Morgan Freeman needs no introduction because, well, let's face it, he is not only known for his outstanding film acting, but his voice is one that whenever you hear it, you most definitely know who it is.

He's got one of those voices that is deep, rich, and smooth. It goes right to your soul.

His voice alone deserves a star 🟊 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

My favorite Morgan Freeman voiceover work is in the film, March of the Penguins

And my favorite films are: Driving Miss Daisy and Shawshank Redemption.

But besides his film and voiceover work, I thoroughly enjoy watching him being interviewed; sharing his thoughts and feelings about life and what it's taught him.

I tend to agree with his perceptions and opinions on so many topics.

What I admire most about this man is that he is not afraid to speak his truth. And he does it in a way that is gracious yet direct. You can see it in his eyes that he says what he means and means what he says.

And what he says comes from a place of knowing it within himself.

Recently, I found a short video clip on YouTube in which Freeman spoke about listening to and trusting your inner voice.

My Inner Voice-

I've been in touch with my own inner voice since I was a child. Of course, back then, I didn't really know what "inner voice" meant. I just knew it was there; guiding and directing my life. And more so than hearing the voice, I felt it.

In my gut.

I believe in intuition. And I believe we are all intuitive. It's just a matter of listening to that voice, trusting it, and acting upon it.

For me, I learned to trust my inner voice from the many times I didn't trust it and wished I had.

Sometimes it's a loud voice. Other times it's quiet and stays in the background; nudging me to pay attention and to notice how I feel.

My intuition is always correct, even though sometimes when I follow it, it may not be a direct route. It will sometimes take me down several paths and change direction. But it is always correct.

I guess you could say that for me, my inner voice and intuition are married. They work as one.

Do I ever question my inner voice? Yes, of course I do. I'm human. But the longer I live, the less I question it. And the more I rely on it.

I believe, as Freeman does. Vibes don't lie...

I leave you with the short video clip I found on YouTube, in which Freeman shares about "The Voice"...

Have a grrrrrreat rest of your week, everyone! 💗

*How about you? Do you trust your inner voice?

  1. Ooooo Ron, what a fascinating topic. And you expressed yourself so well! Yes, I totally believe in an inner voice/intuition. However, I don't always follow it because I second-guess it. Or perhaps it's me I second-guess that I'm really hearing what it's telling me. Or maybe I'm just hard of hearing? LOL! I think and analyze too much. I also don't respond to change very well, so I put off things that my inner voice is guiding me to do. And like you, I'm learning to trust it more from all the times I didn't trust it and wished I had.

LOVE Morgan Freeman! His voice is so soothing and comforting. At the same time, strong and attention grabbing.

Excellent actor too! I've seen 'Shawshank Redemption' at least SIX times. He and Tim Robbins were incredible in that film.

Another thought-provoking topic, Ron! You either make me laugh or think. Or both. THANKS! xo

  2. Hola, Denise!

"Or perhaps it's me I second-guess that I'm really hearing what it's telling me. Or maybe I'm just hard of hearing? LOL!"

That cracked me up! And I feel you because I too sometimes question it. In as much as I know my inner voice doesn't lie, I filter what it's telling me through my brain. However, my inner voice comes from my gut, NOT my brain. And I'm a Libra, we tend to "think" too much. But as I get older, the more I'm learning to trust my first instincts.

I agree, both Morgan and Tim were OUSTANDING in that film. I can't believe that film came out in 1994. It seems like it was yesterday.

Thanks so much for stopping by this morning, my friend. Have a great day and rest of your week!

  3. Ron, this is a good one (and timely) because I was talking with some friends over the weekend about how I keep getting a feeling that I need to change jobs. I feel it so strong, and have been for the past four months. I know that if I do it, other opportunities will come my way in what I really want to do with my degree. As you said, it's just learning to trust that inner voice and going with it.

"For me, I learned to trust my inner voice from the many times I didn't trust it and wished I had." --- Me too!

I think we are given an inner voice for a reason. It's almost like an "inner compass" that helps us move through life.

So true...Morgan Freeman's voice is so identifiable! I feel that way about Winona Ryder too. She's got such a beautiful voice.

Great topic. And an important one. Thanks for the reminder!

  4. Morning, Daniel!

Yup, I too have felt the same 'knowingness' when it came to changing jobs in my life. In fact, that happened to me back in 2019, when I left I job after 6 years. I just knew it was time. So, I did it. Sure, it was scary, but I knew that if I stayed there I'd be miserable. It all worked out for the best.

"It's almost like an "inner compass" that helps us move through life."

OMG....I LOVE THAT!!!! "Inner compass" what a great way of expressing that. You're right, it is like a compass; directing our life. Thanks for sharing that!

"I feel that way about Winona Ryder too. She's got such a beautiful voice."

Agree! He voice is so soothing. I once said that I wished she could read me storybook every night before I went to bed because her voice is so relaxing and calming. I loved her in 'Edward Scissorhands."

