you're like us and take A LOT of photos, it can get so overwhelming, not to mention clutter up your computer and storage clouds.

Thanks so much for stopping by, D! Hope you're enjoying a really great weekend!

  19. Killer selection of photographs, Ron! The window shadows is so cool. I love the contrast of the light and dark against the orange colored building. And I love how in the photo of the ocean wave windows you can still see the raw construction above. The angel wings mural is such a great capture. I like the parking meter included!

Being a Goth lover, I have to say that the B&W steeple image is my favorite. Did you edit that photo on your camera or did you edit it afterwards?

As I've said before, you always inspire me with your talent with the camera, dude!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks, Matt! I loved the orange colored window as well. And it's funny because in all the times I've walking past that building, I never noticed it was orange until I took the photo. LOL! Me too! I love the raw construction above the glass windows. They started construction over a year ago, right after they deconstructed practically that whole city block.

I edited that photo in post edit. There is a way to do it on my camera using one of the filters, however, I never even thought to do it until I uploaded the photo and thought, "Let's see what it looks like in black and white."

Always great to see you, Matt! Much thanks for stopping by. Hope you and your girlfriend are enjoying a faaaaaaabulous weekend!

  21. Ron, I wish I had your eye for photography. Tell me something, how did you get interested in photography and when did you start taking photos? Did you take classes?

STUNNING photos! And I mean this, I love them all. Where did you take the door shot? Was that in Philly? My husband wanted me to relay to you that his favorite ones were the art deco and the industrial. We've not visited Jenkintown yet. How far is it? Bradley Cooper is from there?!?! Didn't know that.

Glad you didn't delete these and shared them on your blog, Ron. Nice. REALLY nice!

    Happy Sunday! xo

  22. Hey there, Elaine!

For as long as I can remember (even as a kid) I have always been interested in camera's and photography. I got my first camera for Christmas when I was around 13 years. It was a polaroid (a Swinger). My mother knew I had an interests in photograph, so she got it for me. I used to sit in the library and sit for hours, looking through various photograph books, fascinated by the images. And no, I have never taken classes or anything. I just do research (online and in books), learning from other photographers and then trying it myself.

Yup...that door shot was in Philly. Took that on 3rd Street in Old City. The second I saw it, I knew I had to snap a photo. And tell your husband I said thank you and that I'm glad he liked that art deco photo. That building is right next to City Hall.

Jenkintown (by train ) is about 30-32 minutes outside the city. And the train drops you off right at Suburban Square, so you can just walk there and eat, shop, and just hang out. Ardmore is faaaaaaaaabulous!

Thanks so much for stopping by, neighbor. Happy Sunday to you too!

  23. Wow, Ron, these photos are fabulous! You should be getting paid for your work.

Your photos have such depth to them. Rod Stewart had an album called "Every Picture Tells A Story" and that's what I think of when you post your work. I feel like each one of images has a story to tell.

Excellent work, buddy. Thanks so much for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hello there, Rob!

    Thank you. :)

OMG, I totally forgot about that Rod Stewart album (and song)!!! And you're absolutely right, photographs DO tell a story. That's why I think I love photographs and looking at photographs. It's like every photograph tells a story and sometimes you can go back to a photograph and see something completely different, each time you look at it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, buddy. Have a terrific week!

  25. Oh Ron, I really love all of these! That first one of the door is so gorgeous. The contrast of the white marble against the color of the wood just makes the door POP! I'm a big art deco fan, so I freaked when I saw that. They don't make buildings like that anymore, do they? That's something I miss about living in an older city, the diversity in architecture. Beautiful comparison shots of the steeple. I can't decide which one I like better because I like them both equally.

Your post reminded me that I have got to go through the pictures I store on my computer because they are beginning to take up too much space. I have two laptops, so I have to go through both of them.

Thanks for sharing your photograph talent, Ron. Such an artist you are!

I hope you're having a wonderful week. xo

  26. Hola Denise!

Thank you! :) I have SUCH a door fetish. And I agree, living in a city (especially an older city) has some of the most amazingly diverse architecture. And yes, they don't make them like that anymore.

I had so many pictures on my computer and it was not only taking up too much space, but it was also slowing my computer down. My computer is getting old, so I either need to get a new one or start cleaning it up. Also, keeping my photos on my blog scares me because I worry about it crashing and then losing ALL my photos.

Thanks so much for stopping by, girl. Hope you're having a wonderful week as well! I can't believe how fast this week is flying by.

Have a faaaaaaabulous rest of your week!

  27. DOORS! I love doors! Actually, I love most architectural photos. I love the perspective of the bridge and shots of the buildings. Our city has angel/butterfly wing murals in some of the back alleys in the downtown area. Hope you have a fabulous weekend. X

    ReplyDelete
  28. Me too! I LOVE doors! And windows too! They all seem to have their own personality too.

Yes, I think those angel/butterfly wing murals are very popular because others have said the same thing. I was happy to spot one in Jenkintown because we don't have any in Center City, Philly. I love how colorful they are!

Hope you have a fabulous weekend too!
