My inspiration for this post came from my dear, longtime blogging friend, Debbie @ Musings by an ND Domer's Mom, who is not only a gifted...
One major thing I've noticed about the aging process is forgetfulness.
I live in a studio apartment that is only 275 square feet. However, several months ago, while sitting at my computer desk, I realized I needed something from the bathroom. Which, by the way, is only nine feet away from my desk. And yet, when I got up and walked into the bathroom, I forgot why. I stood there and said to myself, "Why the hell did I come in here?!?!" So, do you know what I had to do? In order for me to remember, I had to retrace my steps by walking back to the desk and sitting down in the chair.
And just like that, I suddenly remembered why I had gone into the bathroom.
I walked in there to get lip balm because my lips were chapped. DUH!
And then yesterday, when I went to my favorite coffee shop in Old City, I decided to sit at a table in their seating area and read through a skincare manual I had in my backpack about the do's and don'ts of mixing certain skincare serums together. Anyway, I always keep an extra pair of reading glasses in my backpack because I need them to read; particularly small print. I can see clearly to Hoboken, New Jersey, however, I can't see two inches in front of my face without the use of binoculars and a telescope. So I opened my backpack, but noticed that the compartment where I always store my reading glasses was empty. I thought perhaps I had put them in a different compartment, so I searched every little nook and cranny of my bag. But alas, my glasses were nowhere to be found. I kept wondering where they could be. Did I leave them at home? Did I leave them at work? Did they somehow drop out of my backpack? It totally baffled me.
Yet, I didn't understand why I could see the printed words so clearly in the manual I was holding in my hands, until I suddenly realized I was ALREADY WEARING the glasses!!!!!!
Oh dear God and baby Jesus, I had put my reading glasses on but forgot.
The topper of this story is that several days later, when I went to Trader Joe's to pick up a few food items, I made sure to purchase my favorite natural peanut butter because I was completely out. One of my passions is dipping apple slices into crunchy peanut butter for a snack. For me, there is nothing more glorious than the tasty combination of apples and crunchy peanut butter. It's foodgasmic!
Here, take a look...