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, Daniel. Appreciate it!

  5. You're right, Ron, his voice alone deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. When I hear his voice, I imagine it's exactly how God sounds!!!

Very talented man indeed. And also, an inspiration. I too enjoy listening to him being interviewed. Such wisdom!

Very much like what you said, the longer I live the more I trust and rely on my inner voice. It's there for a reason. It's my brain that gets in the way. You can't think your inner voice, you have to feel it.

Vibes don't lie. I like that!

Enjoyed this post very much, dear Ron! Have a great weekend! X

P.S. Driving Miss Daisy was superb. He and Tandy were magic together!

  6. Morning, Elaine!

"P.S. Driving Miss Daisy was superb. He and Tandy were magic together!"

Couldn't agree more! They had such amazing chemistry, and that's what made the film so special.

"When I hear his voice, I imagine it's exactly how God sounds!!!"

OMG, that is sooooooooooooooooo true!!!!! Brilliant description!

I recently watched an interview when he was on CNN 9 years ago with Don Lemon. I was riveted to his every word. He ROCKED!

Yup, my brain too sometimes gets in the way. Like you shared, you can't think it. You have to feel it.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and feelings, my friend. Have a grrrrrrrreat weekend too!

  7. Oooops, forgot to mention on my comment earlier this morning that I noticed on you blog that you recently watched 'Book Club: The Next Chapter'. I did too! It was FANTASTIC! I liked the first movie, but I enjoyed this one much more. What a wonderful ending!

  8. I thought the same thing, Denise! I enjoyed the first one, but the most recent one was exceptional. I love the whole trip to Italy thing. And as you said, the ending was wonderful and totally unexpected.

Those 4 ladies were so good together. Amazing cast all around.

  9. Ron, I was blessed with a mom who taught me at a very young age to trust my instincts/intuition/inner voice because trusting your intuition means trusting your feelings, which are very important. And that it's never a good thing to ignore how you feel.

She used to say, "Intuition always has our best interest at heart." And she was right.

Morgan Freeman's body of work is so diverse. He's played so many different type characters. And all with excellence!

Thanks for reaffirming the importance of trusting our inner voice.

  10. Clair, you were so lucky to have a mom like!!!! You're right, it's never a good thing to ignore how we feel.

"She used to say, "Intuition always has our best interest at heart."

LOVE that! And sooooooooo true! When I was a kid, I didn't have many friends. So I learned how to figure things our for myself, by myself. And it was through my inner voice that I got my direction.

So true! His whole body of work is so diverse. Very talented man, he is!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing on this topic, my friend. Really appreciate that!

    Have a great weekend!

  11. Those are some of my favorite Morgan Freeman movies as well. I also love his voiceover work. If you've never seen The Lego Movie, I think you'd enjoy it. (His voice is in there, too)
Until the last three years, I had difficulty listening to my inner voice. I still make mistakes, but I'm getting better. I think that I had difficulty listening to my inner voice because I experience anxiety and couldn't trust my mind for a long time. It's been a journey. 😊

    Another thought-provoking post!
I hope you're having a good day, my friend. 😘😘💕

  12. Kari, I just searched for 'The Lego Movie' on my streaming website and found it. I will definitely watch it sometime this weekend. Thanks for the recommendation! He has been in well over 100 movies, can you believe that?

Thanks so much for sharing that. And for me it's been a journey as well. As I shared, do I ever question my inner voice and struggle with it? Sure I do. But more and more the struggle gets less.

Much thanks for stopping by, my friend! Yes, I'm having a fabulous day. Hope you are too!

    Have a fabulous weekend!

  13. What a great topic, Ron, and I also am a Morgan Freeman fan. Driving Miss Daisy was a wonderful film. I've also seen The Shawshank Redemption but once was enough for that film even though it is considered one of his best, if not the best, film. While he's acted in many more, including lots of "action" films, my preference is for the dramatic ones. He was fun playing God in Bruce Almighty and Lean on Me is another good one.

I believe we all have an inner voice, the problem is trusting ourselves enough to pay attention and listen to it.

  14. Hey there D!

I agree, 'Shawshank Redemption' is a pretty intense film. I remember seeing it for the first time and being riveted to the story. Loved the ending!

"While he's acted in many more, including lots of "action" films, my preference is for the dramatic ones. He was fun playing God in Bruce Almighty and Lean on Me is another good one."

My preference is for the dramatic ones too. Loved 'Lean on Me!' I also loved the comedy/drama he did with Diane Keaton called, '5 Flights Up.' They are both so good in it. He has done over 100 films, can you believe that?

"I believe we all have an inner voice, the problem is trusting ourselves enough to pay attention and listen to it."

True! As I shared, I still question my own inner voice at times. But I have seen countless times throughout my life that it never lies. So, it's gotten easier for me to trust it in spite of questioning it.

Have a terrific weekend, D! And thanks so much for stopping by!

  15. Ron, I find it impressive that even as a child you sensed (felt) your inner voice. Was there one incident in your life that made you realize that, or was it several. I'm just curious.

I'm more of a thinker, so I struggle with what I think about something and that inner voice that speaks to me. Like you said, though, I'm finding it more and more accurate the longer I live. I'm learning to trust it.

Big fan of Morgan Freeman. Shawshank is one of my all-time favorites, as well as "Seven." Loved that film!

  16. "I once said that I wished she could read me storybook every night before I went to bed because her voice is so relaxing and calming. I loved her in 'Edward Scissorhands.'"--- Ron, Edward Scissorhands is one of my faves! I have it on Blu ray!

  18. Ron, what a great piece! You're so right: Morgan Freeman has such a lovely, resonant voice. Very musical, almost (and quite pleasant on the ear).

I love his quote about trusting your gut instinct, too. Sadly, some of us grew up never trusting ourselves (yes, I'm working on this -- it's a battle, for sure, ha!), and I admire his confidence. You're fortunate to have mastered this lesson early on!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. We're in dire need of some rain, so if you have a little spare, send it our way! xx

  19. Ron, your admiration for Morgan Freeman shines through every word! I hope somehow he finds this post online and reads ii. I'm with you, he's not only a talented actor, but also filled with life wisdom.

And who doesn't love Shawshank? That's the first movie I saw him in.

I learned the hard way to listen to my inner voice/gut/intuition from NOT acting on it, and then cursing myself. Lol! But I do now. Even if it doesn't make total sense.

    Great post topic, Ron!

  20. Hellooooooooooo there, Debbie!

GREAT to see ya', my friend!

" Very musical, almost (and quite pleasant on the ear)."

YES! You used the perfect word to describe his voice....musical! And very pleasant on the ear, most definitely. Whenever I hear his voice, I'm instantly relaxed and calm.

"Sadly, some of us grew up never trusting ourselves (yes, I'm working on this -- it's a battle, for sure, ha!), and I admire his confidence. You're fortunate to have mastered this lesson early on!"

No doubt, I still sometimes question what I'm hearing. But I'm learning with each passing year to not process what I'm hearing through my head, but rather my gut, and trusting more and more. I also think my childhood experiences put my in touch with my inner voice as a means to move through those experiences. Which I am so grateful for.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend as well. Yes, we did have some rain recently, but not much. It's also not been too hot and humid, which I am sooooooooooo happy about. You know me, I'm not a fan of summer. LOL!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by because I know how busy you are right now. Sending you much positive energy, prayers, and love!

  21. Hey there, Abby!

Yes, I sooooooooooooo admire him! And not only for his acting, but his ability to be open and honest about his life journey, and what he's learned. So much of what he says, I agree with.

Wasn't "Shawshank Redemption" so good? It will go down as a classic!

"I learned the hard way to listen to my inner voice/gut/intuition from NOT acting on it, and then cursing myself. Lol! But I do now. Even if it doesn't make total sense."

Me as well! And it like you said, it's doesn't always make sense at first. But I'm learning to go with it because I always end up saying, "Ohhhhhh...that's what telling me!!!!"

Thanks so much for stopping by, Abby! Always so nice to read your comments!

    Have a super week!

  24. Love this topic, Ron! I too have trusted my inner voice since I was a child. I think it has saved me from some dangerous situations. Something I rarely talk about it that my best friend, who was my next door neighbor and friend with since 1968, had a stepfather who sexually abused her. She did not confide this to me until about 15 years ago when her older sister was bringing a civil lawsuit against the man. The reason I bring this up is because I HAD A CREEPY FEELING about this guy from the first time I met him when her mom remarried (I'm guessing I was around 8 years old). They moved about 6 years later, but I saw him again at her graduation parties and at her wedding and I continued to get a very bad vibe from him. I always avoided him and am so glad now!

I think on the reverse side, although I did some dumb things as a teen and early 20 something, I didn't get myself into trouble because my intuition protected me. I won't go into more sordid details, but I'm sure you get the picture. Thanks for the great topic and for a place to talk about this! XO

And I am not at all surprised to hear that because for as long as you and I have been blogging together, I have always "sensed' that your inner voice was SPOT ON and that you are extremely intuitive!

"Of course, it broke my heart that it took her so long to tell me, but I understood that she was trying to move on."

Yes. And I think things like that are very difficult to talk about, which is why she probably waited so long to tell you.

"I didn't get myself into trouble because my intuition protected me. I won't go into more sordid details, but I'm sure you get the picture/"

Yes, me as well. And I do get the picture because I had similar intuitive feelings during my younger years living in NYC and all the promiscuity that was going on in that city during 70s and 80s, and heard my inner telling me, "No...stay away from all that."

Thanks SO MUCH for stopping by and sharing on this post topic, my friend. You've added much!

    Have a great weekend!
